Jay Crossman and Walter, one of the original team members for the pong table, are at the CES 2018 Digital Trends booth, showcasing the product for the first time to the public. Jay Crossman introduces Walter as they demonstrate the pong table's technology.
As we're here at the pong table booth as part of CES 2018, Digital Trends has covered the pong table when it first launched in Kickstarter earlier last year. But now this is the first time they've done any public demonstrations of the table itself here at CES. With me I've got Walter he's one of the original team members for the pong table.
Why don't you tell me how you guys are going to market now the Kickstarter concluded and starting to get them out to backers from that Kickstarter campaign this year? Okay well we are sorry now we are ready for the manufacturing stage we will start between now and January and February. We expect to start shipments on March. Well of course we'll accomplish with all Kickstarter orders and we are now looking for the Civitas here at this year's.
We have gained a lot of interest from people and users so for us it has been great you know from the Kickstarter area till now having the real product here is a huge experience. So for just of you who've never seen the pong table before, it's basically taking the original idea of the game pong very simple two paddles in a ball bouncing forth back and forth and putting it in and just kind of in the physical world. You have an actual paddle and a like what's the technology behind the ball and how that moves around.
Well there it all works like magnets you know similar to the idea of kids playing with magnets beneath the table you know carrying each other that's the magic of it. And we did have a chance to demo here, it's extremely fun to play I did happen to win Tim our PA sorry buddy knock didn't work out too well for him.
These are going to be available for retail or like resale at some point this year after all of the Kickstarter backers have been fulfilled and what's the pricing and when are they going to be available. Well there will be available first quarter this year, the price the retail price will be $27.99.
And so the part of the history is like it was invented by a friend of yours in Uruguay and kind of how did it involve from an idea to being fully realized and going launching on Kickstarter and now production well he has been you know a whole experience we've got many people involved, many people's it all started as a garage project.
We didn't have the components at the beginning and then we started adding team members each one with a specific you know a qualification finding the components everything till we got to a manufacturing agreement with unis technologies which are the guys are going to take charge of the production. Well thanks again Walter for joining us again this is J Crossman for Digital Trends.
This is the pong table launched on Kickstarter last year, it's available later this year in q1 available for $27.99 once that goes on to full retail. Thanks again for joining us here at CES stay tuned for more coverage from Digital Trends
