HTC Windows Phone 8S In Depth Review - iGyaan

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's happening guys.in and today we're going to be reviewing the new HTC Windows phone 8s now this is a smaller sibling to uh the Windows Phone 8X which we reviewed earlier in terms of design of the phone is almost similar in terms of shape but it is a little bit bulkier because it is shorter and stout so it does have a lot more Hardware fitted into a smaller space so it's a little thicker uh around the edges in terms of color or uh the design value of the phone the phone comes in a dual tone finish so you get a main color which is the back top color and then you get an accent color in this case we have a deeper blue on the top whereas we have a lighter more royal blue fun blue at the bottom which is a removable part along with the camera bezel and the front portion uh which is uh the buttons area along with the earpiece Grill the phone runs a qualcom Snapdragon S4 processor which is a dual core CR processor it does run on 1 GHz of speed uh it does have an adreno 305 GPU in buil as well you have 4 GB of storage 512 MB of RAM and an expandability of up to 32 GB via micro SD card the phone has a nice 4in display with a 480 into 800 pixel resolution which is 233 pixels per inch however it's nowhere near the high resolution display that is seen on the Windows Phone 8X it is a 16 million color display so you get really nice rich colors including deep blacks which almost blend in with the bezel so you see almost no difference between the level of black on the screen and the level of black on the bezel uh viewing angles on this display are really good as well and uh outdoor visibility could have been better but it's not that great in terms of audio have a nice earpiece and a main microphone at the bottom the speaker at the back is fairly loud but it could have been louder considering the 20,000 rup price Mark uh the phone overall uh does a decent job of multimedia performance and video playback is great on this device when you're using the phone in day-to-day use you'll have no issues with the device whatsoever as it lasts really long it has a 1700 mAh battery and uh the overall usage capability is fairly decent we got 5 to6 hours of talk time on the phone along with some basic internet usage Facebook WhatsApp and a bunch of videos that I saw on the device as well the phone is priced at 19,500 rupees so it caters to a completely youthful segment of the market whereas it does stand out about 10,000 taller than the most responsive uh Price Market in India which is the under 10,000 Price Market however uh this does give you almost all the features of Windows Phone 8 uh despite the fact that it lacks a front-facing camera which would have been great since uh video call support has has been brilliant on Windows Phone 8X the phone is capable of running most of the applications from the Windows phone store you can browse through uh the included HTC applications as well so there are a bunch of applications that HTC makes uh to make your life easier including the flashlight application uh you also can browse through the certain set of uh recommended games and application the top free applications you can quickly click on an app and download it uh without any issues you can see that it almost instantly starts to download so once you feed in your Marketplace information you can quickly download and uh install applications and uh quickly play them as well gaming on the devices excellent uh we ran through most of the games available in the marketplace uh we didn't have any issues with that uh playing games on this device is good and uh it did not have any issues in terms of compatibility with most of the games however a couple of games including stunt c racer uh did quit on running which was fixed once I rebooted the device but till then the the phone seem to be performing just great in terms of Hardware the phone is fully capable of running Windows Phone 8 and all available applications on Windows Phone 8 uh it does have Nifty features including uh the capability of creating a Kids Corner that allows you to secure some of your applications uh so that your kids can only access that area of the device for example games and uh things that you can customize for your children the camera on the device is fairly decent as well it is a 5 megapixel camera that's only capable of 720p video so you don't get a excellent choice of video capability but you get excellent camera uh you also get the additional option of adding lenses from the marketplace so there is something called lenses Bing vision is pre- included you can download applications like handy scan and uh several other applications available in the market to add to the experience uh just like Microsoft has made a translator that using argumented reality translates text into English so that you can understand it better apart from the Windows Phone experience the device is quite capable and is a brilliant option if you're trying to get rid of uh the Android Madness that's going on in the market uh you do have a very simple very fast very fluid easy to use operating system uh with great capabilities you have a nice display uh nice viewing angle on the display as well speaker phone you also have Beats Audio integration once you start using your earphones or if you have Beats headphones uh you get Beats Audio integration as well you have a full array of apps available on the marketplace or the App Store as now it's called and uh you can download several applications however the application list is not as vast as Android or iOS but they're catching up soon uh the phone does lack a front facing camera and does have less storage and less Ram compared to for example alumia a20 which does have all these features however this phone is somewhat nicer looking or sleeker it also has a price of about 19,500 rupees which we doubt will be the price segment for the Lumia a20 the HTC Windows phone 8s is a great Windows Phone 8 device that brings the capabilities of Windows Phone 8 uh to a somewhat budget use of under the 20,000 R price mark this is the only phone available in India today that under the 20,000 R price Mark will give you the Windows Phone 8 experience that being said it may not be the best device uh that your money can buy uh however it does do
