Autobahn and Stelvio Pass with R8, P1, 918 and F12 - Alps Adventure Part 2

The Thrill of the Pass: A Journey Through the Alps

As we set out on our adventure, our excitement was palpable. We were embarking on a journey to conquer some of the most iconic mountain passes in the world, and our trusty vehicle, the Porsche 918, was ready to take on the challenge. But little did we know, our first encounter would be with a rather unexpected obstacle - a group of cows who decided to cross the road right in front of us. We slammed on the brakes, hoping that the car would come to a stop before they reached us. It was a heart-stopping moment, but fortunately, we were able to avoid any major issues.

As we continued our journey, we caught up with the 9918 and the P1, which had been chasing us earlier. We took the exit, excited for what lay ahead. Our first stop would be the Stelvio Pass, a legendary drive that promised breathtaking views and challenging terrain. We had never been to this pass before, so we were both eager and nervous about how it would turn out. As we began our ascent, we couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the stunning scenery unfolding before us. The climb was steep, but our car handled it with ease, thanks to its powerful V10 engine.

As we reached the top of the Stelvio Pass, we were treated to an unforgettable view. The Glacier, surrounded by towering peaks and lush greenery, stretched out before us like a breathtaking work of art. We took a moment to appreciate the beauty of our surroundings, snapping photos and soaking in the atmosphere. But as we prepared to begin our descent down the other side of the pass, we realized that we had taken a wrong turn. Instead of following the main road, we had stumbled upon a single-track road that wound its way up to the top. The 14 km ascent was grueling, with hairpin turns and steep inclines that tested our driving skills to the limit.

Despite the challenges, we were determined to make it down safely. We took the scenic route, marveling at the picturesque views and quaint villages along the way. The road was narrow and winding, but our car handled it with ease, thanks to its agile handling and responsive steering. As we rounded each bend, we caught glimpses of the stunning Alpine scenery, including cowbells ringing out across the valley below.

As we finally emerged from the pass, we were greeted by a beautiful view that stretched out as far as the eye could see. We took a moment to catch our breath and appreciate the stunning panorama before us. It was clear that this had been an unforgettable experience, one that would stay with us for the rest of our journey.

But our adventure wasn't over yet. As we continued on our way, we found ourselves on a ferry crossing Lake Garda, bound for our hotel on the other side. The P1 and 918 were in tow, and we had been having a bit of fun with them, taking the roof off to enjoy the fresh air. The R8, meanwhile, was proving to be an excellent companion, handling the twisty roads and scenic views with ease.

As we approached our hotel, we couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. We had navigated some of the most challenging terrain in the Alps, and emerged victorious on the other side. But as we pulled into the hotel parking lot, we realized that we were running low on fuel. We had taken the scenic route to get here, and our car was now running on fumes.

The Porsche 918 was an incredible machine, but it was clear that it needed a bit more attention than we had anticipated. As we filled up the tank, we couldn't help but feel grateful for the experience we had just shared. The Alps were a challenging place to drive in, but with our car and determination, we had conquered some of its most iconic passes.

The Road to Recovery

As we settled into our hotel room, we couldn't help but think about the events that had transpired on our journey so far. From the unexpected encounter with the cows to the thrilling descent down the Stelvio Pass, it had been a day filled with adventure and excitement. But as we began to wind down, we realized that we needed to tackle one final challenge - getting back to civilization.

Our hotel was situated on the other side of Lake Garda, and our only means of transportation was a ferry. We were eager to get across, but the wait was proving to be a bit of an issue. With no phone signal to call for assistance, we were at the mercy of the weather. But as we stood on the quayside, watching the ferry chug along its route, we couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement.

The journey across Lake Garda was a beautiful one, with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and waterways. We took in the scenery, snapping photos and enjoying the fresh air. The ferry ride was a peaceful way to unwind, and we felt grateful for the opportunity to experience it.

As we finally arrived at our destination, we couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. We had navigated some of the most challenging terrain in the Alps, and emerged victorious on the other side. And as we settled into our hotel room, we knew that this was just the beginning of an incredible journey. The road to recovery may have been long, but with our car and determination, we were ready for whatever came next.

The Future of Driving

As we reflect on our adventure, it's clear that the experience has had a lasting impact on us. From the thrill of driving through the Alps to the challenges of navigating scenic routes, it's been an unforgettable journey. And as we look to the future, we know that this is just the beginning.

The Porsche 918 is an incredible machine, and we're eager to see what other adventures it will take us on. With its powerful engine and agile handling, it's clear that this car is built for speed - but also for comfort and reliability. As we continue to drive through the Alps, we know that we'll encounter more challenges and opportunities alike.

But one thing is certain - our love of driving has been reignited, and we're eager to see where our next adventure will take us. Whether it's tackling some of Europe's most iconic roads or exploring new territories, we know that with our car and determination, the future looks bright indeed.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enright so it's hideously early in the morning and we're just getting ready to set off for what is going to be a very very long drive today we're going to be obviously back in the R8 plus looking forward to this a lot a nice drive firstly from here with one more car we're waiting to turn up still over towards an Airfield south of Munich where we're going to be meeting up with a larger group so this is all pretty good looking forward to getting on the road just waiting for the one car and then we'll be on our wa what we've got the 9118 in front of us and the P1 behind us and needless to say it is pretty wet right now we can't really see much and we're certainly not being able to open up these cars on this road but um it's been interesting to see the aerodynamics when you've got the P1 going past you can see how streamlined everything is and the sort of the rain is coming right out the back and then the 918 with wing up right now comes past and there there's a whole lot more turbulence in the air so you can sort of see what the air flow is like which is quite cool upside of the rain I suppose but um I mean is 100 meters ahead and we can't even see the 918 brake lights so uh we're taking it quite easy now here we are then met up with some people I think this is going to be a pretty fun drive here we are then the cars are lining up ready to go on today's Drive we've just had the intro told where we can go where we can't go P1 and 9918 just about to pose for a photo oh what oh oh so we seem to have found some cows and they seem to be rather inter interrupting the fun we're having on this absolutely lovely Mountain Pass and we've got some more so we're in this lineup of supercars we've got the Porsche up in front the super trali 458 another guy AO in front of us and a Corvette coming down here and uh we're in the R8 plus but um doesn't entirely seem to be going as planned hello oh gosh it would be so easy for this to go so wrong like that you just have to come to a stop and hope that the cows don't do anything Troublesome all right like that walking straight into the middle of the road that one has a Death Wish oh gosh oh well we're past that we'll try and catch up with the others again now first bit of pass done then and technically this tour is called pass Masters so we are hitting a lot of mountain passes that was a pretty good Convoy to be chasing down we've got the 9918 a little bit up ahead of us now we just caught a glimpse of it and the P1 is back behind us so things are going pretty well on this trip so far um that incident with the cows though was a little bit unusual but apart from that quite fun quite fun take the exit the next part of today's adventure we're at stvo pass I've never been here in my life which is probably a massive error although it might turn out to be incredibly overhyped which is what I think some people report back so let's hope for no traffic hope there aren't too many bikes and enjoy the view behind because right behind us is the P1 and right behind that is the portion of 918 and that's a pretty rare experience for going up the stelvio pass to see if we can see the 918 when we get around the corner there we go absolutely awesome and I think doing it in this car in the R8 is going to be pretty good here we go though this is in the start of the stelvio pass going to let's get on the way oh oh oh here we are then the top of the world famous stelvio pass that was a pretty crazy drive not going to lie you don't really get to open it up very much it is totally true traffic bikes other cars there's some surprisingly wide vehicles to try it but loads of cool cars up here as well just chilling now I'm doing a photo shoot with the P1 and the 918 lots of bikers up here some restaurants up there at the very top but wow it's pretty cool to be here first time I've ever been didn't really think we were even coming here but we're here now and it's pretty awesome Glacier up there and uh looking forward to the drive down the other side where you can open it up a little bit more so when we head down there after lunch it's going to be a little bit quicker now we took a wrong turn and rather than going back that would have been far too boring we just saw where it went us followed the TomTom took a single Track Road 14 km uphill now we're 2,000 M up in the air there are cowbells everywhere and the most spectacular view down there we've lost everyone else which is a little bit unfortunate but uh I think it was worth it for seeing how pretty it is up here this is absolutely awesome and uh that was quite a drive in the R8 up the road literally it's like this it's single track Meandering down and loads and loads of switchbacks hair pins things you can't see around um we lost everyone else unfortunately hopefully we're hoping cuz they turn back by the time we get down the other side we'll roughly somehow we meet up there's no phone signal up here so I can't ring anyone we're getting there we've got a full tank so it doesn't matter if we get too lost we'll get back uh down I think this is like there's some kind of cycling or something because there's um writing on the road and stuff all the way down um and the line I guess a start line or something I don't know but we'll go down the other half get back down to the bottom see what where it takes us so it has been a very long evening it's been raining again and so we haven't been able to see much we haven't been driving particularly interestingly so put the camera Away really just got on with it we left our hotel this morning 14 hours ago and we're now on a ferry across Lake Garda to our hotel on the other side so the p1's here the 918's here and we've actually just been having a bit of fun taking the roof off so there's another piece about that so check that out but uh the R8 has done a spectacular job so far really really pleased sorry it's so noisy in here right now and you can't really hear me properly but um yeah foot day basically down tiny bit more driving to the hotel but uh it's not been bad it's been quite adventurous very wet cars are a bit dirty got that last little stretch up to the hotel this is an R8 V10 plus the flagship when they launched the uh the new here we are in the Porsche 918 Ken turn it on you're immediately in E moderight so it's hideously early in the morning and we're just getting ready to set off for what is going to be a very very long drive today we're going to be obviously back in the R8 plus looking forward to this a lot a nice
