How to Make Pants and Shorts for Your Monster High and Barbie Girls and Boys

Welcome to Simple Kids Crafts, where we're going to be making pants for both boys and girls today! I'm excited to share this tutorial with you, and I hope it's helpful for creating adorable clothes for your Monster High or Barbie dolls. Let's get started!

The First Step: Preparing the Patterns

When it comes to making pants for different characters, we need to consider their unique features, such as weight and leg length. That's why I've created separate patterns for each boy and girl character. Take a look at these patterns on your screen – they're specifically designed for Monster High or Barbie dolls.

To make the pants, you'll need to use a piece of fabric that matches the pattern you've chosen. For this tutorial, we'll be using two types of fabric: recycled fabric for one pair and stretchy fabric for the CHS (that's what I call it). If you want to make shorts, simply take the same pattern and cut it to the desired size.

Drawing the Pattern onto the Fabric

Once you have your fabric, start by drawing the pattern onto it. This is where the magic happens! Take a marker or a pencil and carefully draw the outline of the pants or shorts onto the fabric. Make sure to follow the pattern carefully, as this will determine the shape and size of your final product.

Sewing the Pants Together

Now that you have your fabric cut out with the pattern drawn on it, it's time to sew the pants together. This is the easiest part of the tutorial – just simply sew along the line where the two pieces meet. You can use a sewing machine or do this by hand if you prefer.

To add some extra security to the seam, I like to sew up and down a few times before moving on to the next step. This helps ensure that the pants won't come apart easily. Make sure to leave enough room at the top for the waistband – we'll get to that in a minute!

Adding the Waistband

To create the waistband, you'll need to sew a small piece of fabric around the top of the pants. This will help keep everything in place and give your doll a more defined waistline. To do this, simply fold the raw edge of the fabric under by about half an inch, then press it with your iron.

Next, sew along the folded edge to create the waistband. Make sure to leave enough room at the top for the snap button (we'll get to that in a minute!). When you're done, press the seam flat with your iron and voila! You now have a beautiful waistband.

Adding the Snap Button

For the final touch, we need to add a snap button to the back of the pants. This will allow you to easily open and close the zipper. To do this, simply attach a small piece of fabric to the center of the waistband, making sure it's secure and won't come undone.

I prefer to use snap buttons because they're easy to use and add a nice touch to the overall design. You can also use other types of fasteners, such as velcro or hooks and eyes, if you prefer. Just make sure to attach them securely so they don't come loose over time.

Adding Decoration (Optional)

If you want to add some extra decoration to your pants, now is the time to do it! You can use a yellow thread to stitch on pockets, create a hemline, or even add some embroidery details. The possibilities are endless!

Finishing Touches

And that's it! Your pants are now complete. Make sure to try them out on your doll and make any necessary adjustments before displaying them proudly.

One of the coolest things about these patterns is that you can use them for Monster High, Barbie, or even other dolls like Ken. I've included a link to download the patterns below, so be sure to check it out!

In conclusion, making pants for your Monster High or Barbie dolls can be a fun and rewarding project. With these simple steps and patterns, you'll be creating adorable clothes in no time. "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwelcome to simplekidscrafts.com episode 692 how to make pants and shorts for your Monster High and Barbie girls and boys materials fabric pattern pen needle thread and scissors hi today we're going to be making pants for both boys and girls and I will start with the boys these are the boys and you can see that they have different weights as well as the length of their legs it's a little bit different for the girls is the same thing so I have made patterns for each one of them and the patterns look like this and they will have who I'm making them for if you want to make them into shorts you simply take the same pattern and then cut to the size that you want on the screen you can see that I'll be making long pants as well as shorts I'm using recycle fabric for one of them and then I'm using stretchy fabric for the CHS so I will start by drawing the pattern into the fabric and then cutting that off and then after I have cut off the fabric then I should have two pieces that look like this and what we will do is to put the two pieces together and we will sew on one side we will basically sew only on the top because this will be the seam for the front of the pants so after I have sewn that add back and forth a couple of times I'm going to start sewing on each leg for the pants I will fold it in this manner and then I'll start sewing all the way up this is pretty easy the instructions are very very easy to follow and what I like to do is to sew up and down a couple of times so that I can secure the actual leg of the pan I think it's a good idea that way the sewing doesn't come off I'm sewing each leg for the pants and after I'm done with that then I am going to go ahead and sew the back of the pants for the long pants I'm going to sew only halfway through and for the short pants I'm going to sew completely the reason why is because the shorts are from stretchy Fabric and the long pants are not so we want to also sew the top portion the one that will go to the waist as well and we will fold that inwards now that we have sewn the pants it is time to to move the fabric from the bad portion of the fabric to the good portion of the fabric or reverse if you will and then what you get is basically the pants already done the CHS don't need anything else they're done because they're from stretchy fabric but the long pants we have to uh finish off and for that I can use several things I can use nap buttons I can use the little uh hooks that you have at stores the bcro or I can even use elastic and I would choose to use the snap buttons that way I can close and open up the pants from the back so I'm going to take the smallest one that I have and I am going to attach that to the back of the pants after I have sewn this the pants are ready to be used and we just simply have to slide them on to the models or to our dolls and the cool thing about the patterns that I I have given you guys is that you can actually use them for Monster High for candles for any kind of D and again the link to where you can download the patterns is on the screen after we're done then we will cut off the excess and we can close and open our pants and that's it that's basically what the pants look like you can actually also put decoration on the pants or make them look a little bit more real like to have pockets and stuff by using a yellow thread on the side of the pants as well as in the middle but this tutorial is for simple pants only so I hope that you um are able to make the pants first so that's really why I have done this short tutorial and here are the shorts and one interesting fact about the shorts is that they can fit on Barbie but they can also fit on Monster High boys and I really like that um as you can see the pants fit really well and now let's try the same pants on clo right here and you can see that the same pants also fit on him so I have giving you patterns for both the Monster High boys the girls and also for Barbie and Ken well I hope that you enjoy this project and that you try it at home and please stay tuned for the ch outs and also for fun picks I'll talk to you guys later bye
