BOOKMAS DAY SIX!

Overhyped Releases: A Personal Opinion

As I sit down to discuss six books that I believe are the most overhyped, I want to make it clear that this is my personal opinion. I understand that there may be others who love these books and think they're not overhyped at all. That's perfectly fine, and I respect everyone's right to their own opinion. My goal here is simply to share my thoughts on why I didn't connect with these particular books.

First up is Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. I have to admit that I was never a fan of this series, even when it was all the rage back in the Twilight era. I thought it felt a bit corny and the characters just didn't resonate with me. When I watched the movie adaptation, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't as bad as I had expected. However, I still couldn't help feeling like I just hadn't reached my expectations with the book itself.

Next is Ruby Red by Kirsten Gear. This series has always been a bit of an enigma for me. Whenever I'd try to rate books on Goodreads right after finishing them, I'd later realize that they didn't quite live up to my initial enthusiasm. With Ruby Red, it was similar - the writing was fantastic, but the overall experience just felt flat to me. The lack of action and plot developments made it hard for me to become invested in the story.

Jennifer Niven's All the Bright Places is another series that I originally rated highly, but later reevaluated with a critical eye. Unfortunately, my opinion didn't change much - I still didn't find it to be very realistic, and certain aspects of the book just didn't sit well with me. It's not that I hated it, per se, but more that it just didn't resonate with me on an emotional level.

Laini Taylor's Daughter of Smoke & Bone is a series that many people adore, but one that I found to be solidly good rather than truly amazing. While I wasn't blown away by the book, I did want to reread it in the future to see if my opinion might change. There was just something about it that didn't quite click with me - perhaps it's because I've heard so much about how fantastic everyone else thinks it is.

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard is a series that promised originality and excitement, but unfortunately delivered neither for me. I felt like the world-building was lacking, and the characters didn't feel well-developed enough to truly invest in their story. The whole thing just felt a bit generic and unremarkable.

Finally, there's The Winner's Curse by Marie Rossi (I believe that's her last name - my apologies if I got it wrong!). I fell in love with the cover of this book and was eager to dive into its world, but unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to my expectations. The writing wasn't bad by any means, but there were certain aspects of the story that just didn't sit well with me - particularly when it came to character dynamics.

These six books represent some of the most overhyped releases in my opinion, and I hope sharing my thoughts on each one will give you a better sense of why they didn't resonate with me.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey everyone it's hay and today is book Miss day six on the sixth day of book miss my true love to me six overhyped releases so today I'm going to be talking about six of the books that I think are the most overhyped now before you all get mad at me for the books I'm going to talk about in this video and I know that there's going to be a lot that you're going to get mad at me about um just remember that this is my personal opinion so you may think that a book that I love is overhyped which is completely fine you're entitled to your own opinion I'm entitled to mine don't get mad at me this is just what I think and yeah there's nothing wrong if you love these books and you don't think they're overhyped but they're just personally I think that they fell a little bit flat for me because my expectations were too high and they were way too hyped up so I'm just going to get the most probably the most controversial one out of the way and that is Vampire Academy by relle me I just didn't really like this book I thought it was a little bit corny maybe that's because I didn't read it when it was like super hyped up and it was all like the Twilight era and everything but I just felt like it wasn't that good I didn't like the characters I didn't really like the world everything about it just fell a little bit flat for me um and then I watched the movie and that just took it to a whole another level and it was just like I didn't think it was bad necessary but I didn't think it was like absolutely fabulous like a lot of other people do but like I said that's just my opinion I don't know I just kind of felt like met about it the next one is Ruby Red by kirston gear um this one I think I I really sometimes on good reads I'll rate books right after I read them and then I realized after that that like I've readed at five stars but really it was like a three stars and that definitely happened with this series for me this whole entire series I just felt like was okay like I felt like in the first two books nothing really happened like people would ask me oh what like what are you reading what's it about and I was like I honestly don't even know because nothing has really happened in it and for me that kind of just fell flat the writing of it was fantastic but I just felt like I needed more action I just needed more of everything and I didn't really get that in this series until the very last book and that was very rushed in the last book so I was just kind of me about this series next is all the bright places by Jennifer nen now this is another one that I originally rated really high and then I went back and I looked at it and I was like why did I rate it like that um I just didn't really agree with how certain things were dealt with in this book um I didn't find it to be very realistic and I just didn't really like it um so I lowered my rating quite significantly and I just think it was I don't know I just didn't like it I'm just going to chalk it up to that next is daughter of smok and Bone by Lany Taylor now a lot of people really really love this series and it's not that I didn't like it I just felt like it was kind of not average it was good like I wasn't absolutely wowed by it but I thought it was like good um I haven't read it in a really long time and I do kind of want to reread it and maybe my opinion will change then but I just didn't really exactly love it when I read it um I don't know I can't really think of why I just I felt like it wasn't like a five-star book and everyone is like a lot of people are really obsessed with the series so it's kind of expecting that and it just wasn't that for me but like I said I think I'm going to reread this one give it another shot I don't know we'll see next is Red Queen by Victoria avard now this one had so much hype leading up to its release like people were going crazy for it because of the cover and because of everything about it it sounds super cool but then I read it and it's literally like every single other ya book is like something is taken from them and all put into this book it's just not original at all and for that reason I felt like it was just really overhyped um I just feel like it could have been a lot better with the concept but it was just way too much pulled from other books and like kind of reinvented um I just wanted a little bit more originality I guess and the final one is the Winner's curse by Marie rosi I fell in love with the cover of this book and then I was like I have to read it and I just just didn't really like it that much um I do have a review for it so if you want to watch that you can go ahead um I got it like super ranty in that review though I just didn't really like the way it dealt with certain things and I didn't like the characters I felt like the whole entire thing was a little bit like the character Dynamic was really messed up and I didn't like it at all I don't know if you want to know more just watch my review because I read this a long time ago so I can't really remember and I don't want to say something wrong and have all get mad at me because YouTube comment sections can be vicious so those are six of the books I think are the most overhyped there are more that I think are overhyped but I think those ones kind of take the cake like I said these are just my personal opinions so if you loved one of these books then that is great I'm really happy for you but I just didn't personally don't attack me for my opinion like I said I probably have a book that I love that you think is overhyped so whatever it's just everyone has their own opinion and everyone is fine don't forget to subscribe I put out new videos every Tuesday and Thursday except for bookm
