The Impact of Sports on Our Lives
Sports have always been a significant part of our lives, bringing people together and providing entertainment for millions around the world. However, with the current situation, it's clear that sports are not just affected by the pandemic but also changed forever. The cancellation of major sports events such as March Madness has left many fans feeling disappointed and frustrated. As one fan said, "It's really affected my life... well sports are over well it's really affected me."
The Loss of Sports Revenue
One of the most significant consequences of the pandemic is the loss of revenue for sports leagues and teams. With no games being played or spectators in attendance, the financial impact is substantial. As one expert noted, "Sports are over well it's really affected my life... so upset are you sports still happening no at least I don't know about all of it like overwatch League they usually get together in like a stadium kind of space and all that's been cancelled." The loss of revenue has far-reaching consequences for players, coaches, and staff who rely on the income generated by these events.
Alternative Sports to Replace Traditional Ones
In an effort to fill the void left by traditional sports, alternative sports are being promoted. One such example is marble racing, which has gained popularity in recent years. As one ESPN intern noted, "ESP interns to alternative sports including marble racing... yeah that's exactly what I was thinking." While it may not be as exciting as traditional sports, marble racing provides a unique form of entertainment for fans.
The Rise of Online Sports
With the cancellation of physical sports events, online sports are becoming increasingly popular. Platforms like ESPN+ and streaming services are offering alternative content to fill the void left by traditional sports. As one fan noted, "I go to my media collection and I go to Netflix I go to Amazon Prime and I'll look at my Steam games and I look at my Xbox Live... I just scroll through them and I'm just like I don't want any of this." Online sports provide a convenient alternative for fans who can't attend traditional events.
The Struggle is Real
For those in the industry, the struggle to adapt to the new reality is very real. As one fan noted, "I think it's just a publicity stunt because it literally says that the espn2 was going to rename itself to ESPN 8 the Ocho... I would those sports not have crowds... I think this is just a bunch of hype." The struggle to adapt to new technologies and platforms is a common theme among fans and industry professionals.
A Boring Dystopia
The pandemic has brought about a sense of boredom and despair. As one fan noted, "I don't want any of this... it's like I go to my media collection and I'm just like I don't want any of this." The lack of human interaction and entertainment options is taking a toll on many people.
Strip Clubs and the Pandemic
One industry that has been particularly affected by the pandemic is the adult entertainment industry. Strip clubs have had to close temporarily, with some even offering drive-through shows in an attempt to stay open. However, these efforts were met with resistance from authorities, who deemed them non-essential. As one expert noted, "100 dollars for a ten minute in Vegas still that's just that's ridiculous and and you know it'll be like people get that thousand-dollar check... I went down to the drive-thru strip club I gotta thinks all of it."
A Silver Lining
While the pandemic has brought about many challenges, there are also some silver linings. The rise of online sports and alternative content provides fans with new ways to engage with their favorite athletes and teams. As one fan noted, "I want to reorganize my office and I just have not had time to do that... it's probably fine." The pandemic has forced many people to reevaluate their priorities and find new ways to occupy themselves.
A New Era for Sports
As we look to the future, it's clear that sports will never be the same. The cancellation of major events and the rise of online content have changed the way we experience sports. While it may take time for fans to adjust to this new reality, there are already signs of a new era dawning. As one expert noted, "I guess what if cherry-pick spitting hard catches on and it becomes the new huge sport... it really is a lot of power behind a spit." The pandemic has brought about many challenges, but it's also opened up new opportunities for innovation and adaptation in the world of sports.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwell this episode of the news is brought to you by the node there's never been a better time to try the node that get a new promo going on and there's a link for that below it's low note calm such level one text the promo is free static object storage so this is a new service that the node is offering what's a static object storage it's like Amazon's s3 you know like the s3 buckets that we're always struggling with or struggling with other people's lack of permissions or reporting permissions issues the notice has got surges and so you can host static files on it you can also use secure s3 buckets for backups so you can create an encrypted backup stored in the s3 bucket so that only you have the key to it so it's not public or anything like that so if you need to store a big file or a little file or static files or movies or music for media or whatever that'll be hosted on lanolin's content delivery network you don't need the server for it you don't need anything like that there are some static site tutorials that the node has for using static storage but it's completely free if you already have a low node account it's completely free until March 31st 2020 so you can try it see how it goes so that's pretty awesome and if you use the link you'll actually get a $20 credit on your Nuala node account but if you even if you have an old Lunada count you automatically have the free you know object storage functionality so that is a new feature you should definitely check it out and try it if for no other reason then it will look good for you to have tried the static storage thing on your loan account because it's like hey the level 1 connection what are you still doing here go do it now you really should because it's pretty awesome it's actually cheaper like s3 is one of the cheapest things that amazon has and lenôtre on is less expensive than Amazon s3 and I'm trying it right now to actually make sure that it's better but so far I've been really impressed because s of what it is it's very expensive well no I love the classroom ok let's use Amazon we'll just pay for what we use that just bade literally do not understand like they are just being robbed like they're gonna run all of their infrastructure it was on that's great for scaling you can scale up and down you can do the reserved instances but they just do not understand that they're being robbed if once they're spending more than like $400 a month on Amazon infrastructure it's just they don't understand but you do you will as soon as you play with your Lynette account thanks Alan owed thank you hello everyone today is Friday March 27th it is two weeks of the q''-word I think we're allowed to say quarantine are we allowed to say I don't know oh we don't really know the rules we're gonna say quarantine II it's uh I think we've been demonetised already yeah it's somebody pointed out bad if we one tab in the description it's it's the c-word is everywhere oh when we should just do the one tabs you'll have to join up to patreon to get the timestamps or floatplane you got nothing better to do right that's not like you need extra money right we'll give you the one tabs but the timestamps no well let's talk about robots not a lot of robot news as you might imagine people aren't focusing on their robots although this probably some guys in their garage with time to finish up their robot produce from battle bots but Microsoft has created a new robot to help with this whole situation the CDC launches a thing that helps you self check it's a chat bot with the help of Microsoft now I really could not concentrate on this article because I was thinking about all of the stories of the people that were asymptomatic super spreaders coming out of South Korea and thinking a chat bot is not gonna be able to detect this why did what what in fact when you if you start up the chat bot and it's like hey do you have symptoms and you click no and it's like do you know somebody who has symptoms and you click no it's like I don't want to talk to you yeah just I actually went through this oh no it's like you're fine you need to calm down but we there's a reason you're not here kissable there's a little bit of a scare with you yeah I had a fever Thursday and I kind of got freaked out I feel fine now so I don't know if that was just like but that's what people always say yeah you're literally literally a super spreader yeah like I'd rather be safe than sorry at this point like you're like an oil derrick for virus just pumping out of you there's the all the your house is under positive pressure cuz you're pumping out so much virus this is coming out part of the door remember the footage of those oil derricks from Desert Storm and then like the dude with like the napalm running out and then it catches on fire it's literally that in virus form Roo can probably smell it and she's like what is going on who's been very excited about quarantine this week very happy yeah I'm sure a lot of pets are enjoying that well some people are using rope now but robotics yeah a little bit of stretch I put 3d printing in this too so it's a robots and 3d printing we just don't always say 3d printing because there's rarely stories but yeah 3d printing you know it's one of those things it's like well it's not always super useful it's cool but what do you use it for turns out in a crisis it can be super useful open source project spins up 3d printed ventilator validation prototype in just one week I think this is too complicated for a ventilator I mean it's probably good but wait you know stepper motors and crap like that are we gonna turn old printers into this I think that what you gotta use parts you've got on hand yeah I may not I don't I don't know that I have it's a rod and everything else is 3d printed so the basically this is a bag that goes at an oxygen thing and you squeeze it and let it go and squeeze it and let it go and that's ninety percent of what a ventilator is people need ventilators when they can't breathe and less complicated but still useful and cool volunteers produce 3d printed valves for life-saving treatments of that thing in in Italy this is the story out of Italy so yeah you can well not just that it's also the little gray things so the original story here was that the company that owns these products had the patent and they were like no we'll sue you and the verge went crazy and they're like oh my god torches and pitchforks yeah they actually got in touch with the company and I was like no it's fine yeah we have the patent but we're not crazy we're not gonna spread that rumor though no well like the guy that did the files got a kind of a nasty letter cuz he shared the email that he got well he tried to get the schematics from yet yeah yeah and so he just redesigned his own and was like I guess this is fine so they they printed a lot of those they are doing like two and four patients a ventilator because there's just not enough ventilators to go around in places start are you printing those too come on they're kind of hard to design because like you have to set it up so it's just very light puffs of air otherwise you risk like exploding the person's lungs which is crazy yeah it's a dark thing about exit bags Billerica exit pack not slightly curious but it's common for people to build those and turn the pressure up to high and then you just get really damaged lungs and a trip to the ER and you get a psych eval you don't die gotta be very careful about the pressure you put into your lungs keep that in mind if you're gonna have to like you know Daisy your own ventilator at home because you know it's not easy to do end of the world safely and we don't have a way of detecting the thing yet but we are making some interesting strides toward AI detecting smells Intel's neuromorphic chip learns to smell 10 hazardous chemicals it's a smell in quotation marks there because it's not a sense of smell as we would know it but it is basically just bare silicon that can pick up different chemical signatures but really our nose is just you know just little fragments of stuff bouncing around listen when you smell poop guess what open your nose so if it can detect the little particles of all these different things acetone was one of them it mentioned the other ones enough for cotton but basically they've gone for like the really dangerous stuff that could be explosives or whatever they also talked about you know banned substances meaning weed so it might actually have cops might actually have like a weed detector on the car at some point I used to know somebody that did arsenic testing for mine sites and I get like the legal limit is like 5,000 parts per million or something like that and he said after you got to where you were doing it four or five years that you could smell the soil like you could just smell it like your nose is sensitive enough down to about ten to fifteen thousand parts per million and so if you've got really contaminated soil like you could just smell the soil yourself and be like yep this is gonna come back positive if something terrible happens to you during this crisis and you lose a limb I don't know if that's a byproduct of this particular problem but hey what if it happens to you there's hope many muscles let amputees control a robot hand with their minds this was a very cool story yeah they're really the most interesting thing about this is that like it's different than the other interfaces that we've talked about in the past because what they do is they take a little sort of paper clip size section of muscle out of your thigh and wire it up to the nerve that is intended to go to like what the muscle that would normally control your finger if your arm is damaged or whatever and because it's really hard to detect the electrical signals directly from the nerve but if you wire up a nerve to a muscle and then you listen for the muscle to contract that is a much better interface for this type of for this type of artificial limb so they just put little tiny sections of muscle in your arm for your fingers and then you get really fine motor control because but you're not actually directly interfacing with the nerve which is a little beyond our technical capabilities right now and they all so don't reroute it from somewhere else like sometimes they use a shoulder muscle or something to control your fingers but that also has downsides and with this they don't have to do that that's often the case with a thing like this you think well yeah it's cool but you have to have all this invasive surgery and you got oh you want to pull stuff out of my thigh that's terrible well it turns out they already do that because it helps with phantom pain so now all I gotta do is just plug a little you know some kind of interface in while they're putting those muscles in boom you got robot hands I'm eight yeah great video in here too if you want to check that out well you're quarantined this next story is all about the video and we can't see it thanks USA Today it's also if if you see this with a better ad blocker you can watch it but it begs the question who was filming her own walk the dog on empty streets of Cyprus so Cyprus is under lockdown and you gotta walk your dog right well there's a drone somebody was filming it and it was moving like as if a human hand was holding it it wasn't steady I feel like we would just destroy that like just rip it down immediately that would be a great video yeah all it would be an expensive video cuz drones are not this Rou now are you taking her on full walks or was it just pee and poop locked I took her on a full walk yesterday but so like there weren't a lot of people out obviously but I did like pass someone and like we went across the street we were practicing good social distancing which rue was not happy about I would think that rue is probably the worst possible creature in the world in terms of social distancing yeah she has no sense of personal space seems very intent on being around other people or animals or whatever yeah yeah so she wasn't happy because we had across the street when we saw someone coming our way but no so far I have not had a conference call I actually got out of a conference call because of the thing one of the you've done is a couple I've done I've actually had a couple of trips canceled and I've been on the phone about 50% more than usual so how often were you snacking during that time a lot and there's good news Microsoft Microsoft can filter out the sound of you eating potato chips on a conference call software giant strained artificial intelligence software identify background noise that isn't your voice stackers rejoice I would like to test this on the toilet flushing sound the potato chip thing though that's incredible because like sometimes you just really want a snack and it's like I can't do this right now what if you have to do toilet flushing and potato chips at the same time it will challenge the AI will feed their model other than 20 seconds of hand washing after you're done yeah now this story I remember I've distinctly not like deja vu I distinctly remember putting this in a previous version the news when this was happening in China yeah did we do it I think not with this picture what we did no I remember this exact fix a lot because we did the air saw once so just I think it was the robot but it was not this picture okay so we talked about the this guy robots use light beams to zap Hospital viruses basically it's just a big old burst of ultraviolet radiation you roll this guy in there and make sure people are out of the room because it's a fairly intense light and it just zaps everything with this insanely bright ultraviolet light and that just kills everything it's cool-looking robot which is good that's how it should be just roll it in there just take say that you get the smell of burnt hair when you're it's uh yeah that's a it's like instant skin cancer that's cool though I mean you know it's you're not using up anything yeah so other than power just keep that thing going all day long in hospitals as you wheel out of corpse robot comes in and it also vaporizes all the hair off oops you know what's sad is this Japanese asteroid it doesn't know what's going on here yeah it thinks that everything's just fine did you see the video where it wasn't the US it was like Brazil maybe where they had one of those game shows online or you know like the reality shows and you're not allowed to have any outside oh yeah then they told them they don't have any idea well this guy's I did the same problem he doesn't know how bad it is Japan's asteroids smashing probe reveals a surprisingly young space rock the carbon-rich asteroid Rio may have come together just ten million years ago so this is much younger than they were expecting it's barely legal in the ages of asteroids yeah they expected what like four hundred million I think wow but it's just ten so he fired a little copper cannonball at the it goes at the surface to make a hole to try to study the the stuff under the crust while that frame rates fantastic isn't it you know what I'm gonna leave you hanging and yeah young super young I don't know what we've learned from that but yeah we learned something also they were amazed by how much damage they've managed to do they expected a small hole no huge hole with his the material wasn't super compacted yet it's that's so tiny and young tender asteroid meanwhile this headline was everywhere and a little bit of clickbait yeah the word to hit maybe a little over stating the situation nasa fixes Mars Lander by hitting it with a shovel they didn't hit it with a shovel so much as mash it into the soil with a shovel so here it is it's this thing over here there's like a two second yeah it's really just a nudge point just a little push so it turns out much like the asteroid they miss estimated the what's going on with the Martian soil they thought it was super sandy nope it's dirt so their digger not built for dirt so just had to mash it down to the soil and then it cut just fine like Plan C though they're like we didn't expect this we didn't really want to do this but well when you have billion-dollar equipment on another planet hit it with a shovel should be Plan C yeah I want to try everything else first theaters are done they've shut down no more of that which thank God cuz people weren't gonna stop on their own no they were still going and when you talk about threading the needle sonic has done it in a way that they couldn't have planned this no way Jim Carrey could finally retire so I like a hedgehog surpasses detective Pikachu to become the highest-grossing video game movie of all time that's from such humble beginnings since those early you know frames that we saw from up feet to bypassing detective Pikachu a bit Ryan Reynolds is really upset I'm sure he's fine I doubt the quarantine is all that hard yeah now that is in the u.s. worldwide who knows because sonic has not released worldwide and do you release it in China right now no probably not so we'll see about that we'll see if we ever see another movie what how about if this destroys society the peak of cinema was Sonic the Hedgehog Sonic the Hedgehog Herald when they unearth the theatres you know far into the future and they pull out those digital copies I like what the is and that is beginning of nonsense in case it wasn't obvious I would I would sneak in that there's one other thing that I can't wait for archaeologists to find and that is the butthole version about hole cut of cats oh I forgot I said that the crystal earlier this week I forgot yeah you know I was telling Krista like when you live with cats you see their butt hole costume Thanks like they just like yes look look upon it isn't it glorious it just seems like 90% of the time they're showing you their butts so it makes sense if you studied cats why they did that are you explain it I I mean I understand it if you're doing just like anatomical studies but like it should already dealing with like an artistic version of a cat like why would you be like you know what I'm gonna put a butthole on judi dench those there's no logic to it I so the story was they digitally added buttholes to the cats hackers and one cut and then somebody decided that that was what it was which is just horrific and another guy had to come in and edit out the buttholes digitally so this is what you go to art school for cats available in digital now they went ahead and jumped the the usual way time release if you you know you're morbidly curious during pointing but you can't see the bottle of this please we want to break even on this movie we lost so much money now we have a ton of stories about toilet paper I weren't a lot of nonsense stories this week again really only one topic in the news but toilet paper there were a lot of stories about toilet paper this toilet paper calculator tells you how long your stash will last I made it until almost September that's using the office supplies I didn't hoard it now I get the big Charmin rolls does it account for how big your toilet rolls are I don't think I sighs it doesn't it's not really clear about its methodology at all which I find flawed a great clickbait excellent idea yeah genius oh no I missed this one it's how much toilet paper calms the website so do but you know what engagement challenge post in the comment your date your d-day for wiping your ass with your hands I would like a chemist or a biologist to tell me what the calorie value for roll of toilet paper is like if you had to eat it could you survive and try real you would not know also you get a good fiber that level of fiber is gonna move through you so that's probably costing nutrients that you're pushing out what a real treat so I wouldn't recommend maybe use it in like a meatloaf or something but don't you see it's like the corn flakes that we added going up it's the it's like we don't have enough meat to make meatloaf let's add corn flakes yeah exactly our breadcrumbs well some of the paper has become a bit of an underground currency because of the rarity of it now I still can't buy it around here I have you guys seen any evidence that total pepper yeah they you know weirdly with the the regular restock order they've had no problem bringing that but they will not bring water wow that's amazing well the stores forget it and because of that criminals seem to be taking advantage deputies find 8,000 pounds of toilet paper in a stolen tractor trailer truck in North Carolina Wow are they gonna start putting GPS trackers on TP how how many rolls toilet paper do you think it takes to make a pound three or four yeah it's very light probably more than three or four that's a lot of toilet paper yeah so they indicated that the truck was stolen but they didn't arrest the driver that's a very weird story hmm so I don't know what was going on there if like he was tricked or what but maybe that his employer was like we're not gonna pay you anything all right keep honest and you have to be careful who you give access to your precious toilet paper to because obviously you know in a business setting somebody has the key to the toilet paper Locker can they be trusted you have to ask yourself man arrested for allegedly stealing 66 rolls of toilet paper from an Orlando hotel police say 66 rolls my kingdom 466 rolls of toilet paper he was the janitor and he admitted now he claims that they knows an older woman who can't get out and she needs a toilet paper did she need 66 rolls yeah a little weird disgusting surprising that people care in Florida because everything I've read about Florida so far has said that people are still out on the beaches just in the sand like cash if you were one of the people who was not prepared and you didn't get your hands on any toilet paper what do you do you got to find an alternative right but you need to be careful about what you use an alternative you gotta use common sense flush t-shirts clogged California City sewer and toilet paper so apparently like this California City had a major problem there was a backup equipment malfunction turns out somebody was using shredded t-shirts for toilet paper I okay okay fine you have me like okay I'm gonna use a t-shirt well I don't understand is why you would flush it after because it's disgusting I mean you can just throw it away I mean it'd be gross but you can take your trash out right after but oh you're gonna take your trash out every twice a day every day are you pooping twice a day I think regular people poop twice today Christian we've had this discussion before you poop an oddly low amount of times well yeah that's really serving me well in this crisis it's also true that you know like you like a bird so yeah it kind of makes sense but also true for like you know baby wipes and the usual those kind of thing that's it yeah he was gonna say flushable father serviced them so don't flush those because you don't want during this time you don't want to deal with that kind of situation though and if you'll recall the horrible individuals looking back how dark was it when the people licked the ice cream in the stores what we're now about public health very bad they should go back and just execute them I always do the same Northern Virginia teams Coughlin grocery store produce and then upload videos videos on social media yes I'm all for capital punishment in this case that's ridiculous how long you think the thing can live on a green pepper I didn't they do a study recently that was like two to three hours what about organic to you I think because the none of the mechanisms of the organic material is operational that would not it probably about the same as plastic cuz everything's dead it's still disgusting terrible people I think they did manage to track them down are they were going to again posting things to social media just yeah it's like why do you not have any sense why is this a thing a lot of people have been creative and we got a lot of funny stuff that's come out you know the gallows humor you got to love it and it's dark but we need levity in times like this and that's why I salute the creator of the quarantine II emergency cautions against mixing vitamin powder with liquor to make quarantine ease turns out just calling everything according teeny but apparently this is the og quarantine yeah you probably shouldn't do that why not well they say alcohol is bad for you if you get it now this bar this bar did it with orange juice cuz you know or is just about the same terms of vitamin C but that's just gin and juice what else you gonna do yeah I mean you know I thought a couple of times I was like you know there's all that alcohol down there in the fridge just just go get it just give wasted wasted why not holy stream it well so we definitely are experiencing all sorts of suppression and censorship as you may have noticed we can't say the thing or doing everything we can not to get demonetized that makes sense that some people spread disinformation and that can be dangerous but they go really far in the other direction is it to quell panic well who knows but there is a surprising new route to getting your voice heard beyond suppression minecraft hosts uncensored library full of banned journalism so in Minecraft you can go look at books and things that have been banned this is a beautiful build yeah I I don't understand exactly how this works so like are the articles just paste it into in-game books there is a like an image that you can download that's like the pre-built I don't know what's going on here they're not gonna show it to us but you can download the entire thing and then somehow it's locked so that you can't destroy anything but you can add to it huh so then you can add your own stuff to it and then upload that same package I don't know how that gets merged but somehow you can get an official you know like push from your minecraft to add your thing to it well that'll be ID I can't imagine that's a pleasant way to read no oh minecraft books no did you see tinder has made it free for you to chat with people in other countries because people were using it that way it's like how are things over there does that not agree not well I don't I don't I don't think so maybe I don't know they put a press release out about it what how does that make any sense that why would you try to hook up with people in other countries you're not it's just to chat with them but I mean why would it have that feature because they're worried about all of the other communication mechanisms being filtered somehow no but I'm saying like why okay if that's a paid feature why would I ever pay for it too morbid curiosity no I'm assuming it was part of the dating app before all of this but you paid for it yeah just to be able to chat with somebody okay I don't know I've been playing a crippled dot IO which is like pictionary but online the other day I think we played with someone who was Italian it was very strange Wow yeah uh I think I did no I did I don't know if I won that round but he didn't his name was green radish do you when you play something like that are you just like flexing and waiting for somebody to be like oh wow you're really good artist no I usually just go for like the easiest thing cuz you want people to be able to guess it cuz you get more points that way it's about winning well sports are over well it's really affected my life is it affected yours yeah so upset are you sports still happening no at least I don't know about all of it like overwatch League they usually get together in like a stadium kind of space and all that's been cancelled well they could do online though I guess I guess but they had they can't check your hardware and make sure you're not cheating no that's true yeah well sports are gone and you gotta think that that affects the the quarantine because people would be glued to their TVs right now watching college basketball but cancelled I don't have that so March Madness is canceled they're out just touching doorknobs instead just you know putting us all at risk and ESPN is scrambling to find anything to replace what it's lost ESP interns to alternative sports including marble racing yes yes marble racing yeah that's exactly what I was thinking it's in the it's in the time in the article is in fact but so marbles cherry pits pitting sign-spinning robot fighting League and death driving championship I mean Mary pits pitting looks like something that you do in Eastern Kentucky when you're bored but I would those sports not have crowds I I think this is just a publicity stunt because it literally says that the espn2 was going to rename itself to ESPN 8 the Ocho kind of as an homage to the dodgeball movie where they were playing what you spin was covering dodgeball how many millions of dollars a day you think they're losing there's no sports that's probably a billion dollar plus loss yeah gotta do something I guess what if cherry-pick spitting hard catches on and it becomes the new huge sport he really is a lot of power behind a spit they're like a slow-motion you know what a dark future uh-huh it's not just to get lungs on this young man it's the technique what is it what's the subreddit boring dystopia especially dark right now it really is boring do you guys have that like I go to my media collection and I go to Netflix I go to Amazon Prime and I'll look at my Steam games and I look at my Xbox Live and I just I just scroll through them and I'm just like I don't want any of this I happen to haven't experienced the boredom yet because I you know there's been so much so many things that have come out of the Woodworks it's like a hearty to work on that and and I keep thinking it's like aha there's finally gonna be time to do XY and Z but then there's not and perhaps that's a sad reflection on I spent too much time working on things that probably don't matter in the end it's probably fine I want to reorganize my office and I just have not had time to do that at our final story if you are someone who likes to pay for the attention of women it's a bad time because human contact is out you can't have it and one strip club all they did their darndest to try and work around the problems ultimately it was enough little darlings closes temporarily after governor Cieslak I don't know how to I don't know where this is they had planned to offer drive-through shows and hand sanitizer wrestling hand sanitizer wrestling seems like that would be like it'd be so astringent over your whole body yeah any sort of like paper cut or anything like that you had misra bad for your skin yeah now here's the crit so this didn't work they said listen are you insane close you were non-essential go away and they did uh but here's the craziest thing a hundred dollars for a ten minute in Vegas still that's just that's ridiculous and and you know it'll be like people get that thousand-dollar check it's like oh well I went down to the drive-thru strip club I gotta thinks all of it I mean you're in Vegas I gotta think ten dollars a minute you just get a prostitute what kind of sauce is some kind of wine we can't you might feel bad about yourself so what we happening and you're just gonna have to go for the cam girls until all this is over said man sacrifices we make right we rough time we do actually have some technology videos that are coming probably out some of them out this week someone will be out next week so look forward to that can use your computer and do fun stuff when you don't have anything else to do stay healthy stay safe we'll see you next week probablywell this episode of the news is brought to you by the node there's never been a better time to try the node that get a new promo going on and there's a link for that below it's low note calm such level one text the promo is free static object storage so this is a new service that the node is offering what's a static object storage it's like Amazon's s3 you know like the s3 buckets that we're always struggling with or struggling with other people's lack of permissions or reporting permissions issues the notice has got surges and so you can host static files on it you can also use secure s3 buckets for backups so you can create an encrypted backup stored in the s3 bucket so that only you have the key to it so it's not public or anything like that so if you need to store a big file or a little file or static files or movies or music for media or whatever that'll be hosted on lanolin's content delivery network you don't need the server for it you don't need anything like that there are some static site tutorials that the node has for using static storage but it's completely free if you already have a low node account it's completely free until March 31st 2020 so you can try it see how it goes so that's pretty awesome and if you use the link you'll actually get a $20 credit on your Nuala node account but if you even if you have an old Lunada count you automatically have the free you know object storage functionality so that is a new feature you should definitely check it out and try it if for no other reason then it will look good for you to have tried the static storage thing on your loan account because it's like hey the level 1 connection what are you still doing here go do it now you really should because it's pretty awesome it's actually cheaper like s3 is one of the cheapest things that amazon has and lenôtre on is less expensive than Amazon s3 and I'm trying it right now to actually make sure that it's better but so far I've been really impressed because s of what it is it's very expensive well no I love the classroom ok let's use Amazon we'll just pay for what we use that just bade literally do not understand like they are just being robbed like they're gonna run all of their infrastructure it was on that's great for scaling you can scale up and down you can do the reserved instances but they just do not understand that they're being robbed if once they're spending more than like $400 a month on Amazon infrastructure it's just they don't understand but you do you will as soon as you play with your Lynette account thanks Alan owed thank you hello everyone today is Friday March 27th it is two weeks of the q''-word I think we're allowed to say quarantine are we allowed to say I don't know oh we don't really know the rules we're gonna say quarantine II it's uh I think we've been demonetised already yeah it's somebody pointed out bad if we one tab in the description it's it's the c-word is everywhere oh when we should just do the one tabs you'll have to join up to patreon to get the timestamps or floatplane you got nothing better to do right that's not like you need extra money right we'll give you the one tabs but the timestamps no well let's talk about robots not a lot of robot news as you might imagine people aren't focusing on their robots although this probably some guys in their garage with time to finish up their robot produce from battle bots but Microsoft has created a new robot to help with this whole situation the CDC launches a thing that helps you self check it's a chat bot with the help of Microsoft now I really could not concentrate on this article because I was thinking about all of the stories of the people that were asymptomatic super spreaders coming out of South Korea and thinking a chat bot is not gonna be able to detect this why did what what in fact when you if you start up the chat bot and it's like hey do you have symptoms and you click no and it's like do you know somebody who has symptoms and you click no it's like I don't want to talk to you yeah just I actually went through this oh no it's like you're fine you need to calm down but we there's a reason you're not here kissable there's a little bit of a scare with you yeah I had a fever Thursday and I kind of got freaked out I feel fine now so I don't know if that was just like but that's what people always say yeah you're literally literally a super spreader yeah like I'd rather be safe than sorry at this point like you're like an oil derrick for virus just pumping out of you there's the all the your house is under positive pressure cuz you're pumping out so much virus this is coming out part of the door remember the footage of those oil derricks from Desert Storm and then like the dude with like the napalm running out and then it catches on fire it's literally that in virus form Roo can probably smell it and she's like what is going on who's been very excited about quarantine this week very happy yeah I'm sure a lot of pets are enjoying that well some people are using rope now but robotics yeah a little bit of stretch I put 3d printing in this too so it's a robots and 3d printing we just don't always say 3d printing because there's rarely stories but yeah 3d printing you know it's one of those things it's like well it's not always super useful it's cool but what do you use it for turns out in a crisis it can be super useful open source project spins up 3d printed ventilator validation prototype in just one week I think this is too complicated for a ventilator I mean it's probably good but wait you know stepper motors and crap like that are we gonna turn old printers into this I think that what you gotta use parts you've got on hand yeah I may not I don't I don't know that I have it's a rod and everything else is 3d printed so the basically this is a bag that goes at an oxygen thing and you squeeze it and let it go and squeeze it and let it go and that's ninety percent of what a ventilator is people need ventilators when they can't breathe and less complicated but still useful and cool volunteers produce 3d printed valves for life-saving treatments of that thing in in Italy this is the story out of Italy so yeah you can well not just that it's also the little gray things so the original story here was that the company that owns these products had the patent and they were like no we'll sue you and the verge went crazy and they're like oh my god torches and pitchforks yeah they actually got in touch with the company and I was like no it's fine yeah we have the patent but we're not crazy we're not gonna spread that rumor though no well like the guy that did the files got a kind of a nasty letter cuz he shared the email that he got well he tried to get the schematics from yet yeah yeah and so he just redesigned his own and was like I guess this is fine so they they printed a lot of those they are doing like two and four patients a ventilator because there's just not enough ventilators to go around in places start are you printing those too come on they're kind of hard to design because like you have to set it up so it's just very light puffs of air otherwise you risk like exploding the person's lungs which is crazy yeah it's a dark thing about exit bags Billerica exit pack not slightly curious but it's common for people to build those and turn the pressure up to high and then you just get really damaged lungs and a trip to the ER and you get a psych eval you don't die gotta be very careful about the pressure you put into your lungs keep that in mind if you're gonna have to like you know Daisy your own ventilator at home because you know it's not easy to do end of the world safely and we don't have a way of detecting the thing yet but we are making some interesting strides toward AI detecting smells Intel's neuromorphic chip learns to smell 10 hazardous chemicals it's a smell in quotation marks there because it's not a sense of smell as we would know it but it is basically just bare silicon that can pick up different chemical signatures but really our nose is just you know just little fragments of stuff bouncing around listen when you smell poop guess what open your nose so if it can detect the little particles of all these different things acetone was one of them it mentioned the other ones enough for cotton but basically they've gone for like the really dangerous stuff that could be explosives or whatever they also talked about you know banned substances meaning weed so it might actually have cops might actually have like a weed detector on the car at some point I used to know somebody that did arsenic testing for mine sites and I get like the legal limit is like 5,000 parts per million or something like that and he said after you got to where you were doing it four or five years that you could smell the soil like you could just smell it like your nose is sensitive enough down to about ten to fifteen thousand parts per million and so if you've got really contaminated soil like you could just smell the soil yourself and be like yep this is gonna come back positive if something terrible happens to you during this crisis and you lose a limb I don't know if that's a byproduct of this particular problem but hey what if it happens to you there's hope many muscles let amputees control a robot hand with their minds this was a very cool story yeah they're really the most interesting thing about this is that like it's different than the other interfaces that we've talked about in the past because what they do is they take a little sort of paper clip size section of muscle out of your thigh and wire it up to the nerve that is intended to go to like what the muscle that would normally control your finger if your arm is damaged or whatever and because it's really hard to detect the electrical signals directly from the nerve but if you wire up a nerve to a muscle and then you listen for the muscle to contract that is a much better interface for this type of for this type of artificial limb so they just put little tiny sections of muscle in your arm for your fingers and then you get really fine motor control because but you're not actually directly interfacing with the nerve which is a little beyond our technical capabilities right now and they all so don't reroute it from somewhere else like sometimes they use a shoulder muscle or something to control your fingers but that also has downsides and with this they don't have to do that that's often the case with a thing like this you think well yeah it's cool but you have to have all this invasive surgery and you got oh you want to pull stuff out of my thigh that's terrible well it turns out they already do that because it helps with phantom pain so now all I gotta do is just plug a little you know some kind of interface in while they're putting those muscles in boom you got robot hands I'm eight yeah great video in here too if you want to check that out well you're quarantined this next story is all about the video and we can't see it thanks USA Today it's also if if you see this with a better ad blocker you can watch it but it begs the question who was filming her own walk the dog on empty streets of Cyprus so Cyprus is under lockdown and you gotta walk your dog right well there's a drone somebody was filming it and it was moving like as if a human hand was holding it it wasn't steady I feel like we would just destroy that like just rip it down immediately that would be a great video yeah all it would be an expensive video cuz drones are not this Rou now are you taking her on full walks or was it just pee and poop locked I took her on a full walk yesterday but so like there weren't a lot of people out obviously but I did like pass someone and like we went across the street we were practicing good social distancing which rue was not happy about I would think that rue is probably the worst possible creature in the world in terms of social distancing yeah she has no sense of personal space seems very intent on being around other people or animals or whatever yeah yeah so she wasn't happy because we had across the street when we saw someone coming our way but no so far I have not had a conference call I actually got out of a conference call because of the thing one of the you've done is a couple I've done I've actually had a couple of trips canceled and I've been on the phone about 50% more than usual so how often were you snacking during that time a lot and there's good news Microsoft Microsoft can filter out the sound of you eating potato chips on a conference call software giant strained artificial intelligence software identify background noise that isn't your voice stackers rejoice I would like to test this on the toilet flushing sound the potato chip thing though that's incredible because like sometimes you just really want a snack and it's like I can't do this right now what if you have to do toilet flushing and potato chips at the same time it will challenge the AI will feed their model other than 20 seconds of hand washing after you're done yeah now this story I remember I've distinctly not like deja vu I distinctly remember putting this in a previous version the news when this was happening in China yeah did we do it I think not with this picture what we did no I remember this exact fix a lot because we did the air saw once so just I think it was the robot but it was not this picture okay so we talked about the this guy robots use light beams to zap Hospital viruses basically it's just a big old burst of ultraviolet radiation you roll this guy in there and make sure people are out of the room because it's a fairly intense light and it just zaps everything with this insanely bright ultraviolet light and that just kills everything it's cool-looking robot which is good that's how it should be just roll it in there just take say that you get the smell of burnt hair when you're it's uh yeah that's a it's like instant skin cancer that's cool though I mean you know it's you're not using up anything yeah so other than power just keep that thing going all day long in hospitals as you wheel out of corpse robot comes in and it also vaporizes all the hair off oops you know what's sad is this Japanese asteroid it doesn't know what's going on here yeah it thinks that everything's just fine did you see the video where it wasn't the US it was like Brazil maybe where they had one of those game shows online or you know like the reality shows and you're not allowed to have any outside oh yeah then they told them they don't have any idea well this guy's I did the same problem he doesn't know how bad it is Japan's asteroids smashing probe reveals a surprisingly young space rock the carbon-rich asteroid Rio may have come together just ten million years ago so this is much younger than they were expecting it's barely legal in the ages of asteroids yeah they expected what like four hundred million I think wow but it's just ten so he fired a little copper cannonball at the it goes at the surface to make a hole to try to study the the stuff under the crust while that frame rates fantastic isn't it you know what I'm gonna leave you hanging and yeah young super young I don't know what we've learned from that but yeah we learned something also they were amazed by how much damage they've managed to do they expected a small hole no huge hole with his the material wasn't super compacted yet it's that's so tiny and young tender asteroid meanwhile this headline was everywhere and a little bit of clickbait yeah the word to hit maybe a little over stating the situation nasa fixes Mars Lander by hitting it with a shovel they didn't hit it with a shovel so much as mash it into the soil with a shovel so here it is it's this thing over here there's like a two second yeah it's really just a nudge point just a little push so it turns out much like the asteroid they miss estimated the what's going on with the Martian soil they thought it was super sandy nope it's dirt so their digger not built for dirt so just had to mash it down to the soil and then it cut just fine like Plan C though they're like we didn't expect this we didn't really want to do this but well when you have billion-dollar equipment on another planet hit it with a shovel should be Plan C yeah I want to try everything else first theaters are done they've shut down no more of that which thank God cuz people weren't gonna stop on their own no they were still going and when you talk about threading the needle sonic has done it in a way that they couldn't have planned this no way Jim Carrey could finally retire so I like a hedgehog surpasses detective Pikachu to become the highest-grossing video game movie of all time that's from such humble beginnings since those early you know frames that we saw from up feet to bypassing detective Pikachu a bit Ryan Reynolds is really upset I'm sure he's fine I doubt the quarantine is all that hard yeah now that is in the u.s. worldwide who knows because sonic has not released worldwide and do you release it in China right now no probably not so we'll see about that we'll see if we ever see another movie what how about if this destroys society the peak of cinema was Sonic the Hedgehog Sonic the Hedgehog Herald when they unearth the theatres you know far into the future and they pull out those digital copies I like what the is and that is beginning of nonsense in case it wasn't obvious I would I would sneak in that there's one other thing that I can't wait for archaeologists to find and that is the butthole version about hole cut of cats oh I forgot I said that the crystal earlier this week I forgot yeah you know I was telling Krista like when you live with cats you see their butt hole costume Thanks like they just like yes look look upon it isn't it glorious it just seems like 90% of the time they're showing you their butts so it makes sense if you studied cats why they did that are you explain it I I mean I understand it if you're doing just like anatomical studies but like it should already dealing with like an artistic version of a cat like why would you be like you know what I'm gonna put a butthole on judi dench those there's no logic to it I so the story was they digitally added buttholes to the cats hackers and one cut and then somebody decided that that was what it was which is just horrific and another guy had to come in and edit out the buttholes digitally so this is what you go to art school for cats available in digital now they went ahead and jumped the the usual way time release if you you know you're morbidly curious during pointing but you can't see the bottle of this please we want to break even on this movie we lost so much money now we have a ton of stories about toilet paper I weren't a lot of nonsense stories this week again really only one topic in the news but toilet paper there were a lot of stories about toilet paper this toilet paper calculator tells you how long your stash will last I made it until almost September that's using the office supplies I didn't hoard it now I get the big Charmin rolls does it account for how big your toilet rolls are I don't think I sighs it doesn't it's not really clear about its methodology at all which I find flawed a great clickbait excellent idea yeah genius oh no I missed this one it's how much toilet paper calms the website so do but you know what engagement challenge post in the comment your date your d-day for wiping your ass with your hands I would like a chemist or a biologist to tell me what the calorie value for roll of toilet paper is like if you had to eat it could you survive and try real you would not know also you get a good fiber that level of fiber is gonna move through you so that's probably costing nutrients that you're pushing out what a real treat so I wouldn't recommend maybe use it in like a meatloaf or something but don't you see it's like the corn flakes that we added going up it's the it's like we don't have enough meat to make meatloaf let's add corn flakes yeah exactly our breadcrumbs well some of the paper has become a bit of an underground currency because of the rarity of it now I still can't buy it around here I have you guys seen any evidence that total pepper yeah they you know weirdly with the the regular restock order they've had no problem bringing that but they will not bring water wow that's amazing well the stores forget it and because of that criminals seem to be taking advantage deputies find 8,000 pounds of toilet paper in a stolen tractor trailer truck in North Carolina Wow are they gonna start putting GPS trackers on TP how how many rolls toilet paper do you think it takes to make a pound three or four yeah it's very light probably more than three or four that's a lot of toilet paper yeah so they indicated that the truck was stolen but they didn't arrest the driver that's a very weird story hmm so I don't know what was going on there if like he was tricked or what but maybe that his employer was like we're not gonna pay you anything all right keep honest and you have to be careful who you give access to your precious toilet paper to because obviously you know in a business setting somebody has the key to the toilet paper Locker can they be trusted you have to ask yourself man arrested for allegedly stealing 66 rolls of toilet paper from an Orlando hotel police say 66 rolls my kingdom 466 rolls of toilet paper he was the janitor and he admitted now he claims that they knows an older woman who can't get out and she needs a toilet paper did she need 66 rolls yeah a little weird disgusting surprising that people care in Florida because everything I've read about Florida so far has said that people are still out on the beaches just in the sand like cash if you were one of the people who was not prepared and you didn't get your hands on any toilet paper what do you do you got to find an alternative right but you need to be careful about what you use an alternative you gotta use common sense flush t-shirts clogged California City sewer and toilet paper so apparently like this California City had a major problem there was a backup equipment malfunction turns out somebody was using shredded t-shirts for toilet paper I okay okay fine you have me like okay I'm gonna use a t-shirt well I don't understand is why you would flush it after because it's disgusting I mean you can just throw it away I mean it'd be gross but you can take your trash out right after but oh you're gonna take your trash out every twice a day every day are you pooping twice a day I think regular people poop twice today Christian we've had this discussion before you poop an oddly low amount of times well yeah that's really serving me well in this crisis it's also true that you know like you like a bird so yeah it kind of makes sense but also true for like you know baby wipes and the usual those kind of thing that's it yeah he was gonna say flushable father serviced them so don't flush those because you don't want during this time you don't want to deal with that kind of situation though and if you'll recall the horrible individuals looking back how dark was it when the people licked the ice cream in the stores what we're now about public health very bad they should go back and just execute them I always do the same Northern Virginia teams Coughlin grocery store produce and then upload videos videos on social media yes I'm all for capital punishment in this case that's ridiculous how long you think the thing can live on a green pepper I didn't they do a study recently that was like two to three hours what about organic to you I think because the none of the mechanisms of the organic material is operational that would not it probably about the same as plastic cuz everything's dead it's still disgusting terrible people I think they did manage to track them down are they were going to again posting things to social media just yeah it's like why do you not have any sense why is this a thing a lot of people have been creative and we got a lot of funny stuff that's come out you know the gallows humor you got to love it and it's dark but we need levity in times like this and that's why I salute the creator of the quarantine II emergency cautions against mixing vitamin powder with liquor to make quarantine ease turns out just calling everything according teeny but apparently this is the og quarantine yeah you probably shouldn't do that why not well they say alcohol is bad for you if you get it now this bar this bar did it with orange juice cuz you know or is just about the same terms of vitamin C but that's just gin and juice what else you gonna do yeah I mean you know I thought a couple of times I was like you know there's all that alcohol down there in the fridge just just go get it just give wasted wasted why not holy stream it well so we definitely are experiencing all sorts of suppression and censorship as you may have noticed we can't say the thing or doing everything we can not to get demonetized that makes sense that some people spread disinformation and that can be dangerous but they go really far in the other direction is it to quell panic well who knows but there is a surprising new route to getting your voice heard beyond suppression minecraft hosts uncensored library full of banned journalism so in Minecraft you can go look at books and things that have been banned this is a beautiful build yeah I I don't understand exactly how this works so like are the articles just paste it into in-game books there is a like an image that you can download that's like the pre-built I don't know what's going on here they're not gonna show it to us but you can download the entire thing and then somehow it's locked so that you can't destroy anything but you can add to it huh so then you can add your own stuff to it and then upload that same package I don't know how that gets merged but somehow you can get an official you know like push from your minecraft to add your thing to it well that'll be ID I can't imagine that's a pleasant way to read no oh minecraft books no did you see tinder has made it free for you to chat with people in other countries because people were using it that way it's like how are things over there does that not agree not well I don't I don't I don't think so maybe I don't know they put a press release out about it what how does that make any sense that why would you try to hook up with people in other countries you're not it's just to chat with them but I mean why would it have that feature because they're worried about all of the other communication mechanisms being filtered somehow no but I'm saying like why okay if that's a paid feature why would I ever pay for it too morbid curiosity no I'm assuming it was part of the dating app before all of this but you paid for it yeah just to be able to chat with somebody okay I don't know I've been playing a crippled dot IO which is like pictionary but online the other day I think we played with someone who was Italian it was very strange Wow yeah uh I think I did no I did I don't know if I won that round but he didn't his name was green radish do you when you play something like that are you just like flexing and waiting for somebody to be like oh wow you're really good artist no I usually just go for like the easiest thing cuz you want people to be able to guess it cuz you get more points that way it's about winning well sports are over well it's really affected my life is it affected yours yeah so upset are you sports still happening no at least I don't know about all of it like overwatch League they usually get together in like a stadium kind of space and all that's been cancelled well they could do online though I guess I guess but they had they can't check your hardware and make sure you're not cheating no that's true yeah well sports are gone and you gotta think that that affects the the quarantine because people would be glued to their TVs right now watching college basketball but cancelled I don't have that so March Madness is canceled they're out just touching doorknobs instead just you know putting us all at risk and ESPN is scrambling to find anything to replace what it's lost ESP interns to alternative sports including marble racing yes yes marble racing yeah that's exactly what I was thinking it's in the it's in the time in the article is in fact but so marbles cherry pits pitting sign-spinning robot fighting League and death driving championship I mean Mary pits pitting looks like something that you do in Eastern Kentucky when you're bored but I would those sports not have crowds I I think this is just a publicity stunt because it literally says that the espn2 was going to rename itself to ESPN 8 the Ocho kind of as an homage to the dodgeball movie where they were playing what you spin was covering dodgeball how many millions of dollars a day you think they're losing there's no sports that's probably a billion dollar plus loss yeah gotta do something I guess what if cherry-pick spitting hard catches on and it becomes the new huge sport he really is a lot of power behind a spit they're like a slow-motion you know what a dark future uh-huh it's not just to get lungs on this young man it's the technique what is it what's the subreddit boring dystopia especially dark right now it really is boring do you guys have that like I go to my media collection and I go to Netflix I go to Amazon Prime and I'll look at my Steam games and I look at my Xbox Live and I just I just scroll through them and I'm just like I don't want any of this I happen to haven't experienced the boredom yet because I you know there's been so much so many things that have come out of the Woodworks it's like a hearty to work on that and and I keep thinking it's like aha there's finally gonna be time to do XY and Z but then there's not and perhaps that's a sad reflection on I spent too much time working on things that probably don't matter in the end it's probably fine I want to reorganize my office and I just have not had time to do that at our final story if you are someone who likes to pay for the attention of women it's a bad time because human contact is out you can't have it and one strip club all they did their darndest to try and work around the problems ultimately it was enough little darlings closes temporarily after governor Cieslak I don't know how to I don't know where this is they had planned to offer drive-through shows and hand sanitizer wrestling hand sanitizer wrestling seems like that would be like it'd be so astringent over your whole body yeah any sort of like paper cut or anything like that you had misra bad for your skin yeah now here's the crit so this didn't work they said listen are you insane close you were non-essential go away and they did uh but here's the craziest thing a hundred dollars for a ten minute in Vegas still that's just that's ridiculous and and you know it'll be like people get that thousand-dollar check it's like oh well I went down to the drive-thru strip club I gotta thinks all of it I mean you're in Vegas I gotta think ten dollars a minute you just get a prostitute what kind of sauce is some kind of wine we can't you might feel bad about yourself so what we happening and you're just gonna have to go for the cam girls until all this is over said man sacrifices we make right we rough time we do actually have some technology videos that are coming probably out some of them out this week someone will be out next week so look forward to that can use your computer and do fun stuff when you don't have anything else to do stay healthy stay safe we'll see you next week probably\n"
