Tuber only gets paid if you click on the ad so it's like a pay per click as far as I know I probably should look into this more so in all reality it's only the YouTubers who are really getting big views that can fully live and sustain their life and household livelihood just from ad Revenue views which is why most YouTubers have other streams of income but to be specific with ad Revenue if you want to know how much any given YouTuber makes there's a website called socialblade go in there you can type in a YouTube channel and it will tell you their ad Revenue within a range what I have found is that it is accurate and it tends to be on the higher side of that range so if it says like one to ten thousand dollars a month for me it's always been in the higher end of of that range.
now a huge huge thing that does not get discussed that I feel like you need to know that we all need to talk about okay whatever that number is like sometimes you hear these big numbers that influencers YouTubers are making you have to take that number okay and cut it in half not exaggerating self-employment tax we pay almost two thousand dollars a month out of pocket for health insurance federal tax state tax so whatever numbers you see or hear just know that in most cases it is cut in half I mean I'm in California so our taxes are higher than other states but still and then most influencers do have a manager where they give somewhere between 10 to 20 percent most people it's like 15 goes to the manager so it's not as luxurious as it seems like just looking at the high level number.
next is brand deals I could do a whole video and let me know because I'll answer more in-depth questions about brand deals so I will tell you how much YouTubers and Instagram influencers get paid for brand deals because there's a formula that I have found in my experience to be accurate and so that is for every 100 000 followers it's about a thousand dollars so if I had three hundred thousand subscribers then the brand would pay usually right around three thousand dollars now it could be higher or lower like that's just a kind of a base Point depending on how good of a negotiator you are how engaged your audience is and that also does hold true I have found with Instagram I did a whole video recently on brand deals that I've turned down if you're interested like more about that topic.
then the next category of income is affiliate Amazon affiliate and a lot of people do like reward style magic links there's a lot of different affiliate Network and for me that's what I prefer doing the most because with affiliate links nobody is telling me what product to talk about so I get the opportunity to share the things that I really liked if I don't like the thing I just won't share it if I like it I will share it so for me a majority of my income comes from Amazon affiliate so that is anytime you click and you shop through my links I get a small Commission on that the thing is I don't know in the Amazon contract how much I'm allowed to say but it's anywhere from one to ten percent but I think when I looked at my overall numbers it ended up being essentially whittling down to about 50 cents for every product sold so if I had to make a pie chart for myself it's about 50 percent affiliate maybe 30 percent brand deals and 15 20 YouTube ad Revenue so look my opinion on like influencer marketing and influencers income and all of that is that I would rather find the people I like shop through their links like help support them as individuals and families that I know versus otherwise that advertising money is going to be going to major corporations big Executives like I'm happy to do that that's just how I feel.
how long until I started making a livable income so when we first moved into this house I was making nothing like nothing from YouTube I was making 700 a week working for my mom like doing some marketing stuff for her gosh it took years I really started posting like consistently in 2014 so I would say it wasn't until like 2018 2019 that it was enough to make a livable income oh my gosh I've been talking for a very long time I hope you found this interesting if you have any other lingering questions leave them down in the comments I can definitely share more because I have hundreds of questions that I have not gotten a chance to get to so with all of that said I hope you have a great rest of your day and I will see you soon with a new video
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello and welcome back to my channel so get your tea ready ladies and gentlemen because we're going to talk about all the things that nobody else ever does about being an influencer and I do say that in quotations because I hate that word influencer what does that even mean I consider myself a content creator but that is kind of the common word people use and I feel like the more that influencer culture has gotten into society the more misconceptions there are and frankly truths and yes I'm even going to discuss in detail the whole money issue how much influencers make and all of that I asked on my Instagram stories what you guys really wanted to know and you went in you did not hold back with these questions there's a lot to discuss so let's dive in a lot of questions revolving around haters do I get a lot of haters has any hater comment ever made me cry so I am an extremely Sen sensitive person so it's kind of crazy that I'm even in the public eye for all of these people on the internet to say whatever they want when I very first started I will never forget this I think I had posted two or three videos I got a comment and it was like who is this fake dumb blonde she needs to get off the internet something along those lines which in the context of hater comments maybe isn't even that mean but that hit me so hard I was sobbing and I had to go to a bachelorette party that afternoon I was so upset I almost canceled I could not get it together eventually I went and then I realized I'm like I need to toughen up a little I need to get some thicker skin because I will crumble I will completely crumble at this point I am very very extremely lucky that I don't get that many mean comments to my face that is not to say that people are not talking about me and I don't catch wind of it and that's fine because I once heard the quote what other people's opinions are of you is none of your business what motivated me to become a YouTuber I wanted to answer this question because I don't think I've ever publicly shared this story you might not even believe me because it sounds ridiculous but the only reason I ever started on YouTube is because my mother nagged me to do it I never watched YouTube I didn't really know what it was but my Mom saw something in me I'm always the type of person my entire life where I love to share things that I like tips tricks products whatever it is so my mom was like you should start a YouTube channel and every single time I saw her she would say when are you gonna make a video when are you gonna make a video and literally for no other reason than to get her off my back because my mother's nagging could end world wars like she will not stop so I finally filmed a video and at the time I didn't know that you could cut like if you messed up you could just cut and start from where you left off so every time I messed up I would start from the beginning and it took me eight hours to film one video so even after that first video I didn't like it I don't know to this day I'm like thinking about why did I keep going I think it comes down to it was a creative Challenge and I'm somebody who is very competitive with myself and it was fun like getting views I would get like 15 views and I'm sure nine of them were from my mom and the other were from me watching it on repeat but it kind of just became this fun Challenge and then when I started getting comments here and there that really meant so much to me and still to this day that is what keeps me going I read all of my comments and seeing that anything that I share has an impact like that means the most to me another thing I will note about this on my YouTube Journey back when I started YouTube was not something you did to make money I don't even know if YouTube had ad Revenue at the time even if they did I did not make one single penny until two years after starting not one penny I didn't even turn on ads if there were even ads available I remember my very first brand deal and when I turned ads on my videos I had 300 000 subscribers at the time and I had just moved into this house so anything prior to this house if you go way back in the archive I was not making one single penny so that being said that should tell you where my true intentions lie like I was never in this and I have never been in this to make money I'm not a very money hungry person but at the same time my thoughts on it is I want to do as well as I can for the time that I have because I don't know how long that will be which actually leads me to my next question what do you plan to do once YouTube is over and great question because that is a question that I think about a lot every single year I'm convinced that it's my last year on YouTube that everything's gonna fall apart No One's Gonna care or watch me so that is why my mentality has always been to save and invest and be really smart my plans are once YouTube is over is to grow and sell my own businesses that is why I've been working talking so hard behind the scenes I mean more so than you guys even realize and that is part of why Ryan left his job is because I wanted to build real businesses that could live and exist Beyond YouTube so I have my jewelry company Ember and Ivy which actually we are just launching our holiday collection today or tomorrow I will put on the screen if it is available now or it might be coming out in the next couple of days our Ivy chain became really really popular so I came out with a new version of it kind of a spin on it so it's that same concept but with diamonds so it's Sparkles it dazzles this is a wow piece and then my symbolic piece is the shield and this for me I actually designed this back when I had so much anxiety about driving every time I would leave the house driving I thought that I was going to die and I know that sounds ridiculous if you struggle with driving anxiety or any type of anxiety you might relate to this and so I created this because I wanted something I could have on me that made me feel protected so anyway I have Ember and Ivy and then my other brand belt hair and that's my big picture like Life vision we have invested so much in this this is my brand that means beautiful Earth so it's all sustainable better for the environment Home Products and we are an Amazon brand so the idea there is to kind of plant the seed create products that I personally love and want to share with you and then hopefully the brand will take off within the Amazon ecosystem I plan on staying on this platform and being here for as long as you want to watch because it is truly genuinely my passion to share the ideas that I love products books life hacks like anything interesting and useful that I come across I love sharing that because I'm hoping to add value to your life make your life just a little bit better and more positive do I have any beef with other influencers so yes there is one influencer out there who majorly screwed me over I've never told this story before but this was maybe three or four years ago I've always kind of kept to myself because early on when I started I reached out to a few others and everyone just gave me the cold shoulder I didn't reply so it kind of caused me to go in my shell a little bit and there was this girl she had a kind of similar channel to me she started engaging with my content messaging me like sparking up a friendship so we became friends we would talk on the phone share information and at one point she's like Brittany do you have a manager and I'm like no because other fun fact I've never had a manager and tangent here the reason why I've never had a manager is because managers essentially they make money from you making money so they're always pushing you into doing more deals and taking on more because if you make money they make money right and I don't like any external pressure I like to do my own thing I like to follow my own inner voice like I don't want somebody pressuring me if that makes sense so that's a big part of it also managers you know they take a percentage of your earnings and I just I just like working independently okay so I've never had a manager and this girl she's like Brittany you should use my manager she just had a spot open up she's phenomenal she brings me the most amazing opportunities like oh okay I mean if this manager is so great and she takes so much off your plate and gives you these amazing opportunities maybe I'll sign with her long story short I sign with this manager lo and behold the girl completely lied to me she lied about how much she was making apparently she got some kind of a signing bonus by bringing me on and this manager not only did she not bring me any good opportunities she brought me only horrible opportunities but when I brought in my own deals from pre-existing relationships she was taking 20 so she was taking 20 of everything I made with doing no work these were all pre-existing relationships that I had and I was so upset and despondent and hired my own lawyer who was able to find like a loophole in the contract this this is right before Capri was born literally two days before Capri was born we found this loophole in the contract and I was able to get out of it and another interesting thing about this girl is she is no longer on the internet and that is something I will tell you I feel like in influencer culture people's true colors they come out so yes there are some influencers I don't have personal beef with but I just don't think that they're good people but I don't say a word because I do feel and have faith that people over time they see your true colors and if you are disingenuous if you are lying if you're doing something Shady that's going to come out sooner or later so I'm just gonna sit over here stay in my Lane but I will say in the past year or so I have developed some really good relationships like I've let down some of those walls so I'm good friends now with Shay Whitney with a girl Jacqueline she's a tick talker mom like a boss is her Tick Tock name and Tiffany Beeston so those are my girls who we support each other we help each other out what's stresses you out the most about being a YouTuber and I would say definitely it's maintaining what I have for me I just want to continue to provide value and good content and new ideas and so at a certain point I actually completely stopped looking at all of my YouTube views because I would put my value as a person in the number of views that I would get on a video like if I worked really hard on a video and it would bomb in my eyes like I would take that really personally so what I realized is that when I stopped looking at the views I could just make the content that I wanted to make and not worry and not stress so what I do look at is my YouTube ad Revenue every month that kind of tells me the overall health as long as it's in a similar range I don't panic I'm like okay the channel overall is still doing fine because most of my video views fun fact are from older videos that I've done so now let's get into what I would say 80 of the questions are about money let's talk money so he here is how YouTubers make money I'll break it down for you first is AdSense ad Revenue so when you're watching any YouTube video there are ads that will play and a YouTuber only gets paid if you click on the ad so it's like a pay per click as far as I know I probably should look into this more so in all reality it's only the YouTubers who are really getting big views that can fully live and sustain their life and household livelihood just from ad Revenue views which is why most YouTubers have other streams of income but to be specific prefer doing the most because with affiliate links nobody is telling me what product to talk about so I get the opportunity to share the things that I really liked if I don't like the thing I just won't share it if I like it I will share it so for me a majority of my income comes from Amazon affiliate so that is anytime you click and you shop through my links I get a small Commission on that the thing is I don't know in the Amazon contract how much I'm allowed to say but it's anywhere from one to ten percent but I think when I looked at my overall numbers it ended up being essentially whittling down to about 50 cents for every product sold so if I had to make a pie chart for myself it's about 50 percent affiliate maybe 30 percent brand deals and 15 20 YouTube at Revenue so look my opinion on like influencer marketing and influencers income and all of that is that I would rather find the people I like shop through their links like help support them as individuals and families that I know versus otherwise that advertising money is going to be going to major corporations big Executives like I'm happy to do that that's just how I feel how long until I started making a livable
