**A Day in the Life of a Mountain Biker**
That doesn't have a guard rail we gotta be able to be a little wild peek-a-boo hey with a little bit of sun now this is like massive gnar okay oh a little too slow no problem yeah give me some sunshine i landed super awkward on like a square edge rock almost burped the front i was trying super hard not to break and uh break traction oh wow i remember this from eric's video bcpov that's gonna be so tough to hang that left i'll give it a try but i mentally i don't see that that high speed tech is so good that's so tough i got it kind of i think it counts i was a little out of control oh god almost went over the bars oh jesus take the wheel oh it's left got that super speed going is this still the trail yet side edges so nasty okay it's very confusing i see it now okay yeah where am i going this way now i need that high vis yellow i can't believe i got the entire last line right there that was cool oh neat wow hey yeah follow the skid marks oh man don't want to lose your brakes on this one oh i have taken the wrong path oh there we go oh i like to stop and regroup but it was just too good got to keep flowing on trail forks this is a pro line aka triple black diamond and i'm not seeing it i see the deadliness and like why you would make it that to discourage tourists to come try to be heroes but so far it's been pretty solid and amazing double black diamond but there's no six foot drops or anything else that really out of this world as i clench my buttocks through there whoever discovered that line created that line maintains that line is a friggin hero in my book that is absolutely the king of the double black diamonds that's so good oh dude most trails like that last two minutes or something yeah but that one just went and kept going that is amazing amazing all right i think the best course of action for someone who's not sure what kind of trails they could actually ride you go to the whistler bike park you stay at whistler you do some of the surrounding whistler trails and you'll get a pretty good idea of what a real black diamond trail looks like and then a insane double black diamond trail and if you can ride those in whistler you could pretty much ride anything.
**The Pinnacle of Mountain Biking**
The best part about whistler is if you're not feeling your skills you can still have what the heck is this you can still go on the green park trails and the blue park trails you can still have a great vacation whereas other different places you go and you're like eh that was okay but if you can't ride the really tough trails and you're not gonna have a great day oh so nice to be done and not have to pedal back to town. Got a cold one for you oh yes cheers to that what an absolute adventure today was holy moly after the ride we went to fiesta mexicana my favorite mexican food place in moab i got the sizzling beef fajitas aaron got the pollo baracho i believe it was and we are very satisfied after this day i would say those first few trails were actually worse than i expected way more flat way more just kind of pedaling along doing nothing and then once we hit that double black diamond gold bar single track that was more on the edge with all the crazy up and down double black even though it was a traverse it was fantastic way better than i thought it would be and then portal was better than i thought it would be i don't know what i was expecting but kind of like total oh my god it's so gnarly you're gonna die kind of stuff and that is possible but just a perfect insane double black this ride definitely deserves to be on the trail one list extreme fun crazy bucket list material for sure always hesitant to put a double black diamond trail on the trail one list but it is what it is you have to figure out if you're an expert level rider or not it's up to you hangover is a crazy trail that i put on the trail one list and you can get into trouble on that but i can't stop myself from putting amazing rides on the list even though a couple people are gonna probably hurt themselves but many more people are gonna have a really really fun time and this is the pinnacle of mountain biking we've got more to come from the moab trip there's another video on aaron's channel tomorrow or very soon i'm not exactly sure how this is all going to play off but we're going to try to rotate my channel his channel my channel his channel so we got an adventure tomorrow but until then thanks for watching you guys i'll see you on the trail bye
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enoh it is a beautiful day in moab utah and it's finally the day that i'm gonna ride portal trail but there is quite a lot of riding before we even get to portal trail we're on getaway right now and we're gonna look for bull run they call this magnificent seven but by my count we're only going to do five trails today i don't know where the other two are got the full face helmet on today oh my shorts was oh that was your butt that was my butt on the bike blow his shorts right off yeah that would make for a good video my dropper post went down a little faster than i expected skidmark this is aaron from mtv being adventures up ahead we rode porcupine rim yesterday and he had the video on his channel go over check it out it was a ton of fun we had some snow and ice looking like we'll be very clean today portal trail is very notorious it's one of those handful of trails where it's scary people have died on it and mountain bikers love it i've watched a couple videos of people riding it it never really does it justice so who knows really what we're getting into but i know it'll be techy and tough my confidence is feeling pretty good right now we took the shuttle from moab cyclery up here they weren't gonna run it if only two of us were are gonna go and one other person joined so they ran out we would have paid for another seat just to make it possible still very early season where there isn't a million people out yet oh this trail is actually where i recorded my first ever mountain bike video and uploaded it to youtube but it was not on the bkxc channel i had a gopro hero 2 or something like that looks awful sounds awful yeah that's it right there nice work follow the dots it's never good when you've ridden a trail a few times and you can only remember one thing on the whole thing we've probably already gone 10 miles wow this is cool yes i've been waiting for that whole day i think my back tire hit my seat made a noise i'd never heard before okay gold bar whoa that was had a one-way ticket into the dirt right there moab is a pretty dangerous place it's very easy to watch all the videos and be like oh yeah fantasize about the trails and really want to go do something but man you really got to do your research and basically try to get here and do some kind of qualifying ride yeah i don't know you got to figure it out for yourself because it is wicked hard and it can be wicked hot and uh many many people get on the shuttle and think that they're gonna have a good day and end up having a terrible day where is this so this next piece is going to be all new to me normally when i've done this ride i've exited here gone down the terrible sandy dirt road so instead we're headed to portal but we still got a little bit more to go gold bar oh yeah just up left here whoa dude finally one of them got me it's a huge timing factor yeah very cool more power more better there sure are a lot of yellow markings it's as if they're trying to distract you from something else going on over here oh dude nice that's a win i've never seen anything like that we just finished the gold bar single track now we're going to be on the gold bar four by four road which i think is going to be punishing how's it going howdy oh where's the line all right so i think we're going left i didn't kick around enough gold bar waterfall i definitely remember this take your jeep down at your apparel careful that last one's a doozy if i remember right no problem my bike feels good yeah mine is rolling it's all about them carving bars baby trail one components oh cool the jacket and the gloves had to come off for better evaporation i can take the van up this i got new tires you gonna bring your cyber truck out here when you get one oh yeah got to put it through the test and then when i break down out here other people laugh at me soybean trucks sucks oh man we're getting beat up oh man i don't know where i'm going oh oh wow oh bro please don't get any closer that doesn't look good though this is the entrance i think is this one real entrance no no do portal oh my god brian that's your indication of how much walking you're going to be doing fortunately i think that's one of the tougher ones on goldbar it's like the gut checker gold bar rim single track double black this technical move represents the level of trail difficulty for the next six miles there's no bailout option along the route heard his butt hit yeah the saddle holding on the brakes on that turn gonna do a hard weird left or right yep oh my god janky i don't see it there it is invisible oh this is my style right here oh front dinger sure there'll be a couple more of them hopefully no soul dingers so it took about 16 miles to get to the good stuff that's pain and pleasure but hopefully the good stuff will be better than good because everything else was okay a little boring oh it was to the left i went the wrong way we were smart enough to park the van at the bottom of this because if you take the shuttle and then ride back to town it's another eight miles back to town from the bottom of this forget that when you think it's over it's just begun control i hear some motor vehicles right in front of us active and engaging made it through clean no pedal strikes there was a million pedal strikes on the rock oh not easy and more on the left there yeah oh man that was a little wonky probably could have powered outside to end not today oh yeah the scarier the better at this point i'll probably eat my words here in a minute but good challenges so far we've got to be getting close to portal now because there's not much ahead of us it's a clip what the hell look at this scary scary oh that wore me out if i do this again i'm gonna hitchhike inside of a jeep or a side by side get shuttled up to over there and still be able to do all this and then down to portal wow so nice right here there's no wind roll down that middle rock big rock big rock oh dang it i totally dude i rolled down that other part right there yeah that was almost a bad news bears i think the straight line is going to be the easy one just got to be able to have some speed it'll be a clunker yeah oh yeah brian good work really nice that's pretty sick yeah so far this has been an amazing challenge meeting up perfectly with where i am with my skills and comfort zone and pushing it just a little bit further coming in hot that was a hell of a tight spot oh yeah yeah oh man we have put in the miles here we go it's portal time one of the few trails in the world that i've heard a ton about and seen videos and finally see it with my own two eyes hmm okay so this is the area that it says please dismount oh wow i see why i could see uh it's not that crazy but that's what everyone says oh i could ride it yeah this is so tough and it's so easy to get bucked on over even right here just a little mistakes oh that's crazy oh yeah i'll do one foot out for that for respect what the heck is this now this is the one riders just like you trying to get up and over that rock right there oh man i see it because it's totally ridable it's like no come on what's the problem then boom it's good to still have something in the world that doesn't have a guard rail we gotta be able to be a little wild peek-a-boo hey with a little bit of sun now this is like massive gnar okay oh a little too slow no problem yeah give me some sunshine i landed super awkward on like a square edge rock almost burped the front i was trying super hard not to break and uh break traction oh wow i remember this from eric's video bcpov that's gonna be so tough to hang that left i'll give it a try but i mentally i don't see that that high speed tech is so good that's so tough i got it kind of i think it counts i was a little out of control oh god almost went over the bars oh jesus take the wheel oh it's left got that super speed going is this still the trail yet side edges so nasty okay it's very confusing i see it now okay yeah where am i going this way now i need that high vis yellow i can't believe i got the entire last line right there that was cool oh neat wow hey yeah follow the skid marks oh man don't want to lose your brakes on this one oh i have taken the wrong path oh there we go oh i like to stop and regroup but it was just too good got to keep flowing on trail forks this is a pro line aka triple black diamond and i'm not seeing it i see the deadliness and like why you would make it that to discourage tourists to come try to be heroes but so far it's been pretty solid and amazing double black diamond but there's no six foot drops or anything else that really out of this world as i clench my buttocks through there whoever discovered that line created that line maintains that line is a friggin hero in my book that is absolutely the king of the double black diamonds that's so good oh dude most trails like that last two minutes or something yeah but that one just went and kept going that is amazing amazing all right i think the best course of action for someone who's not sure what kind of trails they could actually ride you go to the whistler bike park you stay at whistler you do some of the surrounding whistler trails and you'll get a pretty good idea of what a real black diamond trail looks like and then a insane double black diamond trail and if ride we went to fiesta mexicana my favorite mexican food place in moab i got the sizzling beef fajitas aaron got the pollo baracho i believe it was and we are very satisfied after this day i would say those first few trails were actually worse than i expected way more flat way more just kind of pedaling along doing nothing and then once we hit that double black diamond gold bar single track that was more on the edge with all the crazy up and down double black even though it was a traverse it was fantastic way better than i thought it would be and then portal was better than i thought it would be i don't know what i was expecting but kind of like total oh my god it's so gnarly you're gonna die kind of stuff and that is possible but just a perfect insane double black this ride definitely deserves to be on the trail one list extreme fun crazy bucket list material for sure always hesitant to put a double black diamond trail on the trail one list but it is what it is you have to figure out if you're an expert level rider or not it's up to you hangover is a crazy trail that i put on the trail one list and you can get into trouble on that but i can't stop myself from putting amazing rides on the list even though a couple people are gonna probably hurt themselves but many more people are gonna have a really really fun time and this is the pinnacle of mountain biking we've got more to come from the moab trip there's another video on aaron's channel tomorrow or very soon i'm not exactly sure how this is all going to play off but we're going to try to rotate my channel his channel
