As I walked into this room, I couldn't help but notice that it was completely different from what our client had envisioned. The yellow and golden floor and walls seemed to clash with each other, creating a jarring contrast that was off-putting. However, I saw an opportunity to transform this space without breaking the bank. Our client had mentioned that they didn't have the money to refinish the floors, but I believed that the current color actually looked better when viewed in its current state. The light and airy feel of the room was exactly what our client needed, and with a little creativity, we could make it work.

One of the key decisions we made was to paint the walls a lighter color to complement the existing floor. This would not only create a calming atmosphere but also help to mask any imperfections in the flooring. We chose a soothing shade that would provide a serene backdrop for our client's furniture and decor. By painting over the existing floor, we were able to avoid the high cost of refinishing or replacing it entirely. money well today we're going to prove that you can do amazing things even if you are working on a tight budget this week we are heading over to my client's home this is Jennifer you may actually recognize her because she's been helping us make over the rooms in her brother's home this week it is her turn finally she has been begging me to come over and tell her what to do with her living room she is totally stuck she absolutely hates the color on the walls I tried to tell her that it was cozy she's having nothing of it she hates the color she hates the Golden Tones she's craving something light and Airy and this color is not doing it to make matters worse Jennifer has also been leaving the color and trying to fix the furniture around the room which ultimately has left her with a room that just doesn't work there's a couple other things that I've noticed about Jennifer's room that I feel need to be fixed while we're fixing some other things and I would add on getting the big TV that's really awkward out of the corner out of that room they don't even use that room to watch TV they want to have a homework room and a reading room so they don't even need that and the outlets being a different color from the wall just drives me crazy so we're just going to we're just going to Spruce this place up and make it look amazing and we're going to do it on a budget but before we get too far into this story let's jump over and hear from Jennifer all right well hello we get to see you at your house I'm so excited thank you so much for having us oh we are so excited thank you I think I'm excited because I'm like oh my gosh we've got a new room to do I'm just so excited we've had some fun doing your brother's house but it's your turn I don't feel like the color is like super offensive I know for you oh it is to me it is very and it's a very rainy day rain day in Georgia uh but I do feel like it does have a coziness to it uh but I know it's those gold kind of undertone beiges that so many people that have been living in them just kind of hate so that was probably the original reason you brought me over I took a video for a happy birthday video with the kids singing and I was like we are living in a yellow house like between the floors and the coal I was like this has got to go like it literally looked like a little yellow submarine or something so I like we're going to change we're going to leave the floor cuz the floors are in such good shape but I do think that we can lighten it a lot let's talk about the things that you really aren't in love we already know the paint color and some of the Furnishings like what isn't working for you in here so I feel like it's like if you took each piece like that was from an estate sale from RH great right like that's an awesome piece there's a letter a um words for Jack great like this is oh I just love you just a little extra so but like every piece is like really awesome but like and this is a Pottery Barn sofa we found but like it does it clashes like I I can even see it's like warm cool or whatever like it's not quite working and I don't know what to do with the gold and I can't take anything off the walls because I don't have the color match so I can't I put those up like 11 years ago and they've been stuck cuz you can't cuz there are holes in the wall up there you know and so it's kind of you just get stuck you guys like to sit in this room like as a family cuz I noticed that you do have a TV um does that need to stay cuz it's kind of awkward how big it is I'm just being honest we're friends right still friends it doesn't it doesn't need to stay okay wait till everybody else watches this and they'll be like what well we might be able to put a smaller TV in so I might incorporate that in if you guys do like to watch TV in here sometimes we don't have anything very interesting to watch CU we don't have cable but just sometimes we'll watch we'll pull up a big viewing party so I love it I mean honestly we're huge readers so like you can find me here in the evening reading and things like that so okay well it sounds like we've got some work to do okay I'm going to get back to my office and I'm going to draw an amazing amazing plan for your space I'm ready to get started you all right give you hug I'm so exced good that'll be really nice let's go all right so clearly we have some problems to fix in Jennifer's room so let's start picking up furn wait what no guys one of the biggest mistakes that we make when we are putting together our spaces is that we jump right to the furniture so before we can even jump into anything else we got to come up with the color palette this is going to guide all of our decisions going forward so for Jennifer she wants something light and Airy but I feel like she needs a little bit of edginess so we are going to be sticking to a palette of warm Grays creamy beiges soft whites and a little sharpness brought in through little touch of soft black layering up this room finally finally get into the furniture right well in enters article article is my go-to source for modern furniture that is incredible quality beautiful modern pieces and also amazing amazing prices I love the fact that you can have it delivered right to your door you can have it delivered inside the door and my favorite is that you can have it delivered in the door and they will assemble it and and discard all of the boxes and everything else so that all you are left with is gorgeous pieces so I'm excited to share how article has helped us create the dream room for our client and I always like to start with the rug because if you do not have a rug in your room it's like having a hamburger without the bun it's just missing something okay is it tasty yes but it's missing something the rug really anchors the entire design articles very kindly sent us the Murray rug which has this gorgeous gray and creamy white checkered design on it it's a stunning rug and it's going to Anchor the room and it's going to help us bring the color palette to Life Next I've added in the penny sofa I love these taupey beige tones I love the little wood base and of course that rounded shape I also love the fact that that fabric is made of bouay which is really durable because our client does have three kids and she likes to Foster dogs I've added in the ever's chair I love this in the white Bay again that rounded shape it's got this sculptural feel and it's going to be perfect because the minute you walk in the door and turn the corner you're going to get this wow factor with the backs of those chairs it's a little bit like a stiletto it's just got this really nice design down the back and it is stunning now we've got all these gorgeous stunning pieces coming into this room of course we need a coffee table that gives us the boldness that we're craving and yet again article has come through with the fortra coffee table this piece is stunning it's going to help us pull in the color of of the floor into the rest of the room I love the fluting on this one I love that pill oval shape of it and I also love the fact that it's got some storage on it and sometimes the family wants to really Gather in the space so the Pika ottoman is perfect again made of B clay are we noticing a trend I've gone for hyper durable materials but those little Ottomans can add a little bit of seating into a space finally we need some side tables because if you're going to enjoy the space you're going to want to have a beverage in the room and sometimes the coffee table is just not enough so we've added in two of the ozetta tables these are perfect again just playing up all the sculptural feels making such a high impact with each one of these pieces those have such a gorgeous texture to them and they are stunning they're going to help us give structure to the room and simultaneously also give them a place to sit down their drinks now we've dealt with one side of the room let's deal with the other side of the room what are they going to be looking at well I've decided to go ahead and take the TV out they were debating whether they would eventually want a TV back in the room so I told them just go ahead and leave the uh leave the hardware in the wall and we will cover it with art so if we're going to add art in here we're also going to need a little table to go underneath it the Loro console table is perfect for this job it brings in a little bit of the black that we will have throughout the design I use this piece all the time because I love the marble on the top I love that powder coated metal and I also love the fact that it's a very slim profile which gives us enough Walking room in the space so that we can have a table over there but we can also move around without bumping into things it also gives us a great place to be able to add a little bit of lighting so I'm going to add in the Truro table lamp that one is made of travertine and it is gorgeous I love it again sculptural noticing a trend here now a couple last flow finishing touches I need some planters we need some Greenery in here and we need some accessories so uh article has also hooked us up with the rehea planter and the tuba planter these two are going to help this design come to life we're going to add Greenery and then we're going to accessorize this space we're going to be doing it on a budget but make sure you check out the article pieces they have incredible choices and I have loved working with them so I will leave all the paint can completely transform a space so we have taken this color down from baseboards all the way up to crown molding sealing Windows everything and the effect is powerful it really this feels like a completely different house a completely different room and what I love about it is that our client didn't have the money to refinish these floors but if you ask me the floors already look better they just look like the color is really light and I feel like actually this color is making quite a comeback so I think actually the combination really works when you see all the furniture pieces that are going to be going into this I think you're going to know yes this is going to be amazing all put together and it just makes sense so if you have a flooring color that you're not maybe you're not in love love with or you feel like it doesn't go with everything in your space you may need to consider changing the wall color rather than the floors cuz this is way cheaper to paint the room out like thank you braces I know it is a lot but yeah yes and we will keep everything like this yes and it's just has elegant but still luxurious minimal cozy yes and minimal luxurious both of those yes very much I I really really love it so glad I really really do yeah the color looked extra pretty the chairs too they're like so here you said that one I'll okay this is how we can hang out so we all right let's enter the room okay okay back up and like you come in our house and it's just look at what you see that's our house yeah that's your house that gorgeous so I was able to use a few of your own things so we we've kept that budget almost to nothing it's almost nothing especially since article kindly sent us the F thank you article yeah and Valentina and Jack and family because it's a family thing it is so yeah so uh once they sent that furniture in that rug it made it really easy we included a few of the things you already had I mean we like a few hundred bucks total like for the entire room that's amazing yes oh my goodness cuz I know you're worried to like I don't have thousands of dollars and I'm like thank you braces I know it is a lot but yeah yes and we will keep everything like this yes and it's just has elegant but still luxurious minimal cozy yes and minimal luxurious both of those yes very much I I really really love it so glad I really really do yeah the color looked extra pretty the chairs too they're like so here you said that one I'll okay this is how we can hang out so we might be over and we'll hang out we'll go walk can you believe jie did that oh my gosh I feel like we nailed it that is proof that even when you're working on a budget you can do incredible things with your space I love the result I hope you do as well we've got an entire
