$0.50 Screen Protector vs $55 Sapphire Protector DROP Test!

Testing Screen Protectors: A Comprehensive Review

To determine the effectiveness of different screen protectors, I conducted an experiment with various models. The goal was to assess their durability and ability to withstand drops, scratches, and other forms of damage.

One of the first screen protectors I tested was a $25 model. Upon initial inspection, I noticed that it was made of plastic, which made me skeptical about its ability to provide adequate protection. Additionally, there were fine scratches visible on the surface, suggesting that it may not be as durable as advertised. However, the manufacturer claimed that it was self-healing, so I decided to leave it for a few seconds to see if it would repair itself.

Unfortunately, my concerns about the $25 screen protector were confirmed when I dropped it from waist height. The impact caused chips on the side of the phone, and the plastic material began to show signs of wear and tear. While not entirely ineffective, this screen protector failed to impress me.

Next, I tested a more expensive option that claimed to be 50 cents. This model was also made of plastic, but it seemed sturdier than the previous one. However, after just one drop, the screen protector cracked underneath the glass surface. The damage was extensive, with chips and hairline cracks visible on the phone's display.

The $55 Smackdown 3 screen protector was my next test subject. I applied it to a phone and dropped it from waist height. To my surprise, the impact caused no significant damage to the screen protector. However, when I repeated this process at head height, the results were drastically different. The screen protector cracked underneath the glass surface just like the 50-cent model.

I replaced the $55 Smackdown 3 screen protector with another 50-cent model and tested it again from waist height. This time, the impact caused only minor scuffs on the phone's display. While not ideal, this screen protector seemed to be more durable than its cheaper counterparts.

To further test the durability of the 50-cent screen protectors, I applied them to phones with different drop tests. The results were striking: one model cracked underneath the glass surface after a single drop, while another model showed signs of wear and tear after repeated drops.

However, when it came time to test more expensive models from 3M (3, 2, 1), the results changed dramatically. These screen protectors claimed to be scratch-resistant, but my tests revealed otherwise. The glass surface was vulnerable to scratches and chips, despite its claims of being unscratchable.

In conclusion, while some screen protectors may seem effective at first glance, they can actually be quite ineffective when subjected to real-world testing. The most expensive models often come with the highest price tags but don't necessarily provide better performance. I would recommend opting for a more affordable option that has been tested and proven to be effective.

As a final test, I attempted to break one of the $55 Smackdown 3 screen protectors by applying pressure and force. To my surprise, it didn't break easily, despite being made of plastic. However, when I tore it in half, I discovered that there was no glass element present. This raised more questions than answers about the composition and effectiveness of this particular model.

In my opinion, this screen protector is overpriced and not worth the money. A cheaper alternative would be a better choice for consumers who want to protect their phones without breaking the bank.

and I've always wanted to so the world's most expensive screen protector made by zag made with sapphire infused crystals on this display it's supposed to be seven times more Shadow resistant versus your screen they say virtually indestructible now let's compare this to a brand you can find in the depths of the Chinese interwebs this is a 50 Cent screen protector that's made of tempered glass now I cannot tell you how many times I go through these um in a month maybe like two to three I break them I chip them just in the randomest times so these are on the complete opposite spectrums of screen protectors 50 cents versus $55 also in between wanted to throw in a 20 to $25 uh plastic screen protector this one is made by Tech 21 to see how they compare so we're going to be testing scratch resistance and shatter resistance on the iPhone 7 6 S6 they're all the same anyways let's get to it this product contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer it might protect your iPhone but it'll give you cancer while doing it h so here it is it's an innocuous looking package but inside the world's most expensive screen protector period so wow very nice premium feeling package does it justify the cost probably not but it has this mat feeling to it so that's nice at least all right so I've got an iPhone uh 7 here this is my jet black from earlier tests I've got a screen protector on it now plastic one but I'm going to go ahead and peel that off and replace it with this shiny new one all right so setting that aside let's go ahead and tear into here and dig it out sappire screen protector thank you your phone yes because my phone only demands the most premium of screen protectors all right oh it's got those nice tabs this is honestly my favorite way to install screen protectors it's the absolute easiest can't say I feel anything special about it it's definitely thinner than a glass screen protector it's very flexible actually wow most glass screen protectors aren't like that so for comparison here is my eBay brand or China brand offbrand screen protectors so pop one out and uh they're nowhere near as flexible if I bend past this it will snap so not very much Flex there and this one wow that is quite impressive actually hope I don't break it seems pretty flexible all right so setting this down here but yeah that was pretty easy to install it um got to get all these little bubbles out of here peeling this back takes the yellow with it and look at that that pristine screen and I'm going to go ahead and install the other screen protector and see how they do in a fingerprint smudge test all right fingerprints so one juicy one here and one juicy one here so wow that's quite impressive so it's a little hard to see but there is definitely more residue left on the glass one than this one and I'm going to try with you know multiple fingers here just touch it smear my oils all over it all right and what do we got so this one definitely has more this one has very little visible I'd say even a third of that one that's quite impressive so yeah their claims are true when it comes to uh fingerprint smudges definitely more visible on uh glass but how's the scratch resistance all right so first test is scratch resistance here's $50 20 and 50 so one at a time we're going to pop them in here they're in perfect shape right now but we got an assortment of metal junk in there this is jet black too so it means a lot to be scratch resistant all right so wiping this down wow that is a ton of scratches it says it's self-healing so let's set this aside for a few seconds and see how it does does not not look good for that one all right mid-range 20 to $25 screen protector all right it's absolutely filthy Rusty and this is plastic so I feel like this one wouldn't do well also uh quite scratched yeah a lot of fine scratches in there but this is self-healing also so let's leave it for a few seconds lastly is the glass one I find these to be you know very very unscratchable takes a lot to scratch it so 50 cents all right took a tumble in those and it looks brand new like nothing happen so glass definitely does have the advantage of being scratch resistant but let's take a look at these again it's hard to see for you guys but I see a lot of fine scratches in there definitely that would hinder my experience so their claim of being scratch resistant isn't really substantiated here a lot of scratches I can see all right let's move on to the shock resistance all right let's start from waist height most expensive to least expensive $55 Smackdown 3 2 1 this is uh $25 3 2 1 and glass 50 cents 3 two one oh not boating well for this one ouch chips on the side of the phone in the glass already that's not good it's broken up here and a hairline crack in there so 50 cents all it took was one drop and it's gone so that's 50 cents tally right there this one is plastic so obviously I don't expect anything bad but there are scuffs here that would make it a little difficult to use starting to get scratched up but not too bad this one oh man so when you damage this one it doesn't crack but look at that it starts getting these bubbles in there that cannot go away all on this side and look at all those scrap es all those hairline scratches starting to feel like I got Bamboozled with this price tag damn all right I'm not liking it but it can go on let's replace the 50 Cent one and go to head height that's pretty crazy 50 cents and this thing got cracked in two separate areas I've actually never seen damage like this with this kind of screen protector so the price of the screen protector really does make a difference here all right so we've got chips here here chips here from one waist height drop that's ridiculous we'll just replace it with another 50 Cent screen protector as these seem to be disposable and once again from most to least expensive at head height I'll try and do it face down exactly so uh 3 two one ooh nice impact there medium 3 2 1 and a brand new glass screw protector 3 2 1 all right we've got them all fac down here so oh my goodness that's it are you serious okay I see what's going on here the screen actually broke underneath the glass so that is ridiculous they advertise the glass as being seven times more scratch resistant than the screen but not that it'll protect it seven times more than a regular screen protector all right looking at this one wow same thing cracked underneath the glass that is ridiculous so um the the glass The scoon Protector itself is virtually unharmed as advertised so they're not technically lying and this one holy crap I just broke three so this one is broken on top and on the bottom so all right I guess that concludes this test whichever screen protector you have it doesn't really matter I mean the screen protector will be fine but the impact it can only go so far you know disperse so much through this and it ends up in the display and cracks it regardless so I guess the moral of the story here is the screen protector that you buy does matter but don't spend too much money because it really doesn't matter if you drop your phone hard enough it'll still break underneath that screen protector so as a final little test I wanted to see can this thing actually break on its own so it feels like plastic but they say there's sapphire in it just want to see yeah that's I don't know how the heck they got Sapphire on here but it doesn't seem to be made of any sort of glass all right so trying to break it this way yeah definitely not a glass screen protector and from what I can tell hybrid glass there doesn't seem to be any glass element to this it folds like plastic uh yeah a little weird here a little sketchy okay so I just tore it in half where exactly is the sapphire so there's two layers here one plastic and this is more plastic so where exactly is the sapphire I'm a little confused here h is this worth $55 in my eyes absolutely not this is the most overpriced screw protector for defense you can get from a much cheaper one anyways guys thanks for watching hope you guys enjoyed this little video something different
