Using the Note 8 Under Water

**Using Your Phone Underwater: A Guide**

When it comes to using your phone underwater, most people assume that it's impossible due to water damage concerns. However, with the right features and settings, you can capture high-quality videos and photos even when submerged in water. In this article, we'll show you how to use your Note 8 underwater using a feature called Interaction Control.

**Enabling Interaction Control**

To start using Interaction Control on your Note 8, press and hold the power button and volume up button simultaneously for two seconds. This will enable the feature, which allows you to record videos while underwater without touching the screen. Once enabled, go back into the camera app and click on the settings icon. Scroll down to the bottom of the menu and select "Volume Key Functions." Here, you can adjust the behavior of your volume key to either take a picture or start recording a video.

**Configuring Volume Key Functions**

To record videos underwater, you'll want to set your volume key to "Record Video." This will allow you to press the volume up button to start and stop recording. Make sure you're in landscape mode, as this is essential for capturing clear footage. Once you've configured your volume key functions, go back to the main settings menu and enable Interaction Control again by pressing and holding the power button and volume up button simultaneously for two seconds.

**Using Interaction Control**

With Interaction Control enabled, you can now put your phone underwater and record videos as desired. Simply press the volume up button to start recording, and then release it when you're finished. The phone will automatically stop recording and return to normal operation mode. You can repeat this process as many times as you want, without worrying about damaging your phone.

**Tips for Using Your Phone Underwater**

Before using your phone underwater, make sure to enable Interaction Control and configure your volume key functions accordingly. Also, be aware that water acts as a magnifier when submerged, so objects may appear larger than they do on land. To avoid any issues, scoot back slightly to ensure you have a clear view of the subject.

**Cleaning Your Phone After Use**

When you're finished using your phone underwater, it's essential to clean it out thoroughly to prevent water damage. Tap the bottom of the phone on a rag or cloth to remove excess water, and then inspect the charging port for any signs of moisture. If there is water in the port, use fresh water to rinse it out before attempting to charge your phone.

**S-Pen Compatibility**

You can also use your S-Pen with your phone underwater. However, make sure to dry it out thoroughly after use to prevent damage. Additionally, be aware that using your phone in saltwater may cause issues due to the potential for salt buildup in the microphone and speaker.

**Important Safety Notes**

When using your phone underwater, there are a few important safety notes to keep in mind. First, make sure you're not touching any electrical components or ports with water. Additionally, if you use your phone in saltwater, be aware that it may cause damage over time. To avoid any issues, only use fresh water and make sure to dry out your phone thoroughly after each use.

**Conclusion**

Using your phone underwater is now possible thanks to Interaction Control on your Note 8. By following these simple steps and tips, you can capture high-quality videos and photos even when submerged in water. Remember to always clean your phone after use, be aware of the potential risks associated with saltwater, and dry out your S-Pen regularly to ensure optimal performance.

fault and the water damage is not covered under warranty I cannot be held liable for effects to your phone proceed at your own risk hey everybody welcome to tech with Brett where I help tech work for you and in today's video we're gonna dive deep and show you how you can use the note 8 underwater to take pictures and videos the note 8 has an IP 68 certification which means that the phone is dust proof and water resistant for 5 feet up to 30 minutes that's when you're using it in fresh water so as long as you follow those guidelines and Samsung has a few more guidelines that you can look up in the description below but you should be protected and the phone has been sealed so that nothing should happen to your phone let's swim back home real quick and I'll show you how to do this so first when you want to go to the camera in your phone all you need to do is tap the power button twice that will jump right into the camera and by default the volume button is already set to take a picture so when you press the volume button it will snap a photo so all you have to do place the phone under water press the volume button and boom it will instantly snap a photo now when your screen gets wet and you pull the phone out of water sometimes it is hard to interact with your phone so another option is you may want to go into the settings of your device and turn on voice commands so here in your camera you just click the settings and then you go down to the bottom here and you turn on voice control when you have this then you can say smile choose capture shoot record video and that will automatically start recording a video so now when you record video underwater there are a few things that you want to do because whenever you put the phone underwater it's automatically going to either start recording stop recording maybe zoom in and out because the water acts as many different points of touch so to prevent that is what we're going to do is go into our phone settings so here I'm going to click home I'm going to pull down my notification panel and click settings here in the top right of the phone and then I'm to go down and go to the accessibility features once you go in here look for dexterity and interaction when you open this up at the very bottom here on my phone I have interaction control so interaction control allows you to make it so you can't touch a portion of your screen so that when the phone is underwater the phone can't touch any portion of the screen and I'll still be able to record a video so here it will tell you how to use that and to turn it on you hold down the volume up and the power button for two seconds then it will turn it on and you will hit and able so let's show you how that's done so now it's saying what portion of the screen do you want to lock and then down here you have a few other options you can say block the whole screen and under the options you can say still allow the power key and the volume key and you want to go in here and make sure you turn on the volume key so then we can go back and let's say I block the whole screen and I hit done and now you can't touch any part of the screen to turn that off I just hold down the volume up and the power button for two seconds and then it will turn that off so now the next step is going back into the camera then we want to click on the settings and we want to go down to the bottom here and we want to go to volume key functions so previously we had that set so it would take a picture when we were under the water but now we want to record a video so I'm gonna click record video so now when I press the volume key it's going to record that videos so now we're just about ready to go underwater here we are in the camera we are in the landscape mode so everything is oriented this way we've gone into settings change our volume button to record a video now we just need to turn on interaction control so again hold down the power and the volume up for two seconds the first time you do this it will give you options like do you want to enable it and it will disable all these functions you want to say yes here I have my whole screen blocked and then I'm going to click done now I can put my phone underwater and as soon as I'm ready to record I just you need to push the volume key so volume up or volume down that will then begin recording and now when I want to stop I press it again and it will stop and I can do that over and over again so now let's go into the water and check out how this looks so now here we put our phone in water I have the interaction control on I just need to press the volume key and start recording now I have this crisp clear video underwater and it will record as long as I want to or up to thirty minutes then I push the button again and it will stop recording when I'm ready to use my phone again all I need to do is hold down the volume up and the power button for two seconds it will remove the interaction control and now I can continue to use my phone like normal now if you don't have interaction control on you may be able to record the video but sometimes it will automatically start to zoom in and out here you can see the video it's super crisp and clear sometimes if an object's too close it may struggle focusing you should remember when you're in water the water acts as a magnifier so things will appear a little bit bigger and so you may need to scoot back a little bit so that you have a nice clear picture once you are done using your phone in the water tap the bottom of the phone out onto a rag so here we want to tap where the charging port is and the speaker to get any excess water out and then we also want to check in the s-pen you can use the phone in water with or without the s-pen just make sure you kind of dry out the s-pen when you're done when your phone to text water it will give you a notification saying water has been detected in the charging port make sure it is dried out before you plug in the charger if you do plug in the charger you'll get this other notification saying that your charger has not been fully dried out that's why one great option is to get a wireless charger so if there is water in the port all you need to do is place your phone on top and it will automatically begin charging and you don't have to worry about plugging in a cable into the charging port it is recommended that you only use the phone in a freshwater if you use it in salt water there may be salt the gets into the microphone and the speaker so make sure you wash it out in fresh water before there is any damage caused to your device I hope you guys enjoyed this video all about how to use your note 8 underwater if you mean further questions please leave a comment below and if this is your
