Samsung just launched the Galaxy s24 Fe when Samsung first launched an Fe phone the F and the E stood for Fan Edition it doesn't do that anymore but it still kind of carries that with it and I'm left wondering is the Galaxy s24 Fe still something that fans actually want.
Samsung's brought a lot of upgrades to the Galaxy s24 Fe as compared to the Galaxy s23 Fe and also borrowed a lot of features from the Galaxy s24 and s24 plus overall it has basically the same design you still have flat sides you have a glass back and you have a big 6.7 in display with 120 HZ refresh rate it's a really nice phone.
The construction of the phone is also a little bit better on the front and the back we have Gorilla Glass victus plus which is a big step up over the gorilla glass 5 that we had on the front and back of the Galaxy s23 Fe we also have an ip68 rating which you would expect because pretty much every EP phone has had that.
You also have some fun colors here that you can't find on the mainline Galaxy s24 series including blue gray graphite and mint couple of other upgrades that are pretty notable here especially with the camera. The camera is basically the same camera that you find on the s24 and the s24 plus which includes that 50 megap main sensor and a 12 megap Ultra wide.
The telephoto is not quite the same though it has an 8 megapixel sensor instead of the 10 megapixels that you find in in the galaxy s24 and s24 plus you still do get 3x optical zoom though which is a really nice feature even though you're getting it on a less powerful sensor.
There's also a big battery inside here at 4700 milliamp hours but that is a little bit smaller than the Galaxy s24 plus so in other words you're going to get probably a bit better battery life than you do on the s24 but probably not as good as you get on the s24 plus.
There's also been a slight upgrade in video recording this year it now goes to 8K at 30 frames per second if you'll remember the Galaxy s23 Fe confusingly had 8K support but only at 24 frames per second that's fine cuz 24 frames per second is a very cinematic quality to it but most people are going to be much happier with 30 frames per second if you don't care about 8K.
You still have 4K support at both 30 and 60 frames per second the biggest and most controversial change though is the processor here in the United States most Fe phones come with a Qualcomm processor but in the Galaxy s24 Fe we instead had the exos 2400e which is a slight upgrade over the Galaxy s24 and s24 Plus's processor that we saw release outside of the United States.
In other words this is the first time people in the United States are going to buy a Galaxy S product and not get a Qualcomm processor that's something that might not sit well with us Samsung fans and brings me back to my earlier point do Samsung fans really want this.
Yes we're getting a lot of good upgrades we get a stronger construction we get a better camera we have better video quality recording we have a nice big battery a whole bunch of great features that have been added to this phone as compared to last year's model but do Samsung fans really want an exos processor.
Samsung fans here in the United States have always relied on being able to get a Qualcomm processor in their phones and getting exos for the first time might not be what they want this is especially controversial when you remember that this phone is more expensive than the Galaxy s23 Fe this one starts at $649 a $50 increase over last year's model.
Are Samsung fans going to be happy spending more and getting exos instead of qualcom that remains to be seen but people outside of the United States are probably going to love this because it has a lot of the features of the Galaxy s24 Plus in a much cheaper price so they might be happy with upgrading.
But here in the United States this might be a harder sell I'm really interested to see what Samsung fans here in the United States want does this really fit the definition of Fan Edition for you or are you more interested in getting a Galaxy s24 or Galaxy s24 plus and letting this one rot on the vine.
I want to hear what you have to say so jump down in the comments and let me know what you think and in the meantime I will see you in the next video
