iOS 13 - Prepare to Update

**Tips and Tricks for Updating to iOS 13**

When it comes to updating your iPhone to iOS 13, there are several things you can do to make the process smoother and less overwhelming. One important thing to do is to enable iCloud backup before updating. This will ensure that all of your data is backed up safely and can be restored in case anything goes wrong during the update process.

To do this, go to your iPhone's settings, then tap on "iCloud" and make sure that "iCloud Backup" is enabled. Next, tap on "Back Up Now" and wait for the backup process to complete. Make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi and a power source, as this will help ensure that the update process goes smoothly.

Another thing you may want to consider doing before updating to iOS 13 is offloading unused applications. This can help reduce the amount of data that needs to be transferred during the update process. To do this, head over to your iTunes and App Store settings, then turn on "Offload Unused Apps". Leave this setting enabled for at least 24 hours or more before updating, as this will give the app store time to upload any unused applications that you don't use regularly.

**Preparing Your iPhone for iOS 13**

In addition to enabling iCloud backup and offloading unused apps, there are several other things you can do to prepare your iPhone for the update. One important thing is to delete any messages that you won't be meeting in the future. This will help ensure that your messages sync properly with the cloud and don't cause any issues during the update process.

To do this, head over to your Messages app and select the conversation that you want to delete. Tap on "Edit" and then tap on the "Delete" button next to each message that you no longer need. Repeat this process for all of the conversations that you won't be using in the future.

Another thing you may want to consider doing is deleting any photos or videos that you don't need anymore. This will help reduce the amount of data that needs to be transferred during the update process and make it easier for your iPhone to store and retrieve the files after the update.

To do this, head over to your Photos app and select the album that contains the photos or videos that you want to delete. Tap on "Edit" and then tap on the "Delete" button next to each photo or video that you no longer need. Repeat this process for all of the albums that contain photos or videos that you don't need anymore.

**Working with Your iPhone's Files App**

In iOS 13, there is a new feature called the Files app that allows you to access and manage your files on your iPhone directly from within the app. This can be a great way to transfer data between devices and ensure that your files are safely backed up.

To get started with the Files app, simply download and install it on your iPhone. Once installed, open the app and look for the "Recovery Drive" tab. Here, you'll find a thumb drive or USB stick where all of your photos and videos will be saved after updating to iOS 13.

**Transferring Data to Your Recovery Drive**

To transfer data to your recovery drive, simply select all of the files that you want to transfer by tapping on the "Select" button. Then, tap on "Share" and choose the "Recovery Drive" option from the list of available apps. The Files app will then transfer all of the selected files to your recovery drive.

Once the transfer process is complete, your photos and videos should be safely backed up on your recovery drive. You can then use this data to restore your iPhone in case anything goes wrong during the update process.

transition a very smooth now I'm also going to be talking about a few things you can do after you update to iOS 13 so let's begin so first things first when do I expect iOS 13 to be released worldwide you guys continue to ask now first thing I do want to mention is that we do not know if Apple will be releasing iOS 13.0 or 13.1 as the first official major release for iOS this is kind of weird right now we still have thirteen point one beta 2 as well as I was 13 point 0 beta 8 so I'm not sure when Apple will be announcing tomorrow but my predictions on the release date rather as I was 13 point zero or thirteen point one it looks like Apple will most likely announce this on the 16th the week of the 16th no later than the 20th of September we should have iOS 13 or 13 point 1 released to the world and everyone will be able to download it now the first thing you want to do is of course backup your device this is a must of course we already know this we can backup to a physical device like a computer or backup to the cloud but a few things that you may want to consider doing under the iCloud settings if you haven't done that just yet its enabled messages within the clouds but this towel is off you can turn it on and this will guarantee that if anything goes wrong within the updating process from Iowa 12 to Iowa 13 all your messages will be saved in the cloud and when you re log into your device rather is on iOS 12 or iowa's 13 that will populate back into your device and you won't lose your messages so if you don't want to lose your messages make sure you go to iCloud settings and enable this so that you have all your messages sync through all your devices just in case something goes wrong through the update process now I clogged back up this should be on by default this normally backs up your device overnight when connected to Wi-Fi in a power source as well but you can do a physical backup yourself in case you didn't have this option on again you can go to iCloud settings iCloud backup enable it and click backup and make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi and a power source as well another thing you may want to consider doing before updating to iOS 13 is head on over to your iTunes and App Store settings here head on over to offload unused applications turn this on for at least 24 hours to 48 hours before you update what this will do is it will upload any major applications that you're not using for the last two to three days on your device and then it will be less data for the iPhone to have to transfer over or carry over to the new OS remember when we update to a new major version of iOS there's a lot of app compatibility issues so offloading unused apps again this will automatically offload the apps that you don't use as often they're for preserving data while doing the transition no other thing is I do recommend doing is head on over to messages and maybe delete any messages that you won't be meeting so that the messages in the cloud can sync properly and the less data there is to transfer the easier the transition also sit down and take a minute to look at some of your photos and videos and delete everything that you will no longer need make sure you click delete and when you delete them go to albums and then head on over to the actual recently deleted and delete them from the recently deleted is well again less data to transfer the easier the process you can also go over some of your applications and delete any app that you will no longer be needing sometimes we have apps on our iPhone that just sit there taking up space and data so delete those is well now before we do continue with some of these tips I want to give a quick word from our sponsors Squarespace source Prezi is empowering dreamers and makers all
