US Road Trip _ Lap & Braking challenge _ Top Gear

**The Unusual Race at Maroso Motorsports Park: A Thrilling Adventure**

Maroso Motorsports Park, located in America, is a unique destination for racers because of its challenging layout, which includes left-handed turns and some right-handed turns. This complexity might be why the track was deserted; it’s too difficult for the locals or perhaps everyone who tried it met with a tragic end. Whatever the reason, our team was ready to take on the challenge.

The first task was simple: each car had to complete one lap of the track, with a target time of 1 minute and 10 seconds. For every second under the target, points were awarded, and for every second over, points were deducted. However, there was a catch—none of us had ever seen the track before. This made things tricky, as we knew it would be challenging to navigate without prior knowledge.

Our first driver was Big Stig’s American cousin, known only as “the Stig.” He squeezed into a Cadillac and took off. The car was surprisingly slow, reaching 60 mph in 7.9 seconds and topping out at 110 mph due to electronic limitations. Despite its limitations, the Stig managed to complete the lap in 1 minute and 9 seconds on our stopwatch. We weren’t sure if that was good or not.

Next up was Hammond with his “hillbilly mobile,” a pickup truck equipped with a stick shift and overdrive. While it looked promising, it struggled on tight corners. The car’s performance was lackluster, and we were left wondering if it would make it through the course without issues.

The final challenge involved accelerating to 50 mph as quickly as possible and then braking hard before reaching a river filled with alligators. This added an element of danger to the race. Hammond’s truck had trouble stopping, and we feared for his safety as he approached the river. Miraculously, he managed to brake just in time, avoiding both the alligators and certain death.

The day ended with our vehicles surviving their ordeal, but not without a few close calls and plenty of laughs. The experience at Maroso Motorsports Park was unlike any other, combining fast cars, challenging turns, and the constant threat of alligators. We left knowing that we had faced one of the most unusual and thrilling races in America.
