Audio-Technica ATH-CKS50TW - Too Much Bass

**A Review of the Audio-Technica ATH-CKS50 True Wireless Earbuds**

In this review, we take a closer look at the Audio-Technica ATH-CKS50 true wireless earbuds. These earbuds are part of the lower-tier options in Audio-Technica's portfolio, which includes their top-of-the-line models that offer superior sound quality and features.

**Initial Impression**

When I first started using these earbuds, I couldn't help but think that they were okay. They're definitely not top-tier, but they're also not trash. They don't blow me away with their performance, but they get the job done. In terms of sound quality, the bass is good, but it's not too clean or deep. It's just right - not too punchy or overpowering. This makes them a decent option for casual listeners who want a solid pair of earbuds without breaking the bank.

**Bass and Sound Quality**

I spent some time testing out these earbuds with different EQ settings and streaming services to see how they handled bass levels. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the bass was well-balanced, neither too clean nor too muddy. This makes them a great option for music listeners who want to hear their favorite tracks without any distortion or muddiness. However, it's worth noting that the bass isn't going to blow you away - it's just solid and reliable.

**Battery Life and Features**

One of the standout features of these earbuds is their battery life. Audio-Technica claims that they offer up to 24 hours of playback time on a single charge, which is impressive for true wireless earbuds in this price range. I was able to get at least 12 hours of use out of them, and the charging case provides an additional 12 hours of power. This makes them a great option for listeners who want to take their music with them on-the-go without worrying about running out of battery.

**Comparison to Top-Tier Options**

So, how do these earbuds stack up against my top five picks in the true wireless earbuds market? Unfortunately, they don't hold a candle. The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2s are still my number one choice for sound quality and features, followed closely by the Liberty 3 Pro from Beats and the One More Evo. The Nothing Air 1s are also worth considering, offering impressive sound quality and a sleek design. However, these earbuds fall short in several areas - including sound quality, features, and overall value.

**Ranking and Recommendation**

Based on my testing and comparison to top-tier options, I would rank the Audio-Technica ATH-CKS50 true wireless earbuds as follows:

* Sound quality: 6/10

* Features: 5/10

* Battery life: 8.5/10

* Value for money: 4/10

Overall, these earbuds are okay, but they're not worth the $150 price tag. At that price point, there are better options available in the market.

**Conclusion**

In conclusion, while the Audio-Technica ATH-CKS50 true wireless earbuds offer some solid features and a reliable sound quality, they don't hold up to the best of the best in this category. If you're looking for a decent pair of earbuds without breaking the bank, these might be worth considering - but if you want top-tier performance and features, there are better options available.

**Final Thoughts**

As I wrap up my review of the Audio-Technica ATH-CKS50 true wireless earbuds, I'm reminded that sometimes it's okay to settle for "good enough." These earbuds may not blow me away with their sound quality or features, but they're a solid option for casual listeners who want a reliable pair of earbuds without breaking the bank. If you find them on sale for $99 or $79, they might be worth considering - but at $150, I would recommend looking elsewhere in the market.

**The Verdict**

If you're looking for a decent pair of true wireless earbuds that won't break the bank, the Audio-Technica ATH-CKS50 is definitely worth considering. However, if you want top-tier performance and features, there are better options available. With their solid sound quality, reliable battery life, and sleek design, these earbuds offer a great value for money - but at $150, they're not worth the investment.

**The Verdict (Again)**

In conclusion, I would rank the Audio-Technica ATH-CKS50 true wireless earbuds as follows:

* Sound quality: 6/10

* Features: 5/10

* Battery life: 8.5/10

* Value for money: 4/10

Overall, these earbuds are okay - but they're not worth the $150 price tag. If you want top-tier performance and features, there are better options available in the market.

**The Verdict (One More Time)**

If you're looking for a reliable pair of true wireless earbuds that won't break the bank, I would recommend considering other options in this category. However, if you do decide to go with the Audio-Technica ATH-CKS50, just be aware that they're not worth the $150 price tag.

reading some reviews and somebody said these had too much bass so as soon as i read that i had the bodies immediately so at the end of this video i'm gonna answer three questions number one duties have too much bass number two are they worth 150 bucks and number three how did i rank these versus my top five truly wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation for around 150 bucks number one on my list sennheiser cx plus number two the liberty pro threes number three the one more evo buds number four the nothing air ones and number five the galaxy buds pro okay so kennedy's cracked the top five let's find out first things first shout out to white shoes she got the day off all right here we go audio technica now the name is kind of long ath cks 50 tw okay all right nice presentation alert let's see what we got okay here we go i choose you missing out now this is going to be your case now the case is on the big side but 30 hours battery you can't argue with that on the big side giggity all right here we go let's see this is going to be your charging cable okay this is usb type c to usb a let's see what else you get okay now this is going to be your usual books and plug them follow them to the side let's see you got some different size ear tips now let's see okay now just popped out of there okay now these look like the silicone style tips so you got small medium and large okay now i'm gonna follow those into my pocket and get the best fit okay so that's pretty much it now for the earbuds okay now this charging case is a little on the big side but again the battery okay here's how the buds look okay drop them back in the case bomb there it is all right so let me grab a phone we'll pair these up and then i'll start my usual testing talk amongst yourselves all right y'all so we back in first let's take a look at the actual charging case now like i said it's a little bit big if you compare it to the galaxy buds pro you see the size difference but at the same time if you compare it to the bose it's actually smaller but 30 hours battery with the charging case is ridiculous now in the front you got an audio technica logo you got four leds usb type-c charging and that's pretty much it now let's check the magnet strength first we'll start off with minimum shakeage okay no movement intermediate sinkage no movement maximum shake itch no movement at all excellent strength from the magnets all right so now let's take a look at the actual earbuds okay again very big giggity got led lights okay got your buttons for playing pause volume up and down okay right on the side they're multifunctional gold pins on the inside right and left brandon now just for size comparison here's the sennheiser cx plus you see the audio technica's look a lot bigger now the side note i literally just came from the gym i was doing some heavy biceps i'm trying to make this video my hands are shaking like crazy all right anybody that works out y'all know the post workout shakes i got them heavy right now but i'm back in the gym all right so earbuds pretty big now as usual the next thing you want to do is download the audio technica app and make sure you update the firmware alright so now let's take a look at the app now it shows you the name of your earbuds you got a picture of your buds you got your battery percentage for the left and the right it shows your current codecs you can change your eq settings your active noise cancellation settings there's your volume and you also got playing pause skipping reverse tracks now let's check out some of the settings so again you got volume you can cycle through the different codecs you got your ambient sound active noise cancellation or off so right now i got it on head through let's turn on active noise cancellation okay so i just turned on noise cancellation i didn't feel that extra whoosh okay so let's see we'll have to do a little bit more testing now put it on here through this is ambient sound mode and right out of the gate i can tell you the ambient sound mode is not that great okay it's really not that great i'll do some more testing let's see here's your eq okay so you got original bass boost clear vocal you got v shape that's one of my favorites and you got uh treble enhance okay so now i'm going to start off on bass boost okay so you got low latency mode if you want to do some gaming you got left and right balance adjustment you got side tone so this way you can hear more of your voice on a phone call and you got your 360 reality audio simple and straightforward all right so now let's talk about the look the fit and the feel i already got the right size ear tips and as big as these are they actually do fit comfortably you get a nice tight seal and on the side note make sure you got the right size air chips because that's going to give you better active noise cancellation and better sound quality okay let's do the head shake test i'm going to start off with minimum shakeage okay no movement at all intermediate shaking okay no movement maximum shakeage okay no movement so as big as these earbuds are they will not fall out of your ears so that means you can use them in the gym now here's how they look not the most discreet okay kind of on the big side but 20 hours battery keep that in the back of your mind all right so now let's do a sound test alright so i got a classic song queued up we got tiana tella gonna love me featuring method man rayquan and ghostfacekiller which on the side note is one of my birthday songs my birthday is next week so i'm getting in the spirit i'm going to start off with active noise cancellation turned on i got the eq set to v-shaped and max volume all right birdman hands rubbing together do these earbuds have too much bass let's find out one time for playing pause let's get it on okay little voice pop he said play okay oh you gotta love me you're gonna wanna hug me and squeeze me sometimes breathing things that we really don't mean there's everything between the lines once it's improved and say sorry if i made you feel blessed to who you are a little insecure i'll use a shiny star i want to spend my life with you my life with you oh baby please wait up for me tonight i can't get home i know that you're all alone thinking about what we're gonna do i hope that you see it through let's go and oh you're gonna love me you're gonna wanna hug me and squeeze me okay hold on all right hold up now duties have too much bass all right too much bass i'm gonna say no all right let's try something let's hit play on the music let's see okay this is bass boost okay i like v-shaped better clear vocal treble enhanced now that's my v-shape this one sounds the best okay hold up okay let's do a little bass test okay go over to bass boost okay okay it does have bass now i'm not going to say too much bass nah not too much bass monkey they know that all right hold up let's let's say pause okay now i will say this it does have voice prompts so when you pause it it says pause and it takes a second to pause all right so it's not an instantaneous pause and when you hit play it's going to say play and then start playing sound quality on these i would say these sound they sound good all right i'm not going to go crazy these sound good i'm not blown away they definitely don't have too much bass and the bass isn't even that clean and deep and rich now i got to do a little bit more testing i want to try out a few more songs i will say they get nice and loud but these just sound okay they sound okay nothing to write home about the same thing with my original audio technica earbuds i had the same issue there was alright but there wasn't really nothing too crazy like these ain't really nothing too crazy but before i before i give my final verdict let me test a few more songs and let me tell you i paired this up to an iphone let's try different a couple of different streaming services and then we can really see how they sound but as of right now they sound okay just okay let's keep it moving alright so now let's do the reconnection test how long do this take to reconnect to your phone after you take them out and put them in the charging case okay so let's go ahead and drop these in let's make sure it's fully disconnected okay here it goes one mississippi two mississippi three mississippi it said connected okay just like that three mississippis that's pretty good all right so now let's do the one earbud test can you play music from one earbud while the other one is charging up in the case all right so i got the music playing i'm gonna take out the right side drop it in the case the left side is playing okay now let's put the right side back in wait for it to reconnect okay it says battery level medium it just connected now put the left side in close it up the right side is still playing so this is pretty dope you can use these earbuds independently basically doubling your battery life all right so let's check the multi-point connection feature can you pair two devices at the same time got an iphone paired up let's hit play on the music okay the music is playing now let's play on the galaxy okay waiting for it to switch okay now it's playing on the galaxy so multi-point works perfectly fine all right so now let's check the physical buttons for playback controls now on the right side single press for play and pause and it does have voice prompts it said play okay double press to go to the next song okay triple press to go to the previous track okay and long press the cycle between active noise cancellation ambient sound mode and off now on the left side single press for volume up okay double press for volume down okay and you got voice prompts hey siri what's the weather for today okay so all the touch controls work and again you're gonna have to use these little buttons on each side all right so now let's check the call quality i'm gonna call up amaya but before i do that ladies and gentlemen late but still great white shoes is back in the building calm down all right here we go let's dial up amaya okay let's see let's put on the earbuds hi girlie what you doing okay did they hiring minding my business company i'm trying to get a job there too what up are you the ceo of minded the business i respected your wife hold up yo why are you trying to get out of the dinner tonight yeah you know i'm saying i don't want no home cooked food this is my birthday weekend cause y'all all jokes aside all right i'm doing a video i'm testing out some headphones how do they sound sound sound average but clear all right hold up let's do let's do this now do you hear any wind okay what about now oh man yeah i hear it too it's like is it kind of break it up in my ears a little bit when i put the wind too close all right let me turn let me turn this off all right buddy but just oh okay see so you get you rank these from as a c okay okay b minus i just averaged nothing fancy nothing to write home about okay okay okay sounds good all right so um all right let me get back to this video i'm gonna call you back in a minute once i finish all right and and get get a fit ready because i we're not we're not doing the home-cooked meal today we're going outside bro all right can i cook for you for your birthday no no we going outside bro all right as far as call quality i would say these are decent but nothing fancy i nothing to write home about i definitely would rather use my earpods or anything else and i might have said it clearly she was like oh they sound okay a little little low when i did the wind test i heard mad static mad wind going in these immediately so i would say the call quality is okay but definitely not earpods pro okay let's keep it moving all right so i just put it on low latency mode now let's check for lag and what i mean by that is when you're watching the video is there any delay from the person's lips to what you hear now it was memorial day i was on netflix watching saving private ryan let's see if there's any lip sync and delays okay no delay at all perfectly synced all right so now let's talk about ambient sound mode and active noise cancellation now as far as ambient sound mode i would say it's okay it does work but it's definitely not the best if you ever used airpod pros you're gonna think that these are trash when it comes to ambient sound mode but they just work all right they worked if you got your music on and you want to talk to somebody real quick you put on ambient sound mode but you're gonna have to turn the volume down in your music a lot okay now i would say they just okay now as far as active noise cancellation y'all know i got three chairs we got trash chair okay chair and top tier and of course god tier which is only two earbuds but we're not gonna talk about those how would i rank these i would say these are okay chair all right they're definitely not top tier but they're not trash there they're just okay they're just okay they will drown out some of the noise but you hear a lot of extra noise in the background and then if you take these off and throw in the sony's you're going to be like wow you'll know the difference between okay tier and top tier try these and then try the sony's and you'll understand but these are just okay these are okay which sums up my opinion about these earbuds i would say they're okay now i gotta do a quick test i'm gonna see how i rank these versus my top five all right so i just finished doing some major testing now let me answer those three questions number one do these earbuds have too much bass and the answer is no definitely not too much bass the bass is okay it's not too clean it's not too deep and rich not too punchy even after playing with all of the eq settings trying out all the different streaming services the base is good but it's definitely not going to blow you away and it wouldn't be the selling point of these earbuds next question are they worth 150 bucks and i'm going to say no these should be 100 bucks now at 100 bucks with all that battery life i would have said jump on these it's a nice deal but at 150 bucks it's a no for me dawg there's too many other better earbuds on the market right now last question how do i rank these versus my top five truly wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation that costs around 150 bucks and i would say these do not crack the top five number one i'm still going with the sennheisers number two the liberty threes number three the one more evos number four nothing air ones number five galaxy buds pro okay my top five is still the same so overall on a scale of one to ten i would say day i d e y i i d i would i spend 150 bucks no okay a hundred bucks if you find these on sale yeah that crazy battery life everything does work on it but the bottom line about these earbuds is everything is just okay the call quality was okay the noise cancellation okay sound quality okay the features okay nothing is going to blow your way about these except for the battery life again if you're going to spend 150 bucks there's way better options on the market i'm going to rank these the same way i rank the last audio technica earbuds that i did day i okay now don't buy these for 150 bucks wait until the price drops because um trust me when i tell you they will drop these will be 99 bucks or 79 bucks now if you can find these for 79 bucks with all this battery life yeah but at 150 bucks it's a no for me dawg anyway audio technica ath ck all right anybody that works out y'all know the post workout shakes i got them heavy right now but i'm back in the gym all right so earbuds pretty big now as usual the next thing you want to do is download the audio technica app and make sure you update the firmware alright so now let's take a look at the app now it shows you the name of your earbuds you got a picture of your buds you got your battery percentage for the left and the right it shows your current codecs you can change your eq settings your active noise cancellation settings there's your volume and you also got playing pause skipping reverse tracks now let's check out some of the settings so again you got volume you can cycle through the different codecs you got your ambient sound active noise cancellation or off so right now i got it on head through let's turn on active noise cancellation okay so i just turned on noise cancellation i didn't feel that extra whoosh okay so let's see we'll have to do a little bit more testing now put it on here through this is ambient sound mode and right out of the gate i can tell you the ambient sound mode is not that great okay it's really not that great i'll do some more testing let's see here's your eq okay so you got original bass boost clear vocal you got v shape that's one of my favorites and you got uh treble enhance okay so now i'm going to start off on bass boost okay so you got low latency mode if you want to do some gaming you got left and right balance adjustment you got side tone so this way you can hear more of your voice on a phone call and you got your 360 reality audio simple and straightforward all right so now let's talk about the look the fit and the feel i already got the right size ear tips and as big as these are they actually do fit comfortably you get a nice tight seal and on the side note make sure you got the right size air chips because that's going to give you better active noise cancellation and better sound quality okay let's do the head shake test i'm going to start off with minimum shakeage okay no movement at all intermediate shaking okay no movement maximum shakeage okay no movement so as big as these earbuds are they will not fall out of your ears so that means you can use them in the gym now here's how they look not the most discreet okay kind of on the big side but 20 hours battery keep that in the back of your mind all right so now let's do a sound test alright so i got a classic song queued up we got tiana tella gonna love me featuring method man rayquan and ghostfacekiller which on the side note is one of my birthday songs my birthday is next week so i'm getting in the spirit i'm going to start off with active noise cancellation turned on i got the eq set to v-shaped and max volume all right birdman hands rubbing together do these earbuds have too much bass let's find out one time for playing pause let's get it on okay little voice pop he said play okay oh you gotta love me you're gonna wanna hug me and squeeze me sometimes breathing things that we really don't mean there's everything between the lines once it's improved and say sorry if i made you feel blessed to who you are a little insecure i'll use a shiny star i want to spend my life with you my life with you oh baby please wait up for me tonight i can't get home i know that you're all alone thinking about what we're gonna do i hope that you see it through let's go and oh you're gonna love me you're gonna wanna hug me and squeeze me okay hold on all right hold up now duties have too much bass all right too much bass i'm gonna say no all right let's try something let's hit play on the music let's see okay this is bass boost okay i like v-shaped better clear vocal treble enhanced now that's my v-shape this one sounds the best okay hold up okay let's do a little bass test okay go over to bass boost okay okay it does have bass now i'm not going to say too much bass nah not too much bass monkey they know that all right hold up let's let's say pause okay now i will say this it does have voice prompts so when you pause it it says pause and it takes a second to pause all right so it's not an instantaneous pause and when you hit play it's going to say play and then start playing sound quality on these i would say these sound they sound good all right i'm not going to go crazy these sound good i'm not blown away they definitely don't have too much bass and the bass isn't even that clean and deep and rich now i got to do a little bit more testing i want to try out a few more songs i will say they get nice and loud but these just sound okay they sound okay nothing to write home about the same thing with my original audio technica earbuds i had the same issue there was alright but there wasn't really nothing too crazy like these ain't really nothing too crazy but before i before i give my final verdict let me test a few more songs and let me tell you i paired this up to an iphone let's try different a couple of different streaming services and then we can really see how they sound but as of right now they sound okay just okay let's keep it moving alright so now let's do the reconnection test how long do this take to reconnect to your phone after you take them out and put them in the charging case okay so let's go ahead and drop these in let's make sure it's fully disconnected okay here it goes one mississippi two mississippi three mississippi it said connected okay just like that three mississippis that's pretty good all right so now let's do the one earbud test can you play music from one earbud while the other one is charging up in the case all right so i got the music playing i'm gonna take out the right side drop it in the case the left side is playing okay now let's put the right side back in wait for it to reconnect okay it says battery level medium it just connected now put the left side in close it up the right side is still playing so this is pretty dope you can use these earbuds independently basically doubling your battery life all right so let's check the multi-point connection feature can you pair two devices at the same time got an iphone paired up let's hit play on the music okay the music is playing now let's play on the galaxy okay waiting for it to switch okay now it's playing on the galaxy so multi-point works perfectly fine all right so now let's check the physical buttons for playback controls now on the right side single press for play and pause and it does have voice prompts it said play okay double press to go to the next song okay triple press to go to the previous track okay and long press the cycle between active noise cancellation ambient sound mode and off now on the left side single press for volume up okay double press for volume down okay and you got voice prompts hey siri what's the weather for today okay so all the touch controls work and again you're gonna have to use these little buttons on each side all right so now let's check the call quality i'm gonna call up amaya but before i do that ladies and gentlemen late but still great white shoes is back in the building calm down all right here we go let's dial up amaya okay let's see let's put on the earbuds hi girlie what you doing okay did they hiring minding my business company i'm trying to get a job there too what up are you the ceo of minded the business i respected your wife hold up yo why are you trying to get out of the dinner tonight yeah you know i'm saying i don't want no home cooked food this is my birthday weekend cause y'all all jokes aside all right i'm doing a video i'm testing out some headphones how do they sound sound sound average but clear all right hold up let's do let's do this now do you hear any wind okay what about now oh man yeah i hear it too it's like is it kind of break it up in my ears a little bit when i put the wind too close all right let me turn let me turn this off all right buddy but just oh okay see so you get you rank these from as a c okay okay b minus i just averaged nothing fancy nothing to write home about okay okay okay sounds good all right so um all right let me get back to this video i'm gonna call you back in a minute once i finish all right and and get get a fit ready because i we're not we're not doing the home-cooked meal today we're going outside bro all right can i cook for you for your birthday no no we going outside bro all right as far as call quality i would say these are decent but nothing fancy i nothing to write home about i definitely would rather use my earpods or anything else and i might have said it clearly she was like oh they sound okay a little little low when i did the wind test i heard mad static mad wind going in these immediately so i would say the call quality is okay but definitely not earpods pro okay let's keep it moving all right so i just put it on low latency mode now let's check for lag and what i mean by that is when you're watching the video is there any delay from the person's lips to what you hear now it was memorial day i was on netflix watching saving private ryan let's see if there's any lip sync and delays okay no delay at all perfectly synced all right so now let's talk about ambient sound mode and active noise cancellation now as far as ambient sound mode i would say it's okay it does work but it's definitely not the best if you ever used airpod pros you're gonna think that these are trash when it comes to ambient sound mode but they just work all right they worked if you got your music on and you want to talk to somebody real quick you put on ambient sound mode but you're gonna have to turn the volume down in your music a lot okay now i would say they just okay now as far as active noise cancellation y'all know i got three chairs we got trash chair okay chair and top tier and of course god tier which is only two earbuds but we're not gonna talk about those how would i rank these i would say these are okay chair all right they're definitely not top tier but they're not trash there they're just okay they're just okay they will drown out some of the noise but you hear a lot of extra noise in the background and then if you take these off and throw in the sony's you're going to be like wow you'll know the difference between okay tier and top tier try these and then try the sony's and you'll understand but these are just okay these are okay which sums up my opinion about these earbuds i would say they're okay now i gotta do a quick test i'm gonna see how i rank these versus my top five all right so i just finished doing some major testing now let me answer those three questions number one do these earbuds have too much bass and the answer is no definitely not too much bass the bass is okay it's not too clean it's not too deep and rich not too punchy even after playing with all of the eq settings trying out all the different streaming services the base is good but it's definitely not going to blow you away and it wouldn't be the selling point of these earbuds next question are they worth 150 bucks and i'm going to say no these should be 100 bucks now at 100 bucks with all that battery life i would have said jump on these it's a nice deal but at 150 bucks it's a no for me dawg there's too many other better earbuds on the market right now last question how do i rank these versus my top five truly wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation that costs around 150 bucks and i would say these do not crack the top five number one i'm still going with the sennheisers number two the liberty threes number three the one more evos number four nothing air ones number five galaxy buds pro okay my top five is still the same so overall on a scale of one to ten i would say day i d e y i i d i would i spend 150 bucks no okay a hundred bucks if you find these on sale yeah that crazy battery life everything does work on it but the bottom line about these earbuds is everything is just okay the call quality was okay the noise cancellation okay sound quality okay the features okay nothing is going to blow your way about these except for the battery life again if you're going to spend 150 bucks there's way better options on the market i'm going to rank these the same way i rank the last audio technica earbuds that i did day i okay now don't buy these for 150 bucks wait until the price drops because um trust me when i tell you they will drop these will be 99 bucks or 79 bucks now if you can find these for 79 bucks with all this battery life yeah but at 150 bucks it's a no for me dawg anyway audio technica ath ck cks 50 tw's day i hit me up in the comments let me know what y'all think about these shout outs everybody rocking with me on
