**Top Five Favorite Smartphones of 2022**
As we conclude the year, I'm excited to share my top five favorite smartphones of 2022 with you. After careful consideration and extensive use of various devices, I've compiled a list that showcases the best of what this year had to offer.
**Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4**
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is an excellent device, but it falls short of being one of my top picks due to its limited availability in Western markets. Although it has a great software experience and a fantastic folding display, I feel that Samsung's dominance in the market might have led them to become a bit lazy. The competition internationally cannot make this one of my top five picks. However, I do really like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, especially in terms of its software and the utilization of that folding display.
**Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4**
My top foldable phone of the year is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4. This device is an incremental update compared to last year's model, but it still packs some big improvements, particularly in battery life and cameras. The flip design remains competitive, and people who see the Z Flip 4 are often very interested in it, even if they're iPhone users for life. It still maintains its official IPX4 rating, making it a great choice for those looking for a durable device. Additionally, it's available at under $1,000, making it more accessible to consumers.
**The Nothing Phone (1)**
One of the most unique smartphones I'd say is the Nothing Phone (1). A new contender in the market, this device comes with glyph lighting that might seem like a gimmick to some people, but you can't deny how stylish and unique it looks. With a price tag of around £400, you get no chin on the front display, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a really nice software experience. The Nothing Phone (1) is one of my favorite mid-range smartphones.
**OnePlus 10 Pro**
The OnePlus 10 Pro is another device that could have easily been included in my top five list. It initially released in China, which I think was a bad decision, but it eventually made its way globally. Despite the initial confusion, the OnePlus 10 Pro is still a great smartphone with a unique design, fast charging out of the box, nice displays, and some excellent cameras at a very competitive price.
**OPPO Find X5 Pro**
The OPPO Find X5 Pro is an excellent all-around device that ticks most of the boxes you'd need from a flagship. It has great cameras, amazing display, and a great build, but it doesn't scream "different" like some other devices on this list do. Although it's an excellent choice for those looking for a premium smartphone experience, I think it got overshadowed by other heavy hitters in the market.
**ROG Phone 6 Pro and ROG Phone 6 Ultimate**
For gamers, my personal favorites are the ROG Phone 6 Pro and ROG Phone 6 Ultimate. Built from ground up for gamers, these devices offer an exceptional gaming experience with top-notch specs and performance. They are still some of the best gaming smartphones you can buy.
**Budget Options: POCO, Infinix, and TECNO**
On the budget side, I've been impressed with the offerings from brands like POCO, Infinix, and TECNO. Although their devices may not be as well-known globally, they offer some fantastic options for those looking for affordable smartphones without sacrificing too much quality.
**Honorable Mentions: Xiaomi Devices and vivo Devices**
Unfortunately, I didn't get to try out many Xiaomi devices this year due to limited availability in Western markets and difficulty getting review units. The same goes for the vivo devices, which I would have liked to test but couldn't do so. These brands offer some excellent smartphones that are worth checking out, but they're not as widely available or well-represented here in the West.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en- What's up, guys?Saf here on SuperSaf TV,and this is my top five favoritesmartphones list of 2022.Now, there have been lots ofgreat smartphones this year,so it's been very difficultto narrow this down to just five. And although I've testedmany, many smartphones,of course I have nottested every single one,so no doubt there may be a smartphonethat you feel shouldhave been on this list, one of your favorites, which isn't.But that's fine, guys.We can still be friends. There's no need to argue.Just drop your favoritesdown in the comments below. Also, another disclaimer, this list is in no particular order.I'm just giving you my top five.I also give you some ofmy honorable mentions. But I will reveal my favorites,my daily driversin the upcoming SuperSafstyle collaboration. You don't want to miss that. It's in the works andit'll be live very soon,so be sure you have subscribedand hit that bell icon. Now, with all that out the way, let's get to my list, once again, in no particular order. The first smartphone on my list,I mean, it's kind of a constantand I think you probably expect it,it is one of the first smartphonesthat released this year, and it is the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Now, this smartphone for meticks pretty much all of the boxes. And even though it releasedvery early in the year, still holds up and holds its ownagainst lots of the other flagships. We've got a beautiful display, amazing all around cameraswith I would say the best zoomon any smartphone camera right now.Great performance, and the S Pen enclosed this year, which essentially makes it a note device, and although noteverybody's a fan of that,me personally being afan of the Note Series,it's great to see this nowcombined into the S Series. Now, it's not perfect.I'd say over time, the battery life hasn't really lived up,and many of the devices out therehave much better battery life. The performance is top notch, but now we have devices with the 8+ Gen 1rather than the 8.But despite all of that,it's still one of the best smartphoneswithout a doubt of 2022.Now, some honorable mentionsdo have to go to the S22,as well as the S22 Plus.If you're somebodythat's not got the moneyfor the S22 Ultraor you don't need the S Pen,the S22 and the S22 Plusoffer a lot of what the S22 Ultra do,but at a lower price. Now, the next smartphone on my listmight be a bit of a surprise, but it is the best compactsmartphone you can buyin my opinion of 2022,and that is ASUS ZenFone 9.Now, this in my opinionis a compact smartphonewithout really many compromises. You're still getting the 8+ Gen 1.You're getting 120 hertz display. You're getting a six axisgimbal stabilized camera.Serious speakers, fast charging.A 3.5 millimeter headphone jack,I mean, where do you see one of those? And all of that in a comfortableand compact form factor, which I really, really like. Now, it's not perfect. The price has increased quite a bitcompared to what whatwe had on the ZenFone 8.And we do have a bit of achin on the front display, which I'm not a huge fan of.I think they shouldhave gone for somethinga bit more consistent. And we don't have wireless charging, which pretty much allof the other flagshipsnowadays do have.Having said that,it is still the best compactsmartphone that you can buy,and I really do like it.Now, moving on,let's look at the bestiPhones that you can buy.And in my opinion, they are the iPhone 14Pro and the Pro Max.Now, with the iPhone 14,I mean, it is pretty muchan incremental update. You can just call it an iPhone 13S really. However, I do think we'vegot some great improvementson the 14 Pro and Pro Max.And the Pro Max for me in particularhas been such a great device. The improved displaywith the Dynamic Island.I mean, you might notlove the Dynamic Island, but you can't deny thatit is pretty unique. We've got the brightest displaythat I've tested this year, which is great for outdoors, especially if you wear sunglasses like me.Amazing overall experience. And I would say in my opinionthe best camera package forconsistency and quality. The iPhone 14 Pro and ProMax have amazing cameras, and still the bestvideo on any smartphone.Absolutely amazing video. If I do want to record video,my go-to is always the iPhone. Now, the battery life is also really good, not as good as the iPhone 13 Pro Max.That might be down partlyto the always on display, which is pretty muchjust a dimmed lot screen. Now, it looks like Apple istaking that feedback on boardand giving us more optionswith the always on display. And the iPhone 14 Proand Pro Max in particularin the UK and many other regionshave increased quitesignificantly in price.I know that's not Apple's faultand it's down to the economic situation, but something to keep in mind. However, if you are afterthe best iPhones you can buy,the iPhone 14 Pro or ProMax are the ones to go for. Now, I do have to givean honorable mentionto the iPhone 14 Plus.Again, bit of an incremental update, but if you are after a larger iPhoneat a more competitive price, that is going to give you thebest battery life on any iPhone. Now, the next smartphone on my listmight be a bit of a surprise to you guys.It is the Google Pixel 7, yes.Not the 7 Pro.The 7 Pro is great, don't get me wrong, but I think the Google Pixel 7is really good for most people, and it's the one that I canrecommend to most people as wellbecause of its verycompetitive price point, just under £600 or $600.Now, for that price, you are getting almost everythingthat you get on the 7 Pro,which is quite a bit more. You're getting the same primary camerawith Google's software processing, which is amazing.I know some people find ita bit too over processed, but I really like it.Google's very own Tensor chipwith the software optimizations, which you won't find on other smartphones, such as Photo Unblur, which actually works prettywell in my experience. You've got the Google phone assistant,as well as the ability totranscribe voice notes, all of which are really usefuland unique to the Google Pixel experience. Now, sure, you do just get 90hertz instead of 120 hertz, which is something thatyou expect from a flagship, and you don't get adedicated telephoto camera. However, the Google Pixel 7in my opinion is a great buyand something that I can easily recommend. Now, an honorable mentiondoes have to go to the Google Pixel 7 Pro.It is still a great flagshipand it's priced more competitivelycompared to other flagships, and it has improved quite a bitcompared to the Google Pixel 6 Pro,which I had so, so many bugs with.Right, now moving on tothe final pick in my list. Now, this was a really tough onebecause I did want it to be foldable.I'm somebody who lovesfoldable smartphones.I wanted to pick my favorite foldableto be as part of this list, and it was a tricky onebecause the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4,I did use it for a whileand I did really like itand it's got some nice improvement. But in my opinion,Samsung has gotten a little bitlazy over the past few yearsbecause there isn't reallymuch competition in the West.If we look at the international market,we've got amazing foldablesfrom the likes of Xiaomi, OPPO,and more recently the HONOR Magic Vs,which I actually got a chance to test out.And in my opinion, all of these have abetter overall form factorcompared to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4.However, most of these right noware not available in the Western markets. They may be later on,but at this point in time,Samsung does have a bit of a monopoly, which in my opinion hasmade them a little bit lazy.So although I do really likethe Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4,especially in terms of the software, great utilization of that folding display, seeing all of thecompetition internationallycannot make this one of my top five picks. My top foldable of the yearis the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4.Now, don't get me wrong, this is also an incremental updatecompared to what we had last year. However, we do have some big improvementsin terms of the battery lifeand cameras in particular, two of the things which I wanted improved. The Flip 4 still maintainsits competitive priceat under $1,000,which makes it a lot more accessible. And it really does flip heads.People, when they see the Z Flip 4,even if they've been iPhoneusers for all of their lives, they are very, veryinterested in the Flip 4.And it still does have an IPX4 rating, and still the onlyfoldables as far as I knowthat have an official IPX4 rating, which is great. So for all of those reasons, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4has made the final pick of my list. Now, as I mentioned, there are some honorable mentionswhich we do need to cover. One of the most unique smartphonesI would say of the yearhas to be the Nothing Phone (1).A new contender, and yes, the glyph lightingmight seem like a bit ofa gimmick to some people, but you can't deny thatit does look very unique. And it comes in at around £400,and for that you've got nochin for the front display,120 hertz refresh rate, and a really nice andclean software experience. So the Nothing Phone (1)I would say is one of myfavorite mid range smartphones. Now, the next honorablemention has to go to OnePlus, the OnePlus 10 Pro.Very confusing because itinitially released in China, which I think was a very bad decision, and then it came out globally, but it's still a really nice smartphone.I do like the unique design. You get really fastcharging out of the box,you get really nice displayswith some really good cameras, and it's actually at avery competitive price now. Now, we can't speak of OnePluswithout speaking of OPPO,the parent company, the Find X5 Pro.An excellent smartphone, but I think it justkind of got overshadowedbecause there wasn't really anythingthat massively stood out with that device. It's an excellent all round devicewith some great camerasand amazing display,a great build, but although it tickspretty much all of the boxesyou need from a flagship,it doesn't scream differentand it doesn't really stand outamongst all of the otherheavy hitters that we have. Now, on the gaming side of things,I personally really enjoyedthe ROG Phone 6 Pro,as well as the ROG Phone 6 Ultimate, which in my experienceare still some of the bestgaming smartphones you can buy.Built ground up for gamers. And on the budget side of things,in particular from thelikes of POCO, Infinix,as well as TECNO,we've got some really nice devices. However, availability fora lot of these devices,it is still quitelimited here in the West. Now, I actually didn't get to try outmany Xiaomi devices this year, and the vivo devices that I haddid come a little bitlate for me to cover.I'm not sure why a lot ofthese are not availablehere in the West, and review units weredifficult to come by.So I know there's a lotof Xiaomi and vivo devicesthat I would've liked to have testedand included in these listswhich I have not had a chance to do.So that is my list of top fivefavorite smartphones of 2022,along with some honorable mentions. What are your favorites?Drop them in the comments below.Once again, guys, there's no need to argue. We can still be friends. We all have different preferences. Now, remember, my SuperSafstyle end of year collaborationis in the worksand it's going to becoming very, very soon.So if you don't want to miss that,be sure to subscribeand hit that bell icon.I hope you enjoyed thisvideo and found it useful. If you did, then do smash that like button for me.And if you want to seesome related videos,I'll link those here in the cards. Thanks for watching, thisis Saf on
