Star Wars Jedi Survivor On The 'Minimum Spec' Graphics Card - Is It That Bad

**Initial Impressions: Star Wars Jedi Survivor Performance**

The author of this article has been testing Star Wars Jedi Survivor on various hardware configurations, including an RX 580 graphics card and a range of CPUs. The game's performance was a mixed bag, with some areas showing significant dips in frame rate. However, the author notes that after adjusting settings, they were able to achieve more stable performance.

The author mentions that eight gigs or at least seven and a half gigs has been allocated to the game, which seems to have resulted in better visuals, with frame rates ranging from 45 to 60 FPS. The author is impressed with the AMD Ryzen 5 1400 and Intel Core i7-7700 CPU, which they believe should be sufficient for most players.

In terms of graphics settings, the author notes that playing on a lower preset, such as low or medium, allowed them to achieve more stable performance. They also experiment with different settings, including enabling the MSI overlay, which had no significant impact on performance. The author suggests that using a 60 FPS cap or capping the game at a slightly lower FPS may help to improve performance.

**Performance Optimization and Future Improvements**

The author notes that despite some performance issues, the game is still playable, particularly when playing with more aggressive graphics settings. They suggest that implementing a 60 FPS cap could help to mitigate dips in frame rate, making the experience feel smoother. The author also notes that some reviewers had mentioned significant performance issues, but their experience was different.

Regarding potential solutions for improved performance, the author mentions that the implementation of FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) might be to blame for some of the performance issues. They express concerns that some developers may use FSR as a substitute for proper optimization, rather than using it in conjunction with other techniques. The author hopes that EA will continue their promise to fix performance issues and improve the game's overall stability.

**Testing on Different Hardware Configurations**

To test Star Wars Jedi Survivor's performance, the author used an RX 580 graphics card with different CPU configurations, including a Ryzen 5 1400 and an Intel Core i7-7700. The author notes that while these CPUs may not be as powerful as some other options, they should still provide sufficient performance for most players.

The author also mentions that testing on the RX 580 was more successful than expected, with better performance than anticipated. They attribute this to the fact that they were able to choose from higher graphics settings, rather than being limited to lower presets. The author notes that their experience may not be representative of all hardware configurations and suggests that players should expect some variability in performance.

**Visual Quality and Art Style**

The author expresses a strong appreciation for the game's visual quality and art style, noting that it is "really nice looking". They also mention that the climbing mechanics were initially confusing, but once they understood how to play, they enjoyed the experience. The author notes that the game's visuals are particularly impressive when playing on higher graphics settings.

**MSI Overlay and FSR Settings**

To further test performance, the author enabled the MSI overlay, which showed no significant impact on frame rate. However, the author notes that using a balanced setting for FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) did help to improve performance, making it more acceptable for lower-end hardware.

**Performance Recommendations**

Based on their experience with Star Wars Jedi Survivor, the author offers some performance recommendations. They suggest aiming for 40 FPS, capping the game at a slightly lower frame rate if necessary, and using higher graphics settings when possible. The author also notes that choosing medium graphics settings over low may provide better performance, particularly when combined with other techniques.

**Conclusion**

The author concludes their initial impressions of Star Wars Jedi Survivor's performance by noting that while some performance issues remain, the game is still playable on most hardware configurations. They express hope that EA will continue to work on improving performance and stability, and encourage players to report any issues they encounter in the comments section. The author also invites readers to share their own experiences with the game and provides a final call-to-action to subscribe to the channel for future content.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello everyone and welcome to another video now you're probably sick of the site of the RX 580 already because I've tested it a few times in the last couple of weeks but it actually got named as the minimum spec GPU in the new Star Wars game Jedi Survivor so I thought we'd see how well the game does because it's safe to say there have certainly been some negative reviews as far as performance is concerned I'm not using the full list of minimum specifications though I am using an i312 100f a four core eight threaded chip 16 gigs of RAM and of course the 8 gig 580 itself okay so here we are I've jumped straight into the graphics settings immediately there is a problem I can't seem to actually adjust anything not really sure what's going on here I've never really experienced a game where I can't adjust the graphic settings before but it turns out that you have to hit enter on one of these options and then use wa s and D well rather just A and D to go left and right if I use the arrows and I hit the left Arrow to try and adjust one of the graphic settings I actually end up going back to the the main menu on the left there which is quite wacky perhaps that's just a bug for me with my setup I don't know but if it isn't hopefully that gets fixed not a huge deal just mildly and convenient I suppose at the moment okay so now that I've got the hang of adjusting the graphic settings never thought there'd be a learning curve when it came to adjusting graphic settings but here we are 2023 PC gaming everyone I've actually gone with everything on low Ultra performance FSR I'm glad fsr2 is included there seems to be a common theme with modern games so it's nice to see everything is on low jumping into the game then this is literally a new game I'm starting from the very beginning I'm going to just be demonstrating some pretty early stages of the game because I don't like to give things away and with these initial impression videos I'm not doing any thorough benchmarking I'm just giving you a quick taster of what you can expect and the 580 with the lowest settings including Ultra performance fsr2 seems to be doing okay it's hitting at least 60 FPS um using about 10 gigs of RAM the RX 580 is of course maxing out usage-wise the I3 doesn't have a problem um temperature wise 73 degrees on the card that's fine vram about five gigs so I think the four gig 580 is pretty much out the window here you're going to want the 8 gig card for sure eight gigs of vram seems to be the new minimum in 2023 alright so I've progressed a little further just about to take on these Lads here we're still getting about 50 to 60 FPS obviously the fsr2 ultra performance mode does make things look a little less sharp than I'd ideally like them to be but we're going to be cranking up the settings in a little while first of all though I want to give my initial impressions of the game itself I'm having fun the combat feels nice and smooth very fluent I do like the combat system it seems to be running okay considering the 580 just turns six years old the 1070 from Nvidia is the other minimum requirement card and I think that's probably going to do a little bit better here but this really isn't too bad the vram is almost maxing out now however as you can see seven and a half gigs of our eight gigs or at least seven and a half gigs has been allocated to the game this little area here we seem to be getting more of sort of 45 to 60 FPS but visually it still looks quite good despite the bottom of the barrel settings that I've had to use here I'm impressed with the I3 as well I think a ryzen 5 1400 and an i7 7700 are the CPUs listed as the minimum probably a bit weaker than the i312 100f in all fairness but they should still do okay because this definitely seems like more of a GPU intensive title okay here we are in another area I mean this is still early stages I can't speak for the entirety of the game of course I never can in these test videos but it seems to be doing okay I like the climbing mechanics as well took me a little while to figure out where I was actually supposed to go but once I had that figured out well we were we were on a roll so uh yeah here in combat situations things don't really dip too much either with a lot of enemies on screen it seems to be in those busier areas where you've got a lot going on in the background that affects the frame rate this is definitely playable I think you may want to implement a 60 FPS cap so that when it does dip it doesn't feel as significant or you may want to cap the game at a slightly lower FPS it's it's really not too bad though I was expecting worse given the initial review that I saw but overall people seem to be enjoying the game which is nice to see it just does seem to be a little bit of a performance problem at the moment I think EA have said on Twitter that they are committed to fixing this but I do wish that we would just get games that are already finished you know what I mean or already optimized when they come out um I know there's a broad spect spectrum of what PC Hardware is available but it seems to be a common theme thus far in 2023 released now optimized later I hope it's not a trend that continues I do wonder if perhaps the implementation of FSR is to blame a little bit I hope developers aren't utilizing FSR in place of optimization just thinking you know what they can use FSR it doesn't really need to be optimized we'll just let them upscale the game and things will be fine I can't really I'm not a game developer I don't know how things behind the scenes work all I know is that they still needs work but it is running better than I thought on the 580 so I do hope EA continue or stick to their promise and fix things performance wise okay so I'm going to actually turn things up to medium here we're going to go with a medium preset we're not going to play around with anything else I'm also going to turn the FSR option to balanced rather than Ultra performance just to make things look a little bit crispier now if we enable the MSI overlay you can see that things aren't actually that much worse in terms of performance okay maybe I spoke too soon this seems to be a nice sweet spot for the 580. I think you should forget about a constant 60fps unless you want to use a lower resolution as well either natively or with FSR I think your best perhaps aiming for 40 FPS something like that maybe capping it I think that's going to give you the best experience with a card like a 580 especially if you're using it in combination with a lower end CPU but I honestly there is some work to be done still but it's really not terrible performance wise especially that we now that we can actually uh choose medium instead of just low so yeah it actually looks a lot better at Medium as well this is a really nice looking game in my opinion I like the art style I'm going to leave it there though these are my initial impressions of Star Wars Jedi Survivor performance could of course use a little bit of work but when it comes to running on the minimum spec graphics card the RX 580 it is definitely more than playable and now that we've figured out we can use higher than low settings that's also a bonus too hopefully we do see some improvements in the coming weeks but we'll have to wait and see and of course everything in this video applies to well this date really you may look back at this video in a couple of weeks and nothing I've said will apply because it might have been totally fixed who's to say but there we go if you enjoyed this one leave a like leave a dislike if you didn't let me know what you think of the game and let me know how it performs for you in the comments as well subscribe to the channel if you haven't done so already and hopefully I'll see all of you in the next
