Books I'm Bringing To College!

My College Bound Book List: Excitement and Anticipation

I'm beyond thrilled to share with you my book list that I'll be taking with me to college. As I prepare to embark on this new chapter of my life, I've curated a selection of books that I just can't wait to dive into. Each book on this list has captivated me in its own unique way, and I'm excited to share why.

My first book on the list is "When the Moon Was Ours" by Anna Marie McClee. This magical realism novel has already captured my attention with its enchanting premise and beautiful prose. The story follows a young girl who possesses roses that grow out of her wrists, and a boy who hangs a moon on trees. I'm particularly drawn to this book because it features trans representation, which is essential to me as a reader. The writing style has already impressed me, with the first 15 pages being so beautifully crafted that I couldn't put it down.

My next book on the list is "Every Heart a Doorway" by Seanan McGuire, another novel that I've had the pleasure of starting during my 24-hour read-a-thon. This book has also captured my imagination with its unique concept of doorways to different worlds that children can open to escape reality. The story takes place in a world where these doorways lead to various realities based on the child's emotional state, and I'm eager to explore this world further. What excites me even more is the representation of asexual characters in this book, which I believe will resonate with me deeply.

Lastly, I've added "Daughter of the Burning City" by Amanda Foody to my list, courtesy of a recent loot box prize. This book has been on my radar for quite some time, and I was thrilled to meet Amanda Foody at Book Expo, where she spoke about her novel. The premise of this book has piqued my interest with its circus-themed setting and magical elements, drawing me in with the familiar themes of "The Night Circus." With only a few pages read so far, I'm confident that I'll fall in love with this story.

As I prepare to embark on this new chapter of my life, I've carefully curated this list of books to ensure that they're all engaging and captivating. I want to immerse myself in these stories as I navigate the ups and downs of college life. With a mix of magical realism, fantasy, and realistic fiction, I'm confident that this list will keep me entertained and inspired.

What's exciting for me is the sheer variety of genres and themes represented on this list. From magical realism to fantasy, I'm looking forward to exploring new worlds and ideas. Each book has captured my attention in its own way, whether it's through unique premises or memorable characters. With these books by my side, I feel confident that I'll find something that speaks to me as I navigate the challenges and opportunities of college life.

If you've read any of these books on my list, please do let me know! I'd love to hear your thoughts and recommendations. Additionally, if you have any ideas for videos or content related to college-bound topics, please don't hesitate to share them with me. I'm always open to collaborating and creating engaging content for my audience.

As I pack up my books and prepare to embark on this new chapter of my life, I feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. While I'm eager to start this new journey, I also know that there will be challenges ahead. One thing is certain, however: with these books by my side, I'll have the perfect companionship as I navigate the ups and downs of college life.

With that said, I'd like to thank you all for watching this video! It's been an absolute pleasure sharing my book list with you, and I hope you've enjoyed it just as much. "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys it's Hannah and today I'm going to be talking about the books that I'm bringing with me to college so if you didn't know it this year I am transferring to a university for the fall and that means I'm moving out of my house and moving into an apartment which means that I have to move all of my stuff and I also have to bring some books with me because there's no way I'm going to move into a new place and not bring some of my books because I'm not going to have this with me all the time so I went on Twitter recently and I asked you guys if you'd like to see a video about the books that I'm planning to bring with me and everyone said yes so I decided that I would do the video also by the time you're watching this video I will probably have already moved because this is actually the last day that I'm filming at home because I leave in two days and I'm kind of horrified but we'll see how it goes also before you ask I will be doing my college Q&A I plan to do that a while ago and a lot of people asked questions and I still get comments about when I'm doing it I'm still going to be doing it I'm actually going to be filming it today as well so you guys will see that video very soon without any further ado let's get into the books that I am planning on bringing with me I tried to narrow it down to a total of ten books because I didn't want to bring too many with me but I think I got up to like 13 which isn't that much over 10 but like it still might be too many we'll see also I am planning to come back home at least about once a month so I will be able to still like film with my background and I can always like switch out my books so it's not like this is going to be my set amount of books for the entire semester but these are the ones that I'm most anticipating reading in the next coming months and so these are the ones that I want to bring with me as well as a couple of favorites that I have to have with me no matter what so don't be further ado let's just get into all of them the first book that I'm bringing with me to college is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by JK Rowling this is one of the new 20th anniversary editions and I bought the Gryffindor one because I'm a Gryffindor but there's no way that I'm going to move out and not bring a copy of Harry Potter with me because I have to have it I know that I can listen to the book on audiobook whenever I want and like I can go to the library and pick them up whenever I want and everything but I just want to have a coffee with me because it brings me comfort and I know that if I'm ever sad I can just pick this back up and reread it again and it'll just make me happy so just knowing that I have this with me will definitely be a comfort to me I also decided to bring this one because this is the only one that I have that isn't like part of the entire series because I just have the first one in this edition they only have the first books and it's just super pretty because it has like the red pages and description dory so you can start conversations if someone ever asks me what my house is the next book that I have to bring with me is a copy of the Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern since this is my favorite book of all time there's no way that I'm going to move out and not bring it with me I've also decided that this year within like the next couple of months I really do want to reread this book because I haven't read it since 2015 and that was the first time I fully read it I've reread parts I've read like halfway through again like multiple times but I've never fully completed it again so that's what I really want to do this year also again it's another book that just brings me great comfort and if I make friends and anyone ever asks me for a book to read I can just hand them this and tell them to read the Night Circus and then we can be best friends the next book that I'm bringing with me is a copy of Jane Steele by Lindsey Fay from what I understand about this book it is a Jane Eyre retelling or it's kind of inspired by Jane Eyre and it follows a girl named Jane Steele who is actually a serial killer I've had this book on my shelf for a while now and I've always been so intrigued by the synopsis it's also one of Jos from scribbles reads favorite books of all time and she's always recommended it to me so I decided to bring a copy with me so I can finally get to reading it and I also think that it would be a perfect book to read around like the October time because it's more of a darker subject and I really think that I'm going to enjoy it the next book Adam bringing with me is Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier this is another book that people have told me is another Jane Eyre retelling or it's like inspired by Jane Eyre but I've also heard that it's not exactly inspired by Jane Eyre it's just kind of gothic but it follows the story of this woman who ends up marrying this man who she doesn't know very much about and she ends up moving to his house and finds out that he is still kind of haunted by the ghosts of his ex-wife when I first read the synopsis I thought it was like a literal ghost but apparently it's just a metaphorical ghost either way it still sounds really cool this is considered like a modern classic I believe and I've heard fantastic things about it I really love like the gothic kind of genre and I'm really really excited to read this one this is a book that I got at Shakespeare and company when I was in Paris and I just really want to read it now so I definitely think this will be one that I pick up very soon the next book that I'm bringing with me is night film by Marisha pestle this is another kind of darker novel which again I think is perfect for the Fall October time I really like reading darker more dense stories during that time from what I understand about this book it's kind of like a murder mystery novel and we follow around a detective as they're investigating the murder of like the daughter of a celebrity I think that's what it is or she's a celebrity I'm not fully sure I really don't want to know very much about this book because I want it to be suspenseful and surprising but again it's another book that I've just heard fantastic things about it's gotten rave reviews and I just think that it's going to be a really fun dark mysterious story that I'm really going to enjoy the next book I have here is one that a lot of people have been telling me to read and I have been saying that I'm going to read for like the past two years and I still haven't read it but I'm finally going to change that because I made a vow that I was going to read it in 2017 and I'm still going to stick to that 2017 isn't over yet but that book is the name of the wind by Patrick Rothfuss this is a high fantasy novel that everyone has been telling me to read as I said because you all know how much I love fantasy and apparently this is one of the best out there it's huge and there's another book that's equally as long if not longer and then there's going to be a third book which still doesn't even have a release date apparently which is part of the reason I've also been putting this off but all I really know about it is that it follows the story of this very well known like infamous magician who is just very powerful and everybody knows of him and he's kind of just telling his story like the story of his life and that premise just sounds really interesting I'm really in the mood for some high fantasy right now because I've been reading pretty much nothing but contemporary all summer and now that it's fall and winter time I'm definitely getting in the mood for some more fantasies and this is one that I cannot wait to pick up the next book I have here is the humans by Matt Hague this is another book that I don't know very much about because kind of more of like an abstract topic all I really know is that it's kind of like a commentary on humanity and just who we are as people and what it means to be human this copy doesn't even have a synopsis on it so I can't even read that but the back says that the humans is a rollicking novel about mass murder poetry and peanut-butter and casts a sharp eye on the triumphs and foils of our weird wonderful species and betcha sounds really really good to me I really like when realistic books tackle things in metaphorical ways so I'm very excited to read this one it's another one that I've heard great things about and it's a bit shorter so I think that be able to get through it very quickly and I am looking very much forward to reading it the next few books I have here are all some advanced copies that I got from Book Expo this year and they're ones that I want to read because their release dates are in the next few months so I thought now would be a good time to finally get to them the first one and which would by Tahereh Mafi this is a persian inspired fantasy about a girl who washes dead bodies that's all I really know that's all I need to know and I'm already so excited for this book I don't get to see much Persian representation in a lot of literature especially yaa and Tahereh Mafi being persian herself makes me really really excited to read this book and I'm hoping that I can really identify with it a lot because like I said it's not something that I get to see very often and the fact that it's also a fantasy makes me really really excited and it just sounds so awesome and the cover is also just so pretty so I cannot wait to read and review this one the next art I have is all the crooked saints by Maggie Steve otter all I really know about the plot of this one is that it takes place in Colorado in the 1960s and we follow around this Latino family who all have magical abilities and that's all really know but I have heard some mixed reviews about this one I've heard some people say that the representation isn't great so I have to look more into that and I'm hoping that it's well done and well-written and enjoyable but I will definitely read it and let you guys know more of my thoughts in my review but I do love my niece t-virus writing I love the Raven boys so I'm hoping that I enjoy this one as well and the last arcs that I'm bringing with me is they both die at the end by Adam Silveira I recently read histories all you left me by Adam Silveira and absolutely loved that book it was such a great story and it was so heartbreaking and now I'm even more excited to dive into they both died at the end this book takes place in a world where on the day that you're going to die you get a phone call from these people like inform you of that so you know that it's your last day on earth and this book follows the story of these two boys who get that phone call but don't want to be alone on that last day and there is like a service that can set you up to be with another person on your last day and the two of them end up doing that and meeting and it's about their story and their last day I am assuming since the title suggests sit that they do both die at the end and if so I'm going to be like really really sad like I can't be mad because it like tells you immediately but I also like know it's going to break my heart but I also know that I'm going to love it so I can't wait the next book that I'm planning on bringing with me is one that I've already started I started it during the booktubeathon and I really enjoyed what I read but now I really want to finish it up and that book is when the moon was ours by Anna Marie mcclee more this is a magical realism novel that follows the story of this girl and this boy the boy hangs a moon on like trees and the girl has roses growing out of like her wrists or something like that it's like super magical and whimsical and I love it so far already I also recently found out that one of the main characters is trans so it's great that there's that representation in here as well and now I just cannot wait to finish this book because I've read like the first 15 pages of it and it's already so so beautifully written and I know that but the doorways they open to these different worlds lead to different things based on what the child kind of needs and what kind of emotional state they're in and sometimes when they go through these doorways they can be gone for several years in their time but just come back in minutes in like the real world and then they tell their parents about these things and then their parents think that they're crazy and it just does not bode well for these kids I've also heard that the main character is asexual so I'm very excited that there's that representation in here and I just cannot wait to finish this one it's another one that's very very short and I can finish it super quickly I definitely want to bring it with me because I really think I'm going to enjoy it and finally the very last and I can't wait to read every single one I tried not to bring too many books that I've already read I just kept it to Harry Potter in the Night Circus because I know that I'm going to want to read new books definitely so I didn't want to bring too many just to reread but I am just so excited about all of these I'm really excited about going and moving in I'm still very very anxious I don't know how it's going to go it's going to be totally new and I'm trying to be optimistic about it and just look at it as a fun new experience let me know in the comments down below if you have read any of the books that I mentioned on this list which ones do you think that I should get to first because I don't know where to start honestly I'm too excited about all of them and also if you'd like to see how it's going to go it's going to be totally new and I'm trying to be optimistic about it and just look at it as a fun new experience let me know in the comments down below if you have read any of the books that I mentioned on this list which ones do you think that I should get to first because I don't know where to start honestly I'm too excited about all of them and also if you'd like to see
