2024 Kia EV9 – Specs Revealed!

The Kia EV-9: A Flagship Electric SUV with Next-Level Tech

Kind, captions, Language: en, not too long ago we got our first look at the upcoming Kia EV-9, it's an interesting and stylish three-row electric SUV that will serve as the flagship for the automaker. Now we know a lot more about what's going on Under the Skin as Kia has released a lot more information on this blocky bad boy.

The Kia EV-9 rides atop The automaker's eGMP or Electric Global Modular Platform, which gives it good access to power options and fast charging capability. It's an 800-volt system and Kia says it's capable of adding nearly 150 miles in as little as 15 minutes. The base level model is fitted with a 77.6 kilowatt-hour battery pack and has a single motor at the back. All other versions, however, get a larger 99.8 kilowatt-hour pack, and this setup will be offered with a single motor rear-wheel drive model or dual motor all-wheel drive versions.

The single motor EV-9 horsepower is rated at 214, while torque is 258 pound-feet. That's what the standard battery as horsepower actually dips to, with the long-range version not being quick but should return at least 280 miles of driving range. The more exciting version for now is the GT line model, which is the one that gets the dual motor setup power. Power here is rated 379 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque, but there's an over-boost mode that pushes torque all the way up to 516 pound-feet. Obviously, range won't be as great on this one, but that power will be far more useful out on the road.

Kia also plans to bring an EV-9 GT to market in 2025, and it's safe to assume it will deliver similar or better power figures than the impressive EV6 GT. Beyond the power, though, key is rolling out some Next-Level Tech on this thing right now. Kia is finalizing development of a Level 3 autonomous system it calls Highway Driving Pilot, which is a lidar-based system that will allow for a hands-off driving setup in certain situations. Kia says it will roll out down the road on future GT line models.

The EV-9 will offer up a digital key so you can use your phone to get in and start the thing or hand out a digital key for someone else to use if they borrow your vehicle via their phone, and you can also step back and let the EV-9 park itself. I still call the system SmartPak thanks to that Hyundai Super Bowl commercial from a few years ago, even though this system is probably more advanced and not on a vehicle with Hyundai badges.

Linguistics aside, the 2024 Kia EV-9 will arrive on dealer lots sometime in Q3 or Q4 of this year, early speculation on pricing thanks to some leaked info says the EV-9 will arrive starting just over $55 grand and run up past $73 grand not figuring in the future GT Mega model version. Regardless, this thing looks awesome with its own standout styling, can charge quickly, has a nice looking cabin space, and if you get the GT line model, you have good power on tap.

I can't wait to see one in person and I really can't wait to jump behind the wheel to test it out myself.
