the test PCS rather than read out pages of specs and stats I'll just put all of that on the screen right now feel free to pause the video and read it if you you like I do want to say these are premium builds using fresh installs of Windows good cooling good power supplies excellent storage and plenty of ram that is appropriate to the era in which each came out this is not Theory testing trying to remove every possible variable rather it's meant to show what a typical 1600x system would do versus a typical 5600x system using parts that made sense at the time they were both new keep in mind that if you upgrade a 300 series board running slower RAM and using an old stock cooler with a ryzen 5 5600x you will likely not match the performance numbers you see here because power delivery Ram speeds and cooling have improved since then the difference isn't the end of the world but it's there regardless we will start off with productivity tests first then get to the gaming tests it is worth noting that if you're serious about non-gaming performance there's not much of an upper limit to useful core counts or performance these Testament to give you an idea of the relative performance of each CPU and how they stack up when all of their cores are in use relative to each other if you make money with your PC then the ryzen 9 7950x or the I9 13900k are both worth a look 7-Zip is our first test we have broken out the compressing decompressing and total numbers for those of you who are interested however we're just going to focus on the total number at the bottom of the chart the 7600x is a whopping 115 percent faster than the 1600x that is an impressive performance gain in just five years having said that the 5600x gets most of the way there and it is a drop in upgrade to most 1600x based systems it is 71 faster than the 1600x not double the performance but still very impressive keep this result in mind when I discuss the recommendations at the end of the day idea the 7600x is 54 faster than the 3600x and 26 percent faster than the 5600x to put it all into perspective cinebench R23 is a popular test for comparing raw performance between CPUs and it includes a solid single thread test along with the multi-threaded one the 7600x is 106 faster in single thread and 117 percent faster in multi-thread versus the 1600x another impressive Improvement in five years the gains are still solid when we compare the 5600x to the 1600x the 5600x is about 60 percent faster overall which doesn't sound nearly as impressive as the 7600x however keep in mind that the 5600x is two years old and a drop in upgrade to most 1600x systems do you have a 3600x the 5600x provides a modest 20 Improvement in both single and multi-threaded performance a more interesting upgrade would be to the 7600x which is 55 percent faster in single and 61 percent faster in multi-thread versus the 3600x those are the sorts of gains you're likely to notice and it's why single generation upgrades are rarely worth the bother to put that further into perspective the 7600x is 29 faster in single and 35 percent faster in multi-thread versus the 5600x it's nice but it's not earth-shattering either cpu-z is a lovely utility that every Enthusiast should have installed it comes with its own built-in Benchmark as well here you can see the results which largely mirror cinebench so we won't repeat them all again blender is next and here we can clearly see how much improvement Zen 4 provides over the previous CPUs the Gap is quite large from Zen 3 to Zen 4. however as I noted before if you are a serious 3D animator the ryzen 9 7950x is calling your name the 7600x does beat the 1600x by more than 100 percent so that Trend continues as well we tested v-ray as well it mirrors blender almost perfectly so we didn't make a chart for it however this 7600x scored 11 692 V samples and the 7950x scored 29 845 V samples so once again if you are serious about it why are you here we have a ryzen 9 7950x review go watch that the link is in the video description below now it's time for the meat and potatoes of the video gaming benchmarks a few thoughts before we get to those so I don't repeat myself 42 times during the game footage we are testing at 1080p High detail using nrtx 3090 TI this is done to show the underlying gaming performance difference for each CPU as you increase resolution or lower the GPU performance the results will compress put an RTX 2070 on each CPU run the games at 1440p and a lot of the differences in average frame rates will vanish as the GPU becomes the limitation to Performance average frame rates are nice but they aren't what make a game feel fast the one percent lows are where it's really at and those will still show a difference even if the GPU becomes more of a bottleneck to average frame rate this also reflects what you can expect from future GPU upgrades an RTX 2070 carried over from a prior build will not show massive differences here especially in average frame rates but an RTX 4070 TI will two years from now the 5070 will be out and it will demolish the 3090 TI in performance the final point to keep in mind is the monitor that you are using not so much the resolution but rather the refresh rate so 60 hertz monitor owners may watch this and think gosh the ryzen 5 2600x is just fine I get 60 frames per second most of the time what's all the hype about while at the same time 144hz monitor owners may watch this and think gosh my 2600x is crap it can't even average 144 frames per second time for a massive upgrade both people are correct for their situations it's worth keeping in mind what kind of user you are when watching these results first up is Assassin's Creed Valhalla a demanding title to run from Ubisoft that showcases just what the new CPUs can really do we are not going to show every bit of footage from every test since six games don't fit well on the screen very well here you can see three of the CPUs being tested the 1600x is on top the 3600x is in the middle and the 7600x is on the bottom this 7600x is not double the performance of the 1600x but it sure is trying here is the chart with all the results you'll notice that we added the Intel i5 13600k at the bottom for your easy reference we are not focused on that CPU here it's just there so that you don't have to cross reference two different videos to get those results and compare them to the 7600x the 7600x is 75 percent faster than the 1600x in average frame rates however ever it's the one percent lows that really stand out with a 97 Improvement this will be noticed dramatically so even if your GPU is not this powerful or you're running higher than 1080p resolution this is even more so if you compare the 7600x to the 3600x in average frame rate the 7600x is 39 faster than the 3600x respectable but nowhere near the 71 percent Improvement in the one percent low this is why your CPU matters even if your averages are still okay next we have Battlefield 2042 featuring live gameplay on real servers against real people we feel that this is the best way to test CPUs as it provides a proper load to the CPU thanks to server interaction data processing and real-time gameplay to give us the real experience of how each CPU performs on the top you will find the 2600x in the middle you'll find the 5600x and on the bottom is the 7600x the performance difference from the 2600x to the 5600x is massive take a look at the average on the 2600 X and compare it to the one percent low on the 5600x these CPUs aren't even in the same universe despite being on the same am4 socket looking at the chart tells us much the same story with the one percent low on the 7600x being about equal to the average frame rate on the 3600x if you have a high refresh rate monitor then new CPUs are your new best friend the 7600x is faster than the 5600x but not by enough to blow your socks off unless you're a super competitive gamer however compared to the 2600x we are in a whole new ball game the 7600x is 145 percent faster than the 2600x in the average and 141 percent faster in the one percent low next we have Call of Duty Modern Warfare the 2019 reboot Edition in online multiplayer very similar to Battlefield 24 32 in retrospect this one turned out to be the hardest to test consistency between runs is poor and we often had to play half a dozen battles to find the middle ground on the plus side at least we're getting through the battle pass on the top you can see the 1600x in the middle of a 3600x and on the bottom is the 7600x being live gameplay you of course can't compare them frame by frame as you can built-in benchmarks however the CPU usage GPU usage vram used and Main system RAM used are all reflective of playing a real battle on real servers against real people at least that is on a clean test PC do keep in mind all of these machines have a fresh install of Windows 10 or Windows 11 on them nothing else is running updates are turned off and so these are ideal conditions here is the chart which I won't read all the numbers because the story is so similar to Battlefield the 5600x is pretty nice but the new CPUs really are A Cut Above if you want that super premium High refresh rate gaming experience next we have cyberpunk 2077 a game that should need no introduction this game is actually playable on a 1600x if you're okay with a one percent low that will not maintain 60 frames per second while stutters and lag will happen it is a single player game so saves and reloads are a thing it's an option at the very least having said that give this game more processing power and oh boy are you in for a treat I played this at home on my I9 9900k and found myself wishing for more CPU at times that should tell you something looking at the chart the first thing I want to point out is that six cores no matter how fast are not 8 12 or even 14 cores the I5 13600k is only six percent faster in the average versus the ryzen 5 7600x however it is 25 faster in the one percent low the 7600x is sixty percent faster in the average and 56 percent faster in the one percent low versus the 3600x for AMD fans that is a solid reason to change platforms right there the difference is even more dramatic versus the 1600x the 7600x is 123 faster in the average and 130 percent faster in the one percent low versus the 1600x if you don't want to change platforms that's totally understandable upgrade your 1600x to a 5600x which should be a drop-in upgrade and you'll see 83 percent higher averages and 75 percent higher one percent lows a solid Improvement for an inexpensive upgrade F1 2022 is next and as you can see the performance is great even on the lower end CPUs we are over 100 frames per second in the average and over 60 in the one percent low of course the 7600x is out of the world world at 355 frames per second average and a one percent low that is almost touching 200. it's actually higher than the average on the 3600x Crazy Fast performance I won't read out all the percentages this time you get the idea faster CPUs or faster Far Cry 6 is next and this game is a solid Tale of Two Gamers One Gamer wants to play at 60 frames per second is looking for a casual enjoyable time and simply does not require a super premium experience this gamer would be just fine using a ryzen 5 1600x and a mid-range graphics card to enjoy Far Cry 6 at these levels the next gamer owns a 144hz monitor and wants their game to feel like warm melted butter being spread over freshly cooked corn on the cob that gamer should go directly to Zen 4 or Raptor Lake do not pass go do not collect 200 and make sure you have a premium graphics card to go along with it the 1600x 2600x and 3600x will all provide that 60 frames per second the Casual Gamer is happy with no need for a whole new pc just yet the 5600x is an improvement but it still falls short with the one percent low that is not that much higher than the 3600x step up to the 7600x and now you've got a one percent low almost equal to the 5600x's average or step up to the 13 600k and your one percent low is now almost equal to your monitor's refresh rate high-end experiences require high-end computers film at 11. it is worth remembering that if you go premium in one area you need to go premium all the way around or you end up with an unbalanced PC that really doesn't get you what you were hoping for Guardians of the Galaxy is next and this is a beautiful game that really showcases the differences between these CPUs quite well the 1600x and 2600x are solid if unremarkable at around 60 frames per second the 3600x is a serious step up with a one percent low equal to the average on the 2600x the early 2010s this is very much not here is the chart with all of the results again I'm not going to read out 15 different percentages I think the results speak for themselves Hitman 3 is a heck of a challenging game to run the one percent lows do not get above 100 even on the best CPUs here you can see the 1600x on the top the 3600x in the middle and the 7600x on the bottom in front of the fireplace scene the 7600x has a CPU usage above 70 percent it is absolutely tasked to its limits similar to cyberpunk if you want to play games like this please get a CPU with more than six cores here is the chart with all of the numbers the 1600x and the 2600x are fine if not ideal the one percent lows are around 30. it is playable but it really is not that great the 3600x and the 5600x do step up a bit they're one percent lows approach but do not quite reach 60 frames per second and they have averages that rise around 100 frames per second you actually do have to step up to Zen 4 or Raptor Lake to get the one percent low above 60. and that's at 1080p High detail with a 30 90 ti no less Spider-Man remastered is next and we're going to do something a bit different this time we're going to show you the full screen performance of each CPU in sequence so you can get an idea of the whole gameplay experience let us know in the comment section below if you like this change up it is not something we do very often the 1600x is solid if unremarkable holding just over 60 frames per second in the average and 40 in the one percent low look at that graphics card usage talk about a CPU bottleneck the 2600x is a slight Improvement now we're in the 70 plus frame per second range and the one percent low has improved slightly overall it's better but not by enough to notice outside of a benchmark the 3600x shows a real improvement with the average over 100 frames per second this time and the one percent low at 60 frames per second the graphics card usage has risen the game overall is smoother and easier to play with reduced input lag that is noticeable at times the 5600x steps it up closer to 144 Hertz monitor levels at least for the average frame rate and now the frame time graph has started to smooth out with more evenly distributed frames the one percent low hasn't come up by much however this really is a better experience for high refresh rate monitor users the 7600x finally cleans up the frame time graph and this has become a butter smooth experience the one percent low is approaching 100 frames per second but most importantly a majority of frames are closer to 200 frames per second so this really will be a feast for the eyes for 144 Hertz and up monitor owners we're still GPU bottlenecked but overall it's a beautiful and pleasant experience the I5 13600k is similar overall to the 7600x with the benefit of a bit more reserved performance in the e-cores for other background tasks that the 7600x lacks for Pure gaming it's an effective tie between the two CPUs here is the chart with all of the results you can see in number form what you just watched in recorded footage form the 1600x and the 2600x are in one League the 3600x and the 5600x are in the Middle Ground limbo League and the 7600x and the 13600k are honestly in A League of Their Own finally we have Tiny Tina's wonderlands say that 10 times fast if you dare this game scales quite well with CPU performance despite being totally CPU bottlenecked on the first three CPUs and partly on the 5600x it isn't until we reach the 7600x and the 13600k that we become graphics card bound here still we have solid performance across the board this should be playable on any of these CPUs here's the chart showing the numbers pause if you want to study them all before we get to the 10 game average results I just want to give a huge shout out to AMD for five years of awesome ryzen performance and the incredible upgrade options open to am4 owners the ability to drop a 5600x into a five-year-old 1600x PC and get a noticeable performance upgrade is pretty sweet we don't yet know if am5 will repeat this AMD has promised support until 2025 that's three years from now only time will tell if lightning strikes twice or if the line from Batman was actually correct you either die the hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain launch prices of am5 are expensive far more than anything from am4 hopefully we see some deals on Zen 4 soon regardless Dr Lisa Sue and her whole team deserve credit for kicking Intel squarely in the pants and lighting a fire in the PC World it was getting kind of depressing in the mid-2010s with Intel asleep at the wheel here is the 10 game average chart and to all of you who watched this entire video exactly none of you are surprised not to worry I'll take you through it anyway since math homework was not assigned at the start of this video the 7600x is 136 faster in the average and 142 percent faster in the one percent low versus the 1600x that's incredible for five years we haven't seen that level Improvement for a long time the mid 2000s about 15 years ago was the last time I remember gains at this level the 7600x is 112 percent faster in the average and 122 percent faster in the one percent low versus the 2600x not quite as massive an improvement but still slap you upside the head with a cold wet fish levels of awesome the 7600x is 62 percent faster in the average and 71 percent faster in the one percent low versus the 3600x this is not double the performance but it's still noticeable without benchmarks or a frame rate counter it is a solid upgrade for anyone looking for an awesome experience the 5600x is is where it becomes questionable as to the value of an upgrade as the 7600x is 28 faster on average and 33 percent faster in the one percent lows those are big gains for a single generation but it's an expensive upgrade to get them those results are impressive Zen 4 is a serious Step Up in performance if only it didn't cost so much if you're watching this in the fall of 2023 and you're yelling at your monitor right now hey Jack don't you know Zen four is cheap now well no I don't know that in November of 2022 when this is being written if that ends up being the case then awesome everybody is a winner for existing early am4 owners that deal by far is to drop a Zen 3 CPU into your am4 board and call it a day at least for a while the ryzen 5 5600x has been as low as 129 dollars recently and slightly more budget 5500 has been under 100 the 5600x is 84 faster on average and 82 percent faster in the one percent lows versus the 1600x now that's not nearly as dramatic as the 7600x but it's a sub 150 drop-in upgrade the value here is off the scale the 7600x is 66 faster on average and 67 percent faster in the one percent low versus the 2600x still 100 worth doing an upgrade more or less for anyone who owns one these are huge gains that will be easy to notice the 5600 X is 27 faster on average and 28 faster in the one percent lows versus the 3600x this is where it gets harder to give advice because those gains while solid aren't a cold bucket of water dumped on the head obvious levels of improvement still you can sell a 3600x CPU for about eighty dollars and you can buy a 5600x for about a hundred and thirty dollars so you're looking at fifty dollars to gain about thirty percent performance let's see how do I put this folks why haven't you all upgraded already am4 is just screaming for a Zen 3 drop-in upgrade at least if you can either repurpose or sell your existing CPU these prices make for an easy upgrade decision so who should buy Zen for you ask honestly people who don't already own am4 Zen 4 is expensive it can make sense if you're completely changing platforms anyway moving from an i5 6400 or an i5 8400 or an fx 8300 or something else older that needs a complete system replacement or you can buy an i5 13600k you get 14 cores for the same money less expensive motherboards less expensive ddr4 Ram that does not matter unless you're on a RTX 4090 and you can keep it for three or four years and call it a day the choice is yours looking for because power delivery Ram speeds and cooling have improved since then the difference isn't the end of the world but it's there regardless we will start off with productivity tests first then get to the gaming tests it is worth noting that if you're serious about non-gaming performance there's not much of an upper limit to useful core counts or performance these Testament to give you an idea of the relative performance of each CPU and how they stack up when all of their cores are in use relative to each other if you make money with your PC then the ryzen 9 7950x or the I9 13900k are both worth a look 7-Zip is our first test we have broken out the compressing decompressing and total numbers for those of you who are interested however we're just going to focus on the total number at the bottom of the chart the 7600x is a whopping 115 percent faster than the 1600x that is an impressive performance gain in just five years having said that the 5600x gets most of the way there and it is a drop in upgrade to most 1600x based systems it is 71 faster than the 1600x not double the performance but still very impressive keep this result in mind when I discuss the recommendations at the end of the day idea the 7600x is 54 faster than the 3600x and 26 percent faster than the 5600x to put it all into perspective cinebench R23 is a popular test for comparing raw performance between CPUs and it includes a solid single thread test along with the multi-threaded one the 7600x is 106 faster in single thread and 117 percent faster in multi-thread versus the 1600x another impressive Improvement in five years the gains are still solid when we compare the 5600x to the 1600x the 5600x is about 60 percent faster overall which doesn't sound nearly as impressive as the 7600x however keep in mind that the 5600x is two years old and a drop in upgrade to most 1600x systems do you have a 3600x the 5600x provides a modest 20 Improvement in both single and multi-threaded performance a more interesting upgrade would be to the 7600x which is 55 percent faster in single and 61 percent faster in multi-thread versus the 3600x those are the sorts of gains you're likely to notice and it's why single generation upgrades are rarely worth the bother to put that further into perspective the 7600x is 29 faster in single and 35 percent faster in multi-thread versus the 5600x it's nice but it's not earth-shattering either cpu-z is a lovely utility that every Enthusiast should have installed it comes with its own built-in Benchmark as well here you can see the results which largely mirror cinebench so we won't repeat them all again blender is next and here we can clearly see how much improvement Zen 4 provides over the previous CPUs the Gap is quite large from Zen 3 to Zen 4. however as I noted before if you are a serious 3D animator the ryzen 9 7950x is calling your name the 7600x does beat the 1600x by more than 100 percent so that Trend continues as well we tested v-ray as well it mirrors blender almost perfectly so we didn't make a chart for it however this 7600x scored 11 692 V samples and the 7950x scored 29 845 V samples so once again if you are serious about it why are you here we have a ryzen 9 7950x review go watch that the link is in the video description below now it's time for the meat and potatoes of the video gaming benchmarks a few thoughts before we get to those so I don't repeat myself 42 times during the game footage we are testing at 1080p High detail using nrtx 3090 TI this is done to show the underlying gaming performance difference for each CPU as you increase resolution or lower the GPU performance the results will compress put an RTX 2070 on each CPU run the games at 1440p and a lot of the differences in average frame rates will vanish as the GPU becomes the limitation to Performance average frame rates are nice but they aren't what make a game feel fast the one percent lows are where it's really at and those will still show a difference even if the GPU becomes more of a bottleneck to average frame rate this also reflects what you can expect from future GPU upgrades an RTX 2070 carried over from a prior build will not show massive differences here especially in average frame rates but an RTX 4070 TI will two years from now the 5070 will be out and it will demolish the 3090 TI in performance the final point to keep in mind is the monitor that you are using not so much the resolution but rather the refresh rate so 60 hertz monitor owners may watch this and think gosh the ryzen 5 2600x is just fine I get 60 frames per second most of the time what's all the hype about while at the same time 144hz monitor owners may watch this and think gosh my 2600x is crap it can't even average 144 frames per second time for a massive upgrade both people are correct for their situations it's worth keeping in mind what kind of user you are when watching these results first up is Assassin's Creed Valhalla a demanding title to run from Ubisoft that showcases just what the new CPUs can really do we are not going to show every bit of footage from every test since six games don't fit well on the screen very well here you can see three of the CPUs being tested the 1600x is on top the 3600x is in the middle and the 7600x is on the bottom this 7600x is not double the performance of the 1600x but it sure is trying here is the chart with all the results you'll notice that we added the Intel i5 13600k at the bottom for your easy reference we are not focused on that CPU here it's just there so that you don't have to cross reference two different videos to get those results and compare them to the 7600x the 7600x is 75 percent faster than the 1600x in average frame rates however ever it's the one percent lows that really stand out with a 97 Improvement this will be noticed dramatically so even if your GPU is not this powerful or you're running higher than 1080p resolution this is even more so if you compare the 7600x to the 3600x in average frame rate the 7600x is 39 faster than the 3600x respectable but nowhere near the 71 percent Improvement in the one percent low this is why your CPU matters even if your averages are still okay next we have Battlefield 2042 featuring live gameplay on real servers against real people we feel that this is the best way to test CPUs as it provides a proper load to the CPU thanks to server interaction data processing and real-time gameplay to give us the real experience of how each CPU performs on the top you will find the 2600x in the middle you'll find the 5600x and on the bottom is the 7600x the performance difference from the 2600x to the 5600x is massive take a look at the average on the 2600 X and compare it to the one percent low on the 5600x these CPUs aren't even in the same universe despite being on the same am4 socket looking at the chart tells us much the same story with the one percent low on the 7600x being about equal to the average frame rate on the 3600x if you have a high refresh rate monitor then new CPUs are your new best friend the 7600x is faster than the 5600x but not by enough to blow your socks off unless you're a super competitive gamer however compared to the 2600x we are in a whole new ball game the 7600x is 145 percent faster than the 2600x in the average and 141 percent faster in the one percent low next we have Call of Duty Modern Warfare the 2019 reboot Edition in online multiplayer very similar to Battlefield 24 32 in retrospect this one turned out to be the hardest to test consistency between runs is poor and we often had to play half a dozen battles to find the middle ground on the plus side at least we're getting through the battle pass on the top you can see the 1600x in the middle of a 3600x and on the bottom is the 7600x being live gameplay you of course can't compare them frame by frame as you can built-in benchmarks however the CPU usage GPU usage vram used and Main system RAM used are all reflective of playing a real battle on real servers against real people at least that is on a clean test PC do keep in mind all of these machines have a fresh install of Windows 10 or Windows 11 on them nothing else is running updates are turned off and so these are ideal conditions here is the chart which I won't read all the numbers because the story is so similar to Battlefield the 5600x is pretty nice but the new CPUs really are A Cut Above if you want that super premium High refresh rate gaming experience next we have cyberpunk 2077 a game that should need no introduction this game is actually playable on a 1600x if you're okay with a one percent low that will not maintain 60 frames per second while stutters and lag will happen it is a single player game so saves and reloads are a thing it's an option at the very least having said that give this game more processing power and oh boy are you in for a treat I played this at home on my I9 9900k and found myself wishing for more CPU at times that should tell you something looking at the chart the first thing I want to point out is that six cores no matter how fast are not 8 12 or even 14 cores the I5 13600k is only six percent faster in the average versus the ryzen 5 7600x however it is 25 faster in the one percent low the 7600x is sixty percent faster in the average and 56 percent faster in the one percent low versus the 3600x for AMD fans that is a solid reason to change platforms right there the difference is even more dramatic versus the 1600x the 7600x is 123 faster in the average and 130 percent faster in the one percent low versus the 1600x if you don't want to change platforms that's totally understandable upgrade your 1600x to a 5600x which should be a drop-in upgrade and you'll see 83 percent higher averages and 75 percent higher one percent lows a solid Improvement for an inexpensive upgrade F1 2022 is next and as you can see the performance is great even on the lower end CPUs we are over 100 frames per second in the average and over 60 in the one percent low of course the 7600x is out of the world world at 355 frames per second average and a one percent low that is almost touching 200. it's actually higher than the average on the 3600x Crazy Fast performance I won't read out all the percentages this time you get the idea faster CPUs or faster Far Cry 6 is next and this game is a solid Tale of Two Gamers One Gamer wants to play at 60 frames per second is looking for a casual enjoyable time and simply does not require a super premium experience this gamer would be just fine using a ryzen 5 1600x and a mid-range graphics card to enjoy Far Cry 6 at these levels the next gamer owns a 144hz monitor and wants their game to feel like warm melted butter being spread over freshly cooked corn on the cob that gamer should go directly to Zen 4 or Raptor Lake do not pass go do not collect 200 and make sure you have a premium graphics card to go along with it the 1600x 2600x and 3600x will all provide that 60 frames per second the Casual Gamer is happy with no need for a whole new pc just yet the 5600x is an improvement but it still falls short with the one percent low that is not that much higher than the 3600x step up to the 7600x and now you've got a one percent low almost equal to the 5600x's average or step up to the 13 600k and your one percent low is now almost equal to your monitor's refresh rate high-end experiences require high-end computers film at 11. it is worth remembering that if you go premium in one area you need to go premium all the way around or you end up with an unbalanced PC that really doesn't get you what you were hoping for Guardians of the Galaxy is next and this is a beautiful game that really showcases the differences between these CPUs quite well the 1600x and 2600x are solid if unremarkable at around 60 frames per second the 3600x is a serious step up with a one percent low equal to the average on the 2600x the early 2010s this is very much not here is the chart with all of the results again I'm not going to read out 15 different percentages I think the results speak for themselves Hitman 3 is a heck of a challenging game to run the one percent lows do not get above 100 even on the best CPUs here you can see the 1600x on the top the 3600x in the middle and the 7600x on the bottom in front of the fireplace scene the 7600x has a CPU usage above 70 percent it is absolutely tasked to its limits similar to cyberpunk if you want to play games like this please get a CPU with more than six cores here is the chart with all of the numbers the 1600x and the 2600x are fine if not ideal the one percent lows are around 30. it is playable but it really is not that great the 3600x and the 5600x do step up a bit they're one percent lows approach but do not quite reach 60 frames per second and they have averages that rise around 100 frames per second you actually do have to step up to Zen 4 or Raptor Lake to get the one percent low above 60. and that's at 1080p High detail with a 30 90 ti no less Spider-Man remastered is next and we're going to do something a bit different this time we're going to show you the full screen performance of each CPU in sequence so you can get an idea of the whole gameplay experience let us know in the comment section below if you like this change up it is not something we do very often the 1600x is solid if unremarkable holding just over 60 frames per second in the average and 40 in the one percent low look at that graphics card usage talk about a CPU bottleneck the 2600x is a slight Improvement now we're in the 70 plus frame per second range and the one percent low has improved slightly overall it's better but not by enough to notice outside of a benchmark the 3600x shows a real improvement with the average over 100 frames per second this time and the one percent low at 60 frames per second the graphics card usage has risen the game overall is smoother and easier to play with reduced input lag that is noticeable at times the 5600x steps it up closer to 144 Hertz monitor levels at least for the average frame rate and now the frame time graph has started to smooth out with more evenly distributed frames the one percent low hasn't come up by much however this really is a better experience for high refresh rate monitor users the 7600x finally cleans up the frame time graph and this has become a butter smooth experience the one percent low is approaching 100 frames per second but most importantly a majority of frames are closer to 200 frames per second so this really will be a feast for the eyes for 144 Hertz and up monitor owners we're still GPU bottlenecked but overall it's a beautiful and pleasant experience the I5 13600k is similar overall to the 7600x with the benefit of a bit more reserved performance in the e-cores for other background tasks that the 7600x lacks for Pure gaming it's an effective tie between the two CPUs here is the chart with all of the results you can see in number form what you just watched in recorded footage form the 1600x and the 2600x are in one League the 3600x and the 5600x are in the Middle Ground limbo League and the 7600x and the 13600k are honestly in A League of Their Own finally we have Tiny Tina's wonderlands say that 10 times fast if you dare this game scales quite well with CPU performance despite being totally CPU bottlenecked on the first three CPUs and partly on the 5600x it isn't until we reach the 7600x and the 13600k that we become graphics card bound here still we have solid performance across the board this should be playable on any of these CPUs here's the chart showing the numbers pause if you want to study them all before we get to the 10 game average results I just want to give a huge shout out to AMD for five years of awesome ryzen performance and the incredible upgrade options open to am4 owners the ability to drop a 5600x into a five-year-old 1600x PC and get a noticeable performance upgrade is pretty sweet we don't yet know if am5 will repeat this AMD has promised support until 2025 that's three years from now only time will tell if lightning strikes twice or if the line from Batman was actually correct you either die the hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain launch prices of am5 are expensive far more than anything from am4 hopefully we see some deals on Zen 4 soon regardless Dr Lisa Sue and her whole team deserve credit for kicking Intel squarely in the pants and lighting a fire in the PC World it was getting kind of depressing in the mid-2010s with Intel asleep at the wheel here is the 10 game average chart and to all of you who watched this entire video exactly none of you are surprised not to worry I'll take you through it anyway since math homework was not assigned at the start of this video the 7600x is 136 faster in the average and 142 percent faster in the one percent low versus the 1600x that's incredible for five years we haven't seen that level Improvement for a long time the mid 2000s about 15 years ago was the last time I remember gains at this level the 7600x is 112 percent faster in the average and 122 percent faster in the one percent low versus the 2600x not quite as massive an improvement but still slap you upside the head with a cold wet fish levels of awesome the 7600x is 62 percent faster in the average and 71 percent faster in the one percent low versus the 3600x this is not double the performance but it's still noticeable without benchmarks or a frame rate counter it is a solid upgrade for anyone looking for an awesome experience the 5600x is is where it becomes questionable as to the value of an upgrade as the 7600x is 28 faster on average and 33 percent faster in the one percent lows those are big gains for a single generation but it's an expensive upgrade to get them those results are impressive Zen 4 is a serious Step Up in performance if only it didn't cost so much if you're watching this in the fall of 2023 and you're yelling at your monitor right now hey Jack don't you know Zen four is cheap now well no I don't know that in November of 2022 when this is being written if that ends up being the case then awesome everybody is a winner for existing early am4 owners that deal by far is to drop a Zen 3 CPU into your am4 board and call it a day at least for a while the ryzen 5 5600x has been as low as 129 dollars recently and slightly more budget 5500 has been under 100 the 5600x is 84 faster on average and 82 percent faster in the one percent lows versus the 1600x now that's not nearly as dramatic as the 7600x but it's a sub 150 drop-in upgrade the value here is off the scale the 7600x is 66 faster on average and 67 percent faster in the one percent low versus the 2600x still 100 worth doing an upgrade more or less for anyone who owns one these are huge gains that will be easy to notice the 5600 X is 27 faster on average and 28 faster in the one percent lows versus the 3600x this is where it gets harder to give advice because those gains while solid aren't a cold bucket of water dumped on the head obvious levels of improvement still you can sell a 3600x CPU for about eighty dollars and you can buy a 5600x for about a hundred and thirty dollars so you're looking at fifty dollars to gain about thirty percent performance let's see how do I put this folks why haven't you all upgraded already am4 is just screaming for a Zen 3 drop-in upgrade at least if you can either repurpose or sell your existing CPU these prices make for an easy upgrade decision so who should buy Zen for you ask honestly people who don't already own am4 Zen 4 is expensive it can make sense if you're completely changing platforms anyway moving from an i5 6400 or an i5 8400 or an fx 8300 or something else older that needs a complete system replacement or you can buy an i5 13600k you get 14 cores for the same money less expensive motherboards less expensive ddr4 Ram that does not matter unless you're on a RTX 4090 and you can keep it for three or four years and call it a day the choice is yours looking for nuts you can get z690 boards that will take it for 150 dollars and you could put 32 gigs of ddr4 3600 RAM on for 80 dollars Zen 4 can't touch those prices because they didn't support ddr4 it is what it is regardless of what you do we have options we have competition we are all the winners whether you buy AMD whether you buy Intel it almost doesn't matter they're both awesome prices vary features and support and cores vary but the truth is these newer CPUs are dramatically and noticeably faster than just a couple of years ago and the mid-2010s were getting kind of scary and boring there so I
