iOS 6 Turn By Turn Navigation Demo & 3D Flyover Maps Review Running on iPhone 4! 4S_iPad 3

Introduction to iOS 6 Maps

Hey guys, everything Apple Pro here and in this video I'm going to be showing you guys a demo of the maps in iOS 6. A turn-by-turn navigation is what we're going to focus on today, and I'll also be sharing with you what I like about iOS 6 Maps and what I don't like.

Filming in an Unusual Location

I'm currently filming in an unusual location that's different from my usual studio. This will give me the opportunity to showcase iOS 6 Maps in a real-world setting, which is exactly what we're going for today. Let's get started with navigating to Voodoo Donuts in downtown Portland.

Starting Navigation

To begin navigation, I just need to select the destination using the GPS on my iPhone. It's as simple as that – tap on the screen where you want to go, and the map will take care of the rest. Now, let me start this route by tapping "Start". The map is now guiding me towards Voodoo Donuts.

Driving in an Unusual Location

As I drive through the streets, you can see what's going on with the GPS. It's providing turn-by-turn directions, which is exactly what we need for navigation. However, it's worth noting that this is still a beta version of iOS 6 Maps, so you'll notice some glitches along the way. Don't worry, these will be fixed in the final version.

The Clean Interface

One of the first things I want to highlight about iOS 6 Maps is how clean and intuitive the interface is. Everything looks very neat and organized, making it easy to navigate even for those who aren't familiar with the map app on their iPhone. The layout is simple yet effective, providing all the necessary information without overwhelming you.

Comparison to Android

While I'm still a fan of Google Maps on Android devices, I have to admit that iOS 6 Maps has its own strengths. For one, the battery life is amazing – it's been running for over two and a half hours already! This means you can enjoy navigation for longer periods without worrying about your iPhone dying.

Audio Quality

Another feature worth mentioning is the audio quality of the map app. When I drive in noisy environments like this, I'm usually surprised by how well the GPS handles it. The volume is just right, and I can still hear everything clearly – even with road noise and other distractions around me.

Countdown Feature

One feature that's really useful for navigation is the countdown timer. This shows you exactly how many feet are left to reach your destination, which helps you plan your route and avoid traffic congestion. It's a simple yet effective feature that makes navigating easier and more efficient.

Reaching Destination

We're finally here at Voodoo Donuts! The GPS has guided us perfectly throughout the journey, and I'm impressed with how quickly we arrived at our destination. This is just one example of how iOS 6 Maps can help you navigate your way through unfamiliar cities.

Flyover Maps Feature

Finally, let's take a look at one of the coolest features in iOS 6 Maps: flyover maps. With this feature, you can see your city in stunning detail, with 3D buildings and scenery that looks like a real-world model. It's an amazing way to explore new places, even if you're just using your iPhone. I've highlighted two skyscrapers here – by sliding my finger up on the screen, I can see more of them.

Conclusion

That's it for today's video on iOS 6 Maps! As you've seen, this new navigation app has a lot to offer. From its clean interface and amazing battery life to its useful features like the countdown timer and flyover maps, there's something for everyone in iOS 6 Maps.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys everything Apple Pro here and in this video I'm going to be showing you guys a demo of the maps in iOS 6 a turn-by-turn navigation and yes I'm filming in an unusual Place different from my little studio and I'm going to be showing you guys just what I like about iOS 6 Maps what I don't like and overall just how it works now right now I'm at Jansen Beach and I'm just going to end this navigation right here and let's go to Voodoo Donuts in uh downtown Portland there you go and it found it easily enough all right just going to select directions to here route and then we can click Start starting route to vooo and it's as simple as that guysen so I'm going to put it on its Mount and hopefully it won't be too bumpy you guys can see what's going on and because it is still a beta you'll notice some glitches found in this version of maps as you can see there's these bars right here it'll go away in a little bit once we start driving but it is quite annoying to have to have these little glitches here and there but of course in the final version you won't be seeing that so all right let's go now one of the first thing you guys will notice is how clean everything looks everything looks very neat now of course this is Apple based Maps no longer Google's but compared to Android I actually still prefer Android the layout is a little bit better but overall it's very simple it's straight to the point so you know exactly what you're looking at and where you're going and overall the battery life is amazing I mean compared to Androids Android will drain your battery life in uh probably 2 hours this one is is actually going strong for already 2 and 1/2 hours and the battery life with this application is amazing so all right let's get going now I apologize in advance for the screen quality I mean it is hard to see when the sun is shining down on the iPhone and it's a reflective screen so sorry about that but right off the bat I want to say this app is going to be updated every single day since the Creator is TomTom basically you won't need any updates it'll be updating on its own every single day the volume of this app is actually really great you can hear it from uh noisy cabin I mean I drive in Audi it's really not that loud to begin with but some roads aren't the quietest and you can hear it actually very good so quality wise for the audio is very good so now I'm going to deliberately miss an exit and see how long it takes to recalculate uh from my experience it's actually very fast and the one thing that I don't like about this uh application is that it doesn't have a spedometer sometimes I like to look at the GPS and just see what the speed limit is take Exit us6 East 9 and there you go it did recalculate took a while but here I am back on the track to get some donuts so here we go now if you guys want to know the estimated time of arrival or how far away you are or in how many minutes you'll get there just tap the screen and this little menu will pop up and it'll say everything right there simple as that man this is harder than I thought filming while driving going to get an offender Bender so let's hope I get there safe really like the countdown feature it'll let you know how many feet there are till you have to take your exit as you can see right there 500 400 City Center very useful feature so here we are getting close I can already smell them and we've pretty much made it to the spot so overall guys like I said I really like it very smooth I would recommend getting it and this is an iPhone 4 by the way so of course you guys will be able to install on older devices I will have tutorial up on that soon so stay tuned guys anyways of course like and favor this video subscribe for more arrived at Voodoo and I hope you enjoyed this video peace and very quickly I wanted to show you guys a flyover Maps feature found in iOS 6 basically you can see your city in 3D and let me just show you give you a depth of this you can also slide two fingers up and you can see all the skyscrapers here this is in Chicago Illinois now this hasn't been updated for all cities yet but it just looks amazing if you have time to play around with it it's like a little model at your disposal and it looks very cool so that's just a very neat feature found in iOS 6 fly over 3D mapshey guys everything
