I'M IN CANADA!

The Vlogger's Canadian Adventure: A Day in Toronto

As I sit here in Toronto, I must say that this is my first time in Canada and I'm excited to explore this new city. My previous visits to Montreal and Niagara Falls were brief, but not exactly representative of the country as a whole. Now, I find myself in Kensington Market Square, ready to embark on a culinary adventure.

The prospect of trying chicken and waffles had me intrigued, and I was eager to see if it would live up to its reputation. As we wandered through the market, I was struck by the abundance of tattoos and dispensaries – not exactly what I was looking for today. However, the pizza at our chosen eatery was a different story altogether. The flavors were rich and satisfying, with my salad being a particular highlight. With our hunger temporarily satiated, we set off towards the Eaton Centre Mall, where an Apple store awaited us.

We also planned to stop by Tim Horton's to pick up some donuts and coffee – a quintessential Canadian experience that I had been eager to try. As we waited for our Uber to arrive, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement about exploring this new city. And explore it we did, arriving at the mall just as a torrential downpour began. But even in the face of bad weather, our spirits remained high.

As we ventured into the Apple store, I was struck by how much it reminded me of one back home – it felt like we were at home. The familiar layout and design made me feel comfortable, and I couldn't help but smile as I picked up my new Nike band. It was a small moment, but one that brought back fond memories of shopping at malls in my hometown.

Our next stop was the LensCrafters store, where I had previously purchased contact lenses for my parents. I was excited to browse their selection and pick up some new glasses frames – it's always a pleasure to visit this store. As I browsed through the racks, I couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia wash over me.

As we continued our shopping spree, we stumbled upon another store that caught my eye: Natural Wellness. This store was an older-designed Apple store, one that reminded me of the South Hills Village mall back home. The atmosphere felt cozy and welcoming, and I enjoyed browsing through their selection of health supplements and wellness products.

After a fun-filled day of shopping and eating, I couldn't help but feel grateful for this experience in Toronto. It was a reminder that even in unfamiliar places, there's always something to discover – whether it's a delicious meal, a quirky store, or a sense of belonging.

lot of you guys might not know this,or you might know this, that I am a huge Tool fan.And I have been for a really long time.So on Monday I get to gosee them and I'm doinglike the VIP experience, so everything together. So I was like, \"Des, I'mhome, we gotta go see Tool.\"And the one response that she had was,\"I remember when we lived together,\"you would be blaringyour heavy metal music\"and I would be trying to sleep.\"Very very accurate.(upbeat music)(upbeat music)(upbeat music)We made it!Des!- Hi!- I'm so excited to see you! This is gonna be so great! We haven't been to ashow together in a while.- Oh gosh, this is a big one too.- Well yeah, I told themearlier that you saidthat I used to play my heavy metal musicreally loud at night. (laughs)- She did, kept me up all night.- I'm so sorry!Okay, we're off to see Tool, let's go let's go let's go!Vloggin' on my phone 'causethey're gonna take it.And we're not allowed to have cameras.Gosh I feel like I'm goin'to some sort of prison.(upbeat music)(upbeat music)(upbeat music)Hello my sweet friends,I never ended my vlog. Now I never ended thevlog, but this vlog seemslike it was basically never ending.I mean, so many thingshappened in this video,it's been over thecourse of several weeks. So there are a few looseends that I needed to tie up.So I'm vlogging on my iPhone,I packed up everything.I'm about to head downtown for E3,it's coming up super super soon. Some things that I needed to address.I needed to finish up mystory of talking about Tooland what they mean to me.But first, let's go throughour goodie bag that we got.It was so crazy not being ableto have my phone or do anything.I mean I completely had no contact.Oh, we got some drum sticks.(drums on leg)That hurts.Um, okay cool.2017.Tool keychain. We've got a wristband.Oh, it's like a little USB charger. My leg hurts from drumming on it.I'm an idiot.Guitar picks.I used to know so many of theTool intros to their songs.Or course, they werenever probably correctand I probably wasplaying in the wrong key,and not at the correct rhythm. And of course this great bag.So in high school, I uh, I don't know,I mean I'd like to say Iwas a little eccentric,I'm not sure, I didn'treally do all the thingsthat most other people were doing.I did a lot of the opposite, actually. If somebody liked something, I was like,\"I don't like that.\"So I found the band Tool around 1999.I definitely listened todifferent type of musicthan I feel like I listen to now.I mean now, I prettymuch listen to top 50.I just got on Spotify, alright top 100 songs, cool.I'm gonna listen to that. But I used to listen to a lot of,I guess, heavy metal music.Definitely a lot heavierthan I listen to now.But Tool was one of the bands that just,I gravitated to so much. And for so many different reasons.Their music, their musicvideos, them in general. They're always so super secretive.Like you don't knowanything really about them. You never know what's going on.Their shows are alwaysso strange and weirdand just, so different than anythingthat I feel like anybody else was doing. So for me, I was like that's pretty cool.Tool is like me, they don'tdo things the traditional way. They're not a radio band, but yet they can stillsell out arenas to this day.Which is so freaking awesome.Anyway, it was just so much fun.I could go on and talkingabout this pretty much forever.Because high school Justine, was basically living outsomething that she never reallywould have thought was possible.I know for a lot of you guys, you guys are probably young,or maybe you're my age, or you're older. But if you are young, ifyou are in high schoolor middle school, nomatter what is going onin your life right now, you're gonna look back onthat time and just be like, \"wow.\"Because I'm lookingback like 20 years ago, where I was, and what I was doing, and I still sort of havethose same interest. But how this band has impacted me,how Steve Jobs has impacted me,how my parents have impactedeverything that I'm doing. So those are sorta like,my three main inspirations. My parents, Steve Jobs, Tool.We had this one high school art project, where I was creating a stop-motion video,I was trying to recreatethe sober music video. And let me tell you what...♪ Shrouding every step I take, ♪♪ Making every promise empty ♪My final project, looked like trash.I was going through frame by frame, trying to recreate thisentire insane imagery. And I did a pretty terriblejob, but I feel likethe combination of lovingApple, and loving the creativityand the eccentric nature ofTool, are some of the twothing that for me in high school, really powered my motivation to get intodoing things that are creative. To making videos, and not worrying aboutthe traditional routeand the way that peopleare normally supposed to do things. So what I'm saying, is peoplemight tell you one thing, and you might believe another. So it's not always a bad thingto sort of go your own route. But don't always disregardthings that people tell you, because a lot of times, people have already livedthrough the things thatyou're dealing with. Those struggled that youmight be going through now,I might have already had those.Your parents have probably alreadygone through the same thing.Whoever's giving you that advice,it could be coming from a place of saying,\"hey, I don't want you to make\"the same mistake that I did.\"But yet here's the kicker,we're still going to do it anyway.Because most of thetime, and unfortunately, the only way that you learn your lesson,is be making the mistake yourself. This video has gone, I don'teven know which direction.I'm gonna leave you guys, because I have to go finish packing. And I just realized, myother camera is right hereand I could've been usingan actual camera. (laughs)I packed up my other vlogging camera,'cause I'm ready to goand I'm heading out now.And I could've used a real one whatever. At this point, in this video,if anybody has made it this far,go comment \"hallelujah\" in the comments. So I'm just gonna give youguys a little PSA here, you probably shouldn'tfly a drone in the fog.I knew it was a bad idea, but I did it anyway.Which is really, I mean I even said that.Didn't I even say inthe beginning of this,it was a bad idea?- Yup.(drone whirs) -Oh my god it's taking off.Oh my god, wait, oh nowait, am I doing that?- I think you are.(drone whirs) Nope, I'm not.I'm definitely not doingthat. (drone whirs)- Landing. (drone whirs)- Um, not listeningto me, at all. (drone whirs)- Oh god! (drone whirs)I didn't know it would fall!Could you please do that again,I totally missed what just happened.- No, I can't do it again. So, not only is itraining, it's super misty,so it started interfering with my drone. And it started landing by itself. And I had to run into the bush-- She literally just ran-- and catch it.- into the bush, and just grabbed it-- I did, yeah.- out of the air.- There was like a motherlyinstinct that kicked in,and I dove into thosebushes to save my baby!- That's the fastestI've ever seen her move.- (laughs)- (gasps)- Hi, Ro!- Hello.- I'm vloggin' on my iPhone today'cause it's-- Pretty cool.- it's just easier.Where are we right now?- We're on set, look around.- (gasps)- Good mythical morning!- Good mythical morning!I'm so excited.- Me too.- I feel like we're on set of this iconic,I mean it is iconic.- I know, I almost wanna leavesomethin' that's like us.Like in the background.- Okay.- Like a 'lil easter egg.- Let's do it, we'll think about it.- Link's gonna be like, \"no, don't do it.\"- They're gonna come in and they're like,\"something is out of place.\"I should've brought something.- Oh I didn't bring anything.- Mm, I bet I can find something.- (whispers) okay.- Okay, we're gonna go.There's a really greatchance that this vlogcould possibly be from the past month.I film a lot of stuffand then I never edit it.And right now I am currentlyrecovering from the week of E3.If you're new to my channel, that's probably all thatyou've seen this week,if me talking about videogames, and going to E3.But today, I slept all day.I had a TV installation, and let me tell you what, the TV that I got is by far the mostincredible thing that I have ever seen. There'll be a separate video about that. But today, this is just a vlog. It's just a vlog. And we're celebrating mysweet baby boy's birthday.Hi sweet boy.Do you know that you're two today? You're too years old.(upbeat music)(upbeat music)(upbeat music)Is there a doggy here?Hello birthday boy!Looky, Matty, look!Stuff for you!Is it a lobster? (laughs)Birthday boy!(laughs)Hey birthday boy.Do you, do you hate it?What if it goes like this?Is that better?Yeah that's just notvery flattering. (laughs)Happy birthday Matty! How much do you hate whatyou're wearing right now?Do you hate it?But you look handsome. What's wrong, are you trying to hide it?Are you trying to hide the bone?Hide it!So no one can get it!Where do you think you're going?(Matty whines)Is that a safe spot?(upbeat music)(upbeat music)(upbeat music)(upbeat music)\n"
