How to Grill Cherry Pie _ Recipe

The Art of Making Cherry Pies on the Grill

As a barbecue pit master, I can tell you that making cherry pies on the grill is a real treat for the taste buds. It's a simple yet delicious way to satisfy your sweet tooth while enjoying some quality time outdoors. With just a few ingredients and some basic cooking skills, you can create two mouth-watering pies that will impress anyone who tries them.

The Basics of Cherry Pie Filling

To start making cherry pies on the grill, you'll need four cans of cherry pie filling, approximately 21 ounces each. You can also use fresh or frozen cherries if you prefer, but this method is a lot quicker and easier. Simply open the cans and pour the filling into two pre-made pie crusts. Yes, you read that right - pre-made pie crusts are fine for making cherry pies on the grill!

Adding Chocolate to the Chocolate Cherry Pie

One of the most fun parts about making cherry pies on the grill is adding a twist to the classic recipe. For our chocolate cherry pie, we'll be using two candy bars and breaking them into big chunks. Just lay these chunks on top of the filling in one of the pre-made crusts. This will give our pie that rich, chocolatey flavor we all love.

Making the Double Crust Pie

Now it's time to add some extra flaky crust goodness to our pies. Simply slice up some additional pie dough and layer it on top of the filling in both pies. You can do this in a few different ways - just follow your favorite Martha Stewart technique, or get creative and make your own unique crust design.

Adding Irish Cream Liquor to the Irish Cream Cherry Pie

For our second pie, we'll be adding a grown-up twist with some Irish cream liquor. Just pour about 3-4 ounces of this creamy liquid on top of the filling in one of the pre-made crusts. Don't worry if you don't like liquor - it's completely optional and will just add a little extra flavor to your pie.

Grilling the Pies

Now that our pies are filled with delicious ingredients, it's time to throw them onto the grill. Since we're cooking indirectly, we'll place the pies under the opposite side of the coal from the barbecue. This will allow us to cook the pies slowly and evenly, bringing out all their natural flavors.

Adjusting the Temperature

Once our pies are on the grill, we need to adjust the temperature to prevent them from burning or cooking too quickly. We'll lower the heat by taking off the lid cover and turning the pies around a little bit. This will help us achieve that perfect golden-brown crust we all love.

Finishing Touches

After about 15 minutes of grilling, our pies are ready to be removed from the grill. We'll let them cool for a few more minutes before slicing into them and serving. And what a sight - perfectly cooked cherry pies with a deliciously flaky crust!

Tasting the Pies

Finally, it's time to taste these delicious creations! We'll start with the chocolate cherry pie, taking a big slice and savoring that rich, chocolatey flavor. Next up is the Irish cream cherry pie, and we can't wait to see how the liquor adds to this classic dessert.
