SR20DET RUNS! Then nearly destroys itself...
The Car Sit: A Troubled Road to Recovery
As we sat down to reflect on our recent adventure with the car, it was clear that this wasn't going to be a funny time. We had worked so hard to get the car running, and now it seemed like everything was falling apart. The fuel in the intercooler was still there, the gas pump hadn't been properly utilized, and the entire system was crying out for attention.
Alberto's comment about sticking our finger in things and trying to fill that up had been met with a mix of frustration and amusement. We knew we needed to act fast, but with people going out of town and complications arising left and right, it seemed like every step forward was being met with two steps back. Martin, who had kindly agreed to help us tune the car's stock ECU, was still waiting for the perfect moment to get started.
Despite the chaos surrounding us, our goal remained clear: get the car running and then get it properly tuned. With Martin's confidence in his abilities and our own determination, we decided to take a step back and reassess our approach. Instead of rushing into things, we would try to get the car running on its stock ECU, even if that meant using bigger injectors. This would give us some breathing room and allow us to focus on one aspect at a time.
With the midnight hour looming over us, we made the decision to pull out the harness and stick it back in with the stock ECU. We knew it might not run perfectly, but at least we could try. The car's performance had been erratic at best, and we needed something stable to build on. As we worked through the night, our fingers flew across the wiring and connectors, trying to find a solution to the problem.
The hours ticked by, with Adam up in the air working on the harness while I tinkered below with the downpipe. We were making progress, but it was slow going. The car's issues seemed to multiply by the minute, and we found ourselves questioning our every move. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the sun began to rise, and a new day dawned.
The repairs continued, with me working on the knee hit and connecting the downpipe. Adam, meanwhile, was tasked with taking a closer look at his light bulbs and servicing his lamps. As we worked, our banter and jokes kept things lighthearted, but it was clear that this was no laughing matter.
After what felt like an all-nighter, I finally had the car where I wanted it: up to speed on the dump tube with a little angle cut for scavenge. The win looked nice, too - a testament to my tinkering skills. But despite our best efforts, there were still issues at play. The car just wouldn't turn over, and we realized that the fuel in the system was preventing it from running smoothly.
The final verdict? We would have to wait until tomorrow to try again. Despite Alberto's absence for his Colorado trip, he had done everything he could to help us out, and we were truly grateful. With a bit of time and patience, we were confident that we would get the car up and running - or at least, as much as it was going to be able to run.
As I sat there in the quiet morning light, reflecting on our journey so far, one thing was clear: this had been a wild ride. But with a solid day ahead of us, complete with troubleshooting bits to sort through, we were ready for whatever came next. And if you want to see more of Alberto's skills and talents, be sure to check out his channel - he's got some impressive abilities behind the wheel and in the engine bay.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat a morning the lack of sleep and the lack of coffee is definitely kicking in to kind of get all this stuff done with such a quick turnaround it definitely puts a toll on sleep it also takes a lot of coordination so since we ran into that issue with the injector seats not being the right size I had my friend Matt run over to Palm Bay he's grabbing a set of injector seats from the monster performance guys they're gonna let me a set original plan of bringing the car to get degreed while we had the engine in the car I think would have made things take longer so I wound up taking the truck and bringing the engine to CW pens to have them degree it meanwhile I think Alberto probably just about showed up at my house and I think he's gonna start working on some of the fueling stuff so it's gonna be a busy day but we're gonna get the car running and it's gonna rip they won't rip today it'll rip tomorrow today hopefully it'll just cruise that merica start built Ford Tough check out this sunset right now it's crazy I got the engine hung out while he was degree in the cams and oh my gosh I read online that the 2/6 for Kim's that I have do have issues with them not being grinded properly and need to be degreed which is why I got the adjustable cam gears and you're not gonna believe it but the intake cam was actually 10 degrees so we had to advance it 10 degrees which is a super significant amount Alberta how much power do you think that that would account for just 20 horsepower that's a lot it's a big difference the exhaust side wasn't as bad I think we only had to advance that maybe it was 2 degrees so that was pretty spot-on but I'm really glad I had a degree because I don't make a big difference in school and just the efficiency of the head I probably should have filmed it it would have been cool but basically what they do is find TDC there's like a big wheel that goes on here with a bunch of measurements and then you have a dial indicator so you can see to match basically the lift of the cams with Tec and do a bunch of fancy math and all that stuff so you got the harness ran in here too yeah we'll just get a plugged in for now and get the thing running and I'll worry about cleaning up the harness later I always did a lot of annoying initial stuff so it shouldn't be too difficult I'm taking apart the wastegate right now so I can install the springs they have like a little chart that tells you the different colors and what pressure they'll give you we're gonna be running one bar in this so the car will centrally run about 14 and a half psi of boost without any sort of boost control or anything good safe number won't be able to get up to the 20s pretty easily I just got a package in the mail today from a friend of mine who started work for a company called thermal zero and they make a bunch of awesome heat protection stuff so this would be what I would have used to wrap my manifold no way it's got my name in the actual turbo blanket that's sick all their stuffs made in the USA dang that's pretty this is their lava color Alberto's favorite thing about turbo blankets is that they make your turbo look bigger does it looks really nice I just love it it says my name right there it's like showing what you think you like my blanket oh showmen did you know that turbo blankets aren't actually meant to keep your turbo warm they actually give me a coupon code for you guys as well so 15% off if you want at thermal zero calm if you guys just used LZ drift I'm excited to try this stuff but they gave me some tips for wrapping I don't know if we're gonna get two wraps in the manifold today but I can at least wrap the downpipe but that's dope thank you guys we've shown you guys quite a few times but this is Alberto's a little trick for torquing the flywheel bolts wait how would you do this if you didn't do that what's other technique there's so op piece resourceful you know what's about to happen I gotta keep talking to build up to hype Alberto but Tommy's a little bit off we tried I think honestly the hardest part is just like a virus event again hold on that's me I should cut the turbo fitment down maybe I'll end up like moving it a little bit this way so it's like closer to this under on the pipe underneath over and then enter here ended up doing this cool thing with the road remains I got a lock like a pre-molded hose and it worked perfectly I think really hard to get a good look down there but it goes side over then over this way and then over there and I have a little other piece joining over here the most important part is that it clears the drive shaft just on there look at that the drive shaft clearance for the host there I feel like one commonly overlooked thing that I never really addressed about something I like with the SR is how much easier they are to work on than jay-z's you have so much room in here like you can get to all the radiator hoses like everything's very simple even though it's a very temperamental it's very simple they're easy to access and that's one reason why I like you but I gotta give a huge shout out to leave for monster performance for letting me use some of these injector seats so with the D sharks injectors depending on your setup you can always remove this spacer but we're actually going to be using it all we got to do is lubricate the o-rings real quick and then they just press right in and we'll just have to dial in the height with the fuel rail I'm doing the driveshaft bullets at the moment and Alberto has to be the bearer of bad news show him what you found today was extended all the way out and peace and fell out of the thing and so I could feel the fluid I clean that up and I say all right let me just keep rustling that cars like what is that you got a hole in your cut people thought I was crazy for wanting to spray my underbody so I don't get rust damaged part you just putting new metal paint over it and we should just say screw the engine and do that first I think it's way more important crazy I never notice it because I have the fender there we were making really really good progress and Alberto was welding up the intercooler piping when we ran out of argon so we're kind of at a stalemate we don't really know what we're gonna do but we're just doing everything else that we can but this is weld with just a little bit of argue left I think we're gonna have to like polish this to make it match this right yeah or just get the whole thing like powder coated or something for that but this is that old elbow that was on the other turbo so I never plan it off I clean it up as much as I contaminated their world and I put it on here also had that fitting thing here so I patched that up then I would brine it and erase it and they don't have to probably put it I mean even if I just water wheel that it'll look pretty shiny yeah Suz enough but yeah we're slowly making progress on the car it's about midnight still shooting in the car started tonight so fingers crossed and we're gonna keep working diligently 12:50 p.m. big boost just broke out where's the hot chocolate I just want to show it on camera you know we're working on big booths Brock you know we're working hard when big boost brought out the hot chocolate keep us motivated my hot chocolates coming up next all right this is the list of stuff that we still have to do we got this Alberta I think we can cross one off you know you forgot the most important part on the list oh you got to finish it before we can cross it off no I'm I'm gonna be like this wait like that's how much how can I cross off I'm still trying to work my way through the wave is that what we're gonna do if like the intercooler piping - we'll just like slowly draw the cross through it until it's done started have somebody start drawing the line if they feel the line we're shulman when we need them this could be his full-time job something like there's a v8 or something in the driveway Mustangs in the warehouse Alberto remember that problem where we ran out of gas well guess what Taylor to the rescue dude I'm so glad you're still awake thank you so much you are the savior of this project there's no like social obligation of the year yes we need we need a fuel pressure gauge - I haven't that's okay we're good Thank You Nicole I think since the car is going to e85 you've been replacing all the rubber lines with vibrant nylon e85 safe braided line stuff three nice we're gonna be running pretty much all vibrant stuff on the s15 so far the only few lines I've gotten done are the two lines that have gotten done from the hard lines back to the gas tank eventually we might run all new lines instead of hard lines but for the power level that I'm at right now the hard lines are big enough to support like mid 400 horsepower so until I get a big boy turbo I think we're good pulled out the speed sensor from my old SR since the goals didn't have one yeah that metal might have been my problem all right it's currently 6:00 a.m. some of the stuff we got done there's still a few things left on the list we're tired Alberto has to do pack for his trip tomorrow so we actually decided that we aren't gonna go to the dyno tomorrow rather than bringing Martin a half ton car I think it's better to just dial in the car tomorrow get some rest and then go get it tuned on Wednesday I'm just gonna resume this video with the next day and hopefully we will start the car get a beauty shot of Alberto's dimes no setup looks really good woke up around 3:00 p.m. today but it's okay because we're gonna get the engine running and it's gonna be sick but there's one thing that I'm more excited about today than actually getting the SR running and that is giving Alberto his Christmas gift a day before he leaves on his trip I'm so happy it came in time it's obviously a little bit late but that's just kind of the nature of the beast when it comes to car parts do you know what this is over doc this is your this is your Christmas present right here I didn't have time to wrap it it literally just came this morning Merry Christmas I hope I hope this cheers you up no no but you were against me getting younger there's no way I was just literally I was gonna buy this back from vacation Alberto has literally been non-stop talking about how badly he wanted an Anglicare for his car they're running nine and a half inch wheel with zero offset and I still have about this much wheel capsizing with a SLR I'm looking only will allow me to drift better and correct the Acura man in my car but it will also fix the looks of it I'm trying to like be excited let's open it up with a coffee caffeine tell her your boost analogy with the soda alright so here's what I analyzed about my anxiety issue right now so if I drink too much caffeine and so I do you mean energy making right headache so I made sure I'd be measuring as I got those she poured almost every day if I have a cup of soda off like mr. paper whatever it is it will give me energy right if I drink a refill of it it'll just go I don't I'll blow a coupler and then feel like light-handed and stuff so I gotta see how much so I can I drink without going over boost I'm not kidding if I drink too much now oh my god was going I feel all like hey I got like really about I bikes and stuff I get all stressed out so I might just trying to do this is literally breakfast I woke up I quit Adam comment three something in doubt for ya in the afternoon don't stay in the morning that's not so bad hope I got you the right kit you have it 46 right eye open wait wait what is started you got it there no foundation do you like it I got your kids gonna be like cool being zero I didn't know if you'd want gray or purple but I thought purple would look cool with the blue awesome purple is sick so I got the same angle to identify uses on his car so now I can like run better Sean yeah Sean and so are Paul Oh Paul is a dinosaur guy that's been on some of my FD videos like doing the right thing the cool thing is SLR is actually pretty local so they just ship this out I think yesterday and I came in time yes I hope you enjoy that kid yes I am definitely gonna enjoy this no I won't be able to install when I get back from vacation I wish they made us 13 stuff haven't really been filming anything we've been doing in the car cuz it's just a bunch of tedious stuff as you can see on the list pretty much everything except for the boost controller is done the charge pipes done because good cross and all this stuff off got pretty much all the wires and the harness hooked up took a little bit of troubleshooting a little bit of calling my friend Jimmy Oakes for some advice on where some plugs go radiators full of water 10 water wetter motors full of oil belts are tight Alberto's doing the vacuum lines right now he did a really really nice job on this fuel setup I cover the stuff in the rear but I think I told you guys that yesterday um what else did we do you don't have a map sensor anymore so for speed a city map sensor I knew how air intake temperature sensor and I've stern on map sensor over here are we you're gonna run up in turbo if you want if you guys are familiar with the Z 32 maps that can cause a lot of issues it's what everyone pretty much switches to and they go bigger turbo or whatever but they can be quite a headache I wasn't able to do the is our power steering setup at the moment we need to get a couple different fittings so I just kind of fitted this here temporarily I know it's not the cleanest we're also have a temporary system running just venting to atmosphere I have a cool catch can that I ordered coming but it hasn't come yet same thing with the oil cooling setup so the motors like kind of in its rough state right now needs a few little tweaks but other than the downpipe not being connected to the exhaust because it needs to be modified slightly I think we're ready to start so finish that then with our program latency and convert this scale up the mapping on the computer for 12 emergency injectors and twice if it starts right here you have the lines that start our lines down there how to filter over here I didn't want to run like everything super short another thing that came to my mind is that when you have big injectors on a big fuel you have a lot of you will have a lot of injection poles so you hear that feels like the top of that everything so that feels like spiking back and four or even make your pressure gauge like spike that you just vibrate so you do with that either you can put our fuel damper on the fuel which protocol right here and it's fitting or you can also get away with it by putting on along a return post between the fuel rail and the field regulator that way is able to absorb the dampening of the field rail between the regulator I forgot to order a fuel pressure gauge so this is a temporary one that Taylor loaned me that we're just gonna be using for tuning we also need to order a bracket for the DX fuel filter right now is just kind of zip tied there it's surprisingly sturdy but obviously not something we want to keep like that but um all the wiring still I think use a little bit of cleaning up now that I see where everything falls in the Bay there's connections that I can delete there's wires that I can clean up a little bit more but it was hard doing it out of the car for now is just kind of getting everything dialed in and reliable enough to throw it on the dyno get it tuned and then go from there not too many people are that familiar with it but up XE actually release software so you can tune their power ups to use on a computer now but since I don't have that software yet we're using the old-school handheld controller if you have 15 cars in Japan a lot of them like to kind of zip tie this to their - super JDM points right Berto Martin from Aris enthalpy told us to start the injectors at about 35% started on that and if we need to crank it up to prevent it from stalling we can so when you're starting an engine for the first time it's a good idea to prime it and kind of get oil in the system before you start it now actually when we were doing the cam timing they hooked up like a little oil pump to it so the motor already has had oil pump through it so I come out the squirter has got a lot of the air out so that's very good we're still going to unplug the distributor and turn the car over just to get some more oil circulated before we try to turn it over I think so you're eating about 40 psi you had one issue where it wasn't turning over again Jimmy came to the rescue apparently these two just need to be connected because this is like a something for the automatic transmission since my car's automatic what park neutral switch so it won't let you start unless you're in park which makes sense because we're using Nicole's harness which probably was for a manual car because I think her car was originally manual and that's why I never understood on wiring specialties why you need to select whether your cars automatic are manual because my harness probably has a jump for that mm-hmm easy enough so we're just gonna cut it and splice it into itself and real good moment of truth Alberto's turning it over I just didn't film it let's see what she does Alberto is like kind of doing a diagnosis on the EPOXI and we actually figured out that I had to the plug swapped we have life the oppressors out like 30 part of the braking procedure involves letting an idle for a little while about 15 to 20 minutes and then immediately changing the oil of course the bad stuff happens when I'm not filming literally the same exact thing that happened to Nicole's car with engine got hydro lock just happened talk to Martin about it and maybe it's the ECU and maybe that's why not Cole's car blew up and maybe we just lucked out by it doing it now instead of later down the road and causing a failure of my beloved SR so I don't know what's going on right now we're gonna check to see if the intake manifold does fuel because all four cylinders had fuel and just pretty nice ours like I don't know what I'm gonna do if I'm gonna maybe try to throw everything together with a stock you see you maybe just scrub the tuning and just let the car sit for a month and cry just maybe do another stand alone and another harness I don't know Alberta this is not a funny time I'm sad we worked so hard yeah that's fuel in there come on dude Lisa didn't fill up the intercooler this time we weren't pumping the gas out and then Alberto butt was really funny then you're gonna have to stick your finger and try to fill that up I get that in things and I have to come off anyways come on Adam it is currently midnight and there's a lot of complication factors and stuff with people going out of town and stuff we kind of want to just try to get the car running and go and get it tuned on a stock ECU Martin's really great at it Martin's really great was working with a stock ECU and I'm confident in his tune I probably would switch to standalone down the road but for the sake of time and being will drive a couple events and get a proper harness made and not having to rush everything I kind of want to try to get the car running on the stock you see you so even though it's midnight I'm going to pull the harness out just as a precaution put my harness back in with a stock you see you put the math back in just stuff that I know that works it might not run with the bigger injectors but at least said I'm confident and everything and then I can maybe pull an all-nighter and go and get it tuned definitely spend a few hours on this harness and now it is trash I don't trust that thing I'm not gonna let it blow up my car - so I'm moving back to the crusty harness yes I might end up cleaning this up probably will definitely clean it up I mean only took me about 15 minutes to fault the other harness and to splice in the new connectors for the injectors since it's a lot easier out of the car but yeah I'm gonna toss this bad boy and we're gonna eat our crimped up we're gonna rip a little update over here I managed to cut the downpipe up and use the same tubing in a different way to make it work without having to get additional tubing the meantime we have Adam over here doing his thing with the harness and then I'm gonna race a car up with him on top of the car so I can work on the knee hit and connect the down pipe it's not your first rodeo watch what you're about to go really really fast Adam how are you doing all the way up there you should probably take a look at your light bulbs while you're at it you can service your lamps I'm gonna go underneath so now I have the down pot where I need it just have to made it up over here like this and put the gasket on with the bolts and we're good I also check out the dump tube that I made for the wastegate just come straight down and then I did this little angle cut so it looks really cool also that it's scavenge all that sauce with the win so I take really nice probably the first time I can never remember draining oil from this car and it actually coming out transparent yellow so he's a good idea after a fresh rebuild to change the oil after the car just idle a little bit just in case there is any debris in the engine I mean so far it's looking pretty pretty nice though it's about 3:00 a.m. we tried our best we did everything we can almost got it to run but there's still so much fuel in the system from when I got hydro locked that uh it doesn't really want to turn over but I really really really wanted to oh I guess we didn't have the car running in this video so I held up to my word that this video had the car running kinda unfortunately I'm not gonna be able to go and get it tuned tomorrow so unfortunately I'm not gonna be able to go and get it tuned tomorrow since the car's gone all over the place but I'm hoping that with a solid day everything mounted up just a few little troubleshooting bits to do to try to get it to run again we should be good it's gonna be kind of weird because I'm running my last ECU with injector so maybe I'll be able to adjust it with fuel pressure to get a drivable definitely super appreciative of Alberto he's going away to his colorado trip and he did as much as he possibly can everything that he could have helped me with he has and it's very very appreciated and if you guys want to see more of his talent and skills and stuff that he can do both behind the wheel and in the engine bay make sure you go check out his channel but until then I will see you guys tomorrow hopefully with a running car and some turbo noises bye that mewhat a morning the lack of sleep and the lack of coffee is definitely kicking in to kind of get all this stuff done with such a quick turnaround it definitely puts a toll on sleep it also takes a lot of coordination so since we ran into that issue with the injector seats not being the right size I had my friend all new lines instead of hard lines but for the power level that I'm at right now the hard lines are big enough to support like mid 400 horsepower so until I get a big boy turbo I think we're good pulled out the speed sensor from my old SR since the goals didn't have one yeah that metal might have been my problem all right it's currently 6:00 a.m. some of the stuff we got done there's still a few things left on the list we're tired Alberto has to do pack for his trip tomorrow so we actually decided that we aren't gonna go to the dyno tomorrow rather than bringing Martin a half ton car I think it's better to just dial in the car tomorrow get some rest and then go get it tuned on Wednesday I'm just gonna resume this video with the next day and hopefully we will start the car get a beauty shot of Alberto's dimes no setup looks really good woke up around 3:00 p.m. today but it's okay because we're gonna get the engine running and it's gonna be sick but there's one thing that I'm more excited about today than actually getting the SR running and that is giving Alberto his Christmas gift a day before he leaves on his trip I'm so happy it came in time it's obviously a little bit late but that's just kind of the nature of the beast when it comes to car parts do you know what this is over doc this is your this is your Christmas present right here I didn't have time to wrap it it literally just came this morning Merry Christmas I hope I hope this cheers you up no no but you were against me getting younger there's no way I was just literally I was gonna buy this back from vacation Alberto has literally been non-stop talking about how badly he wanted an Anglicare for his car they're running nine and a half inch wheel with zero offset and I still have about this much wheel capsizing with a SLR I'm looking only will allow me to drift better and correct the Acura man in my car but it will also fix the looks of it I'm trying to like be excited let's open it up with a coffee caffeine tell her your boost analogy with the soda alright so here's what I analyzed about my anxiety issue right now so if I drink too much caffeine and so I do you mean energy making right headache so I made sure I'd be measuring as I got those she poured almost every day if I have a cup of soda off like mr. paper whatever it is it will give me energy right if I drink a refill of it it'll just go I don't I'll blow a coupler and then feel like light-handed and stuff so I gotta see how much so I can I drink without going over boost I'm not kidding if I drink too much now oh my god was going I feel all like hey I got like really about I bikes and stuff I get all stressed out so I might just trying to do this is literally breakfast I woke up I quit Adam comment three something in doubt for ya in the afternoon don't stay in the morning that's not so bad hope I got you the right kit you have it 46 right eye open wait wait what is started you got it there no foundation do you like it I got your kids gonna be like cool being zero I didn't know if you'd want gray or purple but I thought purple would look cool with the blue awesome purple is sick so I got the same angle to identify uses on his car so now I can like run better Sean yeah Sean and so are Paul Oh Paul is a dinosaur guy that's been on some of my FD videos like doing the right thing the cool thing is SLR is actually pretty local so they just ship this out I think yesterday and I came in time yes I hope you enjoy that kid yes I am definitely gonna enjoy this no I won't be able to install when I get back from vacation I wish they made us 13 stuff haven't really been filming anything we've been doing in the car cuz it's just a bunch of tedious stuff as you can see on the list pretty much everything except for the boost controller is done the charge pipes done because good cross and all this stuff off got pretty much all the wires and the harness hooked up took a little bit of troubleshooting a little bit of calling my friend Jimmy Oakes for some advice on where some plugs go radiators full of water 10 water wetter motors full of oil belts are tight Alberto's doing the vacuum lines right now he did a really really nice job on this fuel setup I cover the stuff in the rear but I think I told you guys that yesterday um what else did we do you don't have a map sensor anymore so for speed a city map sensor I knew how air intake temperature sensor and I've stern on map sensor over here are we you're gonna run up in turbo if you want if you guys are familiar with the Z 32 maps that can cause a lot of issues it's what everyone pretty much switches to and they go bigger turbo or whatever but they can be quite a headache I wasn't able to do the is our power steering setup at the moment we need to get a couple different fittings so I just kind of fitted this here temporarily I know it's not the cleanest we're also have a temporary system running just venting to atmosphere I have a cool catch can that I ordered coming but it hasn't come yet same thing with the oil cooling setup so the motors like kind of in its rough state right now needs a few little tweaks but other than the downpipe not being connected to the exhaust because it needs to be modified slightly I think we're ready to start so finish that then with our program latency and convert this scale up the mapping on the computer for 12 emergency injectors and twice if it starts right here you have the lines that start our lines down there how to filter over here I didn't want to run like everything super short another thing that came to my mind is that when you have big injectors on a big fuel you have a lot of you will have a lot of injection poles so you hear that feels like the top of that everything so that feels like spiking back and four or even make your pressure gauge like spike that you just vibrate so you do with that either you can put our fuel damper on the fuel which protocol right here and it's fitting or you can also get away with it by putting on along a return post between the fuel rail and the field regulator that way is able to absorb the dampening of the field rail between the regulator I forgot to order a fuel pressure gauge so this is a temporary one that Taylor loaned me that we're just gonna be using for tuning we also need to order a bracket for the DX fuel filter right now is just kind of zip tied there it's surprisingly sturdy but obviously not something we want to keep like that but um all the wiring still I think use a little bit of cleaning up now that I see where everything falls in the Bay there's connections that I can delete there's wires that I can clean up a little bit more but it was hard doing it out of the car for now is just kind of getting everything dialed in and reliable enough to throw it on the dyno get it tuned and then go from there not too many people are that familiar with it but up XE actually release software so you can tune their power ups to use on a computer now but since I don't have that software yet we're using the old-school handheld controller if you have 15 cars in Japan a lot of them like to kind of zip tie this to their - super JDM points right Berto Martin from Aris enthalpy told us to start the injectors at about 35% started on that and if we need to crank it up to prevent it from stalling we can so when you're starting an engine for the first time it's a good idea to prime it and kind of get oil in the system before you start it now actually when we were doing the cam timing they hooked up like a little oil pump to it so the motor already has had oil pump through it so I come out the squirter has got a lot of the air out so that's very good we're still going to unplug the distributor and turn the car over just to get some more oil circulated before we try to turn it over I think so you're eating about 40 psi you had one issue where it wasn't turning over again Jimmy came to the rescue apparently these two just need to be connected because this is like a something for the automatic transmission since my car's automatic what park neutral switch so it won't let you start unless you're in park which makes sense because we're using Nicole's harness which probably was for a manual car because I think her car was originally manual and that's why I never understood on wiring specialties why you need to select whether your cars automatic are manual because my harness probably has a jump for that mm-hmm easy enough so we're just gonna cut it and splice it into itself and real good moment of truth Alberto's turning it over I just didn't film it let's see what she does Alberto is like kind of doing a diagnosis on the EPOXI and we actually figured out that I had to the plug swapped we have life the oppressors out like 30 part of the braking procedure involves letting an idle for a little while about 15 to 20 minutes and then immediately changing the oil of course the bad stuff happens when I'm not filming literally the same exact thing that happened to Nicole's car with engine got hydro lock just happened talk to Martin about it and maybe it's the ECU and maybe that's why not Cole's car blew up and maybe we just lucked out by it doing it now instead of later down the road and causing a failure of my beloved SR so I don't know what's going on right now we're gonna check to see if the intake manifold does fuel because all four cylinders had fuel and just pretty nice ours like I don't know what I'm gonna do if I'm gonna maybe try to throw everything together with a stock you see you maybe just scrub the tuning and just let the car sit for a month and cry just maybe do another stand alone and another harness I don't know Alberta this is not a funny time I'm sad we worked so hard yeah that's fuel in there come on dude Lisa didn't fill up the intercooler this time we weren't pumping the gas out and then Alberto butt was really funny then you're gonna have to stick your finger and try to fill that up I get that in things and I have to come off anyways come on Adam it is currently midnight and there's a lot of complication factors and stuff with people going out of town and stuff we kind of want to just try to get the car running and go and get it tuned on a stock ECU Martin's really great at it Martin's really great was working with a stock ECU and I'm confident in his tune I probably would switch to standalone down the road but for the sake of time and being will drive a couple events and get a proper harness made and not having to rush everything I kind of want to try to get the car running on the stock you see you so even though it's midnight I'm going to pull the harness out just as a precaution put my harness back in with a stock you see you put the math back in just stuff that I know that works it might not run with the bigger injectors but at least said I'm confident and everything and then I can maybe pull an all-nighter and go and get it tuned definitely spend a few hours on this harness and now it is trash I don't trust that thing I'm not gonna let it blow up my car - so I'm moving back to the crusty harness yes I might end up cleaning this up probably will definitely clean it up I mean only took me about 15 minutes to fault the other harness and to splice in the new connectors for the injectors since it's a lot easier out of the car but yeah I'm gonna toss this bad boy and we're gonna eat our crimped up we're gonna rip a little update over here I managed to cut the downpipe up and use the same tubing in a different way to make it work without having to get additional tubing the meantime we have Adam over here doing his thing with the harness and then I'm gonna race a car up with him on top of the car so I can work on the knee hit and connect the down pipe it's not your first rodeo watch what you're about to go really really fast Adam how are you doing all the way up there you should probably take a look at your light bulbs while you're at it you can service your lamps I'm gonna go underneath so now I have the down pot where I need it just have to made it up over here like this and put the gasket on with the bolts and we're good I also check out the dump tube that I made for the wastegate just come straight down and then I did this little angle cut so it looks really cool also that it's scavenge all that sauce with the win so I take really nice probably the first time I can never remember draining oil from this car and it actually coming out transparent yellow so he's a good idea after a fresh rebuild to change the oil after the car just idle a little bit just in case there is any debris in the engine I mean so far it's looking pretty pretty nice though it's about 3:00 a.m. we tried our best we did everything we can almost got it to run but there's still so much fuel in the system from when I got hydro locked that uh it doesn't really want to turn over but I really really really wanted to oh I guess we didn't have the car running in this video so I held up to my word that this video had the car running kinda unfortunately I'm not gonna be able to go and get it tuned tomorrow so unfortunately I'm not gonna be able to go and get it tuned tomorrow since the car's gone all over the place but I'm hoping that with a solid day everything mounted up just a few little troubleshooting bits to do to try to get it to run again we should be good it's gonna be kind of weird because I'm running my last ECU with injector so maybe I'll be able to adjust it with fuel pressure to get a drivable definitely super appreciative of Alberto he's going away to his colorado trip and he did as much as he possibly can everything that he could have helped me with he has and it's very very appreciated and if you guys want to see more of his talent and skills and stuff that he can do both behind the wheel and in the engine bay make sure you go check out his channel but until then I will see you guys tomorrow hopefully with a running car and some turbo noises bye that me\n"
