Apple Watch Series 4 Complete Walkthrough - The Apple Watch Design Has Matured

**Apple Watch Settings Guide**

The Apple Watch has a wide range of settings that can be adjusted to suit your preferences and needs. One of the most useful features is the ability to set the watch time ahead, which is perfect for those who are always running late. This feature will not affect alarms, but it does change the time on the watch face.

Another important setting is Airplane Mode, which turns off all transmission features like Bluetooth, LTE, and Wi-Fi. This mode is similar to any airplane mode, turning off your connection to networks and devices. The "Wi-Fi" option allows you to turn Wi-Fi on and off as well as connect to a network if desired. Similarly, the "Bluetooth" setting lets you turn Bluetooth on and off, as well as pair with new devices or pair with health-specific devices.

The "Cellular" setting is only available on LTE models and allows you to view your cellular plan usage. There's also a "Do Not Disturb" feature that enables or disables notifications, stopping you from being notified by any new messages. The watch has a "Belt" that provides information about the watch itself, including its status, firmware, storage, and orientation options.

Orientation allows you to switch which arm you want to wear it on as well as choose which side of the crown is on your wrist. Wake Screen lets you select if you want to turn the screen on when it recognizes your arm being raised or when an audio app is enabled. You can also choose how long ago you were using a specific app to automatically show it, with options ranging from 15 to 70 seconds.

Additionally, there's a "Screen and Stay Awake" feature that dims the display and shows the time constantly when the watch is charging. Night Mode will gradually brighten up as you get closer to an alarm time. Location Services allows you to choose if you want the watch to give your location to apps and/or friends that you've shared it with.

**Accessibility Features**

The Apple Watch also has several accessibility features, including the ability to read aloud what's on the screen for those who are hard of hearing or seeing. There's also a "Zoom" option to help users zoom in on content. Siri is available as well, allowing you to control whether you want it to respond to "Hey Siri," listen through headphones only, or use voice commands.

You can also set your watch to auto-pause when you stop and pick up again while running, reminding you to start or end a workout. The watch can also detect gym equipment that's compatible with the Apple Watch.

**Power Saver Mode**

There's a "Power Saver" mode that turns off cellular and heart rate monitoring during a workout for less accuracy but more battery life. This feature is useful for those who want to conserve battery life while still getting accurate fitness tracking data.

**Regulatory Information**

The Apple Watch has regulatory information that explains the rules and guidelines for its use. While this section may not be of interest to everyone, it's essential for those who need to comply with specific regulations or guidelines.

**Reset and Settings Options**

The watch also allows you to reset and erase the watch in case you want to start over or pair it with a different device. This feature is useful for users who need to troubleshoot issues or restore their watch to its factory settings.

Additionally, there are settings options such as Brightness and Text Size, which allow you to adjust the brightness of the screen and choose between six different text sizes. You can also set bold text, affecting all the text throughout the OS. The "Sounds" setting lets you choose the alert volume, decide if you want haptic (vibration) alerts for notifications, and select between the default version or a more prominent version.

Finally, there's a "Passcode" feature that allows you to turn on and off the passcode, change it, let your iPhone unlock it when near, and enable risk detection, which requires a passcode whenever the watch is removed from your wrist. This setting is highly recommended to ensure the security of your Apple Watch.

**Additional Features and Future Updates**

The article concludes with a mention of an upcoming feature called "Walkie Talkie," which will allow users to communicate with friends in real-time using their Apple Watches. The author plans to create a separate video on this feature, exploring its capabilities and benefits. Additionally, the watch's iOS version is expected to receive updates, including new features and improvements, which will be announced by Apple in the future.

**Conclusion**

The Apple Watch has a wide range of settings that can be adjusted to suit individual preferences and needs. By understanding these settings, users can optimize their experience, improve performance, and enhance security. Whether you're looking for ways to customize your watch or need assistance with troubleshooting issues, this guide provides a comprehensive overview of the Apple Watch's features and options.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enalongside the new iPhones Apple released a new watch the Apple watch series for and it's turning out to be one of the biggest design changes at least in the lineup now there's small changes but there's changes i'ma just get my hands on one and so I figured as a viewer on the channel I tried to a complete walkthrough for you guys and if you're not familiar to plea walked where my channel is where I try to go through every feature I possibly can I test as many things as I can so that you guys are better prepared should you be in the market to go buy one now they said there is a ton to go through so let's get started with that new styling firstly the Apple watch series 4 comes in gold silver and Space Gray in the aluminum material and gold silver and space black for the stainless steel material in addition to the stronger steel those versions have and the more glossy look they also have stronger glass using a sapphire glass in the watch face versus the ion X class that the aluminum versions have looks wise you won't be able to tell the difference but the Sapphire will definitely be a bit more resistant to scratches than the ion X the cases themselves are larger than last year's coming with a 40 millimeter and a 44 millimeter case option versus the 38 millimeter and 42 millimeter of last year the thing is though that even though the case is larger the bezels are smaller and more rounded than last year so you have the better screen to case ratio which helps to the look in the larger sizes for sure and we have a one point five seven inch l pto amo LED screen for the 40 millimeter with a 394 like 324 resolution this series 3 38 millimeter at a 1.5 inch with a 340 by 272 by the way and we have a one point seven eight inch l pto LED for the 44 millimeter with a resolution of 448 v 368 the series 3 42 millimeter at a 1.6 5 inch with a 390 by 312 resolution by the way so larger screens smaller bezels and a higher pixel density moving around the case we have a much larger speaker that now takes up the entire side of the device which is supposedly 50% louder so I decided to test it here is the old watch the series 3 what the weather here's the weather today and here is the new series for what the weather here's the forecast for today and that means that the microphone has now been moved to the other side apple also says that this helps with the echo during calls etc on the side with the microphone we have our new power button that can also be used not only to turn off the watch but also summon emergency services when held down if you tap it instead it'll bring up your recently used apps that you can switch between or your favorite apps if you want to set it to that also it seems that this button is more flush with the side of the watch compared to last year's that stuck out just slightly next to that is the new digital crown which is slightly thinner than the series 3-1 but also now has a haptic vibration engine in it that gives a slight vibration when you use it to more mimic a crown on a traditional mechanical watch also in the new crown is a sensor that can be used in conjunction with the heart rate sensor on the bottom of the watch to generate a certified ECG also known as an EKG by the way they're the same this is the jumpring line that we're used to seeing at hospitals or in movies of hospitals if you're fortunate enough to never have seen one in real life yourself it can be used to monitor heart rate which the heart rate sensor could have done already and rhythm a bit more accurately though you can then send this data using apple services to a doctor should you need to unfortunately this feature isn't available at launch it's coming in an update apparently or I would have tested it for you guys speaking of the heart rate monitor on the underside of the launch we now have a ceramic bottom instead which means better signal for Bluetooth and for LTE users for LTE since the signal can now pass through the top and bottom of the watch speaking of bluetooth we now Bluetooth 5.0 which is faster more stable than the 4.2 which we had on the old watch powering the device we now have a new s4 chipset compared to the s3 which is supposedly faster than the old one and more power efficient here is me testing that so you can see them side-by-side we have 16 gigs of internal storage that you can use to put your own music on using Apple music now it'll automatically add songs to the watch whenever you get new songs in Apple music and the watch and iPhone are sitting near each other now as far as software is concerned we have watch OS 5 which is going to be the same as it is on any Apple watch for the most part so I won't go too in depth into that but let's just go over the basics in case anybody is new to Apple watch's watch OS begins with your watch face this is what you see whenever you raise your wrist and is the starting point for the OS swiping from the left or right we'll quickly switch between your installed watch faces you can tap and hold on any of them to then swipe away the ones that you don't want scroll to the far right to add new ones or tap customize on any of them to then be able to adjust that specific face you'll get indicators at the top to show you how many things you can customize you can swipe left and right to move between these things and use the crown to scroll within the options for each of these things you can also customize complications as Apple calls them they're basically widgets by tapping on the different highlighted sections of the face then using the crown again to cycle through the different options once you're satisfied you can click the crowning to save it when looking at the watch face you'll see a red dot to let you know if you have any notifications and then if you do you can swipe down from the top of the watch and you'll see all of them you can swipe these away to not only dismiss them on the watch but they'll also be dismissed on the iPhone as well you can also tap them to interact with them like reply to an email text archive a message etc slamming up to the bottom gets you to the control center which like on your iPhone lets you turn on and off various settings like Wi-Fi airplane mode check the battery ping your phone in case your can't find it or play a sound on the corner turn on a flashlight which gives you a white flashing white or red screen to use as a flashlight turn on Do Not Disturb turn sound on and off turn on theater mode which actually turns off the screen until you push the crown and it won't let it light up when your arm moves unlike Do Not Disturb so this is good for of course theaters there's an eject water option which lets you spin the crown to eject water after a swim and airplay for displaying your watch on an airplane able device and controlling airplay devices etc you can also move these options around by being added at the bottom rotating the crown is for navigating the UI if needed as we've already seen and tapping it once brings you back to the watch face if you aren't on if you are on it tapping it will open the apps installed in the watch instead you can tap whichever you want to open and you can even turn the digital crown to zoom out to see more apps on the screen at once or the other way to actually open the app in the center of the screen if you double tap the crown you'll open the most recent app and if you tap and hold on the crown you'll get Siri again pushing the power button gets you to your recent apps or favorite apps which you can choose which you want in the Apple watch app on your iPhone double tapping it will open Apple pay which lets you use the NFC in the wash to then tap it against any Apple pay enabled terminal to pay for things if you tap and hold the power button you can swipe it to turn off the watch or swipe to contact emergency services speaking of emergency services you can enable a feature that will detect if you fall while wearing the watch and don't move for a few minutes and it'll actually contact emergency services automatically Apple does warn you though that if you are quote-unquote active that your workouts might accidentally trigger this so it might be best to leave it off and it is off by default now really quickly let's go through the settings time you can actually set that watch time ahead in case you're the type of person who is always late this will not affect alarms it just changes the time on the watch face airplane modes the same as any airplane mode it turns off all of the transmission features like Bluetooth LTE Wi-Fi etc Wi-Fi which says your turn Wi-Fi on and off obviously as well as connect to a network if you want bluetooth will let you turn bluetooth on and off as well as pair with new devices or pair with health specific devices cellular which is only available on the LTE models but this lets you view your cellular plan usage etc do not disturb which enables disables do not disturb which in turn stops you from being notified by any new notifications no inner general we have a belt which gives you info on the watch a status firmware storage etc orientation would let you switch which arm you want to wear it on as well as which side you want the crown to be on wake screen which you can select if you want to turn the screen on when it recognizes your arm is being raised if you spin the crown up or if an audio app is enabled you can also choose if you want to automatically show the last app you were using based on various time options of how long ago you were using it and select between 15 and 70 seconds for the screen and stay awake if you tap it with finger night mode will dim the display and show the time constantly when the watch is charging and it will also slowly brighten up as you get closer to a time that you have set an alarm for location services lets you choose if you want the watch to give your location to apps and/or friends that you've shared it with accessibility which gives you options for those that are hard of hearing or seeing to help them use the watch like reading aloud what's on the screen or zooming in Siri which lets you control whether you want Siri on the watch to respond to hey Siri if you want Syria to listen to you when you just raise the watch to your mouth whether you want Syria to respond back with audio or not or just through headphones only and her volume work out you can have an auto pause running whenever you stop and pick up again once you start back up have it remind you to start or end a workout have it auto detect gym equipment that is compatible when you tap the watch to the equipment and power saver mode which turns off cellular and heart rate monitoring during a workout for less accuracy but more battery life and regulatory we just have legal info basically which you'll never need look at reset which allows you to reset and erase the watch in case you want to start over or pair with a different device brightness and text size which lets you adjust the brightness obviously and choose between six different text sizes for the display as well as bold text if you want and this affects all the text throughout the OS sounds and haptics you can choose the alert volume decide if you want to haptic aka vibrations for alerts as well as choose between the default version of haptics or a more prominent version turn on and off the haptics for the crown and choose whether tapping mini or Mickey Mouse on their watch faces will read the time aloud and finally you have passcode which allows you to turn on and off the passcode change it let the iPhone unlock it if it's near and risk detection which makes the watch require a passcode whenever it is removed from your wrist which I highly recommend you leave on and that's it a complete rundown of all the features I possibly could and some tests on the watch itself let me know if you guys think of that in the comments below we'd love to hear from you about the watch about these types of videos should my walkthroughs be this thorough should they be more thorough whatever let me know would love to hear from you guys I'm also there is a walkie talkie feature that I'm a big fan of I'm gonna do a separate video on that on how to use that walkie talkie feature kind of go through the rundown of that because I think want to deserve its own video and - it's a wash OS feature so it's not specific to this watch it's gonna come eventually to all of the watches that support none that I'm gonna be doing a bunch of other videos if you haven't already seen the iPhone 10s and 10's max please go check those out I'll leave links below and if you want to be notified when I do new videos why don't you check out the channel if you like to see their subscribe and check the Bell mixed or subscribe so that you actually get notifications whenever I do new
