JUNE READING WRAP UP!

**June's Reads: A Month of Discovery**

I'm excited to share with you my reading highlights from June, which turned out to be one of the most accomplished months I've had in a while. This month, I read ten books that left me feeling satisfied and eager for more. In this article, I'll dive into each book, sharing my thoughts, opinions, and why I loved them.

**First Stop: The Syrup by Sir Bernard**

My first stop is the Syrup by Sir Bernard. I was drawn to this book's unique blend of heavy subjects and lighter tones. The author's writing style resonated with me, and I appreciated how they tackled a complex topic in a way that felt both authentic and accessible. As someone who enjoys reading about heavy books, I was impressed by the Syrup's ability to balance its themes without feeling overwhelming. With a rating of 4 out of 5, I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a thought-provoking read.

**A Delightful Return to Sarah Dessen**

My next stop is The Rest of the Story by Sarah Dessen. As a long-time fan of Sarah Dessen's books, I was both excited and apprehensive about reading this one. After finishing it, I can confidently say that it was a welcome return to her earlier style, which I adore. The story follows Emma as she spends the summer with her maternal grandmother, learning more about her family's past and the secrets they've kept hidden. With its themes of family, identity, and self-discovery, this book felt like a love letter from Sarah Dessen herself. While it didn't quite reach a 5-star rating due to some minor plot holes, I still highly recommend The Rest of the Story.

**A Magical Tale: Somersault by Katrina Leno**

Last but certainly not least, we have Somersault by Katrina Leno. This enchanting book is set on an island where magic and mystery reign supreme. The story follows twin sisters Karen and Georgina as they navigate their 18th birthdays, their powers, and the impending departure from their home. I fell deeply in love with this book's atmosphere, characters, and writing style. Leno's use of language was like a warm hug on a cold day – it felt cozy, comforting, and utterly captivating. With its themes of family, identity, and belonging, Somersault is a must-read for anyone looking for a magical and emotional journey.

**A BookTube Recommendation**

Throughout my reading journey in June, I also discovered the works of Sir Bernard, whose book The Syrup was a highlight of my month. As someone who doesn't usually get mentioned on BookTube, Sir Bernard's writing style and unique approach to storytelling had me hooked from start to finish. If you're looking for a new author to add to your reading list, I highly recommend checking out their work.

**Yearbook Read: Somersault by Katrina Leno**

As a bonus section, I want to highlight my favorite book of the month, which is also a yearbook read – Somersault by Katrina Leno. This beautifully written novel follows twin sisters Karen and Georgina as they navigate their 18th birthdays, their powers, and the impending departure from their home on an island. With its themes of family, identity, and self-discovery, this book felt like a perfect fit for my reading tastes. I'm so glad I finally got to read it, and I highly recommend Somersault to anyone looking for a magical and emotional journey.

**Conclusion**

Overall, June was a remarkable month for readers, filled with books that left me feeling satisfied, inspired, and eager for more. From the heavy yet lighter tone of The Syrup to the magical world-building of Somersault, each book offered something unique and special. As I look back on my reading journey, I'm grateful for the opportunities to discover new authors, revisit old favorites, and explore different genres and themes. If you're looking for a reading buddy or just want to chat about books, I'm always here to discuss your favorite reads.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello everyone today I am here to share with you all the books I read in June so I actually had a pretty good reading month in June I read 10 books I want to say which is really good um I had I did participate in one really thought the summer I thought where I was actually co-host of my vlog will be coming next week for that so stay tuned for that but I read a good majority for summer asan and overall it was a pretty good reading last I still feel like I'm in a reading funk I don't know what it is or whether I'll get out of it or not time will have to tell okay I'm gonna start with the books I like the least working up to my favorite of the month so first of all I went to talking my least favorite of the month probably one of my least favorite of the year sadly and that is hot dog wrote by Jennifer Dugan I've talked about this book a lot my channel because I was very much anticipated because I love to cover I love the premise that was told in a theme perfectly I did love it I gave it 2 out of 5 now a lot of you spoken to talk about today I've either done a single review for I've done a matter of you this one I did do a masher before it's in a mesh overview if you want to hear further details of why didn't my kettle really go into it in that review but basically the main character Lou was just very selfish very self-centered only cared about herself also really kind of took advantage of her best friend and I didn't like that at all so sadly to out if I very disappointed I wanted to love it I thought I was gonna love it sadly I didn't I don't want to talk any more about it like I've talked a lot about how much disappointed me but that's how it goes sometimes not every poke you really anticipate it's gonna really be amazing let's be honest it's not moving in to my threes I have first up waiting for Tom Hanks by Carrie Winfrey this is an adult contemporary romance I gave this a 3 out of 5 like I said this is also in a measure of you basically this is about a girl that loves rom-coms that she gets a chance to like work in a rom-com and she meets a movie star and they kind of have a relationship 3 out of 5 because it was just there was nothing really special about it honestly it was so so it was cute yes but will I remember this book forever probably not like it was just a soso plot like when I look at this book when I think about it I just think of the word Sol Sol Sol take with that what you will overall I'd say it's like you're really into the romance genre the contemporary romance I would recommend this one it's cute it's fine like it the cutesy book but will it be forever one of my favorite rom-coms probably not so sadly three out of five like it wasn't horrible but it wasn't amazing so that's why it's 3/5 like smack-dab in the middle but coming in at three out of five is a comic I read this is Buffy the Vampire Slayer reimagining comic and it's volume one high school as hell ID had a three out of five you've already thinking about higher because Buffy no no I'm deeply obsessed with Buffy but I just I don't drive all those comics I've read a few and there has been none that I really loved there have been some graphic novels I've loved um I don't know if this is more comic or graphic novel I would say probably more comic but I just don't it's not my preferred genre it's just not for me so if you're a comic Glover and you're like wow she rated it low I should not check that out my advice with a grand soft because I'm not a comic book aficionado like I don't know much about it I don't love them so get your like opinions from somebody that loves the drawn rabii cuz they may really love this book or they really may not like it for me it was middle-of-the-road it was fun it was Buffy I liked how it was reimagining like Cordelia was super nice they put on you know already they put Robin wood from Season seven already in it and I liked how it was told in modern time so I'd say if like you're a huge book fan definitely check it out I'll probably read a lot of Buffy comments because they're Buffy even though I don't love comics so there you go next up also three out of five I have to say used to live by Kay Tucker I read this on net galley hence why I own a physical copy this book comes out next month so stay tuned for that I read the simple wall last year by catching up around this time actually which is very odd and I adored that book I gave like four or five it was one it's one of my favorite romance books so it's very anticipating this one sadly I just didn't love it this book is told and to Timeline so we have a character named Piper let's do a camp but she's a camp counselor because her mom lets her to get the experience because Piper is very rich it comes for a very rich background and basically Piper meets this bad boy named Kyle I think his name is I forget and they fall in love it's the whole bad boy was a good girl kind of thing and then that's one timeline and then years later it's about Piper she's growing up now and she's kind of the boss at her dad's real estate firm and basically Kyle who she's hadn't seen in like twenty years is the security guard there it's about them talking again because something really insane happened that summer that they fell in love so that is the whole gist of the book I enjoyed it I didn't love it I love the camp aspect of it I did like the past a little bit more because I don't know they were young they were falling in love summer camp I like that but in the future like the modern-day times I didn't love the whole like business real estate firm because I just didn't get a hold of it like I couldn't understand it so I mean it's a 3 out of 5 it's solid I didn't love it nor did I hate it I'd say I like Kate Tucker's writing no matter what don't worry I'll probably read because I just enjoy her writing style and I love her romance so this one I just didn't love as much as a simple lot that will forever be my favorite book by her at least for now next up also three and a five it's fixed her up by Tessa Bailey's this is an adult it's an adult smut both let me just say that I did not I was not aware of that so this year as I've said is the cute but misleading cover so when you look at this cover you think it's gonna be cute rom-com chiclet type of thing no it's very adult very underlined underline underline I don't just so you are fully aware I was not aware there's been so many covers this year that that that's been misleading as anything so in this book we thought your name Georgie georgette who was the town clown like she's the birthday clown and she's always and she's also been in love with her brother's best friend for forever named Travis and he is a professional baseball star only he gets injured he has to move back home and then him and Georgie basically fake date in this book for it to make his image look better and you can guess what happens got a fake date it's got the unrequited love I enjoyed it I didn't love it the ending I really didn't like it was too far-fetched of my opinion also the sheer amount of him calling her baby girl was just insane like he caught a baby girl probably like 15 times on one page and I just got I was over that off me this is gonna be the Steamies book I have ever read like so that it's gonna be what you want I don't know three out of five I will read her series I will tell you that cuz I do enjoy the writing coming into the four stars I have the first one is the T Dragon Society by Katie O'Neill this is a graphic novel I'm gonna be straight with you I don't know the difference between a comic and a graphic novel so please don't judge me if you know the correct answer please leave them in the comments and nicely to help us sister out because I just don't you know right this is a one of those books comic or graphic novel and it's about the society where they have tea dragons and they have dragons where you can help steep tea from them we have characters and it's just really cute it's very short like 60 pages but I can't afford starts because it just made me smile so much I loved how it was seasonal like it went through spring summer winter fall and I loved that so very much so in case you want a book that just will put a smile on your face that has a little bit of a plot but not much to it but just has really adorable illustrations this is a great book port highly recommend stuff it's the friend zone by Abby hi mezes I hopefully pronounce that right this is an adult contemporary romance and it's about a woman named Kristen who has a lot of fertility problems she has to basically get a procedure that's gonna make her never have children and then she meets a guy named Josh and he wants to have all the children and he's kind of opposed against adoption and so basically they fall in love but Kristen does not want to have a future with him because she knows what he wants with a big family and she can't provide that for him so I need this book of foresters I did enjoy it I loved how I talked about infertility not the infertility I really used to but I know a lot of women struggle with irregular periods having a hysterectomy with a lot of things like that so I'd appreciate it for that matter the one qualms I have with this book was just the sheer amount of miscommunications Kristen never communicated what she fully wanted which pushed Josh away which he didn't know so he didn't know how to fix a man because Kristen wouldn't communicate with him I don't want a full ramble about it and a matter of you I'll link it up above but overall I enjoyed it I do it the romance I enjoyed how it talked about infertility but just the sheer miscommunication annoyed me so insanely much it's enough I have goodbye perfect bye Sara padarthas to say why a contemporary book and it's about a character that ones that her best friend has run away with their music teacher and her best friends 15 and these it teachers like 35 or something of that matter and basically I forget the main character's name Eden Eden knows where her best friend and he's a teacher hiding but her best friends like please don't Tony buddy I'm really really happy so eating kind of has to uphold that because she doesn't want to portray our best friends so it's basically a whole book about Ethan's perspective of this whole with her best friend running away with a music teacher which is very illegal it's almost like kidnapping in a way and it's her like learning what to do and had to deal with it pretty much I gave it a 4 and if I really enjoyed it it's my first syrup in our book and I will have to say I would definitely read more because I do enjoy the writing style a ton it's a book that's about a heavy subject but it takes a lighter tone to it which I really appreciate it I really I really appreciate heavy books as well but sometimes I love a heavier tone I love a heavier subject but with a lighter tone so I love this book I love the importance of topic fact octopod I also loved how we saw Eden's character development and then slaying this book highly recommend nobody seems to talk about Sir Bernard booktube but I think she's definitely an author to check out coming in at 4 or 5 is the rest of the story by Sarah Dessen I am so excited I really enjoyed this book you guys know how much I love Sarah Dessen books they're some of my favorite --white books of all time the first ye books I ever really discovered very apprehensive about this book because I have not loved her past three books but I'm glad to say I read this and really enjoyed it really reminds me of earlier Sarah Dessen now Sarah Dessen has so many books it's just like I consider like a recent period of books kind of a middle period of books and then early I'm favorite my favorite period of books for her is the middle I love like locking key along for the ride say anything those favorite books this one I loved it's about a girl named Emma who goes to spend the summer with her maternal grandmother her mom that died five years ago his family pretty much and they live on a lake and she's never really known her mom's family at all so basically that's about her summer learning who they are learn her mother's past because her mother was an addict never really was in Emma's life a lot but either way I enjoyed it a ton and give it a 4 out of 5 I would've given it a 5 out of 5 but it was too late he in my opinion and I just didn't love it fully but I did really enjoy it I really had to smelled my face from certain to finish what I was most about Emma and her family and her connection with them there is a little bit of romance but not a ton it doesn't overtake the plot at all it's mostly a good character development a good family book which I adored so thank you you have not been the biggest fan of Sarah Dessen's books recent releases I would highly check out this one I did sing a review on it I'll link up right here if you want to check it out I really enjoyed it very happy to have read it and the last book I want to talk about is my favorite of the month and that is somersault by Katrina Leno so this 250 page book it's one of our yearbooks a long time who would have thunk it but everyone raised about this book I finally read it first timer Athan had somersault summer Thawne had a fit and it's just a beautiful magical witchy book that I fell in love with basically in this book we have this island caught by the sea and we have these twin sisters both Karen and Georgina and her family pretty much has witchy powers each one of the woman have these magical powers or sister can like levitate and float her mother can have potions and make potions and things like that Georgina has not gotten her power yet and their 18th birthday is looming to get their power and also they are moving away from by the siege in the mainland to go to college and the fall so basically this is all about their last summer their Georgina meets a girl who's also like this exotic bird that comes and basically bird heads come to like watch it's a really an odd way to describe the book all I can tell you to kind of really oh and sell you in it's a basically a summary book with witchy tones that kind of Practical Magic knives hokey but beautifully written very lyrically I loved hearing about this island I loved hearing about the characters it was just beautiful it was beautifully told and I loved how much of a emotional punch and gave me an 200 deep a just highly recommend everyone talks about it with very very good reason check it out because I don't think it'll disappoint you at all there you have it those are the 10 books I read in June looking back I feel pretty accomplished I'm happy I read 10 books that's probably the best month I've had in like a while so I will take it any day so I love to hear your thoughts if you've read in these books please let
