How to Switch Out Your Shutdown Animation on Your Phone
By David from Pham buff.com
To start this tutorial, you will need to have Root Explorer and be rooted. If you haven't already downloaded Root Explorer from the Android market, now is the time to do so. Once you've got your hands on Root Explorer, it's time to dive into the world of customizing your phone.
To begin, you'll need to open up Root Explorer and navigate to the root folder of your phone. At the top bar, there should be a slash followed by nothing behind it. This indicates that you're currently at the root level of your phone. If there's something behind this slash, it means you're in a folder and you'll need to back out of it until you reach the very root of your phone.
Once you've reached the root level, it's time to find the shutdown animation you'd like to switch with. I personally stored mine on my SD card, but yours may be located somewhere else depending on your device. Using Root Explorer, navigate to the location where you stored your shutdown animation and select all the images that make up the sequence.
Next, hit menu multi-select and then select all again. You'll see a copy option appear - this is what we'll use to paste our new shutdown animation over the old one. Copy the selected images and return to the root level of your phone. From there, navigate to the system folder, which should be located in the root directory.
Within the system folder, find the media folder. The name may vary depending on your device, but it should be similar to "system/media". Once you've found the media folder, click on the "shutdown" option and select all the images that make up the sequence again.
Hit delete to remove the old shutdown animation, and then hit paste to replace it with the new one. This is where the magic happens! Your phone will now boot into your custom shutdown animation instead of its default sequence.
After completing these steps, you'll need to perform a quick reset on your device to see the changes take effect. Once you've done this, you should be able to enjoy your newly customized shutdown animation. And that's it - switching out your shutdown animation is as simple as following these steps.
