Zenbook 17 Fold - The World's First 17' Foldable Laptop!

What's Up, Guys?

We're here on SuperSaf TV and I'm excited to share with you my experience with the ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED, the world's largest folding display laptop. I've partnered with ASUS to bring you some early coverage of this innovative device, and I must say, it's been a pleasure unboxing it.

Inside the Box

When we opened the box, we were greeted by a folio case that we can use to carry the fold around. This is a great feature that adds an extra layer of protection and portability to the device. Along with the folio case, we also found the Fold itself, which is where the magic happens. We also have a cardboard kickstand, some paperwork, a USB type-A to USB type-C converter, a 65 Watt type-C power adapter, and cable, and an ASUS ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard and touch pad.

The 17.3 inch Folding OLED Touch Screen Display

One of the standout features of this device is its 17.3 inch folding OLED touch screen display. It's a beautiful sight to behold, with a 4:3 aspect ratio and a stunning display that will make you feel like you're looking at a giant smartphone screen. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass, which adds an extra layer of durability and scratch resistance.

The device also comes with the ASUS Expert software, which allows us to easily switch between multiple different layouts and really make the most of something like this. This software is built-in and can be accessed through a simple interface that makes it easy to customize and adjust the display.

Sound by Harman Kardon and Dolby Atmos

One of the things that caught my attention when I first started using the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED was its sound system, which is provided by Harman Kardon and Dolby Atmos. The quad speaker audio system and quad microphone array provide an immersive listening experience that's perfect for watching movies, playing games, or just enjoying some music.

Ports and Connectivity

When it comes to ports and connectivity, the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED has got you covered. We have two Thunderbolt 4 ports, as well as a 3.5 millimeter audio combo jack. The device also supports Wi-Fi 6E, which provides fast and reliable connectivity for cloud gaming and other applications.

Battery Life

The battery life of the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is decent, with a maximum runtime of around 9-10 hours. However, this can vary depending on what you're doing and how much power-intensive tasks you're running in the background.

Pricing

One of the things that's worth mentioning when it comes to pricing is that the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED starts at around £3,300 in the UK or $3,500 in the US. This is a pretty steep price point, and there are some high-end laptops out there that offer similar specifications for a lower price.

But Is It Worth It?

For me, the answer to this question is a resounding yes. The fact that you can fold a 17.3 inch display in half is just so cool to me. And while it's true that this device may not be perfect for everyone, I believe that it offers something unique and special that traditional laptops simply can't match.

Conclusion

That's all for today's video on the ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED. "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en(upbeat music begins)- What's up, guys?Saf here on SuperSaf TVand this is ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED,the world's largestfolding display laptop. And I've partnered with ASUSto get you some early coverage. So thumbs up for yourboy will be appreciated.Let's get this unboxed. So inside the box, initially,we do get a folio casewhich you'll be able to useto carry the fold around. There is of course, the Fold itself, which we'll come back to,a cardboard kickstand, some paperwork, a USB type-Ato USB type-C converter,a 65 Watt type-C power adapter and cableand the ASUS ErgoSense Bluetoothkeyboard and touch pad. This is so cool. We've got a 17.3 inch foldingOLED touch screen displayand it's so, so beautiful. It has a 4:3 aspect ratio,1 million:1 contrast ratio,0.2 milliseconds response time,100% DCI-P3 PANTONEValidated visa display,HDR500 True Black,a peak brightness of 500nits, customizable color gamutand around an 87% screen to body ratio. So we do have some bezels around the sidesbut they're actually really small. And for a device like this, you do need some bezelso you have somewhere to hold it.For a resolution, we've got 2560 X 1920and we've got a refreshrate of up to 60 Hertz. So clearly this is a very nice display, but the best thing about it is the factthat we can literally fold it in half. And when it is folded,it's like carrying arounda 12.5 inch laptop, just slightly smallerthan an A4 sheet of paper. And it weighsaround one and a half kg.When it's unfolded at its thinnest pointit's just around 8.7 millimeters. And when folded it'saround 7.4 millimeters. Now we've got a reallysteady and durable hinge.,it's been tested for tensof thousands of folds. And for the design, we've gota magnesium aluminium alloyin this tech black color. We've also got the new ASUS logo here, quite like that effect. And then we have thebuilt-in leather case.So this is not only goingto protect the fold,it's going to give you some more grip. And it also has a built-in kickstandwhen you do want to put this uprightfor one of its use cases. Now you must have seena bunch of use casesthat we had in the intro.Let me talk you through these on someof the unique featuresthat you're going to begetting here on the fold, which you're not going to geton pretty much any other laptop. So if you want to utilizethe full 17.3 inch display, you can use this in tablet mode.So you're going to havean open touch screen herebut then you can alsohave it in laptop mode.So you can fold it halfway, have a virtual keyboard, and then it's kind of equivalentto a 12.5 inch laptop. Now, of course, virtualkeyboards are not for everybody. And ASUS does includethis Bluetooth keyboardand it's got magnets. So what that will meanis when you snap it on,the Zenbook Fold will knowthat you now have this keyboard on hereand then it's going toreform-out your displaysto have what looks like pretty mucha full-on 12.5 inch laptop. Now, speaking of thiskeyboard, it's really nice. We've got a touch padand we do have around 1.4millimeters of key travel. It's also really easy to carry around. You can just fold the deviceand it sits right in between. Now, if you're reading an ebook maybe,if you're on the plane, on the train, then you can have it in this reader modewhere you can have pages on either side. You can be really fancyand have this in extended modewhere it's almost like havingtwo 12.5 inch laptop display'sstuck together and everythingflows seamlessly between them. And finally, I thinkone of my favorite modesis desktop mode. And this is where you can use itwith the kickstand and havethis massive 17.3 inch display. And you can use it withan external keyboard. If you just want to have thison your desk and watch a moviethen this is going tobe brilliant for that. And if you want toconnect an external joypadthen it's going to be a greatsetup for gaming as well. Now, speaking of gaming, let'stalk about the performance. So the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is poweredby the 12th generation IntelCore i7-1250U processorwith up to 16 gigabytes of LPDDR5 RAM,1TB PCIe 4.0 X 4 NVMe M.2 SSD,which is the same sizeSSD as any high-end laptopand Intel Iris Xe Graphics. So yes, you're going to beable to do some gaming on herebut this is of coursenot a gaming machine. However, with this particulardesktop view set up,this makes it ideal for cloud gamingespecially because ofthe Tri-Band Wi-Fi 6E.So if you do have asolid internet connectionthen you're going to be able to usethis in its full 17.3 inch glory. And you can use it withan external keyboardor an external controller. Now, in order to utilizethis very unique form factor,ASUS do have the screen expertsoftware which is built-inand this will allow you to easily switchbetween multiple different layoutsand really make the mostof something like this. Now for audio, we do have soundby Harman Kardon and Dolby Atmos, and there is a quad speaker audio systemwith a quad microphonearray and a smart AMP.And for the ports, we dohave two Thunderbolt 4 portsas well as a 3.5 millimeteraudio combo jack. And there's also a fivemegapixel AI camera built-in.Now, if you're worried about durabilityand how this screen isgoing to fare over time, then the good news isthat you do get one yearwarranty in the U.S.,up to two years in Europe andup to three years in China. So this warranty shouldcover the Zenbook 17 Foldunless of course you use a stylusand speaking of a stylus,of course, in tablet modethat would've been quite nice, but because of the natureof the screen beingfoldable and having plastic,a stylus would damage the Zenbook 17 fold. However, you can use acapacitive stylus if you'd likeand that should be fine on here, right? For the battery, we do havea 75 Watts-hour batteryand we do get that 65 WattUSB type-C charger included. What is that going to get you?Well, realistic speaking,as a maximum you can getup to nine to 10 hoursdepending on what you're doing,of course it is going to vary. Finally, let's talk about pricing. So this starts at around £3,300 in the UKor around $3,500 in the U.S. .Now, of course, that is a quite high priceand you will be able toget a traditional laptopwith a much higher spec at this price. However, you're notgoing to get something, that's this unique, the fact that you can foldthis 17.3 inch displayin half is just so, so cool to me.And of course at that pricethis isn't going to be for everybody. However, if you are after somethingthat's really unique andoffers you some use caseswhich you're not going toget on traditional laptops, then the Zenbook 17 FoldOLED may just be for you.(upbeat music begins)If you are interested in finding out moreor picking this up,there will be a link downin the description below. What do you guys think ofthe
