become smoother like you get with those annoying motion processing features on a TV but without a doubt this is one of the best displays on any tablet or phone on the market it's bright sharp colorful fast it is a joy to use and the fact that the battery life has remained pretty much the same despite the brighter and faster screen the extra 2 GB of RAM and the more powerful A10X processor well that's pretty impressive Apple claim you'll still get 10 hours of use and that's pretty much bang on and comparing it to the iPad Pro 9.7 the battery life is as I say pretty much exactly the same but despite the updated Lightning Port that now supports faster USB 3 charging speeds it does still take ages to charge up although Apple do actually offer a beefier 29-watt power adapter on their store which should charge it faster so while the faster screen may be the most noticeable upgrade on the 10.5 the A10X processor is also much more powerful running Geekbench 4 tests compared to the A9X chip in the iPad Pro 9.7 it's 29% faster in single-core performance 80% faster in multicore and in terms of graphics the new 10.5 is a whopping 89% faster with the new processor and double the RAM the new 10.5 is significantly more powerful and no doubt helps the iPad reach the 100-20 frames per second it needs for that smoother Pro Motion display but aside from that the performance boost isn't really that noticeable elsewhere games like Real Racing 3 or Asphalt 8 feel just as smooth on the 9.7 as they do on the 10.5 but hopefully this extra horsepower along with iOS 11 coming later in 2017 will allow developers to make even better-looking and more powerful apps for the iPad going forward as well as all that Apple have doubled the storage to 64 GBs on the entry-level model which is great to see and goes some way to making up for the higher price you also have options for 256 and 512 GB of storage the cameras have also been updated we've got a couple of extra megapixels on the front-facing FaceTime camera and on the rear iSight camera it's still 12 megapixels the same as the iPad Pro 9.7 but it has a much wider f/1.8 aperture versus f/2.2 on the old one so that will make it a lot more usable in low light and that is pretty much everything that's new on the iPad Pro 10.5 and overall I think it's a really solid upgrade I wouldn't say it's worth buying if you already own the iPad Pro 9.7 but if you're still on the iPad Air or earlier models I think now is definitely a good time to upgrade but the problem is as nice as the faster screen is and it's a bit brighter it's more powerful fundamentally it's nothing really different than the old Pro or even say the iPad Air 1 or 2 you know they minor incremental differences there's no need to upgrade they all run the same apps in games maybe this is a touch smoother but nothing that different I think that's why we're beginning to see tablet and iPad sales start to slow because people just don't see the need to upgrade I also don't think the iPads are quite ready for most people at least to be proper laptop replacements this may change when iOS 11 comes out which adds a Mac OS-style dock better multitasking and some proper file management systems and if you then combine that with a keyboard via the SMART connector and perhaps the Apple Pencil maybe it could be a viable option then finally as much as I do really like the iPad Pro 10.5 and I would definitely recommend it for those who want the best what does make it a harder sale is the iPad the basic £339 entry-level iPad which Apple introduced last year replacing the Air 1 it does lack some of the pros features but at nearly half the price it's much better value for someone who just wants an iPad it still runs all the same apps and games and has the same 10-hour battery but as I say if you want the absolute best tablet experience on the market the iPad Pro 10.5 or the new second-gen 12.9-inch iPad if you want the bigger screen are the best options and I highly recommend them so are you interested in buying the new 10.5 or are you going to stick with what you've already got let me know in the comments
iPad Pro 10.5 Review - Worth Buying (2017) _ The Tech Chap
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enso this is the new iPad Pro 10.5 and it replaces this the iPad Pro 9.7 and while on the face of it not a whole lot has changed it's actually quite a big upgrade you've got a bigger screen smaller bezels a 120 HZ refresh rate double the storage double the ram a better camera and a much faster processor it is a bit more expensive though starting at £ 619 or $649 so it is an awful lot of money but is it worth it well first of all as it says on the tin you've got a larger 10.5 in screen and because the bezels are quite a bit thinner around the edge actually it's not that much bigger overall if I put the iPad Pro 9.7 smart cover on the new 10.5 which does work but it doesn't obviously quite cover the whole thing you can see the size difference it's just a little bit taller generally not really any wider so not much of a difference but you are getting A8 in bigger screen which is always nice so it really is the screen that's the biggest upgrade on the new 10.5 not only is it bigger it's also brighter 100 nits brighter now up to 600 nits which is nice but actually that doesn't make a huge difference what does make a huge difference is the stunning new 120 HZ refresh rate or what Apple are calling their promotion display what that basically means is the screen refreshes itself 120 times a second rather than the normal 60 times you get on most screens so everything just feels so much smoother and faster this is by far the biggest selling point on the new iPad Pro 10.5 or the second gen iPad Pro 12.9 but the annoying thing is as I said in my unboxing of this I can't can't actually show you the benefit through this video because it's faster than my camera can capture so you going have to take my word for it that actually it makes a big difference to how fast the iPad feels to use but this promotion display won't make any difference to apps or games that are capped at say 30 or 60 FPS and YouTube videos or Netflix movies won't suddenly become smoother like you get with those annoying motion processing features on a TV but without a doubt this is one of the best displays on any tablet or phone on the market it's bright sharp colorful fast it is a joy to use and the fact that the battery life has remained pretty much the same despite the brighter and faster screen the extra 2 GB of RAM and the more powerful a10x processor well that's see and goes some way to making up for the higher price you also have options for 256 and 512 GB of storage the cameras have also been updated we've got a couple of extra megapixels on the front-facing FaceTime camera and on the rear eyesight camera it's still 12 megapixels the same as the iPad Pro 9.7 but it has a much wider f1.8 aperture versus f2.2 on the old one so that will make it iPad Pro 9. 7 but if you're still on the iPad Air or earlier models I think now is definitely a good time to upgrade but the problem is as nice as the faster screen is and it's a bit brighter it's more powerful fundamentally it's nothing really different than the old Pro or even say the iPad Air1 or 2 you know they minor incremental differences there's no need to upgrade they all run the same apps in games maybe this is a touch smoother but nothing that different I think that's why we're beginning to see tablet and iPad sales start to slow because people just don't see the need to upgrade I also don't think the iPads are quite ready for most people at least to be proper laptop Replacements this may change when iOS 11 comes out which adds a Mac OS style dock better multitasking and some proper file management systems and if you then combine that with a keyboard via the SMART connector and perhaps the apple pencil maybe it could be a viable option then and finally as much as I do really like the iPad Pro 10.5 and I would definitely recommend it for those who want the best what does make it a harder sale is the iPad the basic £339 entry-level iPad which Apple introduced last year replacing the airline up it does lack some of the pros features but at nearly half the price it's much better value for someone who just wants an iPad it still runs all the same apps and games and has the same 10hour battery but as I say if you want the absolute best tablet experience on the market the iPad Pro 10.5 or the new second gen 12.9 if you want the bigger screen are the best options and I highly recommend them so are you interested in buying the new 10.5 or are you going to stick with what you've already got let me know in the comments thank you very much for watching
