Welcome to Apple Insider, I'm Andrew here and welcome everybody. It's time to talk about the iPhone 15 Pro and Ultra series. As you know, the iPhone 14 series just hit the market, and many of you can't even get your hands on the iPhone 14 pros. So, we're going to dive into some rumors and speculations about what's coming next.

Let's start with the name. Where does "Ultra" come from? Right now, we have the iPhone 14 pro and the iPhone 14 pro Max. It's a bit confusing because the max version has a similar design to the standard iPhone, but with a bigger screen. So, Apple could be looking to simplify this by introducing an iPhone 15 Pro and an iPhone 15 Ultra. The Ultra would have a bigger screen, just like the iPhone 14 pro Max.

The iPhone 15 Ultra would likely have a 6.7-inch display, which is the same size as the iPhone 14 pro Max. This larger screen would make it more comparable to the Samsung Galaxy S series and other high-end Android devices. Apple has been using design cues from its Apple Watch Ultra series, which suggests that this new device will also be a flagship model.

One of the main features of the iPhone 15 Ultra is expected to be a periscoping telephoto lens. This would allow for better images than what we currently get with the existing telephoto lenses. The periscoping lens would provide more flexibility and better zoom capabilities, making it ideal for capturing high-quality photos and videos.

However, not everyone is convinced that a periscoping telephoto lens is necessary for a smartphone camera system. Some experts believe that Apple's current telephoto lenses are already quite good, and that the periscoping feature might be overkill. But if you want to capture stunning images with your iPhone, having this type of lens would certainly be an advantage.

Another rumor surrounding the iPhone 15 Ultra is that it might come with a dual-camera selfie system. This would include two separate cameras, one wide-angle lens and another telephoto lens, which would allow for more flexibility when taking selfies. The idea behind this is to create more depth in photos and add more features to the standard camera app.

However, rumors about the iPhone 15 Ultra's selfie camera are still scarce. It's not entirely clear why Apple needs a dual-camera system on the front of the device, but it could be for similar reasons as on the back – better image quality and more flexibility when taking selfies. The larger screen size of the iPhone 15 Ultra might also make it more practical to include such features.

In terms of design, the iPhone 15 Pro and Ultra are expected to follow a similar aesthetic as their predecessors. However, Apple has announced that they will be adopting a new material for the sides of the device – titanium. This is likely an attempt to make the devices feel more premium and high-end, given the prices associated with them.

The use of titanium also means that the iPhone 15 Pro and Ultra will have a slightly different weight and feel compared to previous models. However, some experts believe that this change might not be noticeable enough for most users.

and the iPhone 14 pro Max it's a bit of a mouthful and the max versus the plus of the basic iPhone 14 is a little confusing so Apple could be looking to simplify this with the iPhone 15 series giving you an iPhone 15 Pro with a 6.1 inch display and then the larger iPhone 15 Ultra with a 6.7 inch display the same size as the iPhone 14 pro Max and the iPhone 14 plus for that matter apple looks to be pulling some design cues and naming cues from the Apple watch Ultra the highest end version of the Apple watch so it seems like with this release the iPhone 15 Ultra will have exclusive features that the iPhone 15 Pro does not have so what is the design for the iPhone 15 Pro and Ultra going to look like well it's still going to have a glass back ideal for things like magsafe and wireless charging but the sides could be switching to Titanium another premium material we saw on the Apple watch Ultra with those titanium edges it's going to now round out to the back so it'll keep the flat sides uh 90 degree angle to the front but it will round around the back similar to like the lid of a MacBook Pro this is not only going to be more comfortable to hold in your hand but it could provide additional impact resistance for when you drop your phone because all those Corners are gonna be really hitting the titanium the metal versus any of the glass that is protected around it but what about the port on these phones well Ming Chi quo is actually going as far as saying that not only will the iPhone 15 series adopt USBC but the iPhone 15 Ultra could include Thunderbolt access as well so you can connect Thunderbolt drives as well as USBC drives to your iPhone 15 Ultra what about the cameras iPhone 15 Ultra could be the first iPhone with a periscoping telephoto lens allowing us to get better images than we ever have today with the existing telephoto lenses we're only getting like three times optical zoom and up to 15 times digital Zoom compared to the competition Apple's telephoto abilities have been crummy to say the least because of space consideration only this larger iPhone 15 Ultra will likely get this Periscope lens but quo says that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Ultra will each get that periscoping lens just a year later on the front of this device Apple could be moving to a two camera selfie system rumors here are a bit scarce and it doesn't really say why Apple needs dual selfie cameras one could be a very wide lens one could be a more focused lens with an increased depth of field or they could just be using this to create more depth images kind of like how we have the dual cameras on the back for portrait mode but Apple's been doing so much with software it's hard to say exactly why they need two cameras but again larger size of the iPhone 15 Ultra could make this an exclusive feature to that 6.7 inch phone and not come to the iPhone 15 Pro so that's what we think we know right now Apple will also likely iterate the processor go into the Next Generation chip on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra we're gonna have that new design we're going to have titanium bodies a periscoping telephoto lens dual selfie cameras no touch ID though
