**Cable Location Becomes Hidden Gem**
For most cases with a side panel window and to be fair, this Cable location would also be hidden with a vertical Mount and it does give a bit more clearance for windowed side panels and it's only like 20 bucks more than a regular 4070 TI super. Let's move on switching over to some AI news.
**Toys R Us Returns as a Zombie Brand**
Toys R Us after being scooped up by Venture capitalists and forced into bankruptcy now shambles on zombie-like, attempting to play on our Nostalgia to earn a few dollars for their corporate overlords. Their latest attempt is this creepy f***ing ad made with Open AI's Sora video generation model ostensibly telling the story of Toys R Us founder Charles Lazarus being creatively inspired as a child. Apparently, that's apparently lost on the ad's creators, who used these poorly realized AI sequences rather than paying an actual creative team to make an ad selling their brand look how many versions of the boy appear throughout the ad those are all different people I I can't keep watching this is just too creepy.
**Robots Need Skin, Not Just Rules**
Do you know what robots need a set of rules they must follow so they don't kill all humans? Yes but what they really need is skin real skin alive skin and why not give it eyeballs too. That's what scientists in Japan have done for some reason even have a demo of the skin sticking to stuff and of course smiling aren't you glad you get to live in the future where such things are possible you can almost see the face trying to form the words: I've seen things you people wouldn't believe... attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion watch C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate all those moments will be lost in time like tears in the rain.
**SpaceX Gets Permission to Destroy International Space Station**
Speaking of space, I guess SpaceX has been given permission to destroy the most expensive man-made object ever to exist the International Space Station which will be forcibly deorbited so it can burn up in the atmosphere in a fiery display in 2031 or thereabouts. It was announced Wednesday that SpaceX won the $843 million contract from NASA to decommission the space station which has already lasted well beyond its initial 15-year intended lifespan when NASA asked whose company could possibly destroy the momentum of such a previously successful Endeavor so it could crash and burn the clear answer was Elon Musk.
**Gaming News: Arch Age Closes Down**
Arch age the Korean medieval fantasy massively multiplayer online roleplaying game closed down in the US and Europe this week but it apparently had some very invested players and one New Jersey resident named Edward Kang was so offended by another player's online actions that he flew nearly 1,000 miles to Fernandina Beach Florida purchased a hammer and then hit the victim on the head with the hammer until a stepfather and police responded fortunately Kang's chosen weapon did not include a strength buff and being an MMO player and PC Gamer he was unable to exert enough force with the hammer to cause life-threatening injuries and since he is also being held in police custody it is unclear if he will be able to return to his quest giver to collect his reward and experience bonus but there you have it guys.
**Tech News Wrap-Up**
Tech news for the week and if you liked it click that like button or leave me a comment down below while you're down there all the articles I talked about today are linked in the video's description if you're interested and you can check out my store at Paulshardware.net for high-quality merchandise t-shirts hoodies beer sets which are great for drinking beer and more subscribing to my channel is always good call too happy 4th of July to all my fellow US citizens thanks again everyone and we'll see you next week
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enWelcome back to Paul's Tech News! Friends, today's episode is not merely a summary of tech stories at the end of the week because today is not just the last day of the week or even the last day of June today is the last day of the first half of 2024 and though this year might have been an uphill struggle for some don't worry it's all downhill from here so let's all greet July and the rest of this crazy year with a cautious optimism that's completely unwarranted and at least we get to start 2 with a day off here in the USA which reminds me good excuse to have a beer uh Joe you think we can get some AI generated 4th of July decorations that looks great perfect happy birthday America but first as previously mentioned Technews excellent today's video is brought to you by thermal takes ex series fans featuring magnetic force connectors that can daisy chain fans together to simplify installation and cable management ct120 ex fans feature solid allaround performance and a touch of tasteful RGB lighting the swaan ex series revolutionized case fans by adding swappable fan blades and the tough fan ex Pro Series sports best-in-class high static pressure for use with radiators and an aggressive all black design and all of them feature larger magnetic force connectors for easy wiring for more on the ex series fans from thermal click the sponsor Link in the video description so I'll be honest we're once again in a bit of a dull spot between launches in the PC Hardware news space but there are three big questions I'd like to address today AMD announced the ryzen 9000 series of CPUs launching in July and it looks like those and the strix point apus will be coming in the last week of July and that does represent a little bit of a push back for those strix point apus but what about the 9000-x3d CPUs that will likely be best in-class for gaming when do they come out and what about those new 800 series motherboards that were teased lastly do we have any new competition coming soon for nvidia's GPU dominance no nothing from the AMD radon side but Intel is readying battle mage which has the potential to shake things up there are two other big questions when will Intel's next gen LGA 1851 desktop CPUs launch and when will nvidia's RTX 50 Series gpus launch those have no significant Updates this week as for the ryzen 9000x 3D CPUs though there's several bits of info that could indicate we'll see them come out this year likely sometime before the holidays first there's the new X8 70 and x870 motherboards which will come with USB 4.0 by default and support pcie 5.0 for the GPU and the m.2 nvme slots along with support for better memory overclocking speeds via Expo according to wccf Tech who cites zero sources for this info by the way these boards will focus on high-end features and won't be available until September 30th a full 2 months after the 9000 Series CPUs are available the reason for the delay might be to give retailers more time to sell off existing 600 series am5 motherboards or it could be scheduled to align with the launch of the ryzen 9000 x3d CPUs which are expected although details have not been confirmed by AMD likely there will be a 9800x3D though that supplants the 7800x3D's current status as best CPU for gaming and given the relatively early launch of the non x3d CPUs in July AMD would have time to tee up another debut closer to the holidays and an x3d debut along alongside shiny new x870 series motherboards seems like just the thing AMD would want to do to take the wind out of Intel's sales when they launch their LGA 1851 platform later in the year speaking of Intel launches we who prefer there to be a wide range of affordable entry Lev GPU options for new Builders are particularly Keen to see what Intel's second generation Arc xe2 video cards can do their code named battlemage and although we did not see any desktop variants shown off at computex they did show off a gaming demo of the xe2 based igpu that will power upcoming lunar Lake Mobile CPUs no frame rates were shown in this demo of course but we do have an incremental battlemage update this week per phoronix who noted that the XE kernel graphics driver in the latest Linux 6.11 version lists five new battlemage device IDs presumably for five GPU variants now these could be for battl mage igpus or even just engineering samples that won't see a retail version and it's worth noting that that current list is far smaller than what we saw leading up to the arc Alchemist launch as shown here but it's still an indication that battle mage gpus are in the works and we are hoping that they can at least stir up the sub $500 GPU Market when they do come out which is not expected until q1 2025 at the earliest of course Intel also develops many products for data center use and they showed off a mindboggling new Optical compute interconnect or oci chiplet at the optical fiber Communications conference this week it's still a prototype but the chiplet allows up to 4 terabits per second bidirectional data transfers and it works across distances of up to 100 m that's tough to Fathom that amount of data moving that quickly mostly because a lot of the online data transfer calculators top out in the gigabit range but that's basically a terabyte of data every 2 seconds that's a lot of mp3s and Beyond the very real and multitudinous applications this interconnect would have in the data center space it could also conceivably change desktop PCS further in the future as well allowing gpus and storage devices to connect via an optical cable with massive bandwidth allowing for Unique case layouts and cooling setups that would be impossible with today's standards or even builds that separate heat generating elements to keep them far away from your actual workspace and you know who could probably make use of Intel's Optical compute interconnect technology AMD or so we can assume if they really do have their sites set on building the world's fastest AI supercomputer powered by 1.2 million gpus as amd's GM of data center Solutions Forest NORAD discussed in an interview with the next platform on Monday this is a significant increase GPU-count-wise over current AI data center setups that might have thousands or tens of thousands of gpus working together the most powerful currently running setup of this nature is the frontier supercomputer which has 37 888 radon gpus and to be clear AMD said that this is what they have been asked for by genuine data center clients and hence the title of this article the appetite for data center compute is ravenous and these types of data centers are far more power intensive since AI training actually runs much of the hardware at full capacity versus typical web servers that sit around 20% of usage on a normal day the question from jaded PC Gamers though who already went through a couple GPU shortages thanks to crypto mining is probably how ravenous of an appetite are we talking about here we're already pretty sure that both Nvidia and AMD have nixed top-end gaming gpus from their product plans since they'd rather sell that silicon as AI specialized cards for much higher profit margins if data centers are willing to pay top dollar for gpus with seemingly no cap or Market saturation point in site will supply slowly dwindle for desktop gaming gpus until all we're left with is console HS handhelds and low powered igpus I hope not that would suck what also sucks is when the tech news is too long which is why Tech briefs short let's take a journey across the wide world of random Tech stories from this week starting with actual PC Hardware this gigabyte RTX 4070 TI super the wind Force Max who needs sleeved cables or proprietary Edge connectors to hide the shameful fact that your GPU requires extra power from your power supply when you can just tuck that unmelted 12 VHPWR plug in a bit and voila now your cable is only visible from like 90% of the viewing angles for most cases with a side panel window and to be fair this Cable location would also be hidden with a vertical Mount and it does give a bit more clearance for windowed side panels and it's only like 20 bucks more than a regular 4070 TI super so let's move on switching over to some AI news Toys R Us after being scooped up by Venture capitalists and forced into bankruptcy now shambles on zombie like attempting
