Living The Mr. Kate Lifestyle
### A Day in the Life of Kate: A Glimpse into Her Home and Lifestyle
Hello, everyone! It’s Kate here, and I’m thrilled to give you a tour of my place. I want you to see that I actually live this “Mr. Kate” lifestyle—I’m not just talking about it or giving advice without any real experience. Let’s dive in and explore my home, room by room.

#### The Living Room: Starting with a Color Palette
When you walk into my living room, the first thing you’ll notice is the vibrant color scheme. For me, it all started with these two carpets I had. They became the inspiration for my entire color palette. Using those colors as a base, we spray-painted some random frames and even incorporated them into my artwork.
This IKEA bookshelf was transformed by锯ing out the shelves to create space for the TV. It’s all about repurposing what you have and making it work. Oh, and did I mention how I color-coordinate my books? It might seem a bit obsessive, but I love the way it brings everything together.

#### The Dining Room: A Total DIY Project
Next up is my dining room—a complete DIY project from start to finish. This table was built entirely from scratch using materials I had lying around. The chairs are from my old dining set, and the couch? That’s a hand-me-down from my mom.
I’ve always been resourceful, whether it’s picking up furniture on the side of the road or repurposing items to fit my space. Speaking of which, I found a frying pan recently—though I’m not sure if someone had… uh… “accidentally” used it for something else before I picked it up. Either way, it’s now sterilized and ready for action!

#### The Backyard: Urban Gardening with a Twist
Let’s head outside to my backyard—a small but mighty urban garden. This is where we practice square foot gardening because, well, we didn’t have any soil to work with initially. Instead, we built our own bed using wood, filled it with compost and soil, and added a hidden water reservoir underneath.
You’ll find cucumbers, kale, and other greens growing here. I absolutely love kale—it’s a staple in my diet. Whether I’m steaming it, sautéing it, or adding it to pastas, it’s a constant in my kitchen. And no, I don’t call it a “diet.” It’s a lifestyle.

#### The Bedroom: Vintage Finds and DIY Touches
Stepping into my bedroom, you’ll notice the stone carving of a naked lady I made in high school—it’s pretty hard to chisel nipples, by the way! This canopy bed was another DIY project; we removed the original canopy and replaced it with finials (those little decorations on curtain rods). We even added a piece of wood from Home Depot as the finishing touch.
I love incorporating stains and imperfections into my space because they tell a story. Just like layering flavors in food or outfitting, vintage items bring layers of personality and history to my home. It’s comforting and cool, all at once.

#### The Office: A Workspace with a Vintage Touch
Last stop is our office, which used to be an old media unit. These shelves were cut out from the same IKEA bookshelf we modified in the living room and mounted using shelf brackets. It’s now a functional workspace for my “little person” (my granny gave me that nickname).
Oh, speaking of vintage finds, this trunk was one of my favorite Christmas presents as a kid. My granny always gifted me treasures from the Salvation Army, and this trunk became my dress-up box. It taught me to love and appreciate vintage items, which continues to inspire my style today.

#### Final Thoughts: Imperfection and Gratitude
I’m not perfect, and neither is this “Mr. Kate” lifestyle. But I do my best every day. Whether it’s embracing a little chaos in the closet or having food in my teeth, it’s all part of the journey. And hey, thank goodness for that closet—because when guests arrive, everything just gets shoved in there. Miracles happen!
Thanks for joining me on this tour, and I hope you found some inspiration to embrace your own space and lifestyle. Until next time, Kate out!
