WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en- In this video I will show you howyou can set up a countdowntimer in streamlabs OBSso you will never haveto start your streamwith zero viewers, ever again. What's up everyone, Jellewith TheVideoNerd hereand welcome to thestreamlabs OBS master course. In today's video, we willset up a countdown timer instreamlabs OBS and at the end of the videoI will also show you how you can make itcount upwards for example, for when you're doinga 24 hour livestream. And if you want to growyour influence with gamingmake sure you click the subscribe buttonand turn on the notification bellbecause this channel is perfect for you.Now using a countdowntimer has a few advantages.People are gathering in your streamtalking to each other, waitingfor you to come online. You come online, and youimmediately have people to talk to.It also gives you somemental preparation time. You know that when thetimer hits zero, you have togo online and appear onstream and be energeticand of course you canmake it count upwards fora 24 hour livestream orfor some creative thingsthat you come up with. There are online optionsto add a countdown timerto your stream where you open a countdownin a new window and thenyou capture that windowand add it to streamlabsOBS, but that is very CPUintensive and almost everyoneuses a program calledSnaz, or s-naz I don't know. What that does is it creates a text fileon your computer with a few numbers in itthat represent the time, andthen it updates every secondand it changes thecountdown til it hits zero. Then you import thatfile to streamlabs OBS sostreamlabs OBS reads thefile, and then every secondit gets updated, and a newtime appears on your stream. So without further ado, lets download the programand then set it up.So, go to your browser andthen Google search for Snaz.I will also put a link in thedescription but its just thefirst site that appears andthen right here at the bottomwe can click on download Snaz.I did delete it on my computerso I can re-install itin English and startwith you guys from zero.So lets just go aheadand install the programits done, and then launchit and then we can start. So here is the programand we immediately are inthe right tab, the timedate and countdown tab.Right here at the bottom yousee countdown to specific timeand this is what we willuse to set up our countdown. Now first of all right here, output format, this is howthe timer will lookwhen it's counting downand of course the daysand hours we don't needbecause probably yourcountdown timer will beten minutes, or twentyminutes, or thirty at mostbut not higher. So lets delete the day andthe hour til only the minutesand the seconds are remaining. Then under that we see thedate we will count towardsso when we click on thisicon right next to itit will be reset to ourcurrent date and time.So then right here you justsetup the time where youwill start streaming. For example, 6:30.Okay, .00and then you click on start andthen the countdown will startcounting down to this time. Then you want to makesure that next to thatwe see remove timespanequal to 00 and you want toenable this because whenthe time is zero minutesand fifty seconds whenyou don't enable thisthe 00 will be displayedtoo, and we only wantthe seconds to bedisplayed unless you wantthe zeros to be displayedand then you just disable itbut most other peoplewill want to enable it.Then we need to set up amessage that will be displayedwhen the timer hits zero.So for example, message when doneStream starting.Okay, so now when the timer hits zerothe time will be replacedby Stream starting. And then right here you cansee the path ready text fileswhich I was talkingabout in the beginning. The text file to which the timeis added which we will thenread with streamlabs OBS.So I will show you what I mean right now.So you want to copy thisaddress except the countdown.txtso copy this, then go to your file browserand at the top double click in this barand now replace it with whatyou copied and click enter.Okay, so right hereyou can see the file iscountdown.txt and righthere we can see countdown. So when we click on it, we cansee review here on the rightand you see that it'supdating every second. It's lagging a bit of courseso sometimes it's 2 secondsbut in reality this fileis updated every secondand the content of thisfile is our countdown. So what do we want to do right now?We want to import thatfile into streamlabs OBSso it can be shown on stream. So lets go to streamlabs OBSand there in your sourcescreate a new source andchoose a text source. Now we will call it countdown, add new sourceand then instead of typingsome text right herewe want to enable read from file.We click that, then webrowse, and now again we pastethe URL right here.Okay and then right here we see countdownso we open this and then it will be added. And we can see the countdownright here on stream.Lets click done and then righthere, this is our countdown. Now when you want to scalethe timer, when you wantto make it bigger do notstretch it out right herein the editor, because it willstart to look very pixelated.Make sure you double-clickit in the sourcesand then change the font size right hereto make it bigger click doneand now we have a good timer.Of course you can changethe font of the countdownby just double-clicking it in the sourcesand then as your familychoosing another fontclick done, and then yourtimer looks different. Now you would think thatwe are ready right nowbut we are actually notand I will show you why.So first of all lets positionthe countdown exactlyin the middle of our screenand we can use the pixelson the side of the image. Now you can use yourarrow keys to position itexactly where you want it to be.So now that the timer ispositioned exactly in the middleof the screen I will showyou the problem we have.So lets go back to Snaz andthen lets stop the timerreset the time and makesure it counts a little bitmore than one minute so it will have to be32 and then 10 seconds lets click on startand now its exactly in themiddle but you will seewhen it reaches under one minutethe minutes just disappearand the seconds go tothe front but it isn'tin the middle anymoreand when we fast-forwardthis to zero seconds andwhen the message appearson the stream you will seethat then it's even worse. So how do we fix this?Well it's actually not that hard.Lets double click on thecountdown then scrollto the bottom and there yousee use custom text extentsthis is what we're lookingfor so lets enable itscroll a bit more down and thenwe have a width and a heightI will move this to the side, okay.So now you see the heightis okay because the letteris displayed but we will needto adjust the width so letsmake it 1000 pixels solets see how this looks.Okay so the starting stillis on the second lineso we will make it 2000 pixels. The amount of pixels youinsert right here couldbe different for you becausemy monitor is 4040p soI have more pixels widethan most monitors. So just test it out til it fits and as wecan see right now the height isn't enoughso lets make it like 200 pixels highand now the stream startingis displayed correctly. Now we need to do one morething, lets move this a bitto the middle of theouter box. Then we go backto the settings letsdouble-click it again andthen right here change thealignment from left to center.Okay lets click done andnow this is displayedin the center, lets make surethe box is exactly in middle.Okay, so now lets test itagain. Lets go back to Snazand then stop the timer, reset it to the currenttime and then add a bitmore than one minute, okay.Like this, lets click start.Okay so this works, nowlets test the end message. So go back to Snaz, stop the timer reset itand then lets just adda few seconds, okay.Lets click start. Now it's counting downand we will see that theend message will alsoappear right in the middle of the screen. So everything is set up for the countdown.Make sure you do not close theapplication while streamingbecause when you do thatlike you see right herewhen you close it yourtimer will just disappearso make sure you do notdo that and that youonly delete it when youalready transitioned to yourin game scene, and then youcan close the program becauseyou will not have to go backto the stream starting screen. And for those who areinterested in what I saidin the beginning of thevideo using this program tocount upwards for a 24 hourstream or something like thatlets go back to the program.Lets open it again andthen in the tabs right hereyou need to go to Chronosand here at the bottomChrono up, this is what you will use.So right now lets reset this to zeroand then here the pre-formatyou see the hours, the minutes, and the seconds. You mayhave to select it right hereif it's not a selected option. And of course this is whatyou need for a 24 hour streamthe hours, the minutes, and the seconds. And then lets click on start to test itand you see it counts fromzero to 24 hours or more. And of course to add itit's the same processand actually to make iteven faster you can justcopy the path right hereand then go to the plusto add a new source, click on textokay lets call it count up.Okay add new source thenread from file and thenright here just pastethe URL and it will grabthe text content of thefile on this locationof the chrono up so clickdone and then right hereyou can just add thisto the corner so peopleknow how far you arein your 24 hour stream. So that was everything for this videoremember that this was onlyone of the guides in thestreamlabs OBS master course playlist. So if learning more aboutstreamlabs OBS is somethingyou are interested in, makesure you click on the playlistright there, and if youwant to grow your influencewith gaming and you're notsubscribed yet to this channelmake sure you click thesubscribe button down below andturn on the notification bell.So I will see you in mynext video.
