iOS 11.4 Beta 1 - What's New

iOS 11 Point 1 Beta Released: A Comprehensive Review

Today, Apple released iOS 11 point 1 beta 1 to developers and public beta testers, marking an exciting milestone in the ongoing development process. The beta weighs in at a substantial 2.19 gigabytes, which is consistent with previous releases of this nature. As expected, the next beta is likely to be smaller, but for now, let's dive into the details of this release.

Build Number and Finality

The build number for iOS 11 point 1 beta 1 is 15 F 5 0 3 7 C, where the "C" denotes the finality of the release. This means that we're getting closer to a public release, which should happen in about four or five betas from now. Interestingly, Apple has announced plans for class kit, a new infrastructure designed for teachers and education students, with the aim of providing better classroom management and mobile device management features. These upgrades will likely be integrated into this beta, setting the stage for a more comprehensive update in future releases.

Class Kit and Education Features

The announcement of class kit is closely tied to the upcoming iPad release. The new infrastructure aims to support teachers and education students by enhancing their mobile device management capabilities. This development has been highly anticipated, as it promises to improve classroom management and provide better tools for educators. Apple's intention is to integrate these features into this beta, making them available for testing before they're fully rolled out in the final release.

AirPlay Support

Another notable feature of iOS 11 point 1 beta 1 is support for AirPlay. This functionality allows users to stream audio and video content from their devices to multiple home pods, enabling seamless multi-room audio experiences. Although this feature isn't currently available due to the lack of support for multiple home pods, it's reassuring to know that Apple has included this capability in the beta, as a way to prepare for its eventual release.

Messages in iCloud

One of the most highly anticipated features in iOS 11 point 1 is Messages in iCloud. This feature allows users to access their messages across all devices connected to their iCloud account, without requiring manual syncing or data transfer. Unfortunately, this feature isn't currently available, as Apple's testing indicates that the app has issues when using different iCloud accounts for iMessage and messaging. The development team will need to resolve these issues before Messages in iCloud can be fully integrated into the final release.

Geekbench Results

To gauge the performance of iOS 11 point 1 beta 1, I ran a Geekbench test on my device. The results show that the multi-core score is around four thousand one hundred and sixty-eight, with a single-core score of ten thousand twenty-three. These scores are consistent with previous releases of iOS 11 point 3, indicating that the performance of this beta is comparable to its predecessor.

Battery Life

As with any new software release, battery life is an important aspect to consider. I've found that scrolling on my device feels smooth and responsive, which suggests that the battery should last for a reasonable amount of time. However, it's worth noting that testing battery life typically takes a few days, so we'll need to wait until then to determine its overall performance.

Conclusion

iOS 11 point 1 beta 1 marks an exciting milestone in Apple's ongoing development process. With the inclusion of class kit, AirPlay support, and Messages in iCloud features still in development, this release offers a glimpse into what's to come in the near future. As always, we'll be keeping a close eye on these developments and providing updates as more information becomes available. "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi everyone Aaron here for Zolo Tech and today Apple released iOS 11 point for beta 1 to developers and public beta testers this came in at a very large 2.19 gigabytes and that's pretty typical when you're going from a standard public release 11.3 to a beta or back and forth the next beta I would expect to be smaller let's take a look at the build number the build is 15 F 5 0 3 7 C and that C is interesting because it denotes the finality of when this comes out so once we're at a we're closer to a final release and we should see it released to the public usually in 4 or 5 or in this case the previous one 6 betas now I'm installing it on my iPhone 7 plus a lot of you have asked me to test it out there and test it out on an iPad so it will do that and report back to you after I've used it for a few days on things like battery things like that but there are three major updates in this one of them you can't see and that has to do with class kit so last week when they announced this iPad they also announced class kit and all sorts of new infrastructure basically for teachers and education students things like that so that you can actually have better classroom management mobile device management all sorts of those things and they should be baked into this beta at least that's what Apple said would be coming with 11.4 they've also included airplay too now this doesn't work for me actually right now because I only have one home pod but there is support from multiple home pods finally in this so if you go home and you have multiple home pods you'll be able to pair them and put them in stereo now the update for the home pod is not out yet so you actually can't get that to work but it's built into this beta so that's good news we're seeing that move forward and the one big thing many of us have been waiting for is messages in iCloud why this has taken so long I'm not sure but if you go into settings then you go to your iCloud settings you'll see there's messages and if I go to messages this doesn't work for me for some reason you'll see it says messages and iCloud is not available because iCloud an iMessage accounts are different this worked for me in previous betas and the accounts are not different so I'm not sure what's going on here but unfortunately it's not work for me yet now the speed of it seems to be okay scrolling is smooth 3d touches smooth different apps in the iTunes Store so far have been smooth but it may take a few days to find any bugs see if anything crashes I did do a Geekbench so let's take a look at that and we'll see here now originally I ran this and it was lower than this so right now we've got four thousand one hundred and sixty eight and ten thousand twenty three from multi-core when I ran this a little bit earlier I got lower scores and so I let it cool down again maybe do some background processes and I was able to get a higher score but you can see overall it's pretty consistent with iOS eleven point three and it's previous betas and it feels pretty fast so far there's not much more to talk about as far as that goes nothing could be found throughout the OS I wasn't able to find anything I looked and looked and there's just nothing in here I can't find anything as far as that goes but as soon as I find something else or if I do find something else or the next beta comes out I'll be sure to let you know and I'll do a follow-up like I said reporting on battery is that usually takes a few days to know that for sure if you'd like to get your hands on this
