The Best Kept Secret in Speakers Monoprice Monolith Encore T6 and THX 465-T

**The Encore T6 Speaker Review: A Smart Choice for Home Audiophiles**

Monoprice's latest offering, the Encore T6 speaker, has generated significant buzz among home audiophiles. With its impressive sound quality and affordable price tag, it's no wonder why many are considering this speaker as a viable alternative to more expensive options on the market. In this article, we'll delve into the features and performance of the Encore T6, as well as compare it to other speakers in its class.

At first glance, the Encore T6 seems to be competing against a few other speakers on the market, including the Polk es60, PSB Alpha T20, Klipsch RP280F, and Paradigm SE 3000F. While these speakers all offer good sound quality for their price, I believe that the Encore T6 stands out from the crowd due to its unique design and impressive performance. The real threat to the Encore T6, however, is the Klipsch RP280F, which combines two eight-inch drivers with a horn-loaded tweeter for a sound that offers a lot of punch, dynamics, and an impressive sound stage.

**Comparing the Encore T6 to Other Speakers in Its Class**

One of the most striking aspects of the Encore T6 is its ability to deliver high-quality sound at a price point that's significantly lower than many other speakers on the market. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of some more expensive speakers, I believe that it offers more than enough for most audiophiles. When compared to the much larger and more robust THX 465T, which is also certified by THX, I was surprised to find how close the Encore T6 got to this more expensive speaker in terms of sound quality.

The THX 465T is a formidable speaker that offers top-notch performance and integration with Dolby Atmos. However, its price point is significantly higher than the Encore T6, making it less accessible to many audiophiles. While I believe that the THX 465T delivers better sound quality in some ways, I also think that the Encore T6 is a more viable option for those on a budget. For most folks, I think the Encore T6 is a smarter choice.

**A Look at the Competition: Other Dolby Atmos Speakers**

One of the key features that sets the THX 465T apart from other speakers on the market is its integration with Dolby Atmos. While this feature is certainly impressive, it also comes with a higher price tag. As I mentioned earlier, there are a few other speakers that offer similar features at a lower price point, including the Focal Quora 826D and Klipsch RP86FA.

The Focal Quora 826D is a formidable Dolby Atmos-enabled speaker that offers impressive sound quality and a sleek design. While it may not be as affordable as some of the other options on this list, I believe that it's worth considering for those who want high-quality sound with integrated Atmos capabilities. The Klipsch RP86FA is another option to consider, although its price point is significantly higher than many other speakers in its class.

**The Importance of Law of Diminishing Returns in the Home Audio Industry**

As we've seen with the Encore T6 and THX 465T, even at high price points, there's often room for improvement in terms of sound quality. However, as we transition to more wireless speakers and soundbar systems, conventional loudspeakers like these are having to offer more and more to compete.

In this sense, I believe that we've witnessed a turning point in the home audio industry. With so many options available at various price points, it's becoming increasingly difficult for high-end speakers to stand out from the crowd. As a result, brands like Monoprice are offering products that punch well above their price tag and offer more than enough value for audiophiles on a budget.

**The Encore T6 Bookshelf Option: A More Affordable Alternative**

While the Encore T6 bookshelf is not as highly rated as its full-size counterpart, I believe that it's still an excellent option for those who want high-quality sound without breaking the bank. The bookshelf model offers many of the same features and performance characteristics as the full-size speaker, but at a significantly lower price point.

For those looking to upgrade their home audio system or start from scratch, I highly recommend considering the Encore T6 bookshelf option. Not only is it more affordable than some of the other speakers on this list, but I believe that it offers excellent value for its price.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enI am pretty much always on the hunt for the next great deal in home audio anytime somebody promises me I'll be floored by the performance of a piece of gear especially for its price I'm immediately interested but when I start hearing things like there's nothing else like it on the market well that's when the skepticism sets in and I feel like I have no choice to investigate that's how these speakers ended up in my Testing Lab the monolith Encore T6 and THX 465t two very different speakers that promise to shatter the price to Performance vary so do they are they the best kept secret in home audio and home theater let's find out thank you welcome back everyone I'm Caleb Dennison and today we're going to take a look at two speakers made by Monoprice the brand you might not associate with home audio and if you do may not be the first you think of when you think of high performance home audio but I've had my eye on monoprice's audio gear since it started releasing its products under its monolith sub brand this is a popular thing for companies to do when they sell a lot of different kinds of products right take anchor for instance that's a company that gains some Fame by producing great mobile accessories like portable charging batteries and stuff like that but as anchor decided to get into making and marketing projectors and speakers and earbuds it developed sub brands for those products anchors projectors fall under the nebula brand for instance and it's audio products fall under its sound core brand and they're good products in the same vein Monoprice offers gads of products from TV wall mounts and HDMI cables to coolers and tefl bags to computer monitors and keyboards and when you sell such an Eclectic collection of stuff I suppose it makes sense to create sub Brands right so Monoprice puts Computing stuff under the Dark Matter brand outdoor gear under its pure outdoor brand and audio gear under you guessed it the monolith brand now I think it's fair to wonder if this speaks of a jack of all trades master of none situation but don't forget the rest of that Shakespeare quote which says it may be better to be a check of all trades and master of none than a master of one all of that to say that as the monolith brand has grown and expanded I've been increasingly excited to actually check out their gear because as I said earlier I love to uncover secrets and tell you about them so I'm hoping this video will be helpful to you this brings us to the two speakers I have here the monolith Encore T6 and the Monstrous THX 465 T which independently represents some very significant value but together end up teaching a mini master class in speaker design and marketing so let's dig in the Encore T6 here stands at about 40 inches tall just shy of 14 inches deep and almost 8 inches wide the cabinets are wrapped in a black faux wood vinyl veneer save the top and bottom caps which have a gloss black finish that helps to class up the speakers a bit the horizontally braced MDF cabinets house two six and a half inch woofers a six and a half inch mid woofer which means it pulls double duty producing mid-range and base and a one-inch silk Dome Tweeter that is set in this eye-catching waveguide which I personally think looks very cool it turns out it does a great job too which I'll get to in a minute the speaker is ported to the rear it comes with feet and floor spikes if you want to use them and there are dual sets of five-way binding posts that will allow you to buy amp or buy wire the speaker if you like though they do come bridged so you can connect just one care of speaker Waters with a nominal impedance of four ohms and sensitivity hovering just under 90 DB these speakers fall squarely into the middle of the road in terms of power requirements you don't need a massively powerful amp to drive them but they will benefit from more power I just shy away from trying to drive them with a low wattage tube amp at very high volumes or spls I say that because I did and they're just not suitable for that the Encore T6 retail at Monoprice for 400 each but you can also buy them on eBay presumably also from model price with free shipping for around 300 each so between six and eight hundred bucks for the pair depending on where you buy speaking of I've got links to all the products you see in this video down in the description should you like to help us out and while you're down there click like And subscribe should you feel so moved now the THX 465t is an entirely different monster I mean look at this thing it stands four foot seven inches tall it's wrapped in a textured black vinyl veneer which kind of looks like vinyl instead of wood and each MDF cabinet houses eight drivers each that's a one inch silk Dome Tweeter a two inch silk Dome mid-range and four six and a half inch woofers facing out front and then the atmos Channel up top includes a five and a quarter inch woofer and a 0.6 inch silk film Tweeter they are ported to the front and around back same binding post but you don't buy amp or by wire these guys one set is for the up firing Atmos Channel and the other for the main front-facing channel oh and these things weigh about 56 pounds each which is a hit at something I'll talk about in a moment each of these speakers runs about one thousand dollars each so you're looking at two thousand dollars for the pair now obviously these speakers look different they are designed to accomplish different tasks and they have very different price points but one thing that they share in common is that Monoprice has designed and built these to offer performance that is supposed to exceed expectations at their price and they do exactly that but even in monoprice's own value loaded lineup the difference between these two speakers is pretty significant and that just goes to show you that you get what you pay for it just so happens that with these monolith speakers you'll generally pay less than you will with other brands I want to talk more about the pricing and the performance and the return on investment in just a moment but now let's talk about performance what do you get from this Encore T6 speaker well I'll talk about what I like about it first which is almost everything foremost the Imaging and Sound Stage you get from these speakers are just ridiculously good they paint a wide seamless stage of sound across your room with instruments and voices very precisely positioned in the space across the front of the room vocals for instance seem to come from a very specific spot in this center of the room and it is so convincing that you'd swear there was a third speaker hanging out somewhere in the middle and that sound stage and imaging is effortless too I got it whether I had the speaker set up just right or not a little towed in or perfectly squared off pulled from the wall a couple feet or not it didn't matter now placement did matter when it came to other factors but the sound stage and imaging was solid no matter what and the sounds emanated from Beyond the outer edges of the speakers too not just in between them the Tweeter sounds super sweet it's articulate Nimble poignant and Powerful it offers excellent attack like the transient sound awesome and it is an ace at Decay too so when a drummer's stick hits a ride symbol everything from the transient click of the stick on the metal to the resulting crash sound and the long ringing that comes after it it's all very well done the mid-range is also impressed aggressive with instruments and voices coming through with striking realism and almost uncongested I'll get to that in a moment but by and large the mid-range comes across very well executed then there's the base so the base is prodigious shockingly so I dare say a subwoofer is totally unnecessary for listening to music these speakers offer solid bass and even Some solid subface it's shocking really I mean in this room they got down to 45 Hertz with authority add a sub for home theater yeah but for a music system it's just not necessary overall pretty tremendous but there is one thing I have to talk about and it's the only thing that prevents me from saying this is the budget audio file darling of the year and I bring it up in that context because for most folks these speakers are simply going to knock you dead but for really picky listeners here's the deal these speakers cabinets do reveal themselves there is this I'll call it a thump or it's sort of a boxed in resonance in the mid base that's sort of ever present when listening to any music with any real bass or kick drum it kind of gives the speaker like a mid 70s Vibe some might just call it warm and Rich but really it's a bit more than just warmth or richness and I think all that would be needed to get rid of that factor would probably be to add some bracing and a bit more acoustic stuffing a more rigid cabinet basically or you could strip them of some of their base prowess but I think that would be the wrong move now the only thing that would make these speakers better is if Monoprice added to the cost of making them thereby adding to the price at retail it could make them a little bit beefier and stouter in the cabinet department but you would have to pay for it and I can see why they didn't choose to do that for most folks these speakers are going to be extremely satisfying and probably just blow them away for the price they but what do they compete against At first I felt like there wasn't much like the Encore T6 on the market but there are a few options the Polk es60 uh the PSB Alpha T20 klipsch's rp280f and Paradigm SE 3000f all linked below all come in around the same price per pair and all offer very good sound for the price I think the real threat here though is the Klipsch rp280f which combines two eight inch drivers with their horn loaded Tweeter for a sound that offers a lot of punch Dynamics and an impressive Sound Stage that can rival The Encore T6 now as for the Polk es60 I've not heard them myself but they are similarly equipped and I think should be considered in the same price to Performance category but now let's compare the Encore T6 to the much larger more robust and Better Built THX 465t now no doubt is this the better performing speaker plus it does more for those looking to outfit at a home theater space since it offers integrated Dolby Atmos speakers take everything I just said about the Encore T6 and apply it to the thx-465t but with a slightly more transparent mid-range and better controlled base they are definitely a step up a more refined speaker I enjoy them very much and we can talk about comparisons to other brand speakers in a moment but here's the thing as I switch between this massive THX certified speaker and the more conservative Encore T6 what I was really struck by was just how close the T6 got to this much bigger more expensive speaker I mean shockingly close within monoprice's own monolith line I have to start questioning the law of diminishing returns is the THX 465t better yes is it more capable yes is it 600 more per speaker or twelve hundred dollars more per pair better I mean for most folks I think no look the THX 465t has its place an elaborate home theater top-notch performance is in demand but the budget is a real concern the THX 465t delivers for that customer perhaps better than most but for folks who want all the sound they can get really big convincing high quality sound for a very manageable price well the Encore T6 are just a smarter choice I think more folks will fall into that camp and that kind of forces me to look harder at the unfortune system I can see how some folks are going to be blown away by what this week let's do it but going back to the THX monster there's not a ton of competition out there right now for this thing the focal quora 826d is a formidable Dolby Atmos enabled speaker and it actually costs a little bit less it's also very pretty if you ask me so I'd have to consider that one other than that though I'd look to Klipsch
