LG V10 - Full Review

The LG V10: A Feature-Packed Smartphone with Superior Cameras and Hardware Specs

One of the standout features of the LG V10 is its versatility, which is evident in the variety of camera modes available. The phone has multiple cameras, including a standard lens and a wide-angle lens, allowing users to capture different types of shots. Additionally, there are advanced features such as multi-view mode, which allows users to take photos from each camera and stitch them together into a single image.

For those who prefer simplicity, the phone also offers a "simple" mode that strips away all the controls, allowing users to take photographs by simply tapping on the screen. The phone also has a video feature called "snap," which takes 3-second video recordings and stitches them together automatically. Furthermore, the LG V10 features manual camera modes, including manual focus, white balance, and exposure compensation.

The manual camera mode is particularly impressive, allowing users to adjust settings such as ISO level, aperture, and autofocus with precision. Users can also save their images in either JPEG or JPEG+RAW format, which provides additional flexibility for post-processing. The phone's metering point is displayed prominently on the screen, along with an inclinometer, providing users with precise control over their camera settings.

One of the most exciting features of the LG V10 is its full manual mode for video recording. This allows users to record ultra-high-definition footage at 30 frames per second at a staggering 6 megapixels per second. The phone's white balance, autofocus, and exposure compensation can be adjusted manually, providing users with complete control over their video settings.

Another notable feature of the LG V10 is its microphone, which offers advanced audio controls such as wind noise reduction and directional sound adjustment. Users can also monitor their audio settings in real-time, allowing for precise tuning. The phone's full monitoring feature provides detailed information about the audio settings, including gain levels and frequency response.

The LG V10 also features optical image stabilization (OIS) and full active image stabilization (FAIS), which provide users with advanced noise reduction and correction capabilities. Users can toggle between these modes at will, depending on their preference for raw footage versus processed stabilization.

In addition to its camera features, the LG V10 offers several other settings that enhance user experience. Users can adjust the frame rate of their video recordings from 1 fps to 30 fps, with multiple bit rate options available as well. The phone's battery is removable, providing users with flexibility and convenience.

The LG V10 also includes a few convenient features for sharing content on social media. For example, users can launch Instagram or other apps directly by swiping up or down on the screen, allowing them to quickly share their latest photos or videos. Furthermore, the phone has a pop-out viewer that allows users to quickly review and share their images with others.

Overall, the LG V10 is an exceptional smartphone that offers superior cameras and hardware specs, making it one of the most feature-packed devices available in the market today. Its flexibility, advanced features, and robust design make it an excellent choice for those who want a premium smartphone experience without sacrificing functionality or aesthetics.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's going on guys Mike here the Detroit Borg checking out the LG V10 this is one of my favorite phones from 2015 we're finally getting a chance to get through my full review of it so the LG V10 has some standout Hardware characteristics including a very large 5.7 in Quad HD LCD IPS display with a pixel density of 515 but just above that display is another display so this is a secondary display uh which is about 2.1 in with a resolution of 160x 1040 so this is used in a number of ways in the software which will explore in this video this also has a really stand out camera system on the back 16 megapixels with an f1.8 aperture one of the largest apertures on the smartphone today with laser assisted autofocusing Optical image stabilization and of course an LED flash on the front we have no less than two 5 megapixel front-facing cameras with an f2.2 aperture one has a wider angle lens than the other which is good for group selfies also on the back is LG signature button placement so we have our power button flanked on either side by volume rockers that power button now integrates a fingerprint sensor which is a first for an LG phone now something very unusual on a flagship smartphone today is a removable back panel which gives you access to the very large 3,000 mAh battery which you can swap out we'll also find a Micro SD card slot which supports up to 200 gigs and this phone already comes included with 64 gigs of internal storage with 4 gigs of RAM now the design of the LG V10 is pretty robust it's a very large phone also feels fairly Hefty and thick but along the side you'll find these stainless steel rails which really gives a sense of rigidity to the phone along the bottom Edge we'll find our headphone jack micro USB port a microphone in addition to a single loudspeaker which isn't great but it does get the job done the V10 also features Quick Charge 2.0 with a fast charger included so you can recharge the 3,000 mAh battery to 50% in 40 minutes in terms of battery life I was able to achieve around 3 and 1 half hours in benchmarks with a screen set to full brightness typically I'd like to see this around 4 hours for a phone with a 3,000 mAh battery but that's to be expected with so much screen Rel state to light up along the top edge of the phone we'll find another microphone in addition to an IR blaster for remotely controlling our AV Equipment the V10 is also powered by a Snapdragon 808 hexacore processor with an adreno 418 GPU this delivers excellent performance scoring around 1,200 over 3600 on geekbench this is very similar to the similarly speced LG G4 but with an extra gig of RAM for improved multitasking performance system performance is excellent on this phone despite its heavy skin the phone feels fast and smooth without noticeable lag or hesitation which wasn't the case with the LG G4 or the Flex 2 image quality is excellent with crisp detail and Vivid colors especially in full daylight conditions the camera benefits from laser assisted autofocusing and Optical image stabilization which means the camera is able to find Focus accurately in all lighting conditions because of the wide aperture the camera does spend more time moving the Optics to find Focus but that does give us a very professional looking shallow depth of field the wide aperture also delivers good low likee performance and sensitivity but the camera tends to overexpose some light sources to bring up low light detail low light detail is excellent without too much processing the soft detail but you also don't see a lot of color noise 4K video is also excellent with continuous autofocusing and full Optical image stabilization which means handheld video looks very smooth in all shots with laser AF the camera is able to find Focus accurately although the camera spends a lot of time finding Focus which can be very disruptive while recording video it's especially noticeable in these smooth panning shots as a camera hunts around every few seconds to adjust focus much of this can be remedied if you use manual mode and because the camera records in a very high bit rate detail in video is outstanding what is up guys Mike here the Detroit Borg testing out the front-facing camera of the LG V10 right now we're in the standard view this is kind of the portrait view without the wide angle unfortunately I can't switch between them while recording which makes sense here now it does challenge the exposure compensation here so you can see it doesn't quite it's not able to find my face as well as I like to see but again image quality is excellent so is Mike pickup and this is the wide angle actually a lot more in the shot so this is great for concerts group selfies or any situation in which you want to see more of the background next up let's take a look through the software experience there's a lot going on here this is a fairly heavily skinned version of Android 5.1 at the time of this video so if we swipe to the right we get smart bulletin so we have things like smart tips quick remote for using the IR blaster on the top of our device for remotely controlling our AV Equipment our calendar music app LG health for compiling our health and fitness data as well as smart settings which allows us to automate certain actions so if we tell the device where home is we have automated actions we can turn on and off so we can change the sound profile uh turn Bluetooth on turn Wi-Fi on if you connect to set of headphones they'll open the music app and if bluetooth automatically connects you can have it open up certain apps and if you want to modify these you can go right to the settings panel now if you don't want smart bullet appear you can turn it off and we have certain features we can turn off manually now we can also edit our home screen here so if we pinch in and out like so we can actually rearrange them if we want and as you can see if you want to select different home screens here you can go ahead and select it by hitting the home icon in the upper right corner of course you can also add new pages or you can tap and hold to remove them tapping and holding on the home screen gets to a different editor so we can drag and drop our apps to the home screens we can see widgets as well in addition to different wallpapers so we have live wallpapers photos and more swiping down we can get to our quick setting toggles up top and there's a lot to take a look at here of course we also have a brightness slider in addition to autom mode which you can enable or disable now these Quick Settings include things like Capture Plus which allows us to take a screen grab and then annotate it if we want to we also have our Wi-Fi control panel if you want to jump right to the settings panel you can just tap and hold on the toggle we also have our do not disturb settings which we can cycle through so we have priority only no interruptions or all Interruption and again you can tap and hold on this to get to the editor so this allows us to specify our priority only events we also have downtime under here so this allows us to select specific days and times in which we mute our notifications we also have a battery saver mode which you can toggle on and off and again you can tap and hold on it to get to the S panel to modify how this behaves so right now we have turned battery saver on at 15% so we turn this on this will only engage when the battery drops down to 15% or less we can also togg on restrict apps in background or block use of second screen so this will turn off the second screen so we save some battery life and again that only turns on at 15% or less and if you tap on it we can go to 5% or immediately so you can turn this on right now of course we do have NFC a flashlight so we can quickly turn on the LED flash on the back or turn it off we have the Q slide apps a feature we're pretty familiar with from previous LG skins so these are apps that basically pop out in these little window views so for example if you want to quick calculator here you get this window view which you can resize you can also change the opacity so you can see what's on this window while doing something else in the background so for example if you punch in some numbers and you want to punch them into a spreadsheet you can bring it up and dim this in the background so you can interact with the spreadsheet without triggering this so right now you can see it doesn't work but if I bring up the opacity now it works now you are limited to two Q slide apps open at the same time here now all of these are LG designed apps so you w't find Google apps or things that scale to these Q slide apps uh you can go here to edit them as well so if you want to remove some of them or rearrange them you can do so we also have Quick Remote so this allows us to quickly access our remote control right through our notification panel now if you have a set of headphones connected you can also enable the Hi-Fi dck and if you want to know what that is tap and hold on it and it takes you right to the control panel so this gives us full 32-bit digital audio conversion to our headphones making it one of the best sounding amplifiers built into a headphone jack on a phone I've ever tested so we can adjust our Global volume or adjust the volume of each headphone individually but of course there is even more than this and if we go to edit we have some additional controls here we can turn on or off so we can turn on our volume controls in addition to the brightness slider and we have some additional options we can turn on like mirrorcast screen timeout Smart Share beam data enabled so you can turn off data LTE data or cellular data if you want and we have screen color inversion so if we go to the home screen now and swipe down you can see those changes have been applied and we have our volume slider we can see our individual volume controls for everything so we have granular control over volume settings and then we have additional features like color inversion which you can see here uh and of course you can turn off data Smart Share beam which allows us to share data through NFC and then we can go to edit to re arrange them if we want or just turn off ones we don't want now if you're not familiar with mirrorcast this allows us to wirelessly mirror the display and audio of our phone on a compatible device like a smart TV or a set toop box now toward the top we have this second screen which is very useful although it's kind of been a hard to reach location but this gives us quite a few features at the ready so we have our message here which allows us to customize the message this is really just personal you can turn this off if you don't want it so if we swipe to the right we get to our app so these are quick apps we can quickly launch to so our camera app contacts our photo gallery messaging app and settings you can also go to our recently accessed apps right here so for example if I tap on the messaging app you can see that app jumps to the Forefront and of course I can quickly jump to any app I want and takes me again right to the front of the line swipe to the right again we get to our media playback controls here so we have play pause and that sort of thing so if you're playing music in the background you have them right here I also have my favorite contacts so I can quickly phone call them or message them by tapping on them and of course I can add new ones from my contact list I also have my calendar events if I have any pending and that's it now in terms of these app shortcuts you can modify these so for example you can remove the settings icon if you want and then you can go ahead and add an app like the play store or Chrome or something like that and you can also rearrange them instead speaking of rearranging you can move the app drawer icon around a lot of skins don't allow you to do that now if your device is locked the second screen acts as a persistent display for displaying your notification badges weather conditions date and time as well as battery information you can also swipe across this screen to get to additional controls like toggles for your volume so you can mute your phone Wi-Fi so if you want to turn off your Wi-Fi you have your LED flash on the back and you can quickly launch into the camera app the second display also acts as a notification screen so when you receive notification popups they'll fill up the screen instead of blocking your main screen we have a few features under second screen settings so we have to go to our settings panel if you go down under device and select second screen we can toggle off show when main screen is on so if you turn this off this will tell you exactly what happens but this will hide it from view so it's no longer active and you can go ahead and turn it on again we also have show when the main screen is off so if you don't want this to constantly be on let's go and select lock the device you'll see that the second screen is now turned off in terms of these Android navigation Keys a fairly familiar experience here in some ways and we have some enhancements in others so of course we have our Google Now feature we're all pretty familiar with and then we have our recent apps with the overview feature which works really smoothly on this phone but we have a few enhancements here like clear all so we can close all of our Windows here or we can activate dual Window mode so we can choose the apps we want or we can use a recent recipe so I've recently opened YouTube and chrome at the same time so let's go and select that and it should open up Chrome and YouTube at the same time in split windows now for the app highlighted in blue I can go ahead and tap on this little icon to act upon it so I can swap between the top and bottom if I want I can also expand the screen out or just close it and if I tap here this will actually allow me to select a different app to open in that window dual Window mode can also be accessed from the opened app so right now if you look at the overview feature you'll see these little icons indicating that these specific apps are compatible with dual window so for example right now Instagram is not compatible with it neither is Twitter but if you scroll down here you can see Gmail is so let's go ahead and select Gmail and then we'll have to select another app to open side by side so let's go ahead and just select the native male client so there we go they're open side by side we can also prevent certain apps from being close here so all I have to do is Select these pin icons and they won't shut down if I clear all so there we go those four apps remain we can also activate dual Window mode within certain apps so right now I'm looking at an email and if I want to open up a link like so this will actually open it up in a separate window here in dual Window mode taking a look at the App Drawer there's also a lot going on here so we have apps Widgets or we can just search for whatever we want so if we go to settings we have additional things we can look at like View apps by name download date or custom so with custom we can actually rearrange these apps and folder them if we want so if we go up to edit or uninstall apps we can now move them around or folder them and if we go to folder here you can change the name change the color that sort of thing now within this editor you can see certain apps have red access indicating they can be disabled or uninstalled so for example if I click this I can disable it and for certain apps I can just uninstall them but if you can't do either you can hide certain apps from view entirely so if you want to hide certain apps here let's click hide those check and they're invisible now and of course if you want to restore them just go back to hide show apps and you can see the ones you've selected and you can unselect them now getting back to the settings panel there's a lot to take a look at here which also reveals many of the features you may not be aware of so of course we have search so we can just search for whatever we want if we want to jump to our display settings it comes up right away now we have two different views for our settings panel we can have this continuous list view or we can select tab view which gives us these little tabs to quickly jump to so under wireless networks we have airplane mod Wi-Fi and Bluetooth so all of these we can toggle on and off quickly or jump right to the settings panel there's also a ton of options and features under call there's too many to go through here but one of the things we can do is Select call reject so we can actually block certain numbers so you can add numbers here and you can also select your call reject mode so you can turn this off reject calls on the list or reject all calls you can also decline with a message so if you're receiving a phone call you can send a text message to that caller if you're busy and of course you can also add your own custom message if you prefer we have noise suppression and voice Clarity so these will bump up the voice quality of your caller we also have these two gestures hidden under here so we have answer an incoming call just by raising the phone to your ear which I find very useful you can also silence an incoming call by flipping the phone over under share and connect this is where you can turn off NFC or Android Beam or activate SmartShare beam so this works with LG devices we also have media server which works with D Equipment like an AV receiver or computer so basically this sets up a DNA server on your phone which allows you to access the content of your phone on those devices and vice versa you can also name your phone or given an image on the DLNA Network you can also select what you want shared photos videos and music or none of the above you can also receive content by checking this and you can see allowed devices or not allowed devices on the network of course we have mirrorcast which you can turn on and off and then we have LG Air Drive which allows you to use your LG account to set up a bridge between your devices and then you can share content under sound end notifications of course we have a lot going on such as your sound profiles we have vibrate only we have granular controls for all of our volume settings here we can also change the vibration strength here and then we have sound and vibration so if you want to combine them you can and then we have vibration types so we have a number of ones we can pick from you can also add new ones by customizing the tap tone under display this is where we can modify the home Touch button so if we go to here you can see we have different combinations we can pick from and modify we've seen this before on other LG devices so we have buttons we can add like notification Capture Plus Q slide and dual Window mode all we have to do is drag and drop them or rearrange them now you can only add two more above the three standard uh of course you can't take out your home button back button or your recent apps button so obviously with the notification button here if you tap that that just brings down the notification panel without having to reach up to the top to swipe down you can also quickly access your Q slide apps again from this dedicated button if you want and then we have Capture Plus which again allows you to take a screen grab and annotate it and with dual Window mode we can quickly launch into that feature but wait there's more if you go to color you can change the color here so if you want a lighter background you can pick that we can also hide the home touch buttons from certain apps so for example if we select Chrome here and now we go to Chrome you'll see that the uh touch buttons will disappear until you swipe up on home screen this is where we can turn off Smart bulletin and of course you can also select your launcher one of those launchers is easy home so this will simplify the interface make the icons larger and if we swipe all the way to the right we have quick access to our frequent contacts which you can add here under lock screen we also have quite a few features to take a look at such as shortcuts so this allows us to add app shortcuts to the lock screen I've added three already you can go ahead and add different ones if you want so if you want to add the music app or the photos app you can go ahead and select those so I have to do is click save and now if I go to the lock screen you can see I have quick access to those apps which I can swipe up on of course this only works if you have swipe to unlock so if you're using a fingerprint that won't work also lock screen we have weather animation so we can show our current weather conditions if there's any precipitation right on the lock screen so unfortunately right now nothing's going on except Sunshine we also have mini view so this allows us to quickly shrink down the screen to a thumb reachable position which allows us to resize this window or reposition it or just close it out so the way this works is if you want a right Justified screen you swipe right on the navigation keys or if you want a left justify just swipe left we also have Smart cleaning which will scan your system for files you can free up to free up storage space now there is a fingerprint scanner for the first time on an LG phone so let's go and check that out so of course there's lots of settings for security and fingerprint let's go ahead and add a fingerprint to show you the process of course I will need to enter in the pin I set up when I first entered my first fingerprint so you can see I have one added already so let's go ahead and add another I'm just going to do my left index finger here and show you the process so all I have to do is tap your finger to the sensor on the back and it coaches you through it so once you've trained all the fingerprints you want you just have to enable screen lock and you can use your fingerprint to hide or unlock content in your gallery or quick memo so now if I go to the lock screen you can see it quickly unlocks and it's very reliable and fast now as always the keys on the back do have multiple uses so when the screen is locked here if you double tap the volume down key this will quickly launch into the camera app and it's really fast so again let's just show you that quickly launches into the camera app and you can snap a photograph also when locked if you double press the volume up key this will launch into quick memo plus you can take a quick note of course there are settings for this as well so if you go to system and shortcut key you can see exactly what this is and you can turn this off and on you can also enable quick shot so if you enable this this will quickly snap a photograph as soon as you launch the camera app so if you demonstrate this here snaps a photograph right away so taking a close look at the camera app there's a lot going on here so you can see the second screen is used for some uh camera controls you can quickly jump through your modes and then that leaves the rest of the screen for additional controls and Screen real estate to see your shot of course we have the standard controls we're taking the photograph pinch in and out to zoom and you can tap anywhere to adjust exposure and focus uh we can also record our video which is available in 4k and of course it is optically stabilized and while recording video we can pinch in and out to zoom with continuous autofocusing also on that second screen you can see we have this little scroll wheel for zooming in and out now before we take a look at some of these other modes here if we go to settings you can see we have lots of options such as our screen grid if we want we have our timer on and offs that goes all the way up from 3 to 10 seconds we can also use voice control so we can say cheese smile whiskey kimchi or LG to snap a photograph so let's try one of those cheese takes the photograph we also have our resolution here so we can see our video resolution goes all the way up to 4K or full HD or standard HD which is 720p and then we have our 4x3 1x1 or 16x9 modes right here which I have selected and of course we have our rear-facing camera and there's a lot going on here as well because we have two camera lenses or two camera systems entirely uh so we have the standard lens here and then we have the wide angle lens so that get you a nice wide angle view for a group selfie or something like that or if you want to get more in the background we also have a few other tricks here so if we hold up our hand here it recognizes it if we make a fist this will give us a little countdown and snap a photograph we also get some interesting modes here such as multi view so we have three cameras to work with and we can snap a photograph from each camera and it will Stitch it together into a single image now if you want to simplify this interface you can go to simple and that strips away all these controls and you just tap on the screen to take photograph we also have snap which is a video feature basically this will take 3 second video recordings and Stitch them together automatically we also have our manual camera mode and there's a lot going on here so you can see all of your metering up top which includes your aperture shutter speed ISO level autofocusing and white balance and then you can see we have our manual controls down here such as white balance which you can scroll through through here or select auto we also have manual focus and again you can select auto if you prefer exposure ISO or aperture so you can manually adjust your aperture and then you can go ahead and lock exposure with this control down here you can also save your images in jpeg or jpeg plus raw this mode also gives us our metering point in addition to an inclinometer now one of the most exciting new features with the LG V10 is full manual mode for video now I'm recording an ultra high definition at 30 frames per second at 6 Megs per second you can see our white bounds uh you can see we're in manual focus right now in addition to other settings like ISO level and your aperture uh so of course you can man control your white balance manual focus ISO uh and I have to free up looks like exposure lock in order to get controls to my exposure here and then you can see your aperture but what's really interesting here is your microphone so you can increase your microphone sensitivity you can apply a wind noise filter you also have this directional control so if you want to increase the volume of audio sources in front of the camera or behind the camera you can go ahead and select those manually and if you look up here we have full monitoring for our audio as well we go to our settings here you can see which mode I'm in right now ultra high definition at 16x9 we have full HD at 16x9 full HD in cinema so extra wide we also have a standard HD or 720p at 16x9 or Cinema which again is extra wide we also have this little control for optical image stabilization or full active image stabilization which you can toggle on or off so if you just prefer Optical image stabilization you can see it gives you the full image but if you go for processed stabilization you can see it actually crops the image now that is not available within ultra high definition you just have Optical image stabilization you can also change your frame rate here so we have 1 2 24 or 30 frames per second and then you can change your bit rate from medium low to high now to find out what the bit rate is for each mode here so you can see medium is at 48 Megs per second if we go back here to change that bit rate to low you can see that goes to 30 Megs per second if we go to High here that jumps back to 64 Megs per second there are a few other tricks here so you can switch between the front- facing and rear facing camera by swiping up or down we also get a little pop out viewer that allows us to quickly share the last image or video with one of our apps so for example if you want to launch Instagram to post the last image this will do so ultimately the V10 is one of the most feature packed smartphones on the market today with superb cameras and hardware specs and is one of the few phones to retain full Hardware flexibility with a removable battery it's a fairly large and Hefty philm weighing in at 192 G it may not be for everybody but it remains a stand up Flagship film for those who want something a little more advanced than the LG G4 all right guys that's going to do for me in this video if you liked it please give it a thumbs up to let me know and stay tuned for comparison with the LG G5 all right guys I'll see you again in the next videowhat's going on guys Mike here the Detroit Borg checking out the LG V10 this is one of my favorite phones from 2015 we're finally getting a chance to get through my full review of it so the LG V10 has some right we get smart bulletin so we have things like smart tips quick remote for using the IR blaster on the top of our device for remotely controlling our AV Equipment our calendar music app LG health for compiling our health and fitness data as well as smart settings which allows us to automate certain actions so if we tell the device where home is we have automated actions we can turn on and off so we can change the sound profile uh turn Bluetooth on turn Wi-Fi on if you connect to set of headphones they'll open the music app and if bluetooth automatically connects you can have it open up certain apps and if you want to modify these you can go right to the settings panel now if you don't want smart bullet appear you can turn it off and we have certain features we can turn off manually now we can also edit our home screen here so if we pinch in and out like so we can actually rearrange them if we want and as you can see if you want to select different home screens here you can go ahead and select it by hitting the home icon in the upper right corner of course you can also add new pages or you can tap and hold to remove them tapping and holding on the home screen gets to a different editor so we can drag and drop our apps to the home screens we can see widgets as well in addition to different wallpapers so we have live wallpapers photos and more swiping down we can get to our quick setting toggles up top and there's a lot to take a look at here of course we also have a brightness slider in addition to autom mode which you can enable or disable now these Quick Settings include things like Capture Plus which allows us to take a screen grab and then annotate it if we want to we also have our Wi-Fi control panel if you want to jump right to the settings panel you can just tap and hold on the toggle we also have our do not disturb settings which we can cycle through so we have priority only no interruptions or all Interruption and again you can tap and hold on this to get to the editor so this allows us to specify our priority only events we also have downtime under here so this allows us to select specific days and times in which we mute our notifications we also have a battery saver mode which you can toggle on and off and again you can tap and hold on it to get to the S panel to modify how this behaves so right now we have turned battery saver on at 15% so we turn this on this will only engage when the battery drops down to 15% or less we can also togg on restrict apps in background or block use of second screen so this will turn off the second screen so we save some battery life and again that only turns on at 15% or less and if you tap on it we can go to 5% or immediately so you can turn this on right now of course we do have NFC a flashlight so we can quickly turn on the LED flash on the back or turn it off we have the Q slide apps a feature we're pretty familiar with from previous LG skins so these are apps that basically pop out in these little window views so for example if you want to quick calculator here you get this window view which you can resize you can also change the opacity so you can see what's on this window while doing something else in the background so for example if you punch in some numbers and you want to punch them into a spreadsheet you can bring it up and dim this in the background so you can interact with the spreadsheet without triggering this so right now you can see it doesn't work but if I bring up the opacity now it works now you are limited to two Q slide apps open at the same time here now all of these are LG designed apps so you w't find Google apps or things that scale to these Q slide apps uh you can go here to edit them as well so if you want to remove some of them or rearrange them you can do so we also have Quick Remote so this allows us to quickly access our remote control right through our notification panel now if you have a set of headphones connected you can also enable the Hi-Fi dck and if you want to know what that is tap and hold on it and it takes you right to the control panel so this gives us full 32-bit digital audio conversion to our headphones making it one of the best sounding amplifiers built into a headphone jack on a phone I've ever tested so we can adjust our Global volume or adjust the volume of each headphone individually but of course there is even more than this and if we go to edit we have some additional controls here we can turn on or off so we can turn on our volume controls in addition to the brightness slider and we have some additional options we can turn on like mirrorcast screen timeout Smart Share beam data enabled so you can turn off data LTE data or cellular data if you want and we have screen color inversion so if we go to the home screen now and swipe down you can see those changes have been applied and we have our volume slider we can see our individual volume controls for everything so we have granular control over volume settings and then we have additional features like color inversion which you can see here uh and of course you can turn off data Smart Share beam which allows us to share data through NFC and then we can go to edit to re arrange them if we want or just turn off ones we don't want now if you're not familiar with mirrorcast this allows us to wirelessly mirror the display and audio of our phone on a compatible device like a smart TV or a set toop box now toward the top we have this second screen which is very useful although it's kind of been a hard to reach location but this gives us quite a few features at the ready so we have our message here which allows us to customize the message this is really just personal you can turn this off if you don't want it so if we swipe to the right we get to our app so these are quick apps we can quickly launch to so our camera app contacts our photo gallery messaging app and settings you can also go to our recently accessed apps right here so for example if I tap on the messaging app you can see that app jumps to the Forefront and of course I can quickly jump to any app I want and takes me again right to the front of the line swipe to the right again we get to our media playback controls here so we have play pause and that sort of thing so if you're playing music in the background you have them right here I also have my favorite contacts so I can quickly phone call them or message them by tapping on them and of course I can add new ones from my contact list I also have my calendar events if I have any pending and that's it now in terms of these app shortcuts you can modify these so for example you can remove the settings icon if you want and then you can go ahead and add an app like the play store or Chrome or something like that and you can also rearrange them instead speaking of rearranging you can move the app drawer icon around a lot of skins don't allow you to do that now if your device is locked the second screen acts as a persistent display for displaying your notification badges weather conditions date and time as well as battery information you can also swipe across this screen to get to additional controls like toggles for your volume so you can mute your phone Wi-Fi so if you want to turn off your Wi-Fi you have your LED flash on the back and you can quickly launch into the camera app the second display also acts as a notification screen so when you receive notification popups they'll fill up the screen instead of blocking your main screen we have a few features under second screen settings so we have to go to our settings panel if you go down under device and select second screen we can toggle off show when main screen is on so if you turn this off this will tell you exactly what happens but this will hide it from view so it's no longer active and you can go ahead and turn it on again we also have show when the main screen is off so if you don't want this to constantly be on let's go and select lock the device you'll see that the second screen is now turned off in terms of these Android navigation Keys a fairly familiar experience here in some ways and we have some enhancements in others so of course we have our Google Now feature we're all pretty familiar with and then we have our recent apps with the overview feature which works really smoothly on this phone but we have a few enhancements here like clear all so we can close all of our Windows here or we can activate dual Window mode so we can choose the apps we want or we can use a recent recipe so I've recently opened YouTube and chrome at the same time so let's go and select that and it should open up Chrome and YouTube at the same time in split windows now for the app highlighted in blue I can go ahead and tap on this little icon to act upon it so I can swap between the top and bottom if I want I can also expand the screen out or just close it and if I tap here this will actually allow me to select a different app to open in that window dual Window mode can also be accessed from the opened app so right now if you look at the overview feature you'll see these little icons indicating that these specific apps are compatible with dual window so for example right now Instagram is not compatible with it neither is Twitter but if you scroll down here you can see Gmail is so let's go ahead and select Gmail and then we'll have to select another app to open side by side so let's go ahead and just select the native male client so there we go they're open side by side we can also prevent certain apps from being close here so all I have to do is Select these pin icons and they won't shut down if I clear all so there we go those four apps remain we can also activate dual Window mode within certain apps so right now I'm looking at an email and if I want to open up a link like so this will actually open it up in a separate window here in dual Window mode taking a look at the App Drawer there's also a lot going on here so we have apps Widgets or we can just search for whatever we want so if we go to settings we have additional things we can look at like View apps by name download date or custom so with custom we can actually rearrange these apps and folder them if we want so if we go up to edit or uninstall apps we can now move them around or folder them and if we go to folder here you can change the name change the color that sort of thing now within this editor you can see certain apps have red access indicating they can be disabled or uninstalled so for example if I click this I can disable it and for certain apps I can just uninstall them but if you can't do either you can hide certain apps from view entirely so if you want to hide certain apps here let's click hide those check and they're invisible now and of course if you want to restore them just go back to hide show apps and you can see the ones you've selected and you can unselect them now getting back to the settings panel there's a lot to take a look at here which also reveals many of the features you may not be aware of so of course we have search so we can just search for whatever we want if we want to jump to our display settings it comes up right away now we have two different views for our settings panel we can have this continuous list view or we can select tab view which gives us these little tabs to quickly jump to so under wireless networks we have airplane mod Wi-Fi and Bluetooth so all of these we can toggle on and off quickly or jump right to the settings panel there's also a ton of options and features under call there's too many to go through here but one of the things we can do is Select call reject so we can actually block certain numbers so you can add numbers here and you can also select your call reject mode so you can turn this off reject calls on the list or reject all calls you can also decline with a message so if you're receiving a phone call you can send a text message to that caller if you're busy and of course you can also add your own custom message if you prefer we have noise suppression and voice Clarity so these will bump up the voice quality of your caller we also have these two gestures hidden under here so we have answer an incoming call just by raising the phone to your ear which I find very useful you can also silence an incoming call by flipping the phone over under share and connect this is where you can turn off NFC or Android Beam or activate SmartShare beam so this works with LG devices we also have media server which works with D Equipment like an AV receiver or computer so basically this sets up a DNA server on your phone which allows you to access the content of your phone on those devices and vice versa you can also name your phone or given an image on the DLNA Network you can also select what you want shared photos videos and music or none of the above you can also receive content by checking this and you can see allowed devices or not allowed devices on the network of course we have mirrorcast which you can turn on and off and then we have LG Air Drive which allows you to use your LG account to set up a bridge between your devices and then you can share content under sound end notifications of course we have a lot going on such as your sound profiles we have vibrate only we have granular controls for all of our volume settings here we can also change the vibration strength here and then we have sound and vibration so if you want to combine them you can and then we have vibration types so we have a number of ones we can pick from you can also add new ones by customizing the tap tone under display this is where we can modify the home Touch button so if we go to here you can see we have different combinations we can pick from and modify we've seen this before on other LG devices so we have buttons we can add like notification Capture Plus Q slide and dual Window mode all we have to do is drag and drop them or rearrange them now you can only add two more above the three standard uh of course you can't take out your home button back button or your recent apps button so obviously with the notification button here if you tap that that just brings down the notification panel without having to reach up to the top to swipe down you can also quickly access your Q slide apps again from this dedicated button if you want and then we have Capture Plus which again allows you to take a screen grab and annotate it and with dual Window mode we can quickly launch into that feature but wait there's more if you go to color you can change the color here so if you want a lighter background you can pick that we can also hide the home touch buttons from certain apps so for example if we select Chrome here and now we go to Chrome you'll see that the uh touch buttons will disappear until you swipe up on home screen this is where we can turn off Smart bulletin and of course you can also select your launcher one of those launchers is easy home so this will simplify the interface make the icons larger and if we swipe all the way to the right we have quick access to our frequent contacts which you can add here under lock screen we also have quite a few features to take a look at such as shortcuts so this allows us to add app shortcuts to the lock screen I've added three already you can go ahead and add different ones if you want so if you want to add the music app or the photos app you can go ahead and select those so I have to do is click save and now if I go to the lock screen you can see I have quick access to those apps which I can swipe up on of course this only works if you have swipe to unlock so if you're using a fingerprint that won't work also lock screen we have weather animation so we can show our current weather conditions if there's any precipitation right on the lock screen so unfortunately right now nothing's going on except Sunshine we also have mini view so this allows us to quickly shrink down the screen to a thumb reachable position which allows us to resize this window or reposition it or just close it out so the way this works is if you want a right Justified screen you swipe right on the navigation keys or if you want a left justify just swipe left we also have Smart cleaning which will scan your system for files you can free up to free up storage space now there is a fingerprint scanner for the first time on an LG phone so let's go and check that out so of course there's lots of settings for security and fingerprint let's go ahead and add a fingerprint to show you the process of course I will need to enter in the pin I set up when I first entered my first fingerprint so you can see I have one added already so let's go ahead and add another I'm just going to do my left index finger here and show you the process so all I have to do is tap your finger to the sensor on the back and it coaches you through it so once you've trained all the fingerprints you want you just have to enable screen lock and you can use your fingerprint to hide or unlock content in your gallery or quick memo so now if I go to the lock screen you can see it quickly unlocks and it's very reliable and fast now as always the keys on the back do have multiple uses so when the screen is locked here if you double tap the volume down key this will quickly launch into the camera app and it's really fast so again let's just show you that quickly launches into the camera app and you can snap a photograph also when locked if you double press the volume up key this will launch into quick memo plus you can take a quick note of course there are settings for this as well so if you go to system and shortcut key you can see exactly what this is and you can turn this off and on you can also enable quick shot so if you enable this this will quickly snap a photograph as soon as you launch the camera app so if you demonstrate this here snaps a photograph right away so taking a close look at the camera app there's a lot going on here so you can see the second screen is used for some uh camera controls you can quickly jump through your modes and then that leaves the rest of the screen for additional controls and Screen real estate to see your shot of course we have the standard controls we're taking the photograph pinch in and out to zoom and you can tap anywhere to adjust exposure and focus uh we can also record our video which is available in 4k and of course it is optically stabilized and while recording video we can pinch in and out to zoom with continuous autofocusing also on that second screen you can see we have this little scroll wheel for zooming in and out now before we take a look at some of these other modes here if we go to settings you can see we have lots of options such as our screen grid if we want we have our timer on and offs that goes all the way up from 3 to 10 seconds we can also use voice control so we can say cheese smile whiskey kimchi or LG to snap a photograph so let's try one of those cheese takes the photograph we also have our resolution here so we can see our video resolution goes all the way up to 4K or full HD or standard HD which is 720p and then we have our 4x3 1x1 or 16x9 modes right here which I have selected and of course we have our rear-facing camera and there's a lot going on here as well because we have two camera lenses or two camera systems entirely uh so we have the standard lens here and then we have the wide angle lens so that get you a nice wide angle view for a group selfie or something like that or if you want to get more in the background we also have a few other tricks here so if we hold up our hand here it recognizes it if we make a fist this will give us a little countdown and snap a photograph we also get some interesting modes here such as multi view so we have three cameras to work with and we can snap a photograph from each camera and it will Stitch it together into a single image now if you want to simplify this interface you can go to simple and that strips away all these controls and you just tap on the screen to take photograph we also have snap which is a video feature basically this will take 3 second video recordings and Stitch them together automatically we also have our manual camera mode and there's a lot going on here so you can see all of your metering up top which includes your aperture shutter speed ISO level autofocusing and white balance and then you can see we have our manual controls down here such as white balance which you can scroll through through here or select auto we also have manual focus and again you can select auto if you prefer exposure ISO or aperture so you can manually adjust your aperture and then you can go ahead and lock exposure with this control down here you can also save your images in jpeg or jpeg plus raw this mode also gives us our metering point in addition to an inclinometer now one of the most exciting new features with the LG V10 is full manual mode for video now I'm recording an ultra high definition at 30 frames per second at 6 Megs per second you can see our white bounds uh you can see we're in manual focus right now in addition to other settings like ISO level and your aperture uh so of course you can man control your white balance manual focus ISO uh and I have to free up looks like exposure lock in order to get controls to my exposure here and then you can see your aperture but what's really interesting here is your microphone so you can increase your microphone sensitivity you can apply a wind noise filter you also have this directional control so if you want to increase the volume of audio sources in front of the camera or behind the camera you can go ahead and select those manually and if you look up here we have full monitoring for our audio as well we go to our settings here you can see which mode I'm in right now ultra high definition at 16x9 we have full HD at 16x9 full HD in cinema so extra wide we also have a standard HD or 720p at 16x9 or Cinema which again is extra wide we also have this little control for optical image stabilization or full active image stabilization which you can toggle on or off so if you just prefer Optical image stabilization you can see it gives you the full image but if you go for processed stabilization you can see it actually crops the image now that is not available within ultra high definition you just have Optical image stabilization you can also change your frame rate here so we have 1 2 24 or 30 frames per second and then you can change your bit rate from medium low to high now to find out what the bit rate is for each mode here so you can see medium is at 48 Megs per second if we go back here to change that bit rate to low you can see that goes to 30 Megs per second if we go to High here that jumps back to 64 Megs per second there are a few other tricks here so you can switch between the front- facing and rear facing camera by swiping up or down we also get a little pop out viewer that allows us to quickly share the last image or video with one of our apps so for example if you want to launch Instagram to post the last image this will do so ultimately the V10 is one of the most feature packed smartphones on the market today with superb cameras and hardware specs and is one of the few phones to retain full Hardware flexibility with a removable battery it's a fairly large and Hefty philm weighing in at 192 G it may not be for everybody but it remains a stand up Flagship film for those who want something a little more advanced than the LG G4 all right guys that's going to do for me in this video if you liked it please give it a thumbs up to let me know and stay tuned for comparison with the LG G5 all right guys I'll see you again in the next video\n"
