Day Two at PX: Hands-On with Far Cry 4
Hey everybody, this is Nick from Gamers Nexus, and I'm here on day two of PX at the Far Cry 4 Booth. I just had some hands-on time with the game, and I can say that there's a lot to be excited about with this title.
First of all, there's a lot of motion blur that's very polished. A lot of great lighting effects are also present in the game, which really enhances the overall experience. When you fire your gun, particle effects abound, adding an extra layer of immersion to the gameplay. The environments themselves are also destructible, which adds another level of realism to the game.
The map that I just played is a sort of Shangra La-style fortress. This means that there's a lot of scalability involved in this level. You can climb and scale the map to gain tactical advantages, making it a more dynamic and challenging experience. There are actually a couple of ways to enter the fortress when you need to reach your objective point and destroy the chopper.
I finally got the best of the chopper after taking a little while, and I found a grenade launcher in the process. However, one great way to approach this situation is to charge into it by riding an elephant into the fortress. Not only can you ride the elephant, but you also have control over its trunk. This allows you to swing its trunk at enemies or step on them with your foot to attack them.
Dismounting from the elephant, I snuck into the back after causing some initial havoc. From there, I just went to town by ducking behind structures and moving around to keep the enemies guessing. The AI in this game is actually pretty smart, so they'll summon reinforcements that will charge at you but won't simply mindlessly Blitz you.
The reinforcements will be hiding around as well, so you'll need to use the map and also guess what their actions will be in order to find a tactical advantage. Then, you can gun them down or knife them from there. I had actually played this level three or four times already, so it's definitely challenging, but there are a couple of ways to approach each battle situation for this.
This level is just one example of what Far Cry 4 has to offer, and I'm excited to see what else they have in store for us in the months ahead. Be sure to check out what else we have going on at PX, and stick around for day two – we're not done yet!
