I'll show you what it can do over there that's just a very very little tap on the throttle it just goes immediately but it's so nicely manageable so to demonstrate why I think BMW has still sort of built in this controlling part in the launch control of course because the launch control has to be the fastest 0 to 100 if I just floor it you get this burn out loud and it struggles really badly which is just full power on the rear wheels so that launch control is really made to to make the best of the circumstances
another cool thing about this competition is that the M2 sort of followed up on the 1M which was a great car mainly because it was this Frankenstein type car which you know they just took some parts from the shelves of an M3 E92 and they built this crazy one M and the M2 always sort of felt a bit soft and not as aggressive and pointy at spikey as an M4
and I think that this car especially because it now has that M3 engine and because the suspension has been tweaked it feels more like like that type of car oh man what a carwash
I don't really understand how BMW does this every time when you break traction it just it sort of happens automatically you feel what happens you feel how far you can go you can steer it with your throttle which is pretty rare to be honest
one thing I would have liked them to do with this car is I for me the seating position is a bit too high and I don't know why BMWs doing that recently I mean up until the M5 the seating position and practically every BMW was always perfect very low down and I don't know why why they stopped doing that
all right here we are at the altar man full throttle this idea till 75 7600 RPM - agent revved up - I don't know 7,000 or something like that so you can take it further my doom is ahead of Bhishma I mean you can hear that they both rid of some of the sound room March cloud or in their war with noise poor tire noise war engine sound it's just pulled together more it has a more of an extra version to it
one of the things I love about this agent is that when you really Porcia your shift that you feel wave of Thor in the next year the M2 feels like the most old car in this segment I mean I struggle to compare it to an A45 AMG by Mercedes but merit to an RS3 but it's it lacks the character that's just crazier and the same time more grown-up version of the M2
it feels like it's a real part of the ever lineup now and nice going boys I think because of that because it is Apgar now it impresses even more and it I think that - on the Autobahn at least we always felt like it it wasn't fast enough for the amount of power it had and this this is definitely faster
the MDC-t gearbox shifts really quickly especially the objects are super possible so that means see it doesn't really go to its top speed as easily let's see don't think we're all going to make it before the more all right so I don't know what's up with that Club speed but you need you need some space to do that
I really don't think it's quicker than an RS3 because I think that one was so quick to the top speed of 283 or something like that so I don't think it's quicker but I mean all other fronts this car is better than all its competition because the amount to feel that sits in this chassis in this car in this engine in the steering I mean it trumps all the competition by miles
it is I think the most suave and most sort of stylish way to drive a car in this segment and it's not it's not as shouty as in a 45 you know with a big spoiler and stuff like that but it performs better in my opinion it sounds better it drives better it just I think this car lives up to the expectation we had when the first M2 came out and I know that expectations were really high for that car so maybe that's not really fair but I think this car has really delivered on that promise and that makes me very happy
obviously alrighty well not that much fun to have here in that Island so I'm going to end this review you can subscribe by clicking the big button right here you can check out this PV review often RS 3 you can check out this playlist of POV reviews and you can check us out on social media just search for article below
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enof course because this is a competition we've got a lot of flack details about nice going boys if I just floor it what's up ladies and gentlemen and welcome to this POV review by out at opinel my name is Max and today we've got the all-new BMW m2 competition and it's a car that we've been looking forward to ever since they announced it because with the regular m2 there has always been something missing I have the feeling it was it wasn't really a full-blown em car and that is mainly because they they try to keep it cheap so I guess that's why there are a few things you didn't really get like a full-blown and engine like more adjustability inside like proper em seats and now it seems like BMW thought okay well let's go for it and let's give the people the full monty and well this car replaces the old m2 so you can only get an m2 competition now and they also did a small facelift so we've got a new front ant with new kidney grille which is a little bit more aggressive a little bit more angular as well of course because this is a competition we've got a lot of black details like the grille we've got a new front bumper with that super cool front lip which I think just makes the front of this car I think it looks really really good and this is you know they just needed a lot more space because it has the radiator the multiple radiators of an m3 slash and for so that's why they needed a lot more air to go in there and these three holes are also there to direct air into the radiators we've got new wheels competition wheels 19-inch with a couple of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires which are quite slippery as you can see it is very slippery out today so it is a challenge to get the power down we've got the upgraded M Sport brakes with the grey caliper that is how you can recognize them and I read in a couple of refused the sender breaks sort of struggle after a while so definitely go for those I'm sport brakes Silverstone gray I think it's the color of service on silvers no Silverstone gray I think very cool it's a very light gray and we've got proper em mirrors as well the regular m2 didn't have these so another reason why it didn't really feel like a proper em car we've got an m2 competition badge in black with competition and I'm support exhaust the regular m2 already had some or a lot of parts from the m3 chassis including the suspension and dampers that's also why the m2 is so wide and so chunky because they needed space to fit those parts of a much larger car this competition compared to the m2 also has had the rubber bushes replaced by uni-balls on the multi-link rear and what else got a little side scuttle thing in black with m2 written on it as well so check out the engine because this of course is the biggest change there it is the S 55 3 litre inline-six twin-turbo engine from the m3 and m4 which you know what a great idea by BMW it was actually they didn't really have a choice because the n55 so the m2 engine which was also in the m135i which we have is a single turbo inline 6 and it was killed off because of the new emission standards and this engine does have a nano X filter so this can pass the new emission tests so it was either kill off DM 2 altogether or shoehorn this unit in here you also get the carbon fiber strut brace at the front the V brace which looks really cool and well it has all sorts of reinforcements mostly taken from the m3 and m4 to make sure that it's even I don't know taller and even better handling so as I said you know this is a full-blown M engine and that means that it now is a full-blown M car this color is called hockenheim silver really really cool it's sort of a very very very light gray which looks awesome in combination with those black details on the inside we've got proper M seats so these are the seats from the m3 with an m2 badge which lights up at night we've got M seat belts as well with the striping on there which is pretty cool we've got a little bit of Alcantara on the side we've got red stitching or orange stitching actually which also looks good and we've got a proper M wheel with M stitching and this is different as well so it's called so in the regular m2 this just had a little toggle switch to choose between Eco Comfort Sport Sport+ and it didn't have this adjustability so now we can set the powertrain the drivetrain and the steering to comfort sport or Sport+ and you can also adjust the fierceness of the mdc-t gearbox with this one so we don't get a manual in the netherlands but i know that in the UK for instance you can get a manual so i don't know why we don't get one but a manual would be awesome as well proper hand brake as well and we've got the new start button the red one we saw in the m5 and we've got M 1 and M 2 buttons as well now which mmm - also didn't have we've got a new instrument cluster with the new fault we saw in the m5 as well and just analog dials nice I like them I like them much better than the stupid digital stuff all right so we'll get the sport displays on the screen so you can watch how much horsepower I use and well we'll just select m1 yep so that's sequential for the gearbox now and comfort for the steering Sport+ for the drivetrain and we don't have you can see that there's a button missing here which is for the suspension so the m2 still has passive dampers so not adjustable which I kind of like because it's still sort of that simplicity that they wanted with the regular m2 as well you know it's a no-nonsense car engine at the front drive at the rear it's a it's a six-cylinder it's just big agent small car rear drive no-nonsense I love it it's a real driver's car setup well we're we're at the straight ear so I'll try to do a launch control I think the tarmac is a little bit drier here because the Sun is on it yeah a little bit so we'll go for m2 which I have set to DSC off which you need for launch control so just stop it foot on the brake full throttle 3,000 rpm struggles a bit but I do feel like it's still sort of managing the power it does 0 to 100 in 4.2 seconds if you have some dry roads and it is 410 horsepower and 550 new to meters and that's 21 down in horsepower from the m3 but it does have the same amount of Newton either so it's it's very torquey it's very it has that character of the m3 that mid-range torque mountains of it which is just one of the best feelings you get in an m3 or an m4 and I'm really glad that they managed to you know transfer that to the m2 because let's be honest the m2 was a great car it's it drives really well it handles really well the balance is great it feels really nimble but it never felt like a full-blown em car and that was mainly because of that engine didn't feel that powerful it felt a bit asthmatic especially at higher speeds we also compared it to an m240 eye which has more torque than the m2 and the m240 I was nearly as quick in almost all situations so I don't think that they set the m2 apart well enough from the regular lineup or from the a performance lineup and I think that with this one you just feel that it's much more aggressive the drive straight is much more aggressive and you still have that great chassis which to have tweaked even more it's stiffer but it still has that that really well composed balance and feeling of you know you're in control you can do whatever you want with it and you will feel when you are going too far it will let you know so we'll take it down this road towards the old turbine and I'll show you what it can do over there that's just a very very little tap on the throttle it just goes immediately but it's so nicely manageable so to demonstrate why I think BMW has still sort of built in this controlling part in the launch control of course because the launch control has to be the fastest 0 to 100 if I just floor it you get this burn out loud and it struggles really badly which is just full power on the rear
