**A Jaguar's Surprising Saga**
As I sat in my trusty old Jaguar, I couldn't help but think that maybe this wasn't going to be the day for repairs. The airbag warning light had been flashing on and off, and I was starting to worry about what might have caused it. "I don't know if it's me jiggling the steering wheel or something," I muttered to myself, trying to shake off the feeling of unease.
After a few moments of tinkering, I realized that it wasn't the steering wheel at all - it was actually a loose connection in the seat itself that was causing the problem. "Fingers crossed it's just a simple fix like that," I said aloud, hoping that the repair wouldn't be more complicated than expected.
As I continued to work on my car, I found myself getting into various conversations with... well, I wasn't quite sure what I was talking to! There seemed to be some sort of fondling going on nearby, but it wasn't until I noticed a little bump for the bolts that I realized where I was. "I think this must have been holding something in place," I mused.
But as I looked closer, I saw that the rubber pieces had broken, and the whole thing needed to be reattached. "Not ideal," I said to myself, but at least it wasn't a huge repair job after all. As I moved on to check the underside of my car, I was greeted by a surprise: a seepage going on from up top that seemed to indicate some sort of leak.
"Nothing like a little British charm, is there?" I chuckled, thinking about how not leaking was often a sign of an empty engine. And indeed, as I looked closer at the front main seal, I could see that it had developed a rather significant tear - big job ahead!
But first things first: let's take a look at the brakes. "Brakes are looking good," I said to myself, relieved that they seemed intact despite some modifications to the springs and... ah, what was that peculiar pink foam doing? "Isolator material, apparently!" I read on the side of the car.
As I continued my inspection, I discovered not one but two other issues: modified springs that were affecting the stance of the car, and those aforementioned oversized tips that seemed to be more compensation than anything else. "I think I'll stick with stock," I decided, imagining a normal-sized tip would do just fine.
The engine itself was dry, which was a relief - no worrying about overheating engines here! And despite the various issues, it seemed like everything else was in working order. Well, almost: I did notice that my tips were "heinous" and needed to be replaced with something more tasteful. But that's a story for another time.
**The Aftermath**
As I settled back into my seat (now securely fastened, of course), I couldn't help but think about all the repairs that had been done. Not exactly a never-ending saga, but definitely not as simple as I'd initially thought! Still, with some TLC and maybe a few new parts, this trusty old Jaguar should be running smoothly in no time.
And now, thanks to my wonderful friend who lent me their lift truck (and a lot of patience), I've got all the tools I need to tackle even more projects. Well, except for one thing... "I'll leave it in there," I said with a chuckle, deciding to enjoy dinner without worrying about picking up the tab through the weekend.
Who knows what other surprises this trusty old car will have in store?
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enweard hello yes an R supercharged so it's got that Ric Flair under the hood wo these are so cool they really are I love them welcome to hub's garage the dumbest Automotive channel in all of YouTube and how the mighty have fallen in the case of this spefic specific Jaguar a 2003 XKR that I bought for only $6,000 even though it has a clean history report only $70,000 miles on it and it is the supercharged XKR but uh you can see it has been customized to put it politely but I think I can unpimp this ride somewhat reasonably to where it can look sort of like its former glory it's in really nice shape otherwise but uh what isn't in nice shape is Jaguar as a company they are a total mess right now and they've actually taken a year off of building cars more or less yeah Jaguar is far from its Glory Days with a beautiful e type Jag and the xjs that replaced it and the XJ sedans that were beautiful as well eventually the company was sold off into Ford and well did okay under Forge tutelage and then was sold again and had sort of a refresh with a really cool redesign of all their cars the redesigned XJ about 15 years ago was stunning amazing interior 500 horsepower super charged V8 and the ftype was a really cool two- seat convertible as well William Shatner was selling one of those at Barrett Jackson that's where I interviewed him I did the Ricon Spock death to him and collapsed Star Trek super fans so that was a very big deal for me but they don't make the SJ anymore they don't make the ftype anymore 550 Horsepower Supercharged V8 in a little two- seat sports car they don't make anything anymore the only car they were selling was their I think fpce and high Pace uh there's a small SU V and that's it Jaguar is one of the only companies I think to say they're going all electric and then actually stick to that plan every other automaker has sort of pulled back on their plans delayed them or canceled them entirely but Jaguar uh stuck to their guns and they are failing miserably when it comes to Market day supply the Jaguar whatever they're still selling has one of the biggest at one point it was over 300 days which means they have enough cars on the lot to to fulfill 300 days worth of sales and I guess that's why Jaguar entirely decided Well let's just sort of quit making cars retool everything and start fresh next year with an all new electric lineup and I bet you can imagine how that's going to go given the limited buyer pool for electric cars right now all the hurdles they still have to overcome and jaguar as a brand itself boy they've Fallen really hard since 2003 sort of like this poor thing but before we get into things I'd like I'd like to thank General Ty for sponsoring today's video I've had a set of their product line no tears no variations so don't miss out on this amazing offer thanks again to General Ty for sponsoring today's video so one thing Jaguar had going for it was this Heritage with the brand and the prestige that came with it but quality in recent decades with their cars has been absolutely atrocious leading to horrific depreciation their supercharged V6 was a known issue that they really didn't do much about timing chain failures Galore which they were dealing with even back in 2003 they had the nicasil liner issue which in 2003 was solved and they had timing chain problems but by 2003 I think that was less of an issue as well so this is a great year for an XKR and the paint is actually really nice it's just covered in dust this is sort of spider Webby stuff right here the big problem is somebody went stance Nation on this thing and the aftermarket wheels I don't think look horrendous with some Jaguar wheel caps I think they will look better uh but uh The Stance it is just way way too low way too boy racer and we need to get it back up off the ground a dealer took this on trade I think it was a local Chevy dealer and uh they couldn't sell it because of the stands Nation it was at their wholesale Auction four weeks no takers until I finally bought it for only $6,000 which might make it the cheapest XKR in the USA certainly one with a clean title in under 100,000 Mi and you can see other than the sansation and the dust it does look in really good shape I forgot to point out the uh the boy racer exhaust as well these pipes just sort of press on they get crooked so uh yeah that's definitely a thing but the interior is really really nice A little bit of wear on the bolster but otherwise in very nice shape the back seats they're good for little kids or people with no legs and look at all the wood beautiful wood all in great shape the top works and it's not torn up and the engine actually looks pretty dang tidy yeah 375 Horsepower Supercharged V8 but the boy racer theme continues they put on an aftermarket uh cold air intake that just looks atrocious but overall great power for the time the cars are reasonably serviceable this is the Ford era of Jaguar so it is not that bad in that department and the looks of it it does look really really good my first thought was to wrap it in bright green and strap some missiles to it you know to make it look like the James Bond car from the last Pierce broen film since I do have the Vanquish these were the two duking it out outside of the Ice Hotel so it's kind of fun in that sense both of them massively depreciated that you know 250 $50,000 car that I bought for $40,000 and yeah this $6,000 on something that was 60 or $70,000 new so depreciation Heroes right here a car that makes you look like a baller on a budget and I feel like it is one that you could keep going relatively reasonably where you won't get absolutely annihilated but it does have a few issues so we will take it up to the car Wizards I love the Bings and bongs of Jags of this era so you hear that little bit of a belt squeak on Startup no big deal and just an Ever So slight squeak from the belt hopefully it's not uh like full supercharger reu or something like that cursing myself there there we go okay we'll put the top up just for noise purposes maybe there we go all right here we go this of that supercharger one pretty darn fast these are really fun cars and that intake it probably does help that supercharger noise a little bit I'll give it that so yeah everything good powertrain Dy train there you see this uh digital clock well it is a navigation screen so I can switch that on and it does kind of still work eventually but I have cold air heated seats a nice stereo from Alpine a very cushy driver's seat and I do got to say whatever coilovers are on this thing uh yeah it's much harsher than stock but it's not bone jarringly like atrociously awful to drive even slam to the ground like this I turned the traction control off because it kicks on way too early and robs of all the power there we go man great cars I can't believe I can buy an XKR for $6,000 that's this nice it's ridiculous but maybe I'm one of the few people that's still into Jags like this I had that e type years ago and prices have just tanked on those as well so maybe this Kitty has just lost all of its teeth when it comes to Brand perception and I'm just one of those old school nostalgic OD balls I don't know I think the wizard likes these though wizard hello yes an R supercharged so it's got that Ric Flair under the hood woo woo these are so cool they really are I love them I bought it for only $6,000 it has 72,000 miles clean title No Stories the big problem is well just what you're looking at here The Stance like it looks like it's been in an accident or something it looks terrible somebody made a style choice and clearly it was the wrong choice see hoping you can make that right what are you uh working on over here well thinking about choices you were just at Barrett Jackson standing next to William shat all right Captain James D he's been to space many times well once for real I'm just worried you brought home some radio activity I got an actual gerer counter here well I love that the uh interior is back from the Ferrari it is just gorgeous but what that's not going in me is it well unless you want it to no no thank you it looks like the Ghostbusters trap thing let's check you out here okay all right you're getting kind of low there why is your crotch radioactive whoa what well Bill Shatner wasn't even close to that I I got questions I don't understand maybe that explains the sudden growth lately iose I don't anyway anyway U yeah the interior on this looks so so nice yeah uh the dash was annihilated before the apster guy is legally out of business but he still does work for you on the side for yeah out of his garage and when he actually quits doing work it'll be a very very sad day because he did all this all these pieces and reglued the dash back in that was just falling apart for like a little over a th000 bucks which is such a deal it really is it did great work too yep and it looks totally OEM the real attention I mean the stitching is probably straighter than how the Italians did it from the factory you know probably is yeah so Daniel Sun can put that all back together right yep soon as he comes in on Monday he's going to jump right in and I picked up the FJ Cruiser yesterday and uh had a little surprise on your test drive right yeah actually we had to put a new fan fan clutch and a fan shroud I went and Road tested it and was coming back and it sounded like a gun went off poow actually have the leftovers if you want to see them yeah so there's the clutch and it was completely locked up I can't even turn it wow and that's that's all the pieces of the that is a massive explosion wow yeah it had a massive uh something going on there so I've spent $44,000 on that FJ Cruiser since buying for six I feel like whoever owned it before it was one owner they just did the bare minimum to get it to the Finish Line knew exactly when to trade it in and then I buy it and so yeah how much more is the fan and all that stuff do I owe you uh don't worry about it you did a favor for me not too long ago so we'll call it even well wasn't that's that's not why I'm radioactive it's uh interesting okay um I forgot what was the F what was the favor I did for you don't it wasn't down there the faor favor was a shout out for that new CH oh right right yeah yeah yeah the favor has nothing to do with me being re radioactive it had to do with well a new radioactively big channel for Wizard yes yes can you believe that can you believe that which uh yeah I'll have it linked again below app Wizard's new paranormal Channel but why did the steering will have to come out of my pace car well I'm checking for the question of why don't the turn signals work found the relays the fuses they all have power the wiring is there also the Flasher there I'd wonder if they just deleted it or something but it's all there only thing I have left to check is the multi-function switch to remove this clock spring and see if there's power or did they disconnect it back there it should work by All rights but it's not okay well that was one of the things on the list and then I guess an AC compressor is probably on the way mhm and the oxygen sensor which is not doing much because it has no cap so no who knows since GM did all this work with the pace car they made it a wide body with big hips to fit The Wider tires and so many other things and since it's from GM they could program do whatever the heck they want so you're kind of yeah it's a mystery it is it's a mystery if I don't find anything any answers right there at the steering wheel I'm probably just going to stop we're just going to consider it that somehow they deleted it okay I like your O Asian Bob sub and working on the police car mhm some citrons and this is still another no engine block back yeah waiting on the machine shop he's I think you said he's waiting on piston rings piston rings yes and then he has to put it all back together so waiting waiting waiting the new world that we live in right postco yes and hopefully Daniel son and you remember how to put all this back together since it's been so long right yeah I'm sure he will he's got everything in categories and speaking of things you've forgotten a Rena f 1982 that's Ur easy there yeah Euro Asian Bob strikes again huh Euro Asian with the rag top 63,000 miles so has it been sitting for a long time is that just draining it the gas it looks like a he he's stinky it's bad very very stinky oh and there's the the fuel level sender huh I don't float I bet it doesn't even work anymore yeah it seized up it petrified mhm well everything is working fine on the Jaguar uh the only light that comes on is the airbag sort of intermittently when you first start it up kind of when you play around the steering wheel and then it's on all the time once you start driving it for a while uh but the big issue is the yeah the lowered part of it even though it does ride pretty good considering how slammed it is I can't live with that there's just no way it's it's hideous it's disgusting it really is we'll get it see if if it's it adjustable whatever it is that they put in there is it adjustable we'll see if we can get that or put the stock stuff back on it right well under the hood though does look very very tidy I know you've been around these Jags quite a bit you've had a few yourself right you had an R XJR right yes so it should look like home huh mhm there's why the supercharg is so loud right the intake mhm 375 horses and I really like these engines it's super they're just awesome yep and now Jaguar has sort of quit making cars they're taking a break from making cars and when they come back it will be fully electric fully electric that's the Future No ftype No XJ just some crossovers right now that they need to get through and then electric cars no more of those no no more of those and they're really not awful awful to work on right no they're not terrible well I'd like to see what's going on with the airbag system and I guess we could put it on the lift and see what what the hell they did under here yeah sounds good it's nice and low these menack lifts you'll have to put in the uh low inserts yeah well your toe hasn't recovered yet huh it's getting there if I put shoes and socks on it really agitates it but it's getting there bummer well speaking of agitated the side airbag impact status what it is not happy with the readings from the airbag so if I lift this up which is making weird noises but you see it's right it says airbag in the seat itself airag in here so it's not me jiggling the steering wheel it's me when I'm jiggling in the seat could be a connector down below it's just coming loose we have to check it out but okay hopefully something simple like that fingers crossed is just a loose connection and I'm not reul drink that seat to get to an airbag or something right well let's get it on the lift okay well I hope you don't have any bills for me to pay because I left my wallet up in the J I can't reach it actually I don't today oh nice well you you're giving a little fondle what is that doing here I don't know I think it was holding this in cooler on like this one is okay what's this oh that's normal for that to be there h a little bump for the bolts for the bolt yeah I see but this wouldn't have been a factory clamp to hold this on I imagine right no I think the little rubber pieces have broken right here ah little yeah you can see them over here I see okay well so it needs to be reamped so that doesn't suddenly fall off when I'm driving down the road that would be nice yeah we could probably get the correct little uh mounting pads there okay here we go underneath an old British car um it's a not bad no it's got a little bit of a seepage going on but nothing but it's British if it's not leaking it's empty that's right this is good yes especially for Land Rovers nothing that looks like it would really drip on the ground or very seldom I suppose huh there's a little bit going on there from up top maybe a valve cover gasket or something I don't know yeah huh front main seal for sure there right so that's a big old tear down for yeah I a big leak I don't think I would mess with it right now okay it's not worth it's not a huge leak brakes look good so it looks like they got some different Springs and if you look way at the top there's like some squished foam stick pooching out pooching out okay okay all right like this uh all right that's that's normal on Jags it's like a pink foam and just collapses it's like an isolator how much buffer or height does that take away or add like 3/4 of an inch or an inch it's quite a lot actually both disintegrate it loses quite a lot wow so that's what's happened here yeah cuz another in and it would probably look just fine we could try just putting the insulators on only and see how it sits yeah all right transmission is nice and dry yeah how are my brakes looking oh they say rmbo on it that's pretty cool yeah they got nice thick brakes on them that's good that's good good good all right stock exhaust yes well you didn't notice going to the very back that's one other thing I wanted to have you take a look at um my tips are as Doug deir would say heinous these aftermarket tips oh those are terrible they you could put in a normal stock one that looks like it should be there yes please this aftermarket the muffler is okay I suppose but yeah these uh oversized tips where someone might be compensating so they want a big tips on their Jag you know they put just the tips on right yeah so any old regular size tip would be fine yeah be fine okay and then the Springs here are definitely modified but the back sits a lot better than the front so I think you're on to something with the stance being weird in the front mhm these see here's this foam I'm talking about these haven't collapsed yet but it's a spring sponge it's almost like a sponge interesting you see it's like an inch thick mhm and the same as up there it's collapsed okay so that's probably all it needs well very good but the brakes back here I can see them they're like half gone but they're still good all right well I could go totally insane with all the leaks but with a Jaguar that's sort of a never ending Saga yeah and it's not leaking all that much so all right reattach this please get your stance correct in the front please see if we can fix the airbag that'd be great no we'll change and we'll change yes not bad for a $6,000 Jaguar not bad at all yeah I don't have to worry about a Jaguar but now Wizard's gerer counter has to me worried about something else anyway thank you so much for watching oh now I can get my wallet out of the Jag actually I'll leave it in there so that way I don't have to pay for dinner through the weekend somebody else has to pick up the tab that is a good ideaweard hello yes an R supercharged so it's got that Ric Flair under the hood wo these are so cool they really are I love them welcome to hub's garage the dumbest Automotive channel in all radioactive it's uh interesting okay um I forgot what was the F what was the favor I did for you don't it wasn't down there the faor favor was a shout out for that new CH oh right right yeah yeah yeah the favor has nothing to do with me being re radioactive it had to do with well a new radioactively big channel for Wizard yes yes can you believe that can you believe that which uh yeah I'll have it linked again below app Wizard's new paranormal Channel but why did the steering will have to come out of my pace car well I'm checking for the question of why don't the turn signals work found the relays the fuses they all have power the wiring is there also the Flasher there I'd wonder if they just deleted it or something but it's all there only thing I have left to check is the multi-function switch to remove this clock spring and see if there's power or did they disconnect it back there it should work by All rights but it's not okay well that was one of the things on the list and then I guess an AC compressor is probably on the way mhm and the oxygen sensor which is not doing much because it has no cap so no who knows since GM did all this work with the pace car they made it a wide body with big hips to fit The Wider tires and so many other things and since it's from GM they could program do whatever the heck they want so you're kind of yeah it's a mystery it is it's a mystery if I don't find anything any answers right there at the steering wheel I'm probably just going to stop we're just going to consider it that somehow they deleted it okay I like your O Asian Bob sub and working on the police car mhm some citrons and this is still another no engine block back yeah waiting on the machine shop he's I think you said he's waiting on piston rings piston rings yes and then he has to put it all back together so waiting waiting waiting the new world that we live in right postco yes and hopefully Daniel son and you remember how to put all this back together since it's been so long right yeah I'm sure he will he's got everything in categories and speaking of things you've forgotten a Rena f 1982 that's Ur easy there yeah Euro Asian Bob strikes again huh Euro Asian with the rag top 63,000 miles so has it been sitting for a long time is that just draining it the gas it looks like a he he's stinky it's bad very very stinky oh and there's the the fuel level sender huh I don't float I bet it doesn't even work anymore yeah it seized up it petrified mhm well everything is working fine on the Jaguar uh the only light that comes on is the airbag sort of intermittently when you first start it up kind of when you play around the steering wheel and then it's on all the time once you start driving it for a while uh but the big issue is the yeah the lowered part of it even though it does ride pretty good considering how slammed it is I can't live with that there's just no way it's it's hideous it's disgusting it really is we'll get it see if if it's it adjustable whatever it is that they put in there is it adjustable we'll see if we can get that or put the stock stuff back on it right well under the hood though does look very very tidy I know you've been around these Jags quite a bit you've had a few yourself right you had an R XJR right yes so it should look like home huh mhm there's why the supercharg is so loud right the intake mhm 375 horses and I really like these engines it's super they're just awesome yep and now Jaguar has sort of quit making cars they're taking a break from making cars and when they come back it will be fully electric fully electric that's the Future No ftype No XJ just some crossovers right now that they need to get through and then electric cars no more of those no no more of those and they're really not awful awful to work on right no they're not terrible well I'd like to see what's going on with the airbag system and I guess we could put it on the lift and see what what the hell they did under here yeah sounds good it's nice and low these menack lifts you'll have to put in the uh low inserts yeah well your toe hasn't recovered yet huh it's getting there if I put shoes and socks on it really agitates it but it's getting there bummer well speaking of agitated the side airbag impact status what it is not happy with the readings from the airbag so if I lift this up which is making weird noises but you see it's right it says airbag in the seat itself airag in here so it's not me jiggling the steering wheel it's me when I'm jiggling in the seat could be a connector down below it's just coming loose we have to check it out but okay hopefully something simple like that fingers crossed is just a loose connection and I'm not reul drink that seat to get to an airbag or something right well let's get it on the lift okay well I hope you don't have any bills for me to pay because I left my wallet up in the J I can't reach it actually I don't today oh nice well you you're giving a little fondle what is that doing here I don't know I think it was holding this in cooler on like this one is okay what's this oh that's normal for that to be there h a little bump for the bolts for the bolt yeah I see but this wouldn't have been a factory clamp to hold this on I imagine right no I think the little rubber pieces have broken right here ah little yeah you can see them over here I see okay well so it needs to be reamped so that doesn't suddenly fall off when I'm driving down the road that would be nice yeah we could probably get the correct little uh mounting pads there okay here we go underneath an old British car um it's a not bad no it's got a little bit of a seepage going on but nothing but it's British if it's not leaking it's empty that's right this is good yes especially for Land Rovers nothing that looks like it would really drip on the ground or very seldom I suppose huh there's a little bit going on there from up top maybe a valve cover gasket or something I don't know yeah huh front main seal for sure there right so that's a big old tear down for yeah I a big leak I don't think I would mess with it right now okay it's not worth it's not a huge leak brakes look good so it looks like they got some different Springs and if you look way at the top there's like some squished foam stick pooching out pooching out okay okay all right like this uh all right that's that's normal on Jags it's like a pink foam and just collapses it's like an isolator how much buffer or height does that take away or add like 3/4 of an inch or an inch it's quite a lot actually both disintegrate it loses quite a lot wow so that's what's happened here yeah cuz another in and it would probably look just fine we could try just putting the insulators on only and see how it sits yeah all right transmission is nice and dry yeah how are my brakes looking oh they say rmbo on it that's pretty cool yeah they got nice thick brakes on them that's good that's good good good all right stock exhaust yes well you didn't notice going to the very back that's one other thing I wanted to have you take a look at um my tips are as Doug deir would say heinous these aftermarket tips oh those are terrible they you could put in a normal stock one that looks like it should be there yes please this aftermarket the muffler is okay I suppose but yeah these uh oversized tips where someone might be compensating so they want a big tips on their Jag you know they put just the tips on right yeah so any old regular size tip would be fine yeah be fine okay and then the Springs here are definitely modified but the back sits a lot better than the front so I think you're on to something with the stance being weird in the front mhm these see here's this foam I'm talking about these haven't collapsed yet but it's a spring sponge it's almost like a sponge interesting you see it's like an inch thick mhm and the same as up there it's collapsed okay so that's probably all it needs well very good but the brakes back here I can see them they're like half gone but they're still good all right well I could go totally insane with all the leaks but with a Jaguar that's sort of a never ending Saga yeah and it's not leaking all that much so all right reattach this please get your stance correct in the front please see if we can fix the airbag that'd be great no we'll change and we'll change yes not bad for a $6,000 Jaguar not bad at all yeah I don't have to worry about a Jaguar but now Wizard's gerer counter has to me worried about something else anyway thank you so much for watching oh now I can get my wallet out of the Jag actually I'll leave it in there so that way I don't have to pay for dinner through the weekend somebody else has to pick up the tab that is a good idea\n"
