The best movies and shows new on streaming services February 2021 _ Play_Pause

**Streaming Services to Watch in February**

Disney+ is set to release its first five seasons on February 19th, making it a definite play for this month's streaming marathon. This is a historic moment for Disney+, as no one has ever seen their entire library of content released at once before. For those who are new to Disney+, this is a great opportunity to catch up on some of the most popular shows.

Another service that is definitely worth checking out in February is Hulu, which will be releasing two highly anticipated movies. The first movie is "Nomadland," starring Frances McDormand, and it has already garnered significant Oscar buzz. McDormand plays a woman who sells her home and all her belongings to live life on the road, learning what's truly important as she travels. This film is sure to be a standout in terms of acting performances, with McDormand delivering another predictably excellent performance. With its strong cast and thought-provoking themes, "Nomadland" has all the makings of an Oscar contender.

In addition to "Nomadland," Hulu will also be releasing "The United States vs. Billie Holiday," a biographical drama directed by Lee Daniels that tells the true story of jazz legend Billie Holiday's life and struggles with racism and oppression. This film is particularly relevant in February, as it celebrates Black History Month. With its powerful themes and impressive cast, including Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield, "The United States vs. Billie Holiday" is sure to be a highlight of Hulu's releases this month.

Hulu also offers live TV streaming services that provide an excellent way to watch the Super Bowl on February 7th. For those who want to cut the cord or don't have access to traditional cable or satellite television, Hulu's live TV service provides a reliable and affordable alternative for major sports events like the Super Bowl.

**HBO Max**

Although HBO hasn't announced its full slate of releases for February yet, there are a few titles that are worth keeping an eye out for. One highly anticipated film is "Judas and the Black Messiah," which tells the true story of Fred Hampton, chairman of the Black Panther Party, and his assassination by the FBI. The film stars Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield and explores themes of racism, oppression, and survival. As a powerful drama that sheds light on an important chapter in American history, "Judas and the Black Messiah" is sure to be a standout release for HBO Max.

HBO also has several other titles available on its platform, including some excellent original series. One notable title is "Tiger," a two-part documentary series about the life of Tiger Woods. As a must-see for golf fans and anyone interested in sports, "Tiger" offers an intimate look at one of the most iconic athletes of our time.

**Other Streaming Services**

Finally, there are a few other streaming services that offer some great options this month. Amazon Prime Video is worth considering, even if you don't have a subscription to the full service, thanks to its inclusion with Prime membership. However, Amazon's own original series and content may not be enough to keep viewers engaged.

Paramount+ was recently announced as a new streaming service that will launch in March, but it doesn't offer anything significant this month. CBS All Access is another streaming service that may not be worth the cost of subscription, especially since its programming lineup is relatively thin compared to other services like Hulu and HBO Max.

Overall, February offers some exciting options for streaming enthusiasts looking to catch up on popular shows or explore new titles. Whether you're a fan of Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, CBS All Access, or Peacock, there's something for everyone this month.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enfebruary 2021 is here and along with it a vast list of new big screen quality streaming content to enjoy from the comfort of your couch or bed or wherever you like to new series that covers what you should watch this month and what you might not want to bother with should you even consider pausing some of your streaming subscriptions to save some money i'm going to let you know and look we've spent a lot of time covering the hottest tvs you can buy now let's take a moment to talk about the best content to watch on those tvs and whether you'll get it in 4k hdr dolby vision dolby atmos all of that i aim to save you time and money so let's get right into it real quick though do you have a favorite streaming tv show or movie that you like to show off your new that way those numbers let us know if we should continue with this series for you as always i thank you now let's do this i'm going to start with netflix which might not surprise you i mean biggest streaming service in the game right but what might surprise you is that it is actually kind of a slow month for netflix especially compared to the other streaming services i'm going to talk about in a moment but there is one especially good movie on the way that i don't think you're going to want to miss that would be the highly anticipated malcolm and marie which many think has big oscar potential malcolm emery follows a movie director and his girlfriend whose relationship is tested over the course of a night as they wait to hear critics responses to his latest film this netflix original stars zendaya who you may know from hbo's euphoria and the latest spider-man franchise along with john david washington best known for his work in tenet and black clansmen i'm telling you this movie looks beautiful from what i've seen so far it's in black and white which will look gorgeous on a high contrast tv and since it's a new netflix production it should be in 4k and hdr as well and speaking of production this movie was made from like financing to final edit entirely during the pandemic which i personally find fascinating as the trailer points out this is not a love story it's a story about love and i can just feel the heartstrings getting tugged already so for this movie alone and also because it's netflix and because netflix is rolling its new shuffle play feature out in the us this month i'm gonna say netflix is a play for this month okay everybody let's take it from the top so if netflix is having a slow month disney plus is having a very strong one and if we're talking disney plus we have to talk about one division one division is the first new marvel cinematic universe project since 2019 spider-man far from home and follows avengers teammates wanda maximoff aka scarlet witch and vision in a weird time twisted version of idyllic suburban life that draws heavily from classic sitcoms now while its first three episodes rolled out in january disney will be releasing new episodes each friday so while you can binge a little you will eventually be forced into watching each episode as it comes out and honestly i think it's better that way with this show there is so much going on with this show that you're going to want to re-watch episodes not just for all the easter eggs hidden inside but because the show is so mysterious you're going to want to try and catch things you may have missed the first time to try and figure out what's going on really this show kind of reminds me of lost where sometimes you're left puzzled and trying to anticipate what exactly is going on are they dead are they living in a dream world how did they get here honestly it's a ridiculously fun and great water cooler show you know like a virtual water cooler obviously the other reason to keep disney plus around in february is the muppet show yeah i'm talking about the old school jim henson tv show that aired on live tv back in the late 70s and early 80s i know a lot of you younger folks in our audience may only be vaguely familiar with the show but i gotta tell you it's historic it's like a tv time capsule you have got to see this show reminds us of a weird time when a-list stars would go on a variety show with muppets and perform in skits and sing i mean i'm talking about mark hamill at the peak of his star wars fame elton john diana ross steve martin alice cooper you know now that i think about it it's kind of like saturday night live but more family friendly and you know muppets anyway all five seasons will arrive on disney plus february 19 and that's never been done before so for me disney plus is a definite play this month next up is hulu which has two new movies coming out both of which are getting some serious oscar buzz the first is nomad land featuring frances mcdormand in her totally predictable annual oscar-worthy performance seriously she does this like every year anyway mcdorman who you know from fargo almost famous in three billboards outside ebbing missouri plays a woman who sells her home and all her stuff so she can live life on the road which explains the title i suppose anyway along the journey she learns about what's really important in life because of course she does now that may seem like a pretty obvious plotline but if anybody can sell it it's frances mcdormand and like i said this has oscar nominations written all over it nomadland will premiere on hulu the same day it hits theaters another film hitting hulu this month and i think it's a great piece to celebrate black history month is the united states versus billie holiday now i'll admit i have a big personal interest in this one because i'm a big jazz history buff but let me tell you billy holiday lived a crazy life and played with some of the most amazing american musicians ever during a really tumultuous time in american history so i'm not surprised that this again has all kinds of oscar buzz going on it's directed by lee daniels who also directed precious and the butler so i think this is going to be a solid watch and aside from those two movies hulu's live tv streaming service provides a great way to watch the super bowl on february 7th so hulu this month is a definite play next up is hbo max and while as i'm recording this hbo hasn't announced what's coming in february yet i do know of a few gems to look out for one of them is judas and the black messiah a movie about the betrayal and assassination of fred hampton chairman of the black panther party starring daniel kaluya and lakeith stanfield judas and the black messiah tells the true story of how chairman fred hampton was 21 years old when he was assassinated by the fbi who coerced a petty criminal named william o'neill to help them silence him and the black panther party but they could not kill fred hampton's legacy and 50 years later his words still echo louder than ever it's another great film to celebrate black history month and extremely relevant given what's going on in the world right now the film will premiere in theaters and on hbo max february 12 but it will only run on hbo max for 31 days so you'll want to get that in also hbo's tiger which follows the roller coaster life of tiger woods and i think that is a must-see two-part series as well hbo max also just started doing 4k hdr with some of its newer stuff so i'm hopeful that this title will also come out in that format also hbo max still feels fresh enough with its deep library of original series that you can always re-watch binge style so for now hbo max is a play but i can see pausing it at some point at least until the next season of westworld comes out which is also a show you should catch up on but be prepared to feel left hanging because it's unlikely we'll see season 4 this year due to the pandemic as for amazon no details at the time i'm filming this but let's be honest if you have a prime subscription amazon prime video comes with it so are you really going to pause that one then there's peacock which i get it has the office so you might want to go with the ad supported streaming version but otherwise i just don't see it being worth the money so peacock is a pause for me same with cbs all access no need to subscribe when you can watch the super bowl on the ad supported free version or any other number of other platforms this year so until the next season of picard comes out which is probably gonna be a while because they just started filming this month i'm gonna probably be a pause on cbs all access and then there's paramount plus which was just announced would go live in march and why does everything have to have a plus on it now and what is paramount even doing it's super confusing but we're going to dig into that in our next episode thanks as always for watching everyone like i said before click that like button if you want to see more of these videos subscribe so you see us in your feed and let me know in the comments if you'll be
