Back to the iPhone Business: NFC and Passbook
Apple unveiled passbook and iOS 6 which really makes it a little sense without any sort of NFC that's nearfield Communications it's a way to transmit information from very close proximity it's primarily being used now for payment system think of Google Wallet Apple has been rumored for a while introduced their own mobile payment system Apple may actually be paying to put terminals uh in retailers hands they're the only sort of manufacturer that's got the cash Reserve to actually pay for people to have these terminals to make pay with your iPhone much easier hopefully iOS 6 is going to bring something new as well I'm not a big fan of Apple's mapping system I do like having turn BYT navigation I really liked having Google Maps in there from a software standpoint not really that much else has changed you got Facebook integration in there now obviously had Twitter before I am hoping that maybe they got a few tricks up their sleeve to bring something new and hot to the party but until then I will remain skeptical all right you guys excited about the iPhone 5 what features are you most looking forward to do I miss something that you really wanted to have I love to hear your thoughts and opinions it's almost time get your debates in before we know the whole truth
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up everyone John rer from TechnoBuffalo here the iPhone 5 is almost upon us just a few days away let me run through all my predictions what you can expect when you go to pick up your brand new phone let's get started so the iPhone 5 has got to go down in history as being one of the most leaked phones ever when the iPhone 4 first came out we had the actual phone but now we've got not only every single piece of the phone we've had pretty much the whole phone itself and we have the system we've had iOS 6 and beta for quite a while so I'm not sure Apple's going to have that many surprises up their sleeves but hopefully they got one or two things that they can still surprise us with INF you out there saying it shouldn't be called the iPhone 5 it's the six iPhone it should be iPhone 6 stop it Apple can call anything they want they can call it iPhone banana if they choose to uh when iPhone 3G 3GS 4 4s now they're going 5 makes it easier to remember phones I'm glad they didn't go new iPhone I just confus a ton of people there's going to be a lot of stuff CR into that new 4in screen which we are going to have now gone under of the Antiquated days at 3.5 in and yay 16 by9 aspect ratio so no more 4x3 we're also going to have a new material on the phone so we've gone from plastic and aluminum we're going to have a liquid metal in the back and it's not like crazy Terminator 2 style essentially it's just a a form of metal that makes it stronger and more conductive for antenna so signal can get out it actually should turn the whole back of the phone actually into a big antenna so it won't matter where you hold it antenna gate is a thing of the past speaking of antennas something new should be in there and if it doesn't you should never buy an iPhone again LTE will be on board Wall Street joural was reporting that actually it'll support Global LTE not saying all carriers will get it uh but if there's an LTE band should be supported with the iPhone 5 which would be awesome I was hoping for LTE and the iPhone 4S and apple said no you only get HSPA plus if you're on AT&T uh now we should have LTE for AT&T for Verizon maybe even for Sprint there have been rumors though According to some Sprint docs that they may not be getting the iPhone initially when the other carriers do I hope that's not the case I hope that they're going to be getting it as well they're really getting aggressive at launching LTE so hopefully for Sprint folks they'll be able to get it left out though looks again to be T-Mobile sorry for you guys uh but you can get it unlocked the carer makes it all kinds of easy for you to be able to get an iPhone on their Network even get 3G in some areas going to be a new nano SIM if micro SIM wasn't small enough now we're going Nano style tiny tiny tiny little Sim hopefully you be able to cut it cut regular Sim on down so you can use adapters and stuff to switch phones if you do as often uh as I do I'll have an improved camera probably still on the same 8 megapixel Edge but we'll have better Optics in there better low light visibility print facing camera is going to now be in the middle right above the earpiece so when you talk to somebody it should be looking directly at it so you're not sort of gazing off into the distance from a connector standpoint gone is 30 pin we now got a new think be eight or nine pin which it work plug it in either way piss a lot of people off you got got accessories for the old 30 pins but things got to evolve Apple's not doing it I'm sure part of the reason they're doing it uh make a lot of money they licens that stuff out uh they're going to make a killing on adapters and new licenses for products but also the 30 pin standard actually quite thick so to make the phone a little bit thinner which certainly is the new thing to do I want to take a quick break from iPhone n talk to you about our friends at QB user guy is actually located just down the street from us here in Orange County I'm friends with them I saw what they had and I wanted to share it with you guys so if you were fortunate enough to be at CES or South by Southwest you had a chance to probably check out QB I was pretty much one of the stars of both of those two shows there was a lot of cool stuff there to be seen essentially what QB does it allows content providers to have an assertive Communications With Their audience via rich media interactive notifications that appear right on the intended recipient's desktop mobile top tablet top or soon television top so essentally as you're reviewing something little guy walks right out and says hey I know you like TechnoBuffalo content let me show you what you have and it all sort of pops up magically for you so you don't have to worry about going to search for Content you can change notifications so it shows up or not shows up depending on how you want it's a really cool way to view new stuff so imagine working in Excel spreadsheet and I based on your own preference appear in the middle of the page remind you to watch techno Buffalo or your favorite band appears to say hey check out our new song on iTunes so QB's got all the important stuff in there as well you got Facebook Twitter Youtube all that good stuff that you need all that content can be shown directly on your little Cube so give QB a shot it's free it's really fun I've actually been using it for a while in beta I actually gotten a lot of used to sort of just flipping that little Cube around it's kind of fun way to play a game and I can see which artists will walk out onto my desktop so go to qb. comom that's QBE e y and go ahead and get downloaded give it a shot and then you guys are actually really going to like it so let's get back to the information from very close proximity it's primarily being used now for payment system think of Google Wallet Apple has been rumored for a while introduced their own mobile payment system Apple may actually be paying to put terminals uh in retailers hands they're the only sort of manufacturer that's got the cash Reserve to actually pay for people to have these terminals to make pay with your iPhone much easier hopefully iOS 6 is going to bring something new as well I'm not a big fan of Apple's mapping system I do like having turn BYT navigation I really liked having Google Maps in there from a software standpoint not really that much else has changed you got Facebook integration in there now obviously had Twitter before I am hoping that maybe they got a few tricks up their sleeve to bring something new and hot to the party but until then I will remain skeptical all right you guys excited about the iPhone 5 what features are you most looking forward to do I miss something that you
