The FIRST 1,000 Miles in My GT500! Where's Shmee US Edition BEGINS

As we left Jacksonville, Florida, our journey towards Atlanta, Georgia was just beginning. We had set off early, determined to make the most of our time on the road. With the GPS leading the way, we cruised through the city, taking in the sights and sounds of the urban landscape. Our destination was just ahead, but first, we needed to refuel. We pulled into a gas station, where we filled up the tank with economical fuel. As we sat there for a moment, waiting for the pump to finish its cycle, I couldn't help but think about how far we had come in such a short distance.

We were now at 230.7 miles, with just 15 miles of range left on our tank. The thought of running out of fuel was daunting, especially since this car was capable of so much more than we had initially expected. I took a moment to review the map, trying to get my bearings and figure out how best to navigate the city streets without getting lost in the maze of roads and highways. As I studied the route ahead, I realized that the journey would require some careful planning if we were going to avoid any costly detours or missed landmarks.

One thing was certain, however: this car was built for adventure. With its impressive performance capabilities and sleek design, it was the perfect vehicle for our road trip. And yet, as we pushed the boundaries of what it could do, I couldn't shake the feeling that there might be some hidden limitations lurking beneath the surface. The fuel economy was a particular concern, as we had estimated that this car should be capable of far more than 200 miles on a single tank.

As I pondered our options, my mind began to wander towards the idea of a maximum mileage run. Would we be able to coax this car to do something truly remarkable? The thought sent a shiver down my spine as I imagined the possibilities - and the potential risks. We would have to wait until we reached the next destination before even considering such an endeavor, but for now, it was just speculation.

We continued on our way, slowly making our way north through Georgia. As we drove, I couldn't help but think about how different this trip was from what we had initially expected. The weather had been uncooperative, with rain and sunshine alternating in a maddening cycle. But despite the challenges, there was something undeniably magical about this journey.

As we approached Atlanta, our thoughts turned to the task at hand - reversing into our overnight parking spot without scratching the car. It was going to be a tricky maneuver, but with the help of the reversing camera, I felt confident that we would get it just right. The car's bumping side was now on display, and I carefully guided us towards the entrance.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, we had made it into our parking spot without incident. We took a moment to breathe, then turned our attention to unloading our luggage from the trunk. As we carried our bags inside, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. This car, despite its initial limitations, had proven itself to be a trusty companion on our journey so far.

As I settled in for the night, my thoughts turned to the challenges that lay ahead. The next 4,000 miles or more would be a test of endurance for both me and this incredible vehicle. But for now, it was time to rest and prepare for whatever the dawn might bring.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys i'm shmee hello and welcome back to the channel where you join me to get started with the first big adventure in the new schmie mobile taking the gt500 the west coast to california an epic adventure some epic plans ahead some epic videos and also some live broadcasts on stereo you can take a listen to the broadcast that we've already recorded as well as the upcoming live q a where you can get involved as well you'll find that all down below in the description and download the stereo app follow shmee150 but more to come on that in a moment for now we've got the first leg of the adventure taking us from here in miami where the weather is a little bit dubious at the moment i'm not gonna lie up towards atlanta georgia about a thousand miles will be on the clock of the car when we get there we've got 750 miles ahead a couple of stops along the way going via south beach miami up towards daytona beach to hopefully drive this car on the sand let's see how that's going to go and then a long slog with one or two other places to visit on the way towards atlanta let's do this it's a big adventure ahead the gt500 was bought for this purpose let's go where's shmee u.s edition tour the car is of course bought for this purpose having found it via auto tempest it's been to first class auto sports to get the sun tech protection film the new reaction ppf also the black altered black stripes with the red pinstriping details but this is how it's gonna look rocking and rolling across the usa if i just pop open the trunk i'm becoming very american with my phrases out here we have loaded it up we've managed to get everything in it's nice to head on an adventure where we've actually got a car that can fit all of the luggage there's actually a big case just tucked in there as well even some water bottles and snacks for the road but this car well i cannot wait for it let's just do the start-up process it sounds so epic gonna be enjoying a lot of that v8 as we make our way on this incredible journey in the gt500 along the way there are going to be drag races there's going to be a dyno run there are going to be test drives collection visits collaborations i'm really really buzzed for what is ahead despite today's weather like i said not being the best but let's hop on board then get the journey started get on the way we've got many miles to go even today we're heading up towards daytona beach which is about 300 miles or so away from where we are right now continuing in this video onwards from there to a total of about 750 miles let's get started you might be wondering why this journey given we're heading north is starting heading to the south to go to miami's south beach well actually if you rewind back it was where about seven years ago the start of the 2014 gumball 3000 was held where we also drove from miami up to atlanta and i did that mostly in the back of a nissan gt-r and that was not particularly comfortable today's weather is all crazy and all over the place but i also want to given we're going coast to coast i want to start from well south beach miami across towards california a lot to come along the way and i tell you what i'm really interested as well later in this video to see how the gt500 does in terms of fuel economy because i can tell you it's going to be really bad but is it going to be worse than the ford gt that's what i'm waiting to find out given it's 4 200 pounds which is very heavy and it's got 760 horsepower so we'll get some numbers later on in this drive will be done a few more miles and probably about five fill ups between here in atlanta that does not sound bad at all we have a miami beach fire rescue let's hope nothing crazy has happened and then behind it we have a ferrari california tea and a rolls royce wraith just miami traffic so many nice cars everywhere as we arrive here at the famous ocean drive you can no longer drive up ocean drive itself but this is exactly where gumball 3000 started just well about 100 yards up that way and then with the ford gt about a year and a half ago i had it just up here when i was filming a fun reaction video driving it around we were right here with it and now the second schmie mobile has come to visit this exact spot which is kind of fun we don't have the best turning circle in here with such wide front tyres but we are good oh full lock i say we're good no full hug uh yeah i'm gonna chance it we've made it round we're back on the same spot and now it is also a beautiful day anyway just a very quick stop we'll get on the road our next stop is well heading north check that out mclaren 765 lt just coincidentally going by and i'm going to spin a u-turn we just spotted that and was like well that's cool i told you miami had supercars everywhere just here besides ocean drive look at that awesome we found another mustang and again with the little pink stripes the white stripes or silver stripes that it has alongside the black one see it's clearly a thing this is not the best weather to be leaving miami it is miserable and very very grim fortunately we had much better weather while we were here but onwards we'll be back before long the trip is off to a great start this is so miami he says how the porsche tycoon comes past as well how random feels like being back at home i can turbo but you can be in sunshine one moment and then torrentials out for the next um this is not ideal it's late in the evening it's been a day of rain sun rain and more sun but we've made it via a stop along the way to daytona beach we've driven 302 miles in total today we've now got just over 600 on the dashboard of the car but tomorrow is another 450 miles all the way up through florida through jacksonville onwards towards atlanta georgia we've got a busy day a long way to travel plus a few stops along the route as well and head upstairs take it easy and get back on the road in the morning morning it is time then to try taking the gt500 out onto the sand here at daytona beach and fingers crossed not getting stuck but let's find out how that's going to go i also need to give you some more updates about the plans ahead during this tour the where xmi us edition but before all of that let me tell you about some of the live broadcasts that i've been doing on stereo i've been catching up with a number of friends from the youtube and car world through stereo which gives you an opportunity to join in live and also to listen later and even to take part yourselves i'm going to be doing an upcoming q a and you'll find all the details about that down below where you can get involved and use stereo's functionality to send in a voice note where you can be part of the discussion as well there'll be more to follow over on the shmi150 page on stereo let me give you a quick sample of exactly how it works hello how you doing randy i think it's hilarious that i'm gonna you know bring my drive my lamborghini to the racetrack and then unload my tesla to win the drag race i think we know that andy's going one and i'm certainly thinking about going for once this is my second live broadcast in stereo but tom you are of course a veritable expert on here now what car do you find the most the best from each other i think it's a given that i'm taking your carrera gt here you can probably guess what i'm going to pick from your garage as you can see stereo is a live broadcasting platform where all you need is your smartphone to share your voice to get involved and be part of the discussion if you can't make my upcoming q a do be sure to bits of download that i haven't shared anywhere else some exclusive behind the scenes about this tour and where i'm going to be going about the museum back home and what's happening with that and about some future shmee mobiles as well so do check it out download the stereo app follow shmee150 and stay tuned for what's coming up in that for now though we need to take the gt500 drive down onto the beach here at daytona and tell you a little bit more about what makes this place quite so special well hopefully i'm not getting stuck task number one start the car up from the key which always just sounds ridiculous right let's go drive down to the beach all vehicles must exit beach before sunset um let's hope this is gonna work let's find out hello how are you doing forgetting yourself very well thank you there will be 20 for the day perfect first time trying this are we going to be all good are we going to get stuck or well let's hope you're not going to get yet but the high tide is coming in it's supposed to be here about 11 30. here we go the tide is quickly coming in there is big big significance behind this place driving on the sand at daytona beach this goes way back but basically the sand is so hard packed but back in the earlier half of the 1900s people used to race here in fact back in right at the beginning i think 1903 some of the first driving was done out here on the sand at daytona beach and in around 1936 they started hosting races and even used half of the race track here on the beach in half over on the other side and then it was in 1948 that because the racing wasn't so well monitored organizers were kind of running away before paying out to the victors that's when they then introduced nascar and even ultimately about 12 years later in 1958 they stopped doing races here 1959 they started taking them 12 miles inland to the daytona international speedway for the daytona 500 and now we are here on a section of beach where back in 1929 sir henry seagrave a british daredevil drove 231 miles per hour in 1929 nearly a hundred years ago he drove 231 miles an hour on a beach here where we're now driving in the gt500 taking it very easily they have a 10 mile an hour speed limit i mean it just feels a little bit wrong doesn't it to be right alongside the seas we obviously need to watch out for the impending tide rising today it's going to be high tide on some days you can come here and the sand has really said snow the sand is so soft that it's four wheel drives only or on some days sections of the beach are in fact closed as long as we don't stop moving it seems to be all good this is pretty crazy and pretty cool i think this was an absolute must for the car to bring it here to daytona beach to drive on the beach checkbox complete goodness it is whitney here but how cool to have the car on the sand at daytona beach normally you'd have two-way traffic going past and a line of cars parked up but of course with today's conditions with the rising tides being very windy and not exactly warm not many people are silly enough to bring especially a car like this out to the sand and yeah sand and cars isn't necessarily the best but hey it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bring the trump mobile here to daytona beach one of the stops i wanted to do to come and visit and we're gonna head from here as well over towards the speedway on our way up to the next destination i was just outside for a second to take a few more photos i'm not gonna lie i am brutally frozen the wind i mean you can see from the sand just blowing across the beach here um yes i think we've got to watch out you can see even the traffic light now goes through where the tide is coming up to so about the right time to exit and uh depart from the beach safely without trouble what a cool experience though to bring the car here we find our way to an exit back towards tarmac concrete safe ground hopefully no problems here with the splitter let's see take it easy take it easy and up we go that was a cool experience a lot of fun and uh yeah onwards you can tell you're in a motorsport town that's quite cool actually check that out then the grandstands of the daytona international speedway home to the daytona 500 those are some huge stands actually i have been here once before i came obviously on the gumball when we did this same route when we went from miami up to atlanta we had the checkpoint here at the museum which was i'm not gonna lie very rushed because we were one of the last cars out of miami because i was filming all of the cars leaving and we had to have a very quick lunch then get back in the car and go after we did one gentle parade lap around the track which was obviously quite something special but yeah here we are we had to at least pull over and see what we could find there are some things going around the grand stands are just over that away but here with the gt500 the first time i've brought one of my cars here to dayton how cool would it be to drive hear that something going around and again back out on the road then thank you for visiting daytona beach that was a nice short little stop to be honest as part of the tour obviously today we have a long long way to go ahead of us in fact about i think what seven hours from here up to atlanta something like that we've got one or two more checkpoints along the way but it's gonna be a long slog and a very late arrival tonight by the time we do get to atlanta what's going to be interesting now though is what this car is like as we do start to get a few more miles on it and in fact have a look at this we've driven i always reset the trip and we fill up so we've driven about 106 miles since uh filling up but we've got just over half a tank i'm not going to pretend that's good but that does suggest we should get over 200 miles from the tank again so it's only four phillips to get from miami to atlanta not five i mean in some cars you can do that in one this is this is not good at all this is really really quite inefficient the scale of this place is ridiculous it is huge that grandstand i'm not quite sure how many people it seems but it is massive it just goes on and on and on some first thoughts then on the gt500 as a car for this trip because you might think this being the super hardcore track version of the mustang maybe it would be too firm and i have to say when you're used to doing long journeys in supercars this is really pretty compliant it's comfortable we've got lots of luggage space in fact if we buy things on the way we've got plenty of room in the rear section where you would normally have the rear seats deleted of course on the track pack but a car other than the fuel economy side of things this kind of drive seems to be doing a pretty nice job i tell you what though we have a lot of very straight very tedious sections we could say we've got a checkpoint coming up just in a couple of miles but i imagine during this tour we're going to have a moment where i'll set the navigation and it will say the next turn is in 500 miles and i'll be like oh this is gonna be boring what happens when you're going across the united states coast to coast is that the scenery changes so much the roads change the views change so much changes and while you do have long stints with nothing really exciting happening out of the blue some crazy things just seem to come out of nowhere and that's going to be that's going to be part of the behind the scenes i guess of this whole adventure for now it's going to be a long long day we've got this checkpoint coming up now but then we'll see what it's going to say we'll see how far we can get on this tank of fuel as well and uh i guess cruise on we're heading at the moment towards jacksonville then we'll go up into georgia cruising through jacksonville taking well jump ahead a little bit and i'm trying to find my way through to the gas station but i've done this completely and totally wrong but we have now done 230.7 miles we're 15 miles to empty on the range and i think i've got to go completely all the way around the houses so that is better than i thought this car might be doing but to only do just over 200 miles on a full tank of very economical driving is a long way from i think we could say being a good thing so we're gonna be uh i guess at some point we're going to do a maximum mileage run at some point during this whole tour for sure one of those days where like i said we have 500 miles until we get to the next destination it's going to be a very late arrival for us you can see here at the moment we are just showing five hours away and we'll have a dinner stop so it's probably going to be into tomorrow before we actually do arrive up in atlanta for the moment though we're gonna go and reverse into here because our bump is on the left side it's the downside of having such a good sound hey it's what you gotta deal with and things like this reversing camera makes life easy nice to have that kind of stuff and this just makes for a really good all-round road trip car departing from florida thank you for visiting florida next to the flashing lights of the police car welcome to georgia the second state of our trip that is a very big u.s flag and that is the ford dealer from which this car was originally supplied i figured we were going to be driving right past it that's where this car was ordered and initially delivered before i took ownership of it we've got signs to atlanta well we've gone from one gas station stop directly into the next about or just shy of 250 miles later in fact the car now has 997 miles on the clock so three miles shy of the big 1000 but we will get this completely filled up 244 miles isn't all that bad to be honest it could be a lot worse but on a gentle drive like this it would be nice if it was more like 500 miles on the one tank oh diesel very unusual over here anyway let's go get this filled up recharge have a drink as well 18 miles empty that's the other thing you do get in the habit of letting it get really very low between fills but hey we're going to be there at a thousand miles and we've got about 110 miles up to atlanta 999.88 miles 999.9 miles and 1000 1000 miles exactly on the clock of the gt500 the first 1000 miles about 4 000 more miles to come on this tour alone and maybe even more than that we'll have to see how this goes it's probably going to be transported back to florida at some point looking all the stuff we've got around at some point slightly later in the trip we'll see what happens but now though onwards the last 100 miles or so up to atlanta again it is pouring with rain but this is downtown atlanta so we have nearly made it to our destination we're heading a little bit north of the city centre where we're actually going to be stopping overnight yeah the city of atlanta in the driving rain about one o'clock in the morning and we have made it ready to go and check in just over 1 100 miles on the car it is four degrees i popped the car into celsius that is not four degrees fahrenheit but four degrees celsius is nonetheless cold enough let me just turn it off oh there we go peace and quiet although the car is not all that loud i'm gonna brave the cold for a moment you can see the weather is still pretty miserable it's been a journey of miserable weather to be honest on and off rain sunshine all the way from miami up through the daytona beach up through jacksonville now to atlanta georgia a thousand miles already in the new schmiemaville the first thousand of many many many more to come but don't forget to check out my recordings over on stereo the live broadcasts and the upcoming q a download the app follow scheme150 more information and the links down below to find out all about that for now though we need to get our luggage unloaded head inside go check in have i think a well-deserved rest after what has been a long journey but a great car for purpose and i'm already excited what the rest of this journey is going to be all about that's it for now though a big thanks to stereo do download the app and i'll see you again very soon cheers youhi guys i'm shmee hello and welcome back to the channel where you join me to get started beach normally you'd have two-way traffic going past and a line of cars parked up but of course with today's conditions with the rising tides being very windy and not exactly warm not many people are silly enough to bring especially a car like this out to the sand and yeah sand and cars isn't necessarily the best but hey it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bring the trump mobile here to daytona beach one of the stops i wanted to do to come and visit and we're gonna head from here as well over towards the speedway on our way up to the next destination i was just outside for a second to take a few more photos i'm not gonna lie i am brutally frozen the wind i mean you can see from the sand just blowing across the beach here um yes i think we've got to watch out you can see even the traffic light now goes through where the tide is coming up to so about the right time to exit and uh depart from the beach safely without trouble what a cool experience though to bring the car here we find our way to an exit back towards tarmac concrete safe ground hopefully no problems here with the splitter let's see take it easy take it easy and up we go that was a cool experience a lot of fun and uh yeah onwards you can tell you're in a motorsport town that's quite cool actually check that out then the grandstands of the daytona international speedway home to the daytona 500 those are some huge stands actually i have been here once before i came obviously on the gumball when we did this same route when we went from miami up to atlanta we had the checkpoint here at the museum which was i'm not gonna lie very rushed because we were one of the last cars out of miami because i was filming all of the cars leaving and we had to have a very quick lunch then get back in the car and go after we did one gentle parade lap around the track which was obviously quite something special but yeah here we are we had to at least pull over and see what we could find there are some things going around the grand stands are just over that away but here with the gt500 the first time i've brought one of my cars here to dayton how cool would it be to drive hear that something going around and again back out on the road then thank you for visiting daytona beach that was a nice short little stop to be honest as part of the tour obviously today we have a long long way to go ahead of us in fact about i think what seven hours from here up to atlanta something like that we've got one or two more checkpoints along the way but it's gonna be a long slog and a very late arrival tonight by the time we do get to atlanta what's going to be interesting now though is what this car is like as we do start to get a few more miles on it and in fact have a look at this we've driven i always reset the trip and we fill up so we've driven about 106 miles since uh filling up but we've got just over half a tank i'm not going to pretend that's good but that does suggest we should get over 200 miles from the tank again so it's only four phillips to get from miami to atlanta not five i mean in some cars you can do that in one this is this is not good at all this is really really quite inefficient the scale of this place is ridiculous it is huge that grandstand i'm not quite sure how many people it seems but it is massive it just goes on and on and on some first thoughts then on the gt500 as a car for this trip because you might think this being the super hardcore track version of the mustang maybe it would be too firm and i have to say when you're used to doing long journeys in supercars this is really pretty compliant it's comfortable we've got lots of luggage space in fact if we buy things on the way we've got plenty of room in the rear section where you would normally have the rear seats deleted of course on the track pack but a car other than the fuel economy side of things this kind of drive seems to be doing a pretty nice job i tell you what though we have a lot of very straight very tedious sections we could say we've got a checkpoint coming up just in a couple of miles but i imagine during this tour we're going to have a moment where i'll set the navigation and it will say the next turn is in 500 miles and i'll be like oh this is gonna be boring what happens when you're going across the united states coast to coast is that the scenery changes so much the roads change the views change so much changes and while you do have long stints with nothing really exciting happening out of the blue some crazy things just seem to come out of nowhere and that's going to be that's going to be part of the behind the scenes i guess of this whole adventure for now it's going to be a long long day we've got this checkpoint coming up now but then we'll see what it's going to say we'll see how far we can get on this tank of fuel as well and uh i guess cruise on we're heading at the moment towards jacksonville then we'll go up into georgia cruising through jacksonville taking well jump ahead a little bit and i'm trying to find my way through to the gas station but i've done this completely and totally wrong but we have now done 230.7 miles we're 15 miles to empty on the range and i think i've got to go completely all the way around the houses so that is better than i thought this car might be doing but to only do just over 200 miles on a full tank of very economical driving is a long way from i think we could say being a good thing so we're gonna be uh i guess at some point we're going to do a maximum mileage run at some point during this whole tour for sure one of those days where like i said we have 500 miles until we get to the next destination it's going to be a very late arrival for us you can see here at the moment we are just showing five hours away and we'll have a dinner stop so it's probably going to be into tomorrow before we actually do arrive up in atlanta for the moment though we're gonna go and reverse into here because our bump is on the left side it's the downside of having such a good sound hey it's what you gotta deal with and things like this reversing camera makes life easy nice to have that kind of stuff and this just makes for a really good all-round road trip car departing from florida thank you for visiting florida next to the flashing lights of the police car welcome to georgia the second state of our trip that is a very big u.s flag and that is the ford dealer from which this car was originally supplied i figured we were going to be driving right past it that's where this car was ordered and initially delivered before i took ownership of it we've got signs to atlanta well we've gone from one gas station stop directly into the next about or just shy of 250 miles later in fact the car now has 997 miles on the clock so three miles shy of the big 1000 but we will get this completely filled up 244 miles isn't all that bad to be honest it could be a lot worse but on a gentle drive like this it would be nice if it was more like 500 miles on the one tank oh diesel very unusual over here anyway let's go get this filled up recharge have a drink as well 18 miles empty that's the other thing you do get in the habit of letting it get really very low between fills but hey we're going to be there at a thousand miles and we've got about 110 miles up to atlanta 999.88 miles 999.9 miles and 1000 1000 miles exactly on the clock of the gt500 the first 1000 miles about 4 000 more miles to come on this tour alone and maybe even more than that we'll have to see how this goes it's probably going to be transported back to florida at some point looking all the stuff we've got around at some point slightly later in the trip we'll see what happens but now though onwards the last 100 miles or so up to atlanta again it is pouring with rain but this is downtown atlanta so we have nearly made it to our destination we're heading a little bit north of the city centre where we're actually going to be stopping overnight yeah the city of atlanta in the driving rain about one o'clock in the morning and we have made it ready to go and check in just over 1 100 miles on the car it is four degrees i popped the car into celsius that is not four degrees fahrenheit but four degrees celsius is nonetheless cold enough let me just turn it off oh there we go peace and quiet although the car is not all that loud i'm gonna brave the cold for a moment you can see the weather is still pretty miserable it's been a journey of miserable weather to be honest on and off rain sunshine all the way from miami up through the daytona beach up through jacksonville now to atlanta georgia a thousand miles already in the new schmiemaville the first thousand of many many many more to come but don't forget to check out my recordings over on stereo the live broadcasts and the upcoming q a download the app follow scheme150 more information and the links down below to find out all about that for now though we need to get our luggage unloaded head inside go check in have i think a well-deserved rest after what has been a long journey but a great car for purpose and i'm already excited what the rest of this journey is going to be all about that's it for now though a big thanks to stereo do download the app and i'll see you again very soon cheers you\n"
