How to Make FROG BREAD _ 🐸TikTok Trend🥖

Greetings my beautiful lovelies! It's Emmy and welcome back. Today I'm gonna be making frog bread. Now this has been making waves in the TikTok community. I've just been dying to do this, but let's go ahead and give this a bite.

To make our frog bread, we're going to start with a simple white bread recipe. We'll need some flour, yeast, salt, sugar, and water. That's it! Just basic ingredients that you probably have in your pantry already. Now, I know what you're thinking - how are we going to shape this into little frogs? Don't worry, it's easier than you think.

First, we're going to make the dough. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of warm water and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Then, add in 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast and let it sit for a few minutes until it becomes frothy. Next, add in 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Mix everything together until a dough forms.

Now, it's time to shape our frog bread. We'll divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each one into a ball. Then, we'll flatten each ball slightly into a disk shape. This is where things get fun! Take two of your disks and place them on top of each other, forming a little frog body. Repeat this process with the remaining six disks to create two more frog bodies.

Take two small pieces of dough and roll them into tiny balls, which will be our frog's eyes. Then, take another two small pieces and flatten them slightly into two little back flippers. You can also cut a little fork into the bottom piece of dough to create two little toes. Now we're getting close!

Time to put it all together! Place the frog body on top of the egg-shaped eyes, making sure they stick in place with a little bit of water if needed. Take the back flippers and attach them to the frog body using a small amount of dough. Finally, take the tiny toes and press them into place at the bottom of the frog.

Cover your frogs loosely with plastic wrap or a damp cloth and let them rise for about an hour, or until they're doubled in size. While our bread is rising, you can also prepare your egg wash by beating one egg with 1 teaspoon of water. Brush this mixture all over your frogs to give them that nice shiny brown color.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and place your frogs inside. Bake for about an hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 190 degrees. You'll know it's done when you hear a lovely crunchy sound coming from within!

Now, let's take our frogs out of the oven and check on them. Ah! Aren't they hilarious? Mama frog and her froglets are so fun! And look at those adorable eyes - they almost fell off during baking, but don't worry, I used a chopstick to press them back in place.

As we wait for our bread to cool completely, let's talk about some tips and tricks. Make sure not to over-knead your dough, or it'll end up too chewy. Also, be gentle when handling the frogs, as they can break easily. And remember, practice makes perfect! Don't worry if your first batch doesn't turn out exactly as you hoped - just have fun with it and try again.

Now that our bread has cooled, let's take a bite and see how delicious it is. Mmm... this bread is lovely and fluffy, with just the right amount of sweetness and salt. And check out those cute little frog holes - perfect for making adorable toast!

In conclusion, I highly recommend giving homemade frog bread a try. Not only will your house be filled with the scent of freshly baking bread, but you'll also have absolutely adorable goofy results that are sure to bring a smile to anyone's face. So go ahead and give this recipe a try - I promise you won't regret it! Thanks for joining me in the kitchen today. "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en(upbeat music)- Greetings my beautiful lovelies! It's Emmy and welcome back.Today I'm gonna be making frog bread. Now this has been makingwaves in the TikTok community.I do have TikTok, I have not started it.Make me start.Tell me what I should see.Motivate me to start my TikTok account.I will put the link down below.I just need to just jump in.At any rate, frog bread is all over TikTokand it's so stinkin' cute. All it is, is a loaf of breadthat is shaped like a frog.(Emmy laughs)It's simple, right? So I know what you're thinking, because you're familiar with my channel. You think it's some kind ofbread that contains frog. No, it's not. It's just bread, plain old bread, that you make yourself of course, that's in the shape of an adorable frog. How wholesome and sweet and cute is that?So the origins of frogbread date all the way backto 2005 from a blog called The Fresh Loafand instead of making whatthe recipe called for,an aligator, the bakerdecided to make a frogbecause her grandson loves frogs. So, (imitates bell)- Aw!- Frog bread was created. An adorable loaf ofbread shaped like a frogwith raisin pupils andlovely brown egg wash.I knew I had to make it for myself.I mean, who doesn't love shaped bread?Actually, I think when I wasdoing a little bit of research, back in the 1980s this was a thing:making loaves of breadin different shapes --alligators, turkeys....You gotta love the 1980s.All righty, so let's go aheadand make some frog bread.I'm gonna be using the original recipefrom The Fresh Loaf, but shesays that you can go aheadand use any kind of sturdybread recipe that you like.I made my dough in a standmixer, but you don't need one.You can just make it in abowl if you don't have one. You'll just have to kneadit for a little bit longer. So, in the large bowl or inthe bowl of your stand mixer, you're gonna add six cupsof all purpose flour. Then add two teaspoons of salt.Add two teaspoons of yeast. Now, I used instant yeast. Now the recipe does notspecify what type to use.But since the instructions said to dumpeverything in together andthere was instructions aboutblooming your yeast, I'm going to assumethat it was instant yeast, rather than somethinglike dry active yeast. If you're using a stand mixer, you use your paddle attachmentand give the dry ingredientsa little bit of a mix.Next, you're gonna addtwo cups of lukewarm milk. And this is anywhere from98 to 107 degrees Fahrenheitor about 40 degrees centigrade.Next, we're gonna add 1/4cup to 1/2 a cup of water. And you're gonna adjustthis based on how dryyour environment is.The recipe says to kneadthe dough for 10 minutes. So you'll know when the dough is readywhen you can do the windowpane test. That's when you pull up a bit of doughand you can stretch it andlight filters through it.It's nice and transparent. You've built up enough glutento have nice chewy bread. Now you're gonna take abowl and oil it lightly.Oil the top of your doughball and place it in your bowland cover it with a little bitof plastic and a dish cloth. Now you're gonna let the dough riseanywhere from 60 to 90minutes until it's doubled. You want it to be niceand warm, not too warmand you don't want it to be drafty. So the colder your room, thelonger this process will take.At this point, you can shape this doughinto any kind of creature you like, but since I'm making frogbread, I chose to make a frogwith two small frogs as well.So my sons made their ownlittle individual frogsand I made a mama frog.So punch down your dough andthen cut 1/3 of the dough offand set that aside. So with the large piece of dough, you're gonna tuck the ends underand create a ball or a boule.pinch it nice and tight andthen kind of pointed at the endso you have a little bit of a teardrop. And this is going to bethe body of your frog.So with the remainingdough, you're gonna cut itinto eight pieces, two of thembeing a little bit larger. You're gonna tuck the dough under, but this time you're gonnaform a little sausage. And those are gonna be thehind legs of your frog. Then with the remaining six pieces, two of them are going to bethe feet of the hind legs. You can just cut a little fork into it.And you're gonna havetwo little back flippers. So then you're gonna take two moreand then make tiny littleballs by again tucking themand pinching them andstretching the skin of the doughnice and tight so you form two balls. And those are gonna be the eyes.Stick those right on top.So with the last two pieces, you're gonna take a butterknife or a bench scraperand cut two little slits. And now you've got three little fingers. You're gonna pinch the tipso they're nice and pointyand then tuck that underthe front of the frog. You're gonna cover thisloosely with some plasticand let this rise for about an hour. And to make your frog look really lively, take a couple raisins and press thoseright into the eyeballs. You're going to preheatyour oven to 350 degreesand then if you like anice shiny brown frog, you're gonna make an egg wash.So take one egg and addone teaspoon of waterand beat that all up.So before we egg wash the frog, you're gonna cut a little slit for a smileand then brush your eggwash all over your frogand place this into your preheated ovenand bake it for one hour. You'll know when the bread is donewhen the internal temperaturereaches 190 degrees. And mine reached that at 50 minutes,so at 50 minutes, you might wanna startchecking on your bread.Particularly if you'remaking smaller loaves.Once we take the breads out of the oven,we're gonna let them coolcompletely before we cut into themand here we are at the present momentready to taste the frogs.Let me grab 'em.♪ Di di di ♪(Emmy chuckles)Aren't they hilarious?Mama frog and her froglets.Oh my goodness, look at these!Aren't they totally goofy and silly? They're so fun.So while these were baking, theeyeballs wanted to fall off.I had to kinda give 'em a couple pusheswhile they were baking. And the raisins, or thepupils, wanted to pop out tooso I used a chopstick togive 'em a good press, but they turned out pretty great. The small ones I thinkturned out even better. So my first rise wenta little bit too long.It was a little bit over-proofedso I had some bubbling happening on here, but I think it kinda works for the frogs, since it's supposed tohave a warty texture. But, you know it's frog breadso I'm not looking for perfection.I'm just looking for breadthat looks like a frog.(Emmy laughs)Which is why this recipe is so much fun.And it's a great recipe to make with kidsbecause it combines wonderful thingslike food and playing with your food.I've just been dying to do this, but let's go ahead and give this a bite.Itadakimasu!(bread crunches)Mm.I think I actually over-kneaded this. It's very, very, very chewy. So, 10 minutes on a stand mixermakes for a very chewy bread. So if you don't like your bread so chewy, then perhaps do not knead it for so long, but it's delicious. It's a lovely white bread. It's got a little hint of sweetness in it.Perfect amount of salt.Let's check the crumb.Sorry mama! This does make for someinteresting shaped toast though. For sure.Yeah.That looks pretty good to me.Slightly over-proofed.See the size of those holes? But it's bread andhomemade bread is the best.Mm, mm, mm.Mhmm.So this style of breadis like a sandwich loaf. The holes are nice and small and tight. It's fluffy. But it's delicious, mhmm.So there you have it.Now you know how to makehomemade frog bread.I highly recommend doing it,because not only will yourhouse be filled with the scentof freshly baking bread, youwill have absolutely adorablegoofy results that, ifanything, will bring a smileto anyone's face.
