October Book Mail Haul _ Graphic Novels, Tor's Fall Releases, #TheDiabolic (#ad), & Fairyloot!

**Book Mail Haul: October Edition**

As I'm putting on my bag, I have to admit that I have a lot of pins that I need to add to my collection anyway, so this is a good opportunity for me to do so. A huge thank you goes out to Fairy Loot for sending me the Fall Releases. It's always exciting to receive new shipments, and I'm thrilled to be one of their subscribers.

Last but certainly not least, I was sent the September Fairy Loop box. As an international subscriber, I often receive my boxes later than everyone else due to shipping times and delays. This particular box arrived about halfway through October, so I decided to save it for this month's unboxing. And what a wonderful surprise it is!

**The Magic and Mayhem Box**

This month's theme is "Magic and Mayhem," and from the moment I opened the box, I knew I was in for a treat. The first thing that caught my eye was the Ethereal Kai candle from Castle of Fables. Oh my goodness, this candle smells amazing! I'm not sure what the scent description says, but it's definitely going to be difficult to burn this candle when I get it home. Fairy Loot sent three different candles, one for each order, and I'm thrilled with this selection.

The next thing that caught my attention was the pins featuring characters from V.E. Schwab's "Darker Shade of Magic" series. These exclusives are always a highlight of my box, and I love seeing the different designs and artwork. There's Kell looking dashing in his coat, Bastian with his usual charming smile, and more. And then there's a bookmark for "Vassa in the Night" by Sarah Porter, which I've already read and loved.

**More Fairy Loot Goodies**

In addition to the pins, I found some other goodies that I just can't wait to dive into. There's a sticker featuring Felix Felices, which is so cute! And then there's an exclusive pastel clouds necklace that's both adorable and versatile. I love how it matches my Aasa in the Night theme perfectly.

One of the most exciting things about this box was the Russian doll necklace inside the little package that came with it. It's such a delicate, intricate design that I know I'll treasure for years to come. And then there's the Army print from the "Darker Shade of Magic" series by Good Night Kittens, which I've always wanted to add to my collection.

**A Gisha Fan's Paradise**

But what really sets this box apart is the abundance of gisha-themed items. As a huge fan of the series, I'm thrilled to see so many exclusive goodies that cater to my love for the books. There's a book of gisha verse postcards, which I know will become a treasured keepsake. And then there's a notebook made exclusively for Fairy Loot by Literary Emporium Gifts for Book Lovers. The design is so beautifully done, with intricate illustrations and typography that make it feel like a true grimoire.

**The Final Surprise**

Last but not least, I received the "Vassa in the Night" book from Fairy Loot, which was nestled inside a special fairy loot bag. This retelling of the classic tale "Baba Yaga and Vasilisa the Beautiful" is set in modern-day New York City and features all sorts of bizarre and wonderful characters. With its unique blend of magic and mayhem, I can see why this book fits perfectly with Fairy Loot's theme.

**Conclusion**

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys it's Sam and today I have a pretty massive book mail haul slash regular haul for you so today I have some books I bought myself some books that I traded for in the books for trade hashtag on Twitter I have some books that I was sent from Publishers and I also have a subscription box so it's a very full day and I'm going to have a lot to show you if you guys are all concerned about what things I was sent if I was sponsored for anything ever in my videos then everything is linked Down Below in the disclaimer and I'm very very clear about that like what I was sent from who if I was etc etc and I will also be telling you before I show certain things so if that is a thing that you want to know and you're very hyper aware of I always tell you because I got your back I'm always honest with my BB's I'm going to start with some things that I bought and these were graphic novels I picked them up when I was in Boston for Boston tetine author Fest because a group of us went to a comic book store called comicazi and it was a ton of fun and I knew I had to pick up some stuff because I couldn't pick up anything at Boston author Fest cuz the books I wanted sold out before I got to the table which is really upsetting so my budget that I kind of reserved for buying books there I bought graphic novels with cuz it been a while the first graphic novel that I picked up was the wick and the Divine volume 3 this series is my favorite comic book series of all time it is surpassed Saga for me and I still have a warm spot in my heart for Saga but I'm I'm not caught up on Saga at all and I'm not caught up on this because this volume has guest artists in it so I think each issue was a different artist because their artist was like gone or something was happening so I've been hesitant to read this one because people said that this one kind of lags and stumbles a bit because of that like art issue so I'm excited to read this one because the next one is either just came out or is about to come out volume four and then I can just read this and read that right away but I love this series oh my God it is about Gods who are reincarnated and come back and they're kind of like Rockstar personas and there's so many gods that I have Deep Emotions about that are in this like it's it's a I mean if you know me it's like everything that I would want and the next graphic novel I picked up was zodiac Star Force and I've heard some really good things about this one I know a few of my friends have read it Kayla book of Doodles was with me when I picked this up and she definitely recommended it and so was Riley of Riley Marie so like everyone was like pick that up and I was like okay first off it looks gorgeous and to me and I'm pretty sure this was confirmed by people but I'm forgetting now this is kind of like Sailor Moon so it's kind of like Sailor Moon and like Lumber jeanss sort of combined and it looks beautiful like I almost picked up actually the manga of Sailor Moon like all the volumes because I want to get those and read those but I couldn't convince myself to spend that much money at a com book store that I wasn't really familiar with it wasn't my home comic book store like I should probably do it here whatever so I decided to pick this up as like a compromise cuz it's like kind of Sailor Moon like does this not give you Sailor Moon Vibes like completely I'm excited then from penguin I was sent a 50th anniversary edition of The Outsiders that's kind of unfortunate because right after this was sent out and during the whole 50th Anniversary thing seie Hinton decided to say some like shitty stuff on Twitter so that sucks The Outsiders is one of my favorite Classics like you know newer contemporary Classics and I loved it in high school when we read it and we watched the movie and I actually embarrassingly enough wrote a like story novel that was kind of because it was completely basically copying I was in like maybe nth grade I wrote like a mashup of like this and like Blue Crush I'm embarrassed okay but like that was my back then and so like I had this and like Blue Crush and they were like in I don't want to talk about it and there was like more girls like in it yeah these are why I don't write things no so yeah but I have a really soft spot in my heart for The Outsiders and I was really excited to get this because it's a book that I probably wouldn't have bought myself and especially because the additions that we've always had that we have to buy like in school and stuff aren't very cute because they're like really old and like very 70s and stuff but this is like a really cute Edition and then the author had to go and be like a douche on Twitter so great then we have this beautiful edition of the lies of Lo lamura by Scott Lynch now this was sent to me by Whitney of witty novels because I traded a book for her and she actually started sending this to me before that book trade even happened but then we traded books cuz I was like girl you just got me this because she's amazing I love you so much Whitney hopefully you're watching this but this is beautiful like I kind of I usually don't buy like multiple copies of books like that's not my thing I Hon understand people do it but I I personally don't but I have the like purple edition which is actually signed and I got from used bookstore magically now I have this and then I kind of want the Edition that matches my Red Seas under Red Skies so I would have like three additions I mean it's not really necessary like this one is kind of oh no like are they the same yeah they're about they're the same size so it's I I can get away with just doing that right like I don't I don't need three copies but this is beautiful and again thank you Whitney this is gorgeous actually Jillian from bookish Nery was the one that originally posted about this on Twitter and I was like I need that but I I shouldn't buy it I don't need multiple copies D and Whitney was like girl you want it and I was like you are an angel coming from Heaven to deliver me this beautiful work of art like I just I mean it's it's so pretty like I don't know if the camera is doing it justice but it do nice beautiful naked hardback like and they have like the tower so pretty now I have some books that I was sent from Publishers now this portion of the video is sponsored by Simon and Schuster and they sent me the diabolic by SJ cancade now this book comes out on November 1st and it is about Nemesis who is a humanoid teenager that is supposed to be a bodyguard for the Senator's daughter so Nemesis is made to protect Sedonia she would give her life for her and she would also kill anyone for her now one day the emperor discovers that sidonia's father is involved in a rebellion and so he summons Sedonia to become a hostage for him so the only way that Nemesis can protect her is to impersonate her at this court so Nemesis has to go to court and discover pieces of her humanity and just survive in this very political world when she's used to just being kind of a killing machine and a protector now she has to go and discover how to be a person and everything takes off from there you guys know how I feel about political Intrigue in fantasy books and this is one with a Sci-Fi spin on it so I'm interested to see what I feel about this one now moving on to this giant box that I got from T as I've mentioned before for tour is one of my favorite Publishers they publish Science Fiction and Fantasy and some of my absolute favorites come from them so they contacted me and asked me if I wanted to receive their fall box for Science Fiction and Fantasy and their releases that are coming out and I was like absolutely this arrived at my door actually a couple weeks ago and I've just been waiting to unbox it for this video I've just been staring at it cuz it's so pretty what wondrous things do you have inside so the first thing I'm seeing is high stakes a wild cards novel and this is a mosaic novel which is edited by George R Martin and Melinda M Snodgrass so this is a signed copy and it's signed by all the authors in there so I'm gathering from this this is since it's a mosaic novel that all the authors contribute a little bit so it's kind of like an anthology but in like a novel form which is a super cool idea so this is following the aftermath of World War II and an alien virus endows some people with superpowers the people who took on superhuman mental and physical capabilities became Aces so kind of like the superheroes and others were termed Jokers because they were kind of cursed with physical and mental disabilities the kind of tagline is some turn their talents to the service of humanity others use their powers for evil wild cards is their story this sounds like so much fun like look at how classically sci-fi this is like I mean that looks kind of like a cthulu esque kind of character I mean yes this looks like a ton of fun and the whole Mosaic novel concept sounds very interesting like I've obviously read books by pairs of authors by an author team or like anthologies but a mosaic novel is a new thing to me so that sounds really cool now the next thing that I'm seeing is invisible planets and anthology of contemporary Chinese SF in Translation now this is edited and translated by kenlou and he is a translator that did the three body problem which I have yet to read but I've heard amazing things about and I have been very interested in getting into Chinese science fiction because there's been a boom over there with all these things coming out and being like awardwinning and everything especially with a three body problem like I previously mentioned so this is 13 little kind of like sample short stories and anthology of different authors and stuff that are coming and rising out of like the Chinese science fiction community and that's really exciting to me because it's just it's so different to have science fiction from different parts of the world and different cultures because their science fiction is going to look totally different and explore totally different themes than ours and it's super super interesting so I'm really excited to get to this and I can definitely sample some authors with this like I love anthologies for that because you can read these different short stories and see whose writing style that you really like and that you want to see more of so it's always really fun to read anthologies for me cuz I always discover new Authors that way then we have one of their ya releases and that is seriously Wicked by Tina Connelly and this is a ya Witch Book so if you guys are into witch stories definitely check this one out this one is a standalone and it is fairly short so really good for the Halloween season then we have everfair by ni Shaw this sounds amazingly interesting it is a Neo Victorian steampunk novel that is set in Africa around the time that it's being colonized so this is a speculative history that's set in the Congo and it's looking at what have happened if the native population would have discovered steam technology around or before the time when they were being colonized by Belgium and so it's a very different take on things I love steampunk I've talked about that before steampunk is one of my favorite genres so having that in this unique setting that's not set in like London England and is set elsewhere around the world and has that different unique spin on it is really going to be interesting and I'm very excited about it this author has also won a few awards for some short stories so obviously very excited about the writing in this one then we have up draft by Fran wild now this one has already won the Andre Norton award this sounds like a really unique fantasy story it follows a main character of karit who is trying to earn her wings and become a traitor but she inadvertently breaks the law and has to come in contact with the singers which is a for boing government body in order to avoid punishment for her and her family she has to end up joining them and that means that she can't pursue flying anymore and trading and has to take on a whole new life but as she begins to take part in the dangerous training required of her she starts to unravel secrets and everything kind of takes off from there as I said this one has already won awards and it sounds amazing and just totally different and look at that cover art like it's gorgeous and those wings I'm very excited to get to this one they also sent me the companion to this which is cloud bound I'm not going to read the synopsis on this because this is obviously the sequel companion so I don't want to spoil myself for anything but again stunning cover art like uh then we have shards of Heaven by Michael Livingston this is an alternate kind of History so it has real historical facts in it but it's mixed in with this like magical backdrop so this is right after Julius Caesar was assassinated so it takes place kind of in Rome so during this time we have a character who is seeking out the shards of Heaven which are these mythological lost treasures like besid Trident and stuff like that that are said to contain the power of the Gods so we have this realistic history thing going on with this magical backdrop which is like my favorite thing and who doesn't love Roman culture like hello the sequel to that one the gates of hell is coming out in November then another science fiction title is alen morning by Rick Wilbur our main character is a sweep Caster who is somebody that uses this like new social media to tell like the new stories and stuff like that and have like kind of this real time showing of what's going on and like a new kind of sensory experience so when aliens start Landing it's kind of like a first Contact story he's somebody who's really well equipped to cover this crazy story the aliens at first seem very docile but then things start to kind of unravel as far as their own conflicts and it also hints at some character just like normal issues going on so it's going to be a mix of like Sci-Fi Action political Intrigue type stuff and then just like character you know family Saga type stuff mixed in with this so This sounds really interesting and again look at these covers okay like Tor does such a good job with their covers does this not vaguely look like a Reaper for Mass Effect I'm just saying I'm just saying I see Mass Effect everywhere but I'm just saying then we have death's End by six and Lou I actually already hauled this book because I did get sent the entire Trilogy this is the last book in a very beloved World claimed and award-winning science fiction series from the Chinese author six and Lou and he's won like a ton of awards for it like said so I plan on reading the series and I'm actually going to save this one and do a giveaway for this last book because I do plan on doing a readalong cuz a lot of you guys expressed in my video when I unboxed this series that you would love to do a readalong and I'm totally for that especially with a big science fiction series like this so I'm be saving this and giving it away to somebody who participates in the readalong so stay focused for that not sure exactly when it's going to be I want it to be soon but like the end of the year is like right around the corner it's really crazy so look forward to that and then they sent me a ton of pins which like honestly you can never have too many pins so we have press back that is from metl toown by Kristen Simmons then we have a Conjuring of Light by V Schwab the geek famous Revolution by Cameron Hurley ghost talkers by Mary rut koal which I've heard amazing things about heex by Thomas hold huel one for wild cards Arcanum Unbound by Brandon Sanderson a little tortine button and Cloud bound so plenty of pins which I'll be putting on my bag I have a lot of pins I have to add in my bag anyway so good opportunity to do so so thank you so much again to tour for sending the fall releases my way and last but certainly not least I was sent the September fairy Loop box now I would have loved to include this in last months unboxing but I always get UK boxes a lot later because obviously the shipping time and stuff and boxes T to come at the end of the month so I got this about halfway into October which is why I saved it for this month's unboxing but obviously very excited about this here is what the box looks like when you open it and this month's theme is Magic and Mayhem and I've heard a little inklings but what might be in here I'm so excited so the first thing I'm seeing is the etheral kai candle and this is from Castle of fables so this is a gisha candle oh my God that smells so good oh my gosh I wish I think the thing will set tell me how what this actually smells like but oh my God I never want to burn these candles when I get them because I just love my little phandom candles but like this smells so good so apparently for this month's box they sent them three different candles so one for each of the orders I kind of wish I got in one of the other ones but like I still love this one obviously but there's obviously other ones that I would have loved even more cuz my little gisha children then we have some magic and Mayhem pins and these are exclusives so these are all obviously from V Schwab's darker shade of Magic series we have Kell looking all handsome in his coat then we have a bookmark for vasset and the Night by Sarah Porter which I have already read and this is from behind the pages again really sticking with that theme of like creepy magic Mayhem because this book definitely Falls in that kind of category and we have some gisha verse postcards this is all stuff from the six of crows duy which obviously speaks to me on a deep personal level we have a little sticker it looks like of Felix felices which is super cute and we have an exclusive pastel clouds necklace so there's a little thing that it came in but oh cute it's a little Russian doll necklace which is just adorable and also goes really well with aasa in the night theme as well oh my gosh I'm really excited because when the owner contacted me and said that they wanted to send me this one they're like there's a bunch of gisha stuff in it so we know you're really going to like it and I was like thank you so first we have this second Army print which is the gisha Army in the gisha verse like oh my gosh I've always wanted to buy like gisha propaganda art and I very rarely find it it's very hard to find and this is perfect that is by the artist good night kittens then we have this book of the gisha which is made exclusively for Fairy lude by literary Emporium gifts for Book Lovers so I'm not sure okay so it's just a notebook but yeah it has it obviously has gisha stuff on it it looks very like grimoires so I very rarely see gisha like fan stuff so when I see it my heart like explodes in Joy because it I never see it ever it's like you always get Harry Potter stuff in boxes and whatever which is great but like gave me more gracious stuff and then we have this month's book which is kept in this little fairy loot bag and I guess this one is vast set in the Night by Sarah Porter like I said I have already read this book this is a very maob story that does fit in with the magic and Mayhem theme it is a retelling of the Bobby aan vasilisa the beautiful and it takes place in New York and there is nighttime constantly happening and there's this character named Babs who runs this really weird convenience store that dances on chicken legs and has all this weird stuff happen and she cuts off the heads of shoplifters which is basically anybody that goes in her store and all this weird stuff happens and the main character of Vasa gets kind of wrangled in to working at her store and it's bizarre and weird borderline gross sometimes but like maob is the perfect descriptor for this book because it's it's so weird but it definitely fits the whole like theme super well again all information for Fairy Loot and how to get a box of your own and everything will be linked down below so that is it for my book mail haul for October comment down below let me know if you guys have read any of these books and what you thought of them thank you all for watching and I'll see all you guys soon byehey guys it's Sam and today I have a pretty massive book mail haul slash regular haul for you so today I have some books I bought myself some books that I traded for in the books for trade hashtag on Twitter I have some books that come in contact with the singers which is a for boing government body in order to avoid punishment for her and her family she has to end up joining them and that means that she can't pursue flying anymore and trading and has to take on a whole new life but as she begins to take part in the dangerous training required of her she starts to unravel secrets and everything kind of takes off from there as I said this one has already won awards and it sounds amazing and just totally different and look at that cover art like it's gorgeous and those wings I'm very excited to get to this one they also sent me the companion to this which is cloud bound I'm not going to read the synopsis on this because this is obviously the sequel companion so I don't want to spoil myself for anything but again stunning cover art like uh then we have shards of Heaven by Michael Livingston this is an alternate kind of History so it has real historical facts in it but it's mixed in with this like magical backdrop so this is right after Julius Caesar was assassinated so it takes place kind of in Rome so during this time we have a character who is seeking out the shards of Heaven which are these mythological lost treasures like besid Trident and stuff like that that are said to contain the power of the Gods so we have this realistic history thing going on with this magical backdrop which is like my favorite thing and who doesn't love Roman culture like hello the sequel to that one the gates of hell is coming out in November then another science fiction title is alen morning by Rick Wilbur our main character is a sweep Caster who is somebody that uses this like new social media to tell like the new stories and stuff like that and have like kind of this real time showing of what's going on and like a new kind of sensory experience so when aliens start Landing it's kind of like a first Contact story he's somebody who's really well equipped to cover this crazy story the aliens at first seem very docile but then things start to kind of unravel as far as their own conflicts and it also hints at some character just like normal issues going on so it's going to be a mix of like Sci-Fi Action political Intrigue type stuff and then just like character you know family Saga type stuff mixed in with this so This sounds really interesting and again look at these covers okay like Tor does such a good job with their covers does this not vaguely look like a Reaper for Mass Effect I'm just saying I'm just saying I see Mass Effect everywhere but I'm just saying then we have death's End by six and Lou I actually already hauled this book because I did get sent the entire Trilogy this is the last book in a very beloved World claimed and award-winning science fiction series from the Chinese author six and Lou and he's won like a ton of awards for it like said so I plan on reading the series and I'm actually going to save this one and do a giveaway for this last book because I do plan on doing a readalong cuz a lot of you guys expressed in my video when I unboxed this series that you would love to do a readalong and I'm totally for that especially with a big science fiction series like this so I'm be saving this and giving it away to somebody who participates in the readalong so stay focused for that not sure exactly when it's going to be I want it to be soon but like the end of the year is like right around the corner it's really crazy so look forward to that and then they sent me a ton of pins which like honestly you can never have too many pins so we have press back that is from metl toown by Kristen Simmons then we have a Conjuring of Light by V Schwab the geek famous Revolution by Cameron Hurley ghost talkers by Mary rut koal which I've heard amazing things about heex by Thomas hold huel one for wild cards Arcanum Unbound by Brandon Sanderson a little tortine button and Cloud bound so plenty of pins which I'll be putting on my bag I have a lot of pins I have to add in my bag anyway so good opportunity to do so so thank you so much again to tour for sending the fall releases my way and last but certainly not least I was sent the September fairy Loop box now I would have loved to include this in last months unboxing but I always get UK boxes a lot later because obviously the shipping time and stuff and boxes T to come at the end of the month so I got this about halfway into October which is why I saved it for this month's unboxing but obviously very excited about this here is what the box looks like when you open it and this month's theme is Magic and Mayhem and I've heard a little inklings but what might be in here I'm so excited so the first thing I'm seeing is the etheral kai candle and this is from Castle of fables so this is a gisha candle oh my God that smells so good oh my gosh I wish I think the thing will set tell me how what this actually smells like but oh my God I never want to burn these candles when I get them because I just love my little phandom candles but like this smells so good so apparently for this month's box they sent them three different candles so one for each of the orders I kind of wish I got in one of the other ones but like I still love this one obviously but there's obviously other ones that I would have loved even more cuz my little gisha children then we have some magic and Mayhem pins and these are exclusives so these are all obviously from V Schwab's darker shade of Magic series we have Kell looking all handsome in his coat then we have a bookmark for vasset and the Night by Sarah Porter which I have already read and this is from behind the pages again really sticking with that theme of like creepy magic Mayhem because this book definitely Falls in that kind of category and we have some gisha verse postcards this is all stuff from the six of crows duy which obviously speaks to me on a deep personal level we have a little sticker it looks like of Felix felices which is super cute and we have an exclusive pastel clouds necklace so there's a little thing that it came in but oh cute it's a little Russian doll necklace which is just adorable and also goes really well with aasa in the night theme as well oh my gosh I'm really excited because when the owner contacted me and said that they wanted to send me this one they're like there's a bunch of gisha stuff in it so we know you're really going to like it and I was like thank you so first we have this second Army print which is the gisha Army in the gisha verse like oh my gosh I've always wanted to buy like gisha propaganda art and I very rarely find it it's very hard to find and this is perfect that is by the artist good night kittens then we have this book of the gisha which is made exclusively for Fairy lude by literary Emporium gifts for Book Lovers so I'm not sure okay so it's just a notebook but yeah it has it obviously has gisha stuff on it it looks very like grimoires so I very rarely see gisha like fan stuff so when I see it my heart like explodes in Joy because it I never see it ever it's like you always get Harry Potter stuff in boxes and whatever which is great but like gave me more gracious stuff and then we have this month's book which is kept in this little fairy loot bag and I guess this one is vast set in the Night by Sarah Porter like I said I have already read this book this is a very maob story that does fit in with the magic and Mayhem theme it is a retelling of the Bobby aan vasilisa the beautiful and it takes place in New York and there is nighttime constantly happening and there's this character named Babs who runs this really weird convenience store that dances on chicken legs and has all this weird stuff happen and she cuts off the heads of shoplifters which is basically anybody that goes in her store and all this weird stuff happens and the main character of Vasa gets kind of wrangled in to working at her store and it's bizarre and weird borderline gross sometimes but like maob is the perfect descriptor for this book because it's it's so weird but it definitely fits the whole like theme super well again all information for Fairy Loot and how to get a box of your own and everything will be linked down below so that is it for my book mail haul for October comment down below let me know if you guys have read any of these books and what you thought of them thank you all for watching and I'll see all you guys soon bye\n"
