**A Closer Look at the Samsung Galaxy A7's Camera Performance**
As I held the Samsung Galaxy A7 in my hands, I couldn't help but notice its sleek design and impressive features. The camera on this device is one of its standout features, with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. In this article, we'll take a closer look at the camera performance of the Samsung Galaxy A7, including our hands-on experience with it.
**Tap-to-Focus Functionality**
The tap-to-focus function is a convenient feature that allows users to focus on a specific part of the image by tapping on it. This feature works well for outdoor shots, where the subject is far away and the camera can capture sharp images without any issues. However, when we tried to take close-up shots or macro shots, the camera struggled to focus properly, resulting in blurry images. It's essential to have a reasonable distance between the subject and the camera to get good results.
**Macro Shots**
We noticed that the camera performance was not ideal for macro shots. Even with the tap-to-focus function, we encountered issues with focusing on close subjects. This is disappointing, given the device's specs and price point. To avoid blurry images, it's recommended to keep a distance of at least 1.5 feet from the subject.
**Outdoor Shots**
Despite the challenges with close-up shots, outdoor shots taken with the Samsung Galaxy A7 were impressive. The camera captured sharp and vivid images, even in bright sunlight. However, when we tried to take shots in semi-indoor conditions or artificial lighting, the image quality dropped off slightly. This may be due to the lack of image stabilization on the device.
**Video Recording**
We tested the video recording capabilities of the Samsung Galaxy A7 at 1080P, which was a good starting point for our review. However, we noticed that the audio quality could have been better, especially in windy conditions. When we recorded video handheld, it lacked image stabilization, resulting in shaky footage.
**Front-Facing Camera**
The front-facing camera performed reasonably well, even in artificial lighting conditions. The 5-megapixel sensor captured decent images, which were crisp and clear. However, the lack of optical zoom and limited low-light performance held us back from taking perfect selfies.
**Additional Modes**
Samsung offers additional camera modes that can enhance the overall shooting experience. These modes include Panorama, Night mode, and more. While we didn't test these modes extensively in our review, they may be worth exploring for users looking to expand their creative options.
**Conclusion**
The Samsung Galaxy A7's camera performance is decent but not outstanding. While it captures sharp outdoor shots, struggles with close-up shots, and lacks image stabilization, the front-facing camera shines in artificial lighting conditions. For users seeking better macro photography capabilities, they may want to look elsewhere. However, for those looking for a solid smartphone with good outdoor shooting capabilities, the Samsung Galaxy A7 is worth considering.
**Sample Shots**
To give you a better idea of the camera performance, we've included some sample shots taken with the Samsung Galaxy A7 in our gallery. Please check them out to see the quality and limitations of this device's camera.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enthis is the Samsung Galaxy A7 and in this video we'll be doing the camera review the Galaxy A7 has a 13 megap rear facing camera which can also record video in full HD whereas the front-facing camera is a 5 megap shooter and I'll show you a lot of sample shots that I've shot with the rear facing camera as well as the front facing camera but before that let's look at the camera interface and we have this standard Samsung camera interface that we have seen earlier also and we you have quick toggles over here from here you can quickly uh change the resolution and as you can see if you want to take the photos in wi screen that's 16x9 it'll be at 9 megapixel but you can move with between all these other resolutions if desired and if you click here and further if you click here you get to all the other settings and as you can see for video it can go up to full HD that's 1080P and if you look closely you'll notice that there's no video stabilization that is offered and that is one of the gripes that I have I'll show you a video that I shot later on and we also have modes over here these are the basic modes that you get uh rear camera selfie Panorama night mode and you can also download additional modes via Samsung's website and again we have this uh typical interface you have the tap to focus and once you tap in you can take the photographs but one thing I have noticed with this uh device is that uh it is having a lot of issues if you try to take macro shots and most of the times if you notice they come out to be blown blurry as you can see so it's not good for closeup or macro shots you have to have quite a bit of distance at least a feet or so I would say as you can see now the shot was pretty good now let me show you the sample shots that I've shot with this device so that you can judge the camera performance these were shot with the a7's rear facing camera and as you can see outdoor shots are actually pretty good and they are pretty sharp but the issue is that when you try to take closeups they can come out to be really blurry and out of focus even when you use the tap to focus function I had this issue multiple times but if you are about 1 and 1/2 ft away from the subject and then take the shots then they come out to be really sharp in terms of color accuracy it's pretty good but again when we try to take uh closeup or macro shots then the color goes for a toss it also does a little bit of oversharpening to the pictures that we take recording this video with the Samsung Galaxy A7 at the highest setting possible that is 1080P and the audio that you're hearing is also being recorded by the internal microphone of this device and we have that tap to focus so you can use that and I'm doing this handheld and uh in the menus there was no option of image stabilization so do let me know what do you feel about the video recording and let me just go here and another good thing is that uh if you keep uh the screen on auto brightness it's fairly legible even in direct sunlight and there's a lot of wind so there might be wind noise I'm just walking and it's a bright sunny day today so this should give you an idea about the video recording with the Samsung Galaxy A7 in outdoor conditions now when we move to semi-indoor conditions here also the performance was I would say just okayish it does a okay job but the issue is again with the focusing as you can see it could not properly Focus here and here also the focusing is pretty poor in terms of dynamic range it is pretty decent in my opinion now these were shot in completely artificial light in my office and if you notice the picture is not that sharp focusing was an issue here but if you have very stable hands then you can take some decent shots even in artificial lighting as you can see most times the flash will fire if you keep it on auto and I would suggest you do that these were shot with the front facing camera uh in artificial light in my office and as you can see for the front facing camera it actually does a pretty decent job now recording this part of the footage with the front facing camera of the Galaxy A7 and the good thing is that even the front-facing camera can record in full HD so let me give you an idea if I just move around against the light so this should give you an idea about the video recording with the front-facing camera of this galaxy A7 so what do I feel about the camera performance of this galaxy A7 as you have seen from the sample shots in outdoor lighting conditions it takes some pretty sharp shots but the issue is that when we try to take up close-up shots they come out to be really blurry another thing that I noticed with this device is that if you have a lot of objects even when you use the tap to focus thing it actually does not focus properly on the subject that you have tapped on I've noticed this a couple of times so that's quite a bit of a bummer in my opinion also when it comes to video though it can take video at 1080P and the quality was good but it does not have any video stabilizer so it can be a little bit shaky to my liking but when we move to the front facing camera which is a 5 megapix shooter here I would say the camera performance was pretty good for a front-facing camera so overall I would say the camera performance is sort of average because I've seen a lot better camera performance from Samsung devices having a 13 megapix shooter so I would say it is a decent camera but not that great in my opinion I've also posted several other videos for the Samsung
