The WORST microphone I have EVER reviewed...
**The Turtle Beach Microphone Review: A Disappointing Experience**
As I sat down to test the new microphone from Turtle Beach, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. After all, Turtle Beach has established themselves as a reputable brand in the gaming community, and their stream microphones are often sought after by gamers and content creators alike. However, my experience with this particular microphone was nothing short of disappointing.
**The Problem with Xbox Mode**
One of the main issues I encountered with the microphone was that it required me to switch to Xbox mode in order to use it with Windows. This seemed like a minor inconvenience at first, but as I delved deeper into the software configuration tool, I realized just how frustrating it could be. The tool itself is user-friendly, but the requirement to enter Xbox mode in order to configure the microphone settings was a major headache. Additionally, when I did try to use the microphone in this mode, I found that it wasn't visible as an audio device within Windows or usable for recording purposes.
**The Impact of Voice on Microphone Performance**
Another issue I encountered with the microphone was its sensitivity to voice. When I spoke directly into the microphone capsule, I found that my own voice caused distortions and background noise. This was a major problem, as it made the microphone unsuitable for use in quiet environments or when recording audio. The only way to mitigate this issue was to move the microphone away from my mouth, but even then, the sound quality remained poor.
**The Sound Quality of the Microphone**
Unfortunately, the sound quality of the microphone itself was another major letdown. When I spoke into the microphone, it sounded tinny and cheap, similar to a low-quality electronic voice. The microphone's inability to handle background noise or my own voice without distorting made it seem like an inferior product. I was particularly disappointed by this, as I had expected the microphone to perform better, especially considering its price point.
**The Comparison to Other Microphones**
In comparison to other microphones on the market, such as the Blue Yeti or Blue Snowball, this Turtle Beach microphone falls short. These microphones are widely regarded as industry standards for streaming and recording, and they offer superior sound quality and performance. The fact that this microphone can't even compete with these alternatives is a major red flag.
**The Headphone Monitoring Feature**
One feature of the microphone that did catch my attention was its ability to act like a DAC and allow users to monitor their system and game sound through earbuds or headphones. This could be useful for gamers who want to stay immersed in their games, but I couldn't test this feature thoroughly due to the microphone's poor performance.
**Conclusion**
In conclusion, I must say that I was thoroughly disappointed with my experience with the Turtle Beach microphone. The issues with Xbox mode, voice sensitivity, and sound quality made it a frustrating product to use. While I appreciate the affordability of the microphone, which is similar in price to other popular options like the Blue Snowball, I couldn't recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable and high-quality microphone.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enall right well this is a test of the Turtle Beach Stream mic in all of the default settings that I could figure out with my air conditioner going on in the background in my apartment here I like to include this in all of my reviews because people complain about their ambient noise getting picked up in yada yada so you can see how this microphone handles the background air conditioner and things like that this is a microphone test hello everyone we are going to be reviewing the Turtle Beach Stream mic today and boy am I disappointed Plex is the media streaming app that beautifully organizes your media collections and lets you securely access them on all your screens now with live TV viewing and DVR click the link in the video description to learn more so this is a weird review today we have in the turtlebeach stream Mike in poor review which for a while see after I purchased it I purchased it like over a year ago based on a request from a viewer who said that he thought it sounded better than my electro-voice re 20 I'm still baffled by this concept and at the time I could not find it I actually listed anywhere brand-new I had to pick it up on eBay there was a new old stock listing I got this one it currently costs about $40 at both Best Buy and turtle beach's website although they claim that's a knockoff you know that's a sale from $80.00 definitely don't pay $80 for this microphone this is a USB microphone in the box you get a big heavy stand that weighs it down although it's only like this tall and then you get all the attachments to attach it to the stand and or attach it to a mic arm like this one and then a big long very nice mini USB cable not micro mini then on the back you can see here sort of it's got the mini USB port a headphone port some sort of wireless button headphone monitoring adjustment although the DAC on it is garbage as always and then a switch to go between PC and our PC a ps4 is on one which is standard for these kinds of devices and Xbox the only problem is the driver tool the software tool to configure it the firmware updater tool requires it to be in Xbox mode but when it's an Xbox mode it's not visible to windows or usable as an audio device within windows or you're recording programs so even to change things that seemingly you'd want to change on the fly like announcer mode which just adds a reverb to it that's something you would only want temporarily you have to disconnect the microphone from your computer change the setting apply it come back and it has two different polar mode polym what what what it has two different additional polar modes somehow on this there's a super cardioid and an extreme hyper-cardioid as they call it mode for this mic I'm not even sure it's worth trying to be honest so you see me fiddling with this because you've probably heard by now while my audio levels are stable and it's not clipping or peaking the impact of my voice on the microphone capsule is causing distortions in my testing it does not tree background noise very well at all we'll go ahead and just knock out typing test this is here I'll bring the mic out here where I'd normally have it although that keeps me out of focus a bit typing on MX black switches on mic Jenna vation keyboard typing while talking typing while talking hey how are you doing today and maybe get a little bit of mouse click in there does not reject background noise at all and it's seemingly designed to kind of be away from your face I'm guessing by the fact that the the capsule was so sensitive so we're gonna put it like out here and facing me and then I'm just gonna have to talk louder actually I can turn the device up in Windows because it doesn't since it's not an analogue mic it doesn't have the mic gain option but the actual microphone level is sitting around 67 so now that I cranked that up I should not be peaking but hopefully the impact of my voice on the microphone is not as problematic I've never encountered this on a microphone ever this has to be the most disappointed I've been in my microphone tests that I have done thus far because it sounds tinny as hell it sounds cheap as hell literally me talking distorts the microphone the software can only be configured in Xbox mode and somebody told me they thought it sounded as good as an electro voice re 20 which is my big main desktop mic that you're hearing right now I try to be fair with these microphone reviews I try to place them within context of the budget or use case situation that people who might want to use them might be using them in so even if I imagine a situation where the microphone is all the way over here off screen now can talk to you guys without the microphone be invisible I can I was saying I can reach up and smack the mute button if I need to although that's gonna move the microphone and cause handling noise I the results you're gonna get from it being this far from your mouth aren't gonna be any better than how it should have sounded up close to your mouth I like I said I try to be fair to these but I honestly I can't go very far with this review this has been one of the worst microphones I've ever purchased for review I was excited for this one I was excited to see what turtlebeach had done what they have established as their stream microphone and I guess for an audience that already takes like a blue Yeti or a blue snowball and puts it way too far from their face and doesn't understand why it sounds so garbage this might work it's the same price as a blue snowball this one actually has headphone monitoring technically and it acts like a DAC so you can hear your system and game sound and yourself through your earbuds if you want to plug it in the back of your microphone and then have your cable yanking on the microphone the whole time I'm sure that doesn't sound nice you're gonna have the cable hanging right here you're gonna have like I it doesn't work for me none of this does it for me I I'm sorry but I might be quitting this review if somehow you want to purchase this product I can't imagine how but feel free to tell me why
