**A Beautiful and Breathtaking Love Story**
I recently had the pleasure of reading "The Heart Principle" by Natasha Nein, which is essentially a love story with so much more going on. One of the things I love about this book is that it's not just a romance novel, but a story that explores themes of immigration, family life, and diversity. The author handles these topics with sensitivity and nuance, making for a truly immersive reading experience.
**Diversity and Representation**
One of the things that stands out about this book is its diversity. We have Natasha, a Jamaican American woman who is an immigrant living in New York City, and Daniel, a Korean American man who is struggling to find his place in the world. The author's decision to feature two characters from diverse backgrounds is a testament to her commitment to representation and inclusivity. This book is not just about love; it's also about exploring the complexities of identity, culture, and belonging.
**Family Drama and Pressure**
The family dynamics in this book are incredibly well-done. We see Natasha struggling with her father, who is living in a dream world and wants to be an actor, despite the hurt he's caused his family. This has led to tension and conflict within the family, particularly between Natasha and her parents. The author expertly portrays the pressures of family life, where parents often want their children to excel in certain areas, but may not always understand or support their child's true passions.
**The Power of Love**
At its core, this book is a love story about Natasha and Daniel's journey together. Despite the challenges they face, their love for each other becomes a source of strength and inspiration. The author beautifully captures the magic of first love and the way it can change our lives forever. I loved how the book showed that even in the midst of heartbreak and uncertainty, there is always hope and possibility.
**Open-Endedness and Hope**
I was pleasantly surprised by the open-ended ending of this book. I'm usually not a fan of open-ended conclusions, but this one felt hopeful and optimistic rather than frustrating or unsatisfying. The author leaves room for interpretation, allowing readers to imagine their own futures for Natasha and Daniel. This openness is a testament to the author's trust in her readers and her faith in the power of love and human connection.
**A Beautiful Read**
"The Heart Principle" is a truly special book that exceeded my expectations in every way. I loved its diversity, nuance, and sensitivity, as well as its beautiful storytelling and memorable characters. If you're looking for a contemporary romance novel with depth and substance, this is the perfect choice. Be sure to check it out, whether as an e-book or audiobook – the narrator is phenomenal!
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello everyone today I'm here to review the sun is also a star by Nicola Yun this is Nicola yun's second book and this is my second book of hers that I've read also listen to the sun is also a star so everything everything I really enjoyed that last year it wasn't a full five out of five for me but I still really enjoyed it this book however this book is hands down my favorite contemporary book of the entire year and I do not say that lightly like I love contemporary guys like that is like mam but I haven't read a lot this year but this one that I read it just knocked my socks off and I just I I am I'm obsessed with it probably it's probably that's a strong word that's how I'm feeling like I said I listen to this and I highly recommend you listen to it as well two different narrators for the two main characters in our book and they also have a third narrative which I'll talk about more in detail audio book was just phenomenal I felt like I got to know the characters 10 times more I love the narrators that were behind them I just was obsessed with the Audi book so if you have an option to listen to the audio book I highly highly recommend listening to it because it was just phenomenal this will be a non-s sper book review so you won't have to worry about spers at all this book follows Natasha and Daniel Natasha is a girl that believes in science and fate she doesn't believe in love she doesn't believe at like true she doesn't believe in like fate and like you know we were destined to meet this one day she doesn't believe in any of that more on Hardcore facts you know if the science backs it up she believes it she's very much analytical and just you know takes for takes things for what they are she doesn't really read in too much into them then we have Daniel and Daniel is completely the opposite he is a poet he is a dreamer he is a a lover he believes in second chances he believes in fate he believes in Destiny and of course Natasha and Daniel meet and things happen this book takes place within the span of 24 hours which I didn't know and it was an amazing 24 hours of a book let me tell you so like I said we have these two main characters and I told you one's like sciency one's like poet but there's much more going on to this Tasha and her family are being deported back home to Jamaica within this book and it happens within the next day because it takes place in 24 hours and she is really struggling with that she has thought of America as her home her and her family came here when she was eight and she doesn't really familiarize herself with Jamaica as her home she familiares with the US with her home this is where she's grown up at this is where she's went to school this is where she wants to go to college she loves everything about us and she's just very very mad and sad that she has to go back to Jamaica then we have Daniel who has a very hard strained family life as well he is a Korean American and his parents are originally from Korea but him and his brother were born in America so they are American born but his family really identifies with the Korean culture they really just wanted to come to America for the better life the more school you know they want their sons to become doctors and go to Harvard they really want a lot of those things but Daniel doesn't want that Daniel wants to be a poet Daniel wants to live his own life not buried within the weight of his family's um obligations and pressures they have these two characters that are more that are Polar Opposites that meet one fateful day in New York City and quintessentially they fall in love that's not spoiling anything I think a lot of contemporary books you can just guess without a the bat that that they're going to fall in love I love this book this is qu essentially a love story its finest but there's so much more going on to that we have a lot of talk about immigration which is very relevant in this time and age in America right now we have a lot to talk about family life we have a lot of talk about of the pressures within family life and how they strain you of how you their parents want you to be something that you're not we have a lot of you know fatherdaughter strained we have a lot of mother mother son strained a lot of just basically family drama which is amazing to read about because sometimes in contemporary books they kind of just broke the family under the rug like they're there but they're not really there this book really hits head on with those details it's just amazing and beautiful the way they handled the the way Nicola hand handled family life and just was just so amazing about reading Natasha and Daniel's journey and how it was all within 24 hours but it did not read like it was 24 hours it just read so beautiful that you just forgot the 24 hours aspect of this book like I several times I'm like oh crap this is only 24 hours like what are we going to do it was just such a beautiful breathtaking book I will say this was only like a tiny minor spoiler if you will I don't know if it's even a spoiler this book did leave off on a very open-ended but I did not hate it and I'm surprised because I'm usually really against open ends I'm like G don't get near me I do not like open-ended books this one I really love the open- ending of it I saw the possibility I saw the hopefulness the ending was a lot of things heartbreak hopeful beautiful all of the feelings pretty much in the ending but I did really enjoy the ending so like I said this book is a love story but it has so much more going on to it we have Natasha dealing with her dad who is living in a dream world that wants to be an actor and that's really really hurt his family a lot because he has you know done this huge thing it's making them go back to Jamaica and Natasha doesn't want that she feels like his he's putting himself before his family once again and then we have Daniel struggling with the um weight of his his parents' aspirations his parents want more for him and want him to become a doctor and Daniel does not want to do that Daniel wants to be himself and you know such a diverse book because we have a girl that is the country illegally that is a Jamaican American if that is correct I apologize if it is not then we have a then we have Daniel who is a a Korean American if I'm saying that right if I'm saying that wrong I apologize as well but I love all of the diversity in this book and how despite anything two people can fall in love and it's just a beautiful and miraculous thing is the bottom line of this book and I just loved it I highly highly recommend you pick it up because it is just a beautiful book like I said hands down my favorite contemporary book of the year it was love and so much more love contemporary books but their love and fluff and all that but I love contemporary books that have a bite to them that have reality centered in them that have this heartbreak in them about family life and you know the Dynamics of family life and dynamics of immigration dynamics of diversity all of those many things this book has and does so so well and I know this is this story is very personal to because she is a immigrant from Jamaica and her husband is a korean-american I believe I hope I'm right on that I may be wrong but I just felt like I was reading about her and her husband I don't know if that's true at all but I felt like that and I think it was a beautiful love story a heartbreaking beautiful love
