iPhone 13 and 13 Pro Buyer’s Guide - Should You Upgrade

**New Features and Upgrades in the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro Mini and Max**

This year's iPhone lineup has brought several significant upgrades, particularly in the camera department. The new iPhone 13 and 13 Pro Mini and Max boast updated sensors that provide better low-light performance and improved ultra-wide shots with auto-focus capabilities. Additionally, a macro version of the camera is now available, allowing users to capture high-quality close-up images.

The iPhone 13 series also features an upgraded telephoto lens, which provides 3x optical zoom. While this upgrade is notable, it's worth noting that the reduced aperture of the telephoto lens means it takes in less light, which could potentially impact low-light photography performance. However, with the improved sensor and other upgrades, users can still expect better overall camera performance.

Another notable aspect of the iPhone 13 series is the lack of astrophotography modes or advanced features like this. While this might be a disappointment for some users, the upgraded sensors and cameras should provide better low-light performance for both photos and video recordings.

**Internal Upgrades**

The iPhone 13 series also sees significant internal upgrades, including the new A15 Bionic chip. This updated processor provides faster performance than last year's A14 chip, particularly in gaming applications where the improved display and hardware can make a noticeable difference. The A15 Bionic chip is also used in the Pro models, which receive an additional core and updated GPU.

The iPhone 13 series retains the same amount of RAM as its predecessor, with 4GB or 6GB depending on the model. This means that users won't see a significant boost in performance due to increased RAM, but the A15 Bionic chip should still provide noticeable improvements in gaming and general usage.

**Gaming Performance**

The iPhone 13 series features a 120Hz ProMotion display, which can make a significant difference for gamers. While the exact impact on gaming performance is still to be determined, this feature has already made a notable difference in games that support it.

For users who enjoy gaming on their phone, the upgraded display and hardware should provide a more immersive experience. However, it's worth noting that not all games will take full advantage of the ProMotion display, so users may not see a significant boost in performance.

**Should You Upgrade?**

Ultimately, whether or not to upgrade to the iPhone 13 series depends on individual user needs and preferences. For those who value improved camera capabilities, faster hardware, and a better display, the iPhone 13 series is certainly an attractive option.

However, for users who don't rely heavily on these features, the upgraded iPhone 12 might still be a viable choice. The decision to upgrade also depends on one's current device; if you're coming from an older model like the iPhone 11 or 10, the upgrades in the iPhone 13 series should be more noticeable.

**Deals and Availability**

The iPhone 13 series is now available for purchase, with various deals and promotions offered by carriers such as Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. Users can expect significant savings on their new devices, especially if they're switching from an older model or signing a new contract.

If you're considering purchasing the iPhone 13 series, be sure to check out the latest deals and offers in your area. Additionally, the iPhone 13 series is available for purchase online, making it easy to get started with your new device.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enHi everyone Aaron here for zollotech and with apple announcing the new iphone 13 13 mini 13  pro and 13 pro max just like we expected i want to help you decide if you should update  whether or not you have an iphone 12 already or maybe you have an older iphone or something  else i want to help you decide whether or not you should update or not and the first thing is the  major changes this year there are three of them the display the battery and the cameras so on all  of the different models that was the major change on all of them now i want to go over every little  thing individually so if you want to jump to a specific section that you want to know more about  i'll link them in the description with the time codes or chapters now as far as the overall color  options there's some new options this year we have a new starlight midnight blue pink and red  for the iphone 13 and 13 mini those are all of the new colors available now maybe they'll  make a new color available later later in the year or next year like they did with the purple  color with the iphone 12. as far as the pro models though they've gotten rid of the pacific blue and  instead replaced it with sierra blue it's just a lighter blue all of the other models are the same  gold silver and graphite so there's not really a big change there now this year apple's prices are  the same as last year so if you bought an iphone 12 last year they've kept the same pricing they  have not increased the price however they have kept the same sort of pricing set up on the iphone  13 and 13 mini which means if you go through a carrier it's 30 dollars cheaper and starts  at 699 or 799 for the regular 13. however if you don't go through a carrier you add on 30  making it 729 or 829 now you can go all the way up to 1029 or 1129 dollars in the united states the  prices will vary depending on the country you live in but you have 128 gigabytes to start at the base  so now if you were looking for maybe 64 gigabytes that's no longer here apple has bumped the storage  option but not increased the price so that's nice to see and then you have up to 512 gigabytes  now on the pro models they've again kept the same prices but you don't get that thirty dollar extra  bump in cost if you don't go through a carrier so 999 to 1499 that's on the iphone 13 pro and on the  iphone 13 pro max it's 1099 to 15999 dollars and again you don't have that 30 dollar bump like you  do on the lower end models you have storage that starts at 128 gigabytes and goes up to  one terabyte now so you have all the way up to one terabyte now one thing to note apple has said that  prores video is coming to the pro models later on and this is significant in that it's a very nice  format to work with on computers and it's really easy to work with but they're huge file sizes  so because of that apple has limited the 128 gigabyte model to just 1080p video in prores  now if you don't use prores of course you can use 4k in hevc or whatever codec you'd like there but  with the higher end models you need to have more storage than 128 if you're going to use 4k prores  so just keep that in mind however this isn't very significant to me because if you're using prores  you're not going to be able to easily get it off your phone since you're still using lightning  lightning transfers at a slower speed it's not as fast as usb-c or thunderbolt and so  because of that it's going to take forever to get that footage off unless they increase the speed  without telling us also you could use airdrop but again that's going to be very slow to transfer  say 512 gigabytes of video so just keep that in mind if you are planning to get the different  storage options or whatever you plan to order now one thing to know is the overall size is a little  bit different they're very close as far as the external dimensions but the thickness is about  0.2 millimeters thicker or so and they are slightly heavier based on every single model  0.5 ounces or about 10 grams heavier on each model give or take a little bit but they are a little  bit heavier and i think that's to accommodate the new battery that's a little bit thicker  so it's got a larger battery in it and then it will give you about 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending  on the device on the smaller devices it's about an hour and a half on the larger devices where  you have more space it goes up to up to two and a half hours now with that extra time they haven't  said how they've achieved that so if maybe you're watching youtube or maybe you're recording video  those those actual times can vary quite a bit but it is nice that we're getting a bump in battery  now the other significant change this year is the displays on all models now the pro models  do get 120 hertz pro motion displays that can go down to 10 hertz all the way up to 120 hertz  but they don't go down to 1 hertz or have always on displays at least that they've shown us so far  but on the 13 mini and 13 you don't get that pro motion display so keep that in mind  but they have increased the overall brightness to 800 nits for 625 nits of just regular use so if  you're in brighter sunlight that should help on the pro models it's regularly up to 1 000  nits this year where it was about 800 or so last year so it's improved quite a bit on the displays  and of course if you haven't noticed already the notch has shrunk so a lot of people were concerned  about this now it's narrower but it's actually a little bit taller they've moved the speaker to the  very top and move the camera to the left so many of you that wanted a smaller notch you have it but  it's actually a little bit taller or it protrudes further into the display whether or not this is  better is hard to say but it's definitely an iphone signature thing and maybe they'll get rid  of it in the future but it's here to stay for now now the other significant upgrade is the cameras  on the 13 and 13 mini the cameras get sensor shift stabilization so that's nice they brought that  over from the 12 pro max last year and on the pro models you get a big bump as far as the sensors  they're all updated sensors you have better low light you also have ultra wide with auto focus and  a macro version now as well so you can take macro photography which should be really nice hopefully  we can use that in video as well but i can't wait to try that out also you have 3x optical zoom on  the telephoto lens now it does take in less light because of its reduced aperture but we'll have to  see how that plays out in future photos there's no astrophotography modes or anything like that  but they are a significant bump in the overall sensor of the device so we should get better low  light for video and photos and more now this year apple is giving us the new a15 bionic there's some  significant updates internally such as video codec updates and more however we don't know the actual  performance coming from last year's model with the a14 so the a15 is faster and in the pro models  it's even a little bit faster with a an updated gpu with an additional core so it should be a  little bit faster much faster if you're coming from older phones of course and with the a15 we  have the same exact ram that we did as last year so we're not getting a bump in ram as far as this  year goes four and six gigabytes respectively now as far as gaming performance because we  have that 120 hertz promotion display on some games we should see some updates eventually  on the ipad it can make a difference and on the iphone pro models with the pro motion display  we should see a little bit of a bump there and of course if you're into gaming on your phone it will  make a difference as far as that goes so those are all the major things in the iphone 13 and 13  pro mini and pro max and that leads me to should you update well it really depends on those first  three things that i've mentioned what i mentioned was a better display a better battery and upgraded  cameras if none of those matter to you then i wouldn't upgrade if you have an iphone 12 or  any of the pro or pro max it's not really worth the update if those things don't matter to you  however if pro motion 120 hertz matters like it does on the ipad for me i really like it  i think that's a big jump the cameras are a big jump if you use those also the battery should be  a big jump but if none of those things matter you can regularly plug in your phone well then  i might skip this update however if you're coming from an older iphone an iphone 11 or an iphone 10  or maybe an iphone 6s plus or even older than that it will be a significant upgrade for you not only  will you get dolby vision hdr for your videos you'll get a much better camera a much faster  cpu as well as well as updates for at least five or six years maybe even longer in the future so  there's definitely advantages to update at this point but as far as coming from the 12 to the 13  it's more of a smaller update this year for you if you're on those devices already but i'd love  to hear what you think in the comments below if you're looking to pick one of these up of course  you can get different deals at different carriers and things like that verizon at t and t-mobile  you'll be able to get significant deals and maybe more around the world i'd love  to hear from you if you're picking one up and of course i'll link a new wallpaper for you in the  description like i normally do if you haven't subscribed already though please subscribe and  if you enjoyed the video please give it a like as always thanks for watching i'll see you next time\n"
