Epic showdown - Dell XPS 13 vs. Macbook Pro!
The Dell XPS 13 and Apple MacBook Pro 13 are two high-end laptops that compete with each other in terms of performance, design, and price. The Dell XPS 13 has a close integration of its hardware and software, which makes it run really nicely. The processor is a fifth-generation Skylake i7, dual-core Broadwell, which may seem old but still delivers great performance due to better integrated graphics. However, the Dell XPS 13's biggest advantage is its thinner and lighter design, making it more portable and attractive.
On the other hand, the Apple MacBook Pro 13 has a close integration of its hardware and software as well, with a slightly older processor that may seem less powerful at first glance. But despite being a couple of generations old, this CPU still delivers great performance due to its better integrated graphics. The most significant difference between the two laptops is their wattage, which affects their performance. The MacBook Pro 13 has access to more power and more performance as a result.
One thing that sets these two laptops apart is their display. While both have excellent displays, the MacBook Pro 13's screen is arguably better due to its higher resolution and color accuracy. However, the Dell XPS 13 starts at a lower price point than the MacBook Pro 13, with an entry-level model starting at $800 for a 1080p display and four gigs of RAM. In contrast, the most basic configuration of the MacBook Pro 13 starts at $1,300.
Battery life is another area where these two laptops differ. The Dell XPS 13 has around seven to nine hours of battery life, while the MacBook Pro 13 can last up to 10+ hours on a single charge. This is largely due to the MacBook Pro's clever design and Apple's expertise in squeezing out maximum battery life from its operating system.
While both laptops are high-quality devices, there are some advantages that one has over the other. For example, the Dell XPS 13 has better accessibility to certain features at a lower price point. On the other hand, the MacBook Pro 13 is a great option for those who want a Mac and value its ease of use and integration with other Apple devices.
Ultimately, the choice between these two laptops depends on individual preferences and needs. If portability and design are top priorities, the Dell XPS 13 may be the better choice. However, if battery life and performance per dollar are more important, the MacBook Pro 13 is still a great option. As for Apple's ability to regain its position in the laptop market, it will likely take time and a new generation of products to turn things around.

course feel like we have to say that anymore but there you go Macbook Pro 13 with Retina you see the two systems there you know it used to be the case that Apple just ran away with the crown as far as portable laptops go there this really wasn't any comparison but uh lately you know the windows Ultrabooks have really um caught up in the Dale XPS 13 is a a prime example of that something I think the star with we can show a nice little comparison here is go ahead and enclose that and just put them put it up right side by side you can see this XPS 13 okay it's a much smaller system they're about the same thickness I think the xace 13 is technically a little thinner or raw um but these both have 13-inch displays okay so these are functionally giving you the same thing but this XPS 13 you know Infinity Edge bezel it's very nice design so given that you know why would you why would you still want to go with the MacBook Pro 13 I mean these are these are very similarly priced systems so this is a little bit of heavyweight now what's he goty going for it well you know I think like what you're saying is sort of true that this is a system that used to to be the gold standard and in a lot of ways this is sort of that same system and I think that's sort of what's holding it what's holding it back the processor is a little bit older the screen is is starting to get towards higher resolution although the Apple kind of you know weird resolution stuff tends to bother me that they don't pick standard resolutions for their re displays um but at the same time the system is it's compact it's easy to use a lot of people really like this for the operating system you know I don't think that this would be as appealing of a system if it didn't run Mac if you if you put the same Hardware in front of me um the close integration of those two makes it run really really nicely though uh and it makes it sort of irrelevant that that Hardware that CPU is a couple Generations old um you know it's still a really fast computer and these things also they're so durable they hold together forever like these MacBooks are are indestructible in a lot of ways something to note about the processor in that isn't there it's not quite the same as the XS 13 is it no no so the X 13 that's a Skylake i7 correct uh this one is Skylake i7 yeah well that one specifically you're going to be starting with a a Skylake I3 at the most entry level XPS 13 what is I'm just looking this up this is the uh this is a fifth generation correct now that in this one Broadwell Broadwell yeah also dual core I believe now the thing to note about the processor in the MacBook uh Pro 13 is that it is not running at the same wattage as the ones in the XPS 13 now now what does that mean to you it means this has access to more power and more power means more performance so these actually perform a lot better than you would suspect uh you think oh fifth gen that's a lower number than six so it's probably slower not the case also better integrated Graphics uh in these and that kind of justifies the fact that it's a bigger system um and you know you can get this with I5 or i7 this is a little bit uh more entry level with the I3 uh but that that does lead into um the price comparison where you can get this with an I3 okay and that's $800 and that's with a 1080p display and four gigs of RAM and those are specifications you know that Apple isn't going to sell you it's going to start you Apple wants to start you up at $1,300 configuration and that's it uh so if you're looking for something a little bit cheaper um you know the Dell's really the only way to go there um you know I think it's important to note to that while the the XPS 13 has awesome battery life one of the best for a Windows PC out there the battery life in the MacBook Pro 13 is awesome it's way better I mean it's it's got to be I think it's probably the longest battery life we've tested on a system in recent memory I mean it's it's a 10 plus hour system even on the most demanding benchmarks I mean this really it's a system that keeps going all day long no problem that does point to again the the integration between OSX um and the actual Hardware um apple is packed in a really big battery with the MacBook Pro 13 and and they they know all the tricks to squeeze out the maximum battery life out of the operating system so you know XPS 13 you're going to be getting probably around seven to n hours depending on your usage um but this you know you can exceed 10 or 11 so that is you know a little bit of advantage for uh for the MacBook um I got to say though on the whole though I would give the nod to the XPS 13 as being you know the system of choice between these two main reason being uh that it's thinner and lighter um and when you're talking about a 13inch system something that's very portable I think that's really important um it's more attractive I think uh and the display is better um and I think the overall design of keyboard touchpad is on par with the MacBook Pro 13 at the very least um so that might be considered a little bit of an upset um so any any sort of last bits of hope you want to you want to throw out for the the MacBook Pro 13 and it defense um I mean in terms of potential this is a system that it's got great support and it gets updated a lot so it's one that Mac could easily turn this back around on the Dell with the Next Generation Um this current one not so great especially in terms of value when you look at it in terms of performance per value and accessibility to the system at a lower dollar point the the Dell kind of takes it but you know it's not not over for Apple they've come back from worse yeah and there's there's the operating system divide if you want a Mac obviously you're going to get a Mac and some people are just going to get Windows and they're going to want to get the D but if you've got to toss up you're like ah I like both these operating systems or at least I'd be fine with both these operating systems and I think for once in probably the history of laptops the windows one is the way to goall right it's time for the epic showdown
