**Aston Martin Vanquish: A Car Worth Every Penny**
We really like the new Aston Martin Vanquish. I mean, how can you not fall for a car that looks and feels and sounds like this? Some people have accused the latest Vanquish of not quite delivering on its promise. There are those who say it's not quite fast enough considering it costs £190,000, and there are others who accuse it of looking a bit too vulgar on the styling front. However, I'm not sure I agree with that at all. Not in this beautiful green of this test car.
Look at it - 565 horsepower from a 6 L V12 under the bonnet, and a really fast paddle shift gearbox with which to access it. And despite weighing 1,700 kg, which is a lot by sports car standards, that's exactly what makes this car so fast. It'll get to 100 mph in less than 10 seconds and do way beyond 180 mph. Handling-wise, wow - this car is really, really nicely balanced. It's a lovely old-fashioned rear-wheel drive front engine GT car, which always means you get the best kind of balance from a car.
That means you can do things like watch as it slides beautifully through corners, its understeer providing just enough safety net to keep everything under control. And if you turn all the right systems off and press the sport button, you can just muck about with this car for hundreds and hundreds of yards. The only trouble with the new Vanquish is that there's a previous Vanquish - and that car was absolutely bursting at the seams with soul and atmosphere and charm.
I remember really vividly when the Vanquish first appeared, and it just seemed like such a monster at the time. It cost £158,000 back in 2003, had 460 horsepower from its 6 L V12, and weighed over 1,900 kg - it was a big old beast of a GT car, and still feels like that. But there's something about the old Vanquish that I really quite like - the engine, for one thing. It doesn't sound as powerful as the new car, of course, but the sound it makes, the response it has, and the performance it delivers particularly in the mid-range are all just top-notch.
I don't know if you'll find it to be anything other than a bit tame, even compared to newer cars. But that's okay - sometimes there's a place for old-fashioned charm in this world, and this car is certainly not without it. In fact, I think the new Vanquish has only added to its appeal - and when you get behind the wheel of either one, you can see why.
**The Old Guard**
One thing that still feels very much like an antique in the Vanquish is the interior. It's a bit of a mixed bag, really - some things are lovely, but others seem to be stuck in a time warp. The dials look beautiful, of course, and the old-fashioned paddle shift gearbox is still a joy to use. But if you're not used to driving like this, it can take a bit of getting used to.
The problem with the new Vanquish is that it's trying to do too many things at once. It's an all-new car, with modern materials and modern technology, but it still feels like a throwback to a bygone era. And while that might be part of its charm for some people, others may find it too much to take in. But ultimately, I think the new Vanquish is worth every single penny - even if it does feel just a little bit dated.
**The Verdict**
In the end, there's no getting away from it - the old car feels old, and the new car feels crazy sharp and absolutely bang up to date. The new Vanquish is a really, really good GT car that has only added to its appeal with age. I think I may have underrated it a bit until now, but having spent this day in it, I can see why it's been so highly praised by fans of the brand. It's not perfect, of course - but what car is?

is no way that you could do this kind of thing in a car like this unless the handling was really properly sorted and it is there's a little touch of under steer which is nice that just gives you this little kind of safety net and then if you turn all the right Systems off and you press the sport button you can just muck about with this car for hundreds and hundreds of yards maybe the only trouble with the new Vanquish is that there is a previous Vanquish and that car was absolutely bursted at the sea with soul and atmosphere and charm and call it what you want so I guess the only way to tell the number numbers that It produced and what it cost it really was a bit of a monster it cost 158,000 this is back in 20034 it had 460 horsepower from it 6 L V12 and it weighed well with a driver on board over, 1900 kgs it really was a big old Beast of a GT car and it still feels like that but you know what there's something about the old Vanquish that I really quite like the engine I mean it's do you know it's not that far off the new car obviously it's nowhere near as powerful but the sound it makes the response it has and the performance it delivers particularly in the mid-range I don't know it doesn't feel that timate in a straight line it still feels probably fast this car but there are elements lots of elements I'm afraid that really do feel absolutely from yester year I mean this switch gear is well even 10 years ago you could kind of pick holes in it because you could go well that's from a fiesta and that's from a Jaguar XK8 and that's from a focus and 10 years later well time has not treated the interior of the Vanquish very well it feels like an antique in here but the dials okay I can't really see what they say but they look beautiful and you know bottom line you downshift a couple of Gears with the rather old-fashioned paddle shift sort of manual sort of Auto gearbox put your foot down and this is what you get I mean that that is still properly fast even compared with a new car but overall the Driving Experience well I don't know it really does feel if you were being polite you'd call it quaint if you are being honest you call it a bit of a dinosaur but I don't know sometimes there's a place for dinosaurs in this world and this car is not without charm it never was and it never will be cuz it was really kind of the last of the big handbuilt hairy Larry not very competent asant and you have to love it for that even though in every way imaginable it gets mullered by the new car right conclusion there is no getting away from it the old car feels
